Discover #RemixOS 2.0, Android for your PC By @VicenteA_George #Android #PC #OS

For quite a time now we’ve had Chrome OS the system used to run Android on a PC like environment.

But sometimes it feels short when competing against monsters like Windows or Mac OS  and then is when this newly additions enters the scene.

Discover Remix OS 2.0

What is it?

Is an Android based operating system, design to offer the best of both worlds, the almost unlimited selection of app the Google Play Store has at your disposal and a almost full desktop experience you’ve dreaming of.

Remix OS has it all:

  • True Multitasking
  • A Taskbar
  • A Notifications Center
  • Full Keyboard commands
  • A working Right-click
  • A File Manager
  • Full suite of Google Play apps
  • Future software Updates

This OS has being developed by the Jide team, previously known for making pretty good Android tablets and its built upon the Android x86 initiative.

And they have made a pretty impressive system, worth notice! This is not a public software, although is available for everyone from Jide’s page, for the moment is meant for developers as is still on “Alpha”.

But if you’re interested on this, you’ll be able to dual boot Windows/Mac and “Android” on you PC, the best part of it is that you can even install the OS on a pendrive us booted up directly from there!

On Remix OS you’ll have two offerings, the well known Google Play Store and their own “Remix Store” for full compatible apps.

Everything on the OS looks really well design, but has a strong influence from Microsoft’s Windows 10 like the Notification Tray

All future software updates will hit the place you have destined for it, and it’ll run on most PCs without a particular OS version needed it, which is pretty awesome.

Obviously this desktop software attempt is really solid, but is has the occasional bugs and it won’t replace you current fully working (in most cases) OS.

The #GalaxyA 2016 to be available in Europe on Jan. 8th By @VicenteA_George #Samsung #Android #A5 #A7 #A3

Last year Samsung gave us a glimpse of what a premium looking phone could be with their Galaxy A line up, the A3, A5 and A7

All with the beautiful and stylish look we wanted to our Galaxy S5, on a smaller form factor, price and specs.

This year though they decided to join the “budget club” delivering some really good phone with a good price, with that in mind they recently launched an updated and upgraded version on the “A” series with the Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 of 2016

Unlike they predecessors, these variants follow the design language of the Galaxy S6 with a metal and glass construction.

These devices were set to launch in China this month but now we know they’re coming to our shores as soon as January 8th

But let’s take a look under the hood of the new Galaxy A line

Core: 1.6GHz Octa Core
OS: Android 5.1 (Lollipop)
Camera: Rear : 13MP (F1.9), Front : 5MP (F1.9)

Dimension: 151.5 x 74.1 x 7.3mm, 172g
Battery: 3,300mAh, Fast Charging

As you can see the A5 and A7 are the Big brothers packing even a Fingerprint reader while the A3 is what’s now consider “the compact version” allowing you to have almost everything you could ask in conservative color options like Black, White and Rose Gold.

These 2016 A series has as you could see a significant downside, they come with Android 5.1 instead of coming directly with 6.0  but this probably change really soon.

Now what really matters is the performance and that is something that we’ll see when they get here. The new Galaxy A line up is schedule to release on January, although we only have the price of two of these devices:

The Galaxy A3 will costs €329, while the Galaxy A5 will be €429 we have no info about the A7 but seeing the difference between the other two, this one will probably come at €529 (or maybe less)
This is at least what the only European retailer (in Nederland) is asking for them.
What do you think about these new boys? Will you take one home with you if they hit your local retailer?  Let us know in the comment section bellow or Tweet us using #TechBuzzIreland

The Google Pixel C is finally available for purchase from the Google Store By VicenteA_George #PixelC #Android #Google

Announced way back at September alongside the new Nexus devices, this is not the first time you heard about the Android Notebook-Tablet hybrid from Google

The curious Pixel C

As you can imagine is like the classic tablet with a detachable keyboard but on this occasion the bottom portion is bonded through magnets instead of ports.

Here we have the promo video to help you remind a little

As you can see one the the highlights of the tablet is owning a Tegra X1 processor, which promise to give that extra smooth feeling to your gaming.

The rest of the specs are pretty solid as expected with a 10″ screen with 2560 by 1800 pixels and an interesting 1:√2 aspect ratio, Camera combo, a USB Type-C, 3GB of RAM an 32GB or 64GB of storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The device itself is pretty interesting but unfortunately the prices are a bit of a downside being asked  $499 for the 32GB model or $599 for the 64GB plus the $150 for the keyboard you’ll ended up with pretty much enough to buy a full Windows 10 Notebook.

But if you really want to try one and are a diehard Android fan this is your chance to get to get the job done.

At the moment, the Google Pixel C is available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the USA.

Press Release

IBM stuns with 7 nanometer Functioning Chip by @Tiwaash #tech

IBM has been working constantly over the years to provide the world a new and unique computing experience. The consistent research and development by the good folks at IBM have come up with something very surprising a 7 nanometer functioning chip.

IBM along with Global Foundries, Samsung and the SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering in Albany, New York, represents a $3 billion investment in chip technology research and this first 7-nanometer node test chips with functional transistors is a result of the hardwork through the years.

The scale down in size was achieved by using Silicon Germanium (SiGe) channel transistors and Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography integration. According to IBM, the breakthrough could deliver up to 50% better power and performance for future systems supporting Big Data and mobile products.

This ground breaking innovation is a sign of revolution in the way computing is done today. The 7 nanometer chip has opened up a total new avenue for development of more powerful and energy efficient chips. We are hopeful that IBM will continue to surprise us in the coming years.

Stay tuned for more tech buzz.
