Project Skybender is Google’s new aim to #5G internet By @VicenteA_George #Google

The internet giant known as Google, develop its business through the internet therefore they are the most interested on having more people using it.

There is where this new project comes in, meet Skybender

Something that you may not know is the fact that even in 2016 only 40% of world population have internet access, reason why, enterprises like Nokia (before and now) and Google are doing their best to improve this situation.

Recently “The Guardian” found out they are testing Solar powered drones to deliver internet access all over the world is a secret project codename “Skybender”.

Building their own prototype transceivers and drones Google experiment with millimetre-wave radio transmissions, this technology can THEORETICALLY transmit up to 40 times more data than current 4G/LTE networks.

This idea was born under the same roof as Project Loon which have the same principle but with self powered balloons, thing that has cause some inconvenience as they enter restricted air zones ending in a not so nice situation.

The improve idea has also newer carriers, in this case the responsible for delivering the data will be a drone and no a common one, Meet the Solara 50, a solar powered drone that’s almost as big as a plane, literally speaking.

This will granted better data transfer rates, as the technology use at the moment has a short range compare to normal cellular signals.

The testing is being held at New Mexico’s desert in Virgin Galactic’s Gateway and we expect to have more details about this new project as well updates about Project Loon in the coming months.

What do you think of this? Are you agree on having drones flying all over? Leave your thoughts on the comment section below.

The Google Pixel C is finally available for purchase from the Google Store By VicenteA_George #PixelC #Android #Google

Announced way back at September alongside the new Nexus devices, this is not the first time you heard about the Android Notebook-Tablet hybrid from Google

The curious Pixel C

As you can imagine is like the classic tablet with a detachable keyboard but on this occasion the bottom portion is bonded through magnets instead of ports.

Here we have the promo video to help you remind a little

As you can see one the the highlights of the tablet is owning a Tegra X1 processor, which promise to give that extra smooth feeling to your gaming.

The rest of the specs are pretty solid as expected with a 10″ screen with 2560 by 1800 pixels and an interesting 1:√2 aspect ratio, Camera combo, a USB Type-C, 3GB of RAM an 32GB or 64GB of storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The device itself is pretty interesting but unfortunately the prices are a bit of a downside being asked  $499 for the 32GB model or $599 for the 64GB plus the $150 for the keyboard you’ll ended up with pretty much enough to buy a full Windows 10 Notebook.

But if you really want to try one and are a diehard Android fan this is your chance to get to get the job done.

At the moment, the Google Pixel C is available in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the USA.

#LG announces the all metal made LG Class By @VicenteA_George #Android #LGClass

We’ve heard a lot about this “all metal” LG phone is the past days, but today LG Korea has made it official.

Introducing the LG Class

With all the bells and whistles we’ve heard about a new “Top of the Line” phone from LG the expectation grows for today possible announce of the rumored G4 Note, but what we have if a mid-range phone with a “premium” look.

The Class combine what we love the most about LG design language and that premium feel that All Metal phones have.

Take a look a the specs:

Screen: 5″ inch (1280 x 720)

Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 410

RAM: 2 GB

Memory: 16 GB with 2TB external SD card support

Front Camera: 8MP

Rear Camera: 13MP

Battery: 2.050 mAh (Non removable)

Size: 141 x 71,8 x 7,4 mm

OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop with LG UX 4 on top

Connections: 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi,1W Speaker, FM Radio

There you have it, if you want a “Premium Looking” phone but are in a budget the Class is your better call.

The downside of the story is the fact of the Class being sold in Korea exclusively at the moment, with no info about whether or not is going to be available overseas.

Although you can find the phone at the local market, you can buy the phone unlock and use it (needs to check carrier bands though) for just €301 or $339

Even though the nice look and feel of the phone, the internal are not so premium at that price tag could be a little excessive.

What do you think? Is it “good looking” enough to bring it home from abroad?

#Google #Microsoft #Mozilla & #Netflix are just some members of “AllianceForOpenMedia” By @VicenteA_George #Media #Codecs

We live in an age when almost everything is located on Internet and every day more and more of our Media are at some point, unplayable due to some “Format Restriction” of any kind.

Well, soon that’s about to end thanks to the recently announced Alliance for Open Media.

Starting on September 1st Seven of the most greatest Media creator have created this “Justice League” of Formats and Codecs for video and media in general.

“The Open and royalty-free format for next-generation
ultra high definition media”

Amazon, Cisco, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Mozilla and Netflix have made partnership into this Open-Source Project to reach to ultimate goal of “develop next-generation media formats, codecs and technologies in the public interest.”

Something that really complicate media consumption in the format of the video we’re trying to see.

For example:

For using MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 formats, a royalty must be paid to MPEG LA.

Mozilla has Daala

Google is has on VP9 and 10

Etc.

That’s why should not come as surprise that this guys wanna save some money and as result we have a more persistent and pleasant usability of video formats.

What they want to do as main task is to create media:

Interoperable and open.

Optimized for the web.

Scalable to any modern device at any bandwidth.

Designed with a low computational footprint and optimized for hardware.

Capable of consistent, highest-quality, real-time video delivery.

Flexible for both commercial and non-commercial content, including user-generated content.

(Something worth the mention is Apple absence in the group, which is easily explainable.

Apple owns QuickTime and they need to pay anyone to implement videos on  iTunes or Apple TV.)

The license name will be Apache 2.0 and will work under the W3C patent rules.

If you want to know more about the project you can go HERE or follow them at @a4omedia

Project Tango getting close to reality by @Tiwaash #ProjectTango #Google #Intel

Earlier this year we heard some news about Google and Project Tango with some great features. Intel and Google have come together and developed a Project Tango smartphone that uses Intel’s Real Sense 3D camera technology. The company unveiled the Project Tango developer kit for Android smartphones utilizing RealSense at the Intel Developer Forum 2015.

Google’s Project Tango that graduated from ATAP in February this year and became an official Google Project, combines the camera, gyroscope, and accelerometer to estimate six degree of freedom motion tracking, providing developers the ability to track 3D motion of a device while simultaneously creating a map of the environment.

Earlier in May, Google said that Qualcomm Snapragon 810-powered Project Tango smartphone will come in Q3 2015. However, Intel did not mention any specific date for the smartphone at the event. The company said that developer kits will begin shipping to Android developers at the end of this year.

The smartphone features a 6-inch display and has a number of cameras at the back, which makes it possible to scan the room in 3D in real time. Intel first announced its RealSense sensor for mobile phones in April this year. The smartphone will be useful for virtual reality, augmented reality and digital mapping as well.

#Google gets new CEO as Co-founders experiment with new venture, #Alphabet by @Tiwaash

Sundar Pichai, the man who has long been the senior vice president of products like Chrome and Android will now serve as the CEO of Google and will take on the position earlier helmed by Larry Page. Confused?? This is true that Google now has a new CEO to care of the operations, thinking of what’s going on in Google?? Well, Google has restructured and the founders have a new venture Alphabet.

Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are starting a new company called Alphabet. While there’s nothing very remarkable in that, the real bombshell is that Google will now be rolled under Alphabet alongside other more ‘risky’ ventures. Under Alphabet, Google is expected to be a leaner entity with a focus on the core products that the company is famous for.

Larry Page will take over as CEO of Alphabet, Sergey Brin will function as the President and current Google Chairman, Eric Schmidt, will be presiding as the executive chairman of Alphabet. All in all, the move while surprising is certainly very interesting and might we say good for business as well as investors.

Alphabet will act as an umbrella corporation for ventures like Nest, Google X, Google Fibre amongst others. For quite sometime, the search giant has been gaining mass in the form of acquisitions like Nest, Calico and home grown ventures like Fibre, Fi. Under the newly streamlined company, these add-ons that have been acquired will be spun off from Google and will operate as individual companies under Alphabet. Here onwards, Google will focus on its core competencies like search, advertising, maps, Android and Youtube.

By removing the bread and butter generating company from the equation, Larry Page & Sergey Brin are free to explore risky moonshot ventures without jeopardizing Google itself. We’ll just have to wait and watch how this one shapes out.
