Casio announces new smartwatch with Android Wear 2.0. #CES2017 #Smartwach #Android #Casio

We still have more news from CES2017 although there’s no the same amount of smartphones as before, we knew we could find some wearable tech.

When Google announced Android Wear 2.0 we weren’t sure about which company will show out of the ordinary, but Casio made an interesting presentation by giving us the second gen of their previous rugged Smartwatch, enter the WSD-F20 or :

Pro Trek

As its predecessor, comes with MIL-STD-810G rating, which means that is capable of withstand almost anything you’re willing to do with it.

After all, is specifically made for outdoors adventurers.

The same impressive and interesting Dual-Layer Display makes a comeback with more faces to choose and an additional GPS Sensor (something we miss on the previous generation) that offer low power consumption and Offline and Colored maps to use even if you phone ran out of battery.

It will come with Casio’s apps to track and keep control on your activities, but we a new one call Location and Traveler that became available thanks to the new components.

But there’ll be more apps to expect thanks to Android Wear 2.0 (also compatible with iOS despite some limitations)

There’s only one flaw, and is that is only going to be available on April 21st and we still have no information about pricing, but we can assume it’ll be pretty close to previous offers.

What are your thoughts on the new iteration from Casio? Adding that GPS will make you decide for this model over other options out there?

Samsung unveils the #GearS3 Frontier and Classic #Smartwatch. #IFA2016 #Samsung

So here we are once more with the latest news about tech during the IFA 2016, and as we were expecting Samsung was one of the first manufacturers to offer some new goodies to consumers.

Enter the new Gear S3 smartwatch

The GS3 will be available in two variants, one for the outdoor adventurous called Frontier

and another for the more conservatives called Classic

This time, Samsung went all in by using their own OS to power this devices. Tizen is a truly unique platform that seems to work better with wearable tech that anything else.

Both of them look and feel more like a normal watch than previous generations, probably due the bigger display and thicker structure. Also being waterproof with IP68 gives a sense of tranquility when using them outdoor or under heavy rain.

Onto the screens, both are covered by Gorilla Glass SR+, which was specifically designed for better clarity and improved scratch resistance. Also, there’s a new “Always on display” that will show the full color watchface.

Maybe it doesn’t look as a big upgrade just from the outside, but take a look at internals and is a whole different history

As you can see, packs anything you could ask for, even a GPS to work on its own when no phone is around, also this devices will have a LTE option as well.

We suspect the bigger battery was added to accommodate the new AOD feature but Samsung has add a few extra battery saver modes to improve it, one of which will turn your fancy new smartwatch in a “dumbwatch” that will only show you the time.

Although you can activated whenever you want, it will automatically active itself when the battery drops till 5%.

Sales are expected to star in October, mostly for the BT only variant with the LTE version coming shortly after.

The Frontier will come with 2 silicone bands (one large, one small) while the Classic will come with a leather band (as you could imagine).

Cost will be around €399..Ouch…

What are your thougths on these? Will you upgrade your smartwatch game if you already have the GS2? Or will you jump on it?

Sounds off below or join us on twitter

Samsung Officially confirms they will have the Gear S3 by the end of month. #Smartwatch #GearS3

Thanks to an IFA invite, we confirmed Samsung’s new Smartwatch is just around the corner.

Although the event will take place in Berlin,  today the company shows everyone  that the Gear S3 will be unveiled on August 31st, a couple of days ahead of the main IFA presentation.

The Gear S3 is said to come in three variants, whether we’ll see a bigger display is still unknown, but we can expect the same rotary bezel found on previous generations.

Are you exited to get the next Smartwatch of the company? Will you upgrade over the S2?

TAG Heuer Joins the Smartwatch club By @VicenteA_George #smartwatch #tagheuer

According to Reuters, TAG Heuer smartwatch should be announced today (March 19). The device will be a digital version of the “TAG Heuer Carrera”, one of the company’s best selling timepieces.

UPDATED

Guy Sémon, General Manager of TAG Heuer added: “The quality of Swiss watches is renowned worldwide. When this is allied with the creative technology and global power of two companies like Intel and Google, using the Android Wear platform and based on Intel technology, we can see the launch of a technological revolution in our industry, of which I am proud to be a pioneer today with TAG Heuer.”

David Singleton noted, “By fusing beauty with technology, the Swiss watch has inspired generations of artists and engineers alike—including us at Google. So we’re thrilled to be working with TAG Heuer and Intel to bring a unique blend of emotion and innovation to the luxury market. Together, and using the Android Wear platform, we can imagine a better, beautiful, smarter watch.”

The Swiss watchmaker has partnered with Intel to work on the new smartwatch (although it’s unclear if it would run Android Wear, but that’s the most likely OS choice) to compete with the Apple Watch.

TAG Heuer Chief Executive Office Jean-Claude Biver told Reuters:

“People will have the impression that they are wearing a normal watch,”

There is no word about price or when the TAG Heuer smartwatch will be released. But they should hurry up, the Apple Watch is target to April 24 and the pre-orders start at April 10.

P.D The intro photo is special edition of the Aquaracer Caliber 72 for the America’s Cup 2013. With this watch, the crew of the Oracle team had real time access to the boat’s speed, foil balance, sail pressure, and wind characteristics. Each watch was customised to the needs of the individual crew member.

Stay tuned for more info about price and availability.
