Aftershock VR headset and app review. Nepals untold water story #VirtualReality #AftershockVR

We have been trying out the Aftershock VR documentary with their very own headset and its an eye opener,Cast your mind back to 2015 when the country had two huge earthquakes in as many months. Many of us on earth will probably never see one but for the majority it is something we see on the news. Put yourself in that position,9000 people lost their lives, things like this should make you think and not take life for granted..

I have been reviewing VR apps sometime now and this is not something that most of us are custom to in the VR space ,for the most its games and roller-coasters and so on but there is some interesting documentaries  out there which you should go check out and look outside the box for a change you never know how surprised you will be with what you can learn…

The experience is also excellent on this headset and you really need to sport some headphones, sit back and enjoy and most importantly learn something this goes on for quite a while and not the typical short burst we are mostly see on documentaries. There is much to learn and see here..

AftershockVR / WaterAid takes you on a special journey with a guy called Krishna Sunuwar (The only plumber) in Kharelthok, Find yourself amidst the rubble of homes damaged in the devastating 2015 earthquakes and discover what it takes to repair the community’s vital water supply.

The headset itself is pretty good and you can order one free which is a nice idea and is simple to construct like any other and some padding here for the device is quite nice where the device sits and its also held closed with velcro, You will construct in seconds, All you need to do is download the app which is quite big and be sure to use your wi-fi to do so. The app is on Android and iOS and coming soon to Oculus.

CubeRun VR – A nice game if your bored. #Oculus #GearVR

Whilst sitting around the office and waiting for my crappy internet to work I stumbled across this game which is kind of cool for passing some time of you have nothing better to do, Think of temple run but not as nauseous if you have tried it already, Even a seasoned VR user at times I do get a tad disorientated and since introducing a game-pad to the game it gets worse, but saying that I mean the effect is good given your hand is not stuck up in the air looking like you are hailing a taxi..

This game is fun quick and will give your neck a good workout if anything and there is to some degree a bit of immersion there but not on the same level as Temple Run.. With a few more updates I think it could be even better

CubeRun is a running game which is build in a world of cube. You will need shake your head left or right to avoid any obstacles in your way. Especially don’t tilt your body or head because it doesn’t work. You also need collect the coins and run as far as you can. Because your speed will be faster and faster, also the map will be more difficult. You will get into 4 different maps such as spring, summer, autumn and winter. And each season has day and night. During the night the part of your sight will be dark, so you should better be careful.

#Coastiality roller coaster #VR app now on the Oculus store. #VirtualReality

A few weeks ago we brought you the news of one of the better roller-coaster VR apps called Coastiality that hit google cardboard, The good news now is that is available on the Oculus store and its completely FREE.

Coastiality  by Europa Park  has quite a bit to offer to the fore and for roller coaster fans you are in for a treat,There is a lack of good roller coaster apps that give a real immersive feeling but not here with several on board the app,the intro on the app is also excellent with great music to boot.

The app is also well presented with apps on display right from the start,Also you can pick to either download or stream the experience and then you can pick between 2K and 4K resolution.. I have tried out the apps and they are quite good..This also applies on the Oculus version, just use the 4K and grab a pair of headphones…

Fancy enjoying a roller coaster ride in VR from the comfort of your home? Do you want to experience virtual worlds coming to life while riding through theme parks around the world? Welcome to Coastiality, your home for unique, high quality virtual reality experiences!

Hit the logo below to get the download. Keep your eyes off the blonde woman sitting beside you..

Samsung Gear VR 2016 unboxing and comparison. #Samsung #VR #VirtualReality

The much awaited Gear VR 2016 has landed with us and its a nice piece of equipment, with some changes from last years offering they are all welcome,With the new Black look to boot it even looks much better than last years model and its good to see a change from the once traditional white colours we tend to see VR headsets in..

This unit will cost roughly the same as last years model which is a bonus and if you have ordered the Note 7 you may have got the option to get one free and that offer could be still available at launch in stores for now this remains the best VR headset at its price having had the last two versions myself i feel it is a welcome upgrade, the only thing though is the lack of content on the oculus store vs what we can get on cardboard and this needs to change quickly, there is however apps you can use to use play store apps on the headset which I personally have not tried, I have a large amount of headsets for that content so no real need for me but there is some really nice apps there on the play store to check out..

Check out the video and image gallery with side by side comparisons below and if there is any questions fire away below or sound off over on Twitter or Facebook..

If you missed out on this via pre-order you can also get them online,It would be nice to see these physically in stores this time round so people can actually see them and perhaps try them out before they decide to purchase, Until then you can try the likes of Amazon and eBay and similar sites to get your hands on one of these but do check the prices,Particularly with Amazon check Amazon.fr and Amazon.de ,also Amazon US these will ship to Ireland via parcel motel too..

REVIEW – I AM CARDBOARD DSCVR VR headset review. #VirtualReality #VR

VR headsets are in no shortage today and we have tried quite a few with more to come in the coming weeks. It is a good thing to be able to check out a variety of headsets than being stuck with one or two so we can see the progress in the quality as time goes by and of course price which is important for the consumer, making these VR viewers affordable is something manufacturers need to get right to put it in peoples hands so to speak. Of course we can opt for the pure cardboard experience or shell out some more on more robust HMDs the choice is yours and there is plenty of it out there right now.

This time round we check out the I AM CARDBOARD DSCVR headset which is affordable and quite nice and does the job its set out to do,after testing for a few days I am happy with the product but can it last??

First of all check out the image gallery below and get an up-close and personal view of the unit. (Click to enlarge)

Having used the headset for a few days we can say its a nice job, its comfortable and there is not much too it really like any other headset thats similar, The screws i mention in video are not something we see all the time but I think they give it a nice look adding to its aesthetics and wont be an issue,it actually shows it has been constructed well and the headset is robust. The elastic band to hold your device in place is quite a neat idea and we can confirm the device is solid and will not move due the this and its rubber gasket type extra on the front of the headset. There is three buttons in total on the headset, two for releasing the extension and one to release the device should it stick, these are spring loaded and how long they will last is anyone’s guess but again i cant see any issue due to the force required to make them function. The band is also simple and effective clipping onto the top of the unit with ease and there should be great longevity in this as its tough yet thin…

The unit overall is compact and comes packed nicely in a plastic case with instructions on the back that are clear and simple to follow, also included is a cleaning cloth for the lenses which is always welcome as the lenses can fog up at times and using a cloth rather than your fingers to wipe the lenses is a better option. There is a wide variety of colours available to which is nice and something to please everyone, this is nice to see and typically many headsets come in one or two colours so again choice is a winner for the consumer.. Check out the full range of this particular unit and more right HERE…
