UNBOXING

Thoughts

This phone will cost you around €180 which is not bad for what you get. However its not for power users. Any average user will get a day out of it but for me it never happened. It sports a 2,250 mAh battery which is quite on the low side compared to whats considered the norm for a 5 inch phone which is around 3000 mAh.

Overall this phone is for someone looking to upgrade from the sub 100 euro bracket and move up a bit but you get a device that is built well all round apart from the plastic back cover which is not a deal breaker but it is slippy so keep that in mind..

The device is for basics and daily tasks like browsing, social media and emails and the camera is not bad either but I suggest to leave it in HDR mode for point and shoot with no hassle. The colours though where a bit on the saturated side but you can use other apps to add enhancements. Having said that for someone that is not photo mad and has nothing to do but post selfies all day or take a photo at each mealtime it will do the job with decent results all round keeping in mind to leave the HDR mode on all the time..

Instagram rolls out globally the Live Story feature. #Instagram #Android #IOS #Windows10

Weeks back we saw the  Instagram team announcing the global availability of its “Live Story” feature.

Originally available only in certain countries, the app is pretty much becoming a mix between Snapchat, Vine and Periscope.

The original IG Story became one of the more popular parts of the app by getting the lovely number of more than 150 million users DAILY. And now the company just want to expand the market.

You will find the option by swiping from the app and selecting “Start live video”, according to the company this way popular Instagrammers and followers can be more connected and interact with each other.

There’s a “Top Live” options to explore new and popular users, so heavy and not so heavy users can find new content, which won’t be available after the live event is finish.

Try to keep in mind that the option can now be found on every platform , so if you haven’t seen the update yet, be patient as it could take a bit before it reach your region.

The new start of the show van be found on version 10.0 and above

The HP Elite x3 now costs €958 Have they lost the plot? #HP #Windows10 #EliteX3

The HP Elite x3 launched here some months ago but only online. No network will touch this device for multiple reasons being A the price and B its running on a dying OS. You could probably included the demographic here too considered the devices intended market. We all knew that the Windows Phone platform has had it rough and even with Windows 10 things are not improving even with universal apps. Market share also is basically a handful of users compared to its rival operating systems. As a Windows Phone user I say this with regret but lets face it who in their right mind would pay that for such a phone..You can of course if you decide to buy it check out UK pricing which is not much better and still way overpriced

The Device is nice in fairness with a sturdy build but thats probably all it has going for it and you can if you want to drag out the excuse you can claim your VAT back will cost you €799 but this price still is just making an already hard sell even harder. We are talking iPhone prices here again something that is typically overpriced Disagree?? Tell us why…

Update.26/01/2017. It’s gone up again..

As you can see front the images above, the A3 variant is the only on with any kind of downgrade, but is something that you may expect for the smaller brother of the three.

The only bad thing about the newer phones sis that they come with Android 6.0 but is safe to assume Samsung will update the OS to the latest version.

All three will be available starting the Month on Russia, with more countries soon to follow in the coming weeks, but no specific date from Samsung yet.

All will be found in four-color options: Black Sky, Gold Sand, Blue Mist and Peach Cloud.

There’s no work on pricing yet, buis to be expected we’ll see them from around $350 to $490

But tell us, What do you think about the new A series 2017? Would you get one once they become available in your region?

ExoLens PRO with Optics by ZEISS for iPhone 7, NOW AVAILABLE. #iPhone

The ExoLens PRO Wide-Angle, Macro-Zoom and Telephoto lenses for iPhone 7 are all available along with an updated bracket for iPhone 7. The Wide-Angle and Telephoto lenses bring the aspherical lens technology previously reserved for high-end DSLR lenses, straight to your iPhone as a compact mobile accessory lens.

The ExoLens PRO Wide-Angle lens with Optics by ZEISS features a ZEISS Mutar™ 0.6x Asph T* Wide-Angle lens, which provides virtually no distortion and exceptional edge-to-edge contrast, resulting in an image quality that is unmatched by any other iPhone accessory lens. This lens helps professionals capture expansive scenery and immerse viewers with frame filling detail, while expanding the frame of the iPhone to see the world in a beautiful new perspective.

The ExoLens PRO Telephoto lens with Optics by ZEISS features a ZEISS Mutar™ 2.0x Asph T* Telephoto lens. The lens offers photographers a narrow shallow depth of field to add a beautiful bokeh to the background while focusing attention on the subject. The telephoto allows the contours of the face to appear more natural and closer to real life, and is ideal for portraits, street photography, or capturing events.

ExoLens PRO Macro-Zoom lens with Optics by ZEISS features the ZEISS Vario-Proxar 40-80 T* macro-zoom lens. The ZEISS Vario-Proxar 40-80 T* macro-zoom lens has a variable focal length of 40 to 80 millimeters. “In combination with the optics of the smartphone camera, turning the ring does not result in an increase or reduction of the field of view,” Optical Designer Dr. Vladan Blahnik from ZEISS explains. “Instead, the ring functions much like a manual focus with which different planes can be set. If photographers want to shoot objects that are three to five centimetres away, they turn the ring to the right as far as it will go, and to the left for objects that are five to eight centimetres away.” This allows users to capture objects measuring three to twelve centimetres filling the complete field of view and capture astonishing details beyond what is visible to the human eye to put you impossibly close to the subject.

The lenses are attached to the device-specific ExoLens® machined aluminium bracket using a screw thread. The bracket features a standard tripod mount (1/4”-20) as well as a cold shoe for mounting accessories such as microphones and lighting systems. Following the launch, ExoLens® PRO with Optics by ZEISS are now compatible with iPhone® 7, with the goal of adding more devices in the future.

The HP ELITE X3 gets a price cut. STILL too expensive. #HP #EliteX3

Only 3 weeks ago the HP Elite X3 went on sale in Ireland via the HPshop and was commanding a rather ridiculous €907 price tag which included VAT and shipping..Given the market this is aimed at it will be an uphill struggle to sell this device for anything over €500 now with the current market share as is an a year decline for the last few years its going to be a hard sell end of story… Even given the specs it commands this is Apple territory pricing and the only way to get it is to buy it outright as NO networks sell nor will they which again is smothering any potential…

Now the device is listed at €694 plus VAT and shipping costs and brings the total to €865.98 which saves you a little but for me this is still way to high for a Windows10 powered device in which the market is shedding users whom are moving to either Android or iOS.. Not to be totally against the device it is certainly one nice looking phone with a quality build but the price is a huge caveat for me.

Want to buy it? Apparently they have now 385 in stock.. Apparently!!!   Buy it HERE

Samsung realeased a Blue Coral version of their #GalaxyS7edge. #Android #GalaxyS7

Samsung lovers out there ended up with a broken hear after the Note7 fiasco. Some of them swiched to another company, others who remained with the brand and went for a Galazy S7 or S7 EDGE instead.

Well, now that everything has settled down and we all know the Note 7 is not coming back, the company decided this is a time to give a bonus to those loyal costumers letting them have that elusive and attractive Blue Coral color scheme on their phones.

There’s nothing really special about this S7 series besides the color, the same hardware we all know and love.

Great camera, performance, battery… Etc, but what brough you here wasn’t that. It was the chance of having something different than the rest.

Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen soon, The device is going to be launch in Taiwan by November 1st and in Singapore by the 5th.

There’s no news about availability regarding other countries but we can expect that to happen, especially thanks to the great demand that color had with the Note7.

In case you can’t wait for them to realased over our shores and you don’t mind importing, the price will be NT$24,900 ($790) which is, (to be honest) a bit higher considering the only change is a paint job.

But you tell us, Will you go for this phone just because a new color option? Do you still think the S7 EDGE is the phone to beat this year?

Google’s new Pixel phones turn out to come with IPXX rating #Google #Pixel

Just this week we were showing the new phones for “Android Purist” right after the official unveiling.

But today we learnt something about them that was completely omitted during the presentation and even on the official specs page from Google. Come to think of it there was a few more things left out..

Both the Pixel and Pixel XL come with IP53 (Water and Dust Resistance)

Apparently this was clarifed by Google to Droidpolice,  but we wonder why they skipped it during the presentation.

Although this is good, don’t get to exited about it, IP53 doesn’t mean you can go and start filming underwater shots with your phone. Actually, it is only protected against little rain and some dust ingress.

Which is not bad but I’d be careful anyway to not get near water with these two.

What do you think of this? Will this make you get into the Pixels wagon? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
