Tech Review – JBL Reflect Aero TWS

Next up in the JBL product reviews is one their latest earbuds the Reflect Aero TWS which have been with us some time now and taken on hols as part of my review pack which contained plenty of tech, so much for taking a break aye.. However it is what I do and love it and love having that opportunity to do so and with a pack full of JBL good which was not planned it was a time to test out what the company has to offer and see how they have progressed and they certainly have done so.

These were unboxed so you can see that here and now we will go on to talk about them and how I found them during my break away, these are a pair of earbuds for those who enjoy music and calls on the go as for me I like to enjoy my music at home and away but of course has to take many calls too so they suited me fine and got the job done.

These have a wing build in for better fit though some with smaller ears may find it a bit challenging especially if you are not use to wearing such earbuds, they are also great for training it must be added which I kept some of that up in my break too and worked well and never fell out. You again have the option to use the Check my best fit in the app which you should do anyway.

There is plenty of mics on board here to 6 in total, 6 mics with voice aware for calls and True adaptive noise cancelling with 4 mics and all in all calls have been excellent and being splash and dustproof  (IP68) which for me on the beach was a gift they fit the bill for a complete package on holidays and I would suggest these to those who travel and want the most protection and features in one pair of earbuds.

The controls are easy to use to with a nice large touch sensitive area to perform your command which makes it easier than most, we of course go through all those features in the app and show you what to expect in the video review below and overall again a great app here to give you the full control of the earbuds rather than have a stock experience and this is prevalent in many if not all of the new JBL range now with some differences with the app vs the product but you will get to see all those soon. You do have ANC ambient and talk through present here which having that trio of options makes them a really viable pair of earbuds to have at your disposal and all of which can be controlled.

Overall the sound here was a bit brighter than other JBL earbuds but good in general and highs lows and mids were fine nice bass no muffled sound on maxed out volume and for all genres good and with the app you again as mentioned can control what suits your needs as everyone’s ears differ.

Battery life is also good here with them having fast charge on board which means a 15 min charge gives you a whopping 4 hours of use which is great you will get 7 + 14 with ANC and 8 + 16 with adaptive so there is plenty in the tank to start your day. You also get fast pair and Google Assistant which in JBLs latest line up allows you to have text and emails read out to you which is really cool.

Overall a great pair of earbuds that offer something for those who want that bit more than an average pair of earbuds and covers everything for calls music protection and more.

Tech Review – Tranya F1 earbuds and get a 50% discount with (Jim50) @TranyaOfficial

Tranya is another brand we have worked with for some years now and their products to date have been solid and long lasting and they bring decent audio products to customers at affordable prices, the latest pair we have been testing called the F1 are no different and come with a cool case that has charging indicator on the front which is cool and gives you an idea what is going on rather than waiting around.

The case that comes with these os larger than the pixel buds cases you would of seen us review and looks a bit similar but larger and a glossy finish and fits well in the pocket too it also has a USB-C charging port with up to 25 hrs listening time in total and around 7 hrs per charge you also get wireless charging which I am a fan of in general with my tech products.

The graphene drivers here are 13 mm and deliver good sound there is no app for these earbuds which is fine and the deliver on sound with decent volume and a touch of bass, they are well balanced in my opinion with no distortion at maxed out volume highs lows and mids are fine and overall great and very centred so for music videos and more all wasa good audio experince, now for the gamers there is a gamer mode present here too which is no becoming a common feature here and all was with fine no lag latency noted and the same was found in general use.

Tranya F1 true wireless earbuds – techbuzzireland

I like the controls on these earbuds, you could call them airpods look alikes but sure look how many are not these days also the stem is shorter and a bit thicker and they fit well in the ears and will not fall out either, the controls work really well and are not touch based so with the button in place it makes it much easier getting the command done and we show you all this in the full video review below and for me this is would be a more favourable approach for users over the touch option you see most days now.

Overall these are again a great pair of earbuds from the company and I had no issues with them during my test period and the fact you have a gaming mode built in with a LCD display and wireless charging they offer that bit more than others in this price range and do sound good.

Strauss & Wagner EM205 Wired Earbuds with 3.5mm Connection and Mic+Remote

The Strauss & Wagner  EM205 Wired Earbuds with a 3.5mm connection are designed for use with portable devices and HiFi systems, ( Albeit will connect to laptops with a suitable 3.5mm connection) The 3.5mm connection is the only feature difference from the Strauss & Wagner EM8C USB-C earbuds previously reviewed at TechBuzz in which we went into more details on the specifications on the EM8C USB-C review

Features:

Standard 3.5mm plug for use with desktop and mobile devices

Three-button remote with volume and playback adjustment, as well as a microphone for calls and voice commands

The integrated microphone allows for clearer audio quality thanks to a sensitivity of -43 dB

Includes: three sizes of silicone ear tips for personalized comfort plus a carry pouch

  •       Frequency Response   20Hz-20kHz
  •       Impedance      32Ω
  •       Sensitivity        108dB
  •       Microphone    -43dB
  •       Driver 9mm
  •       Cable Length  43″
  •       Warranty         1 year

Setup and use:

The setup for mobile devices being connected with a cable required no software updates ensuring e.g., Bluetooth turned on or the need to download a specific app for the earphones. When connected to a standard windows laptop, windows drivers picked up the device and audio worked,

Note: when connected to the laptop the audio worked as expected, with excellent quality while the Volume Up / Down etc did not work, (this may have been down to the divers on the laptop requiring updating) while this product is expected to connect, without any intervention.  When connected to a mobile device the volume etc worked as expected.

Overall.

The Strauss & Wagner EM205 Wired Earbuds differ from the EM8C as comes with a 3.5 mm connection vs the USB C on the EM8C. Both have excellent call quality while do not filter out background noises to the level of more specialised earphones when on calls. The EM8C appears geared towards laptop use with the functionally working seamlessly when used on e.g., MS teams calls vs the EM205 which did not adjust the audio by default.  The wired earphones do not come with all the bells and whistles of ANC, hear through, apps tailored to specific-tailed music rather an uncomplicated approach of plug-in, listen to your audio and it works. Should the earphones be used for a work laptop, typically company security policy blocks many ports or Bluetooth devices, the use of the 3.5 mm plug can bypass this without the risks.

The wired approach removes the complications of battery life, software updates, latency, compatibility etc of Bluetooth earphones. The earphones are designed to last with the option to reasonably purchase replacement ear tips should the need be required.

As with the EM8C review, an impressive audio experience from wired earbuds that are fractionally cheaper than the EM8C but provide the same uncomplicated audio quality without breaking the bank.

Tech Review – Creative Stage Air V2 soundbar

The soundbar is now a popular piece of tech buy for their homes to enhance their audio experince no matter what it may be connected to, you can buy for your TV PC and more and small size on like what we have here today is just as ideal if you are on a budget and do not want an oversized one which some folk are fussy about.

We tested this one with a laptop and phone and of course as expected it blows your default speakers out of the water and a nice thump of bass thrown in for good measure, now you are limited with i/o ports and no HDMI so keep that in mind before buying as often it can be the case people think a HDMI port comes in all soundbars when it does not and this is targeted at a different audience but can be used anywhere still and is portable.

This soundbar has a comprehensive connectivity profile for compatible devices (which include PC, Mac, PS5, Nintendo Switch, mobile devices) – users can conveniently connect a single USB cable for audio and power, or revert to the trusty 3.5mm port for analogue connectivity. It also delights as a wireless speaker, featuring the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology with six hours of playback on a single charge.

There is no app or anything here to control the EQ but most products like this are the same apart from some gaming options from the brand which are super cool. This is a simple plug and play and it does the job with a nice glossy finish and metal finished grill up from, it is a fingerprint magnet but once settled in place you have no real need to touch the front or sides as the controls are on the side of the unit.

This could be also used a general speaker in the house be it your bedroom living room or kitchen too and easily fills a room, check out the video for samples below and if you are on a bit of a budget and tied up for space and want a better audio experience at home this should be on your list.

Tech Review – Skullcandy Inequality Crusher Evo headphones

Ok so the Skullcandy Inequality Crusher have been here a few weeks now and to cut to the chase there is no difference between old and new, the only thing here is the colour. For me I liked the colour as I like things that stand out and again quite a few people asked why companies are getting involved in gender / politics  so to speak, my answer was as is in the about us section is we do not use our site to share or promote any religion or politics and it stands given there is a reason behind these we are reviewing them on how they sound and I happen to like the looks which you could say is being a bit of a hypocrite but if you want to know my political views or anything else you can find that on my personal facebook page or on Twitter where I have my say and not controlled or afraid to say anything either but less of that and more on the product then. You can read the press release here about the new coloured headphones and check out the unboxing HERE with a side by side view of the OG version.

Ok so we have the same as before but now different colours here that stand out, now for those who are not aware of what these headphones have that separates them from others is the sensory bass that is adjustable and this still has not been seen elsewhere yet at least to the best of my knowledge. It is something you need to try and feel, one example of an idea what it is about is the woojer strap which is another cool product for those who want more and to feel immersed.

Moving on then about how they sound, they are excellent to cut to the chase you can see more in our Skullcandy Crusher EVO OG review HERE and nothing has change but for those who have been thinking about them should look at the review and the app which is also excellent and again we do the same in the video review below so do check it out and get a feel for what to expect if you decide to pick a pair up..

Overall the audio experience is great the headphones are comfortable they are easy to use they have super bass and also an app to enhance the experience  and forget about the outside world when the volume is raised to the max.

• Crusher adjustable Sensory Bass

Tech Review – House of Marley Redemption ANC 2 True Wireless Earbuds And New App

The House Of Marley Redemption ANC 2 true wireless have been tested out the last while and we have come to our conclusions and for the most it is good and expected from the brand and in true form they turned heads when worn out here locally and this brand does really well here it must be said.

The charging case and earbuds keep the traditional bamboo effect keeps its presence here which is nice and of course the case has wireless charging which is great, but not only that there is a brand new app which is very good and a must have for earbuds in my opinion to give the user more control and of course features which these do.

These have a small stem and fit really well in the ears and of course there is several tips to pick from and it is always important to get the right seal to get the best audio experience and with the new app to test it is vital in this case as it is a good audio experience.

Ok so lets get onto the new app which is great and detailed in the video review below and as you will see packed with options from controls to different audio settings, Here is where I found one issue which I think can be settle with a software update and it is the bass booster setting as it sounded a bit muffled maxed out on volume but the rest worked fine and delivered a great audio experience overall and I can’t fault anywhere else being honest. The controls on the earbuds work really well it must be said.

Seamlessly switch between Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Ambient mode to take control of your noisy environment at the tap of your finger. Enjoy six hours of playtime and three additional charges from the charging case for over 24 hours of listening

Calls are also fine yet sound deep but that is fine and clear both ends which is cool, you of course have access to your voice assistant and you have got ambient controls here too, battery life is decent and in real life usage for me using ANC you can expect 5.5 hrs of time and one thing to note is the notable difference between the sound profiles unlike others which there is hardly any difference between them.

Redemption ANC 2 – techbuzzireland

Overall the audio experience is enjoyable and they work well for gaming and movies too an no lag latency noted either if you are a house of marley fan they should be on your list if you are on the lookout for new earbuds

Tech Review – Fitbit Sense

I have several smart watches or as some call them “wearables” and to rub it in more they are called data trackers which in fairness is true and like any product you buy the same words are used and regardless the thoughts and the facts you are always the product which also applies to apps but in recent time we have seen how much smart watches and similar products are now taking more information and it is not just to serve you ads but that is life today and only you can take control of this.

I do like to have a nice watch on my arm and for the most do so if not bought by myself or sent for review as in this case and it is a rare occasion when I say I will buy this later which applies here given this is not a fully fledged wearable that can keep you away from your phone, it is a fitness tracker all the same and not sold as a fully featured wearable which I am more use to wearing.

As mentioned in the unboxing this is actually my first fitbit and people have asked why this is the case, well I never asked for one or looked for one given we should have been on their radar but again it is what it is and that has changed and I am glad I had the opportunity to test this one out taking into account what is missing from what I am used to having on my wrist but I do have other similar products here that offer even less and it gives me a better look at what is on offer here and what people can pick from which is more than ever now on how products are targeted on people these days.

Ok so a few weeks ago I did a quick unboxing of the Sense blended in with the new sleep profile which you can see here and while I am here on the sleep matter I never wear a watch to bed no matter how good it is or how it looks so for me it was not really an option for me to use I did opt in for the 6 months premium trial whilst testing again not much of benefit to me but can see how it would be ideal for others as most of my friends wear fitbits or Apple watch and as mentioned I have several and being frank never get the full potential due to my wearing habits.

First thing I will say the design is great and the watch itself is a superb build and took to me more than expected and with the colour strap on my review unit, many people asked including my fitbit fanatics and they were also impressed with this model and the strap and as a first time fitbit user it grew on me each day with its looks and its simple UI and the build quality and it is something I would recommend for those who need such or intend to up their game or fitbit device as none have this model here bit those slim ones or cheaper options available. So for the 4 weeks I tested it you can see the results below.

Now I am a bit of a lazy git and like all watches do not put them on first thing in the mornings and work from home alot now and not out that much which is probably not the best route in life to take but I earned few badges during the time I tested alongside the countless emails you get from them but you can opt out but as testing you have to see what is in store and not only that it is good for pushing you too if you want to change your lifestyle or goals..

As mentioned the UI is simple and so the app is also great for getting things done and keeping an eye on things and of course setting your own personal goals which mostly for me is steps and keeping an eye on my heart rate etc, I do cycle quite a bit and do some exercise some of which not recorded here as you can see some half day recordings noted and as mentioned again I often forget to put the watch on no matter what watch but I will not hide the fact either.

The app has lots on offer and I found it great for basically recording everything so you can keep track of what is going on and what needs to be done, some might find it intrusive and nosey with your location data as said at the top of the review but that is how things work and being honest there is only so much even will lend to these companies and that is a personal choice but I think many would agree too.

Now again I did not fill in everything every day as I find that tedious personally but you get the idea of what is on offer here and as said the UI is easy to use and there is much more, You can avail of a get active programme  challenges and adventures even get fit bingo you have assessments and reports then you also have the expected clocks and apps section to play around with to customise you watch which is essential for me and workouts there is also mindfulness options Nutrition and guided programmes along with get more sleep, now I always had a sleeping issue and nothing really works for me and I have to live with that myself and there is a community tab plus then your premium features much of which is mentioned above.

Now you have ECG on this device too which is a great addition to have, you also have skin sensors stress management and breathing sensors and of course fitbit pay all competing against other similar products but you pay much less here compared to Apple watch for example.

The battery is another thing to point out here which is one of the best out there beside withings scanwatch which I currently use, I did have the Apple watch series 7 but that was woeful on battery it must be said although a nice watch and here with the fitbit sense which this is competing with I find more value for less money although short of notifications on your wrist and taking calls but this watch is not aimed at that and the price justification for Apple is still not acceptable and I guess different strokes for different folks as the saying goes but fitbit could and can do more I think in this department and still costing much less than its rivals.

There is enough information at a glance here but when it comes to notifications it was the bare minimum like you would find on cheaper watches but again I accept who this watch is for and from trying many watches I get it but would like to have seen more in this department which keeps me off my phone which I practice alot these days. You do have options to do quick and voice replies which is not so bad. And I do like the Amoled corning glass 3 display.

Overall there is more to like about the fitbit sense than dislike if you are into certain features or require them even for me that wanted more being use to having it settled for it over time and it grew on me and it also looks great which is an important factor for me and has everything fitness you need to keep an eye on your health.

Tech Review – TUDIA Dual Shield Merge Grip case for the Google Pixel 6a

Fancy a new case for the Google PIxel 6a well they are far and few between here in Ireland and we have one you could check out from TUDIA products which comes in a nice range of colours and does a superb job of protecting the device with a neat look too.

This case not only protects the rear of the phone and the camera hump this also has a lip around the front all round protecting the device even more and enabling you to place it face down, some case fail at this point only half covering the front but not the case here.

The back has really nice texture to it and looks well giving you additional grip as the Pixel 6a is a bit on the slippery side and having this case install eliminates this and more as you will see in the video review below, the buttons are also tactile and clicky which is what I like and overall the feeling with this case on the device is good and gives you that extra layer of security should you drop your phone and we all know that can be an expensive drop.

All ports are also accessible here and more room given for the USB port which again some leave out for certain charging cables that have a thicker end.

Check the video for a full hands on review

  • The Google Pixel 6a case is compatible with Pixel 6a only.
  • Certified military-grade protection and Tough Rhino Technology for dual layer protection against drops and scratches.
  • Protects your camera and screen with raised lips and edges.
  • The non-slip textured design on the back provides additional grip while holding your phone.
  • Buttons are designed to be slim and easily clickable for stress-free usage.

Overall

The connection via the USB C connection was seamless for an android phone and laptop. The volume with a Sensitivity of 108dB allowed for extremely high pitch audio with limited distortion, this is the cable for the low and higher specification of the responses of 20Hz-20kHz which is in line with higher-end product ranges. The bass is noted as commanding yet on the higher audio levels not distorted as may be expected from smaller earphones. As with all earphones, it is endorsed

sound levels between 60 and 85 decibels to minimise the damage to your ears while on the higher-level power 100 decibels, this should be reduced to 15 mins listening. The microphone on numerous phone calls and MS teams calls has given honest feedback, while does not filter out background noise as done with a more specialised kit, this can be observed when typing on a keyboard the taps can be heard at the other end. The carrying pouch while good to have offers little protection in terms of damages when in a pocket or laptop bag. The remote is effective in its use but takes a bit of practice to become familiar with the accept / reject calls click required.  Overall, an impressive audio experience from Wired earbuds with a Type-C connection without the requirement to pay for a high-end earphone.
