Google announced the Project Fi, its own mobile phone network in April last year with Nexus 6. The service which was following an invite system until now is ditching it and now is open for everyone in the US to try it.

Project Fi which takes advantage of both T-Mobile and Sprint networks will now allow users across the US to sign up for service without having to wait in-line for an invite. It is only available for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6 smartphones from Google and work with a special SIM card that supports connections to multiple cellular networks.

Google charges $20 for the basics plan which include unlimited domestic calls and texting, Wi-Fi tethering, unlimited international texting, and access to cell coverage abroad while the data costs $10 for 1 GB, $20 for 2 GB and so on, with the user paying only for the data used. Giving some insights about Project Fi, the company said in the blog post that 15% of customers have used Fi abroad in 110 of the over 120 supported countries.

Project Fi enabled smartphones can link to one of two 4G LTE networks or to Wi-Fi, automatically selecting optimal connections and switching from one to another without interrupting service. As a promotional measure and to urge people to sign up for Project Fi, Google is offering the Nexus 5X starting at $199 for the next month.

Enjoy Full #VR & #AR without a PC thanks to @SulonTech By @VicenteA_George

Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality are two of the most wanted features, but so far with products like Oculus   and the HTC Vive that asked for a NASA computer to have at home, it’s time to go on a different path and there’s where the Sulon Q enter

The first all-in-one, tether-free, “wear and play” VR and AR device

If you don’t want to pay a fortune your better options are Google and Samsung devices, which comes with a far better price but are useless without a phone.

Oculus, Sony and HTC offers are more attractive but demand a way bigger budget, besides been tied to an external devices al well.

The Sulon Q on the other hand, is totally independent, giving the user freedom of movement and enjoyment anywhere.

Using the latest technology to transform any room into an immersive experience backed by AMD the headset is quite different from what we’ve seen lately.

Some of the internals we have:

AMD FX-8800P processor at up to 35W with Radeon™ R7 Graphics Core Next architecture.

4 compute cores and 8 GPU cores  through a revolutionary Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA)

A 2,560 x 1,440 OLED Screen resolution

110-degree field of view

DirectX® 12 and Vulkan

A custom spatially optimized Sulon Q™ earbuds

Dual noise-cancelling embedded microphones.

An FX-8800P “Carrizo” APU

A 3.5mm audio jack

It uses spatial mapping in real-time to bring the entire space you are occupying into your experience allowing you to seamlessly transition from the real world to virtual worlds.

1 / 7

With full compatibility with Windows 10 the devices seems to be a truly unique experience.

There’s no word about price or availability beyond the launch date during Spring 2016.

Bu what do you think about this? Been able to play VR or AR games even in the forest with some friends sounds good to you? Let us know in the comment section below.

Newly anounced “5D Glass Disc” Can Store up to 360TB

How to keep our files and documents safe, is something that has bothered us since the beginning, but apparently, a team from the Optical Research Center from the University of Southampton have developed a way to record data in “5 dimensions” and make it last billions of years.

They use a method that uses ultrafast laser impulse to create nanoscale dots aligned into three layers that are five-millionths of a meters apart.

So using a single 1″ inch disc which is more durable than traditional storage options as well they can also fit 360TB into the disc.

According to the team each disc should be able to preserved the data up to 13.8 billion years (which also means we’re not going to be here to see it is indeed capable of that)

Th guys have already encoded various texts of mankind history like the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, King James Bible, Magna Carta and Isaac Newton’s Optick as copies.

Also named “Superman Memory Crystal ” when they showed for the first time in 2013 as it resembles a the one found on Superman movies of old, they should be ready for commercial use in a couple a years and you will have something like a DVD reader to look what you have there.

Professor Peter Kazansky, from the Optoelectronics Research Centre, said:

“It is thrilling to think that we have created the technology to preserve documents and information and store it in space for future generations. This technology can secure the last evidence of our civilization: all we’ve learnt will not be forgotten.”

What do you think about this? Will this be the solution mankind has been asking for since forever to preserved they knowledge to future generations?

Apple has its own #VR headset now on the App Store By @VicenteA_George #iPhone #Apple

Every day more and more companies are joining the VR wagon, but some of the most promising ones like Oculus are too expensive, some others just go an choose the Google cardboard which is way cheaper.

But today we have just discovered that now Apple has its own VR headset, the View-Master Virtual Reality Starter pack (hope the name changes )

Putting the name aside, this is and actual step into the right direction from the fruit company.

This headset was created following the same principles as he Google cardboard, using your iPhone’s screen, you’ll get two split images that when seen through the cristal on the device will simulated the 3D impression on your brain.

Unlike the former, this model is made of plastic, but with a strong resembles of those little toys we use to have when kids, the ones that came with a reel of different images. It even comes with a lever to control your phone.

Well, actually is practically the same as this device works with the same kind of mechanism, the app to control everything on your phone is totally free on the store, but its just a sneak peak of the entire content, such as Space and NATGEO wildlife and destinations.

Something that we did see coming, was a way to charge more for something that should have come ready, in order to unlock the full VR experience, customers will have to buy a separate reel that will free the true power of the app.

And although the device is compatible with iPhone 5 and up running iOS 8.1 or later, there’s a warning saying iPhones 5 and 5c may have issues as the app is not totally optimized.

The View-Master Virtual Reality Starter Pack it in pre-order stage at $29.95

And you can have yours HERE

Stay tuned for more info

Project Skybender is Google’s new aim to #5G internet By @VicenteA_George #Google

The internet giant known as Google, develop its business through the internet therefore they are the most interested on having more people using it.

There is where this new project comes in, meet Skybender

Something that you may not know is the fact that even in 2016 only 40% of world population have internet access, reason why, enterprises like Nokia (before and now) and Google are doing their best to improve this situation.

Recently “The Guardian” found out they are testing Solar powered drones to deliver internet access all over the world is a secret project codename “Skybender”.

Building their own prototype transceivers and drones Google experiment with millimetre-wave radio transmissions, this technology can THEORETICALLY transmit up to 40 times more data than current 4G/LTE networks.

This idea was born under the same roof as Project Loon which have the same principle but with self powered balloons, thing that has cause some inconvenience as they enter restricted air zones ending in a not so nice situation.

The improve idea has also newer carriers, in this case the responsible for delivering the data will be a drone and no a common one, Meet the Solara 50, a solar powered drone that’s almost as big as a plane, literally speaking.

This will granted better data transfer rates, as the technology use at the moment has a short range compare to normal cellular signals.

The testing is being held at New Mexico’s desert in Virgin Galactic’s Gateway and we expect to have more details about this new project as well updates about Project Loon in the coming months.

What do you think of this? Are you agree on having drones flying all over? Leave your thoughts on the comment section below.

#TheNextGalaxy to be unveiled on February 21st By @VicenteA_George #Samsung #Android

It’s finally happening!

For all of those who have been waiting for the new Samsung Galaxy device, the wait is over.

With a single video with no sound Samsung give us a sample about the next “Unpacked” event that’s gonna be held during MWC 2016 in Barcelona, to be more precise February the 21st

Something we can imagine thanks to the video is that Samsung is going to have the event with VR compatibility as the person in the video is using the Gear VR-

But without further add, here’s the video:

As you can see is pretty straight forward, with zero to none about anything, but the device itself had have lots of leaks by now and for all of them we can tell almost no differences between the current model and new upcoming one.

Maybe and if we’re lucky an SD card slot, but apparently removable batteries are dying as manufactures already realized how profitable is selling power banks (Samsung has plenty offers in that department).

Now let us know! Will you get the next big thing from Samsung? Or are you going to skip this version and wait for the S8? Sound off in the comment section or tweet us using @jimboireland or @VicenteA_George

Windows10 will be the only fully supported OS for newer hardware By @VicenteA_George #Intel #AMD #W10

As the year is starting many of you are planning on upgrade you PC’s or laptops but if you’re thinking of getting the latest and greatest specs the only version of Windows you can use is Windows 10

Although as today, there’s more than 200 millions devices running Windows 10 there’s also millions of other that still prefer to use the old but reliable Windows 8/8.1 or even Windows 7, (specially companies)

And given the fact this versions of the OS are going to get updates ’till 2020 and 2023 is not a bad idea at all, but there’s a catch.

After CES las week, Microsoft has made official their commitment to Windows 10 as a “One OS to rule them all” therefore, they want to W10 to be on more and more devices.

So with the announcements of the upcoming silicon such as :

Intel’s “Kaby Lake”

Qualcomm’s “8996”

and AMD’s “Bristol Ridge”

Microsoft is planning on rely on this manufactures “a better integration between software and hardware to improve performance” on every device.

How? There’s going to be limitations on how the devices will perform under certain OS, if you have W7 or W8 your system is not going to be well optimize, but if you have W10 you will get up to 30x better graphics and 3x battery life (which is certainly unfair as it’s a really big difference in graphics)

You still are going to be able to install any of the former versions but without the proper optimizations your system will be very vulnerable.

Actually, even the recently announced Skylake silicon is going to have a downfall as those who are still on W7 or W8.1 just going to get security updates until July 17th of 2017.

So this is one of those situation in which you have to choose between to two worst options.

But, what are your thoughts on this matter? Are you happy with this decision?

Or do you think is worth the risk keeping up the old W7 or the not so old W8.1 around?
