Apple Watch now available to pick up in stores,but not Ireland. #Apple

Apple has signalled that the highly priced watch will be now available to pick up in store,for Irish buyers that’s not the case but for the UK its a green light.Irish buyers still have to use the usual channels to get their hands on the gadget.With some luck that MIGHT change as apple seems to have sorted out their inventory of stock but I doubt it will,so its up to the north or use parcel motel,or if your are going to be in the UK over the coming weeks you can do so there,or again have a family member or friend ship one on your behalf.

Bogus Apple emails continue to flow be warned. #Apple #Phishing #Scams

With phishing attempts now nearly a daily occurrence for some its likely these guys will catch people out and the fact of the matter is they do so it means we have to more vigilant and just use common sense,given that these are a daily occurrence the thing is they are getting better and redirecting takes you to almost identical pages from the official website..

You can also take note of the URL that will be in your address bar at the top of the page,a similar incident below is one example of a recent phishing attempt.If you get a suspicious email always check the website which most will be familiar with and check the URL better again just delete the email just to be safe.

We are custom to seeing the Google car every now and then with cameras on tow,mind you not seen any of late but now we are going to see Apples cars here in an effort to gather mapping data in which it really needs as its maps fall behind its stance compared to HERE and Google Maps..

Apple is driving vehicles around the world to collect data which will be used to improve Apple Maps. Some of this data will be published in future Apple Maps updates.

Apple today have announced new availability of the much anticipated wrist wear which is still not available in Ireland,this certainly has annoyed potential customers who are waiting to buy the highly priced kit from Apple,since its available in the UK and up North and Apple have a base in Ireland its rather annoying for many.


“The response to Apple Watch has surpassed our expectations in every way, and we are thrilled to bring it to more customers around the world,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s senior vice president of Operations. “We’re also making great progress with the backlog of Apple Watch orders, and we thank our customers for their patience. All orders placed through May, with the sole exception of Apple Watch 42 mm Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet, will ship to customers within two weeks. At that time, we’ll also begin selling some models in our Apple Retail Stores.”

Man fined for using his Apple Watch whilst driving. #Apple #Watch

Jeffrey Macesin is believed to be first person fined for using Apple Watch while driving, but plans to appeal as he claims it’s not a handheld device. It was a matter of time really and with new laws it wont be the last time it happens.

The Telegraph reports….

Jeffrey Macesin, from Pincourt, Quebec, in Canada, was given a $120 (£63) penalty and four points on his licence after police spotted him using the gadget to change a song that was playing on his iPhone.

“I have it in the bag charging while the auxiliary cable is plugged in to the radio and this controls my phone to play the music,” he told CTV Montreal. “So I was changing songs with my hand on the steering wheel.”

“Going towards Vaudreuil [a city west of Montreal], there was a cop car behind me and he didn’t have his lights on yet. Then he turned them on and I thought maybe he just wanted me to get out of the way. I was just confused.”

He is appealing against the fine and penalty points because his device was on his wrist and not in his hand.

“It’s not so much handheld. It’s a watch. It’s on my wrist. That’s where it gets controversial. It’s like, ‘Is it? Is it not?’ but I think this needs to be talked about.”

Woman recycles rare Apple – 1 computer unknowingly,large cheque awaits. #Apple

A $100,000 (£65,380) cheque awaits a mystery woman who unknowingly donated one of Apple’s first pre-assembled computers.

Sky news reports.

A recycling firm in Silicon Valley is searching for a woman who dropped off a rare Apple-1 computer that fetched $200,000 (£131,000) at auction.

The woman, believed to be in her 60s, donated electronic items to CleanBayArea in Milpitas, California, in April.

Included in the boxes of computer parts was a 1976 Apple-1, the recycling company’s vice president Victor Gichun told NBC News.

 

She did not leave her name nor fill out a tax receipt for the donations, he said.

Mr Gichun is hoping to find the woman to give her a $100,000 cheque – half of what the computer fetched in a private auction.

The recycler’s policy is to split the proceeds with the person who donated the equipment.

“Tell this lady to please come over to our warehouse in Milpitas again,” Mr Gichun said.

Apple issue a temporary fix for sms bug. #Apple #Bug #Sms

Of late there has been a bug going around where an sms in Arabic has been causing peoples iphones to shut down and Apple have made some suggestions to fix the issue for the time being.

An Apple spokesman said: Apple is aware of an iMessage issue caused by a specific series of unicode characters and we will make a fix available in a software update. Until the update is available, you can use these steps to re-open the Messages app.

Ask Siri to “read unread messages”

Use Siri to reply to the malicious message. After you reply, you’ll be able to open Messages again

In Messages, swipe left to delete the entire thread. Or tap and hold the malicious message, tap More, and delete the message from the thread.
