Review – The Garmin 65W Dashcam. #Garmin #dashcams #motoring

I have said it before and will say it again everyone should have a dashcam,In fact they should be a standard in every car and car manufacturers should be lining up dashcam makers to have theirs installed but no. However insurance costs here are rediculous and even recently the AA say the cost has come down, I would love to see where they got that form.

Anyway rant over I am going to talk about the Garmin 65W dashcam which is small and compact and offers lots of features and for its size I was impressed and its capabilities and its also a solid piece too which would withstand a few drops should you be moving from vehicle to vehicle which I would do..

First up check out the unboxing video below

The build quality here is great to begin with and its a robust unit, On the front we have a small screen which is 2.0 inches which is the smallest screen we have tested but its clear and readable which is important and notifications are loud and visible, more on that later. On the righ side we have 4 circular buttons which are easy to navigate, even when not looking. On the display beside the sceen these buttons are indexed with power on/off/back which is the top one and then consecutively UP-DOWN and take shot with the bottom key, this autosaves to your SD card.

On the left we have just our power source which is via micro USB which is more current than some of the dashcams we have used which use the older version. On top we have our window mount which is manoverable via a ball joint, this is also removeable which is handy so it can be placed basically in any position that suits you best and in a simple manner. On the bottom you will find your mico sd slot,sd card slot, ours came with an 8GB card, and speaker.

On the front you will find the 180 degree lens and thats it so overall its a simple set up and simple to use piece of equipment which we will demo in the video below.

ALERTS.. These work well quite well infact and there is settings here to pick from to to either silence these alerts or trun them off altogehter, It would be best to leave these alerts on especailly with speed limits and detection points unless you know your travel diary well, See the images below about the type of alerts you get which are uselfull and could save you points on your licence.

Also note you will get alerts prior speed zones. You can also use the voice activation to take videos and photos which is excellent and saves you from distraction although you can use the bottom button as mentioned to save an image should you wish but you should get use to the idea of voice controls..

Video samples on the Garmin 65W Dashcam

Overall this is really a nice dashcam and for its size its got plenty on board to keep the driver in check and always that added safety or having videos backed up should an incident arise, these would be vital in case of an accident as you cant say the camera lies….

Key specs on board.

  • 180-degree field of view captures more of the environment, including cross traffic
  • High-quality 2.1 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture; works even in low-light conditions

We check out @FiremoleLTD EVERY HOUSE needs this. #Irish #StartUp #Tech #Firemole

Firemole is a new Irish product that could potentially save your life and every house should have at least one of these and for the tech fan like myself could do with a few when there is multiple devices running all day.

Over the last few years we have seen that there is more and more fires in homes and in almost all cases its due to faulty or shit third part chargers that can be bought anywhere and to save a few quid many people just buy these because they are in your face everywhere these days and cost buttons compared to OEM or proprietary charging equipment which mostly we can thank Apple for. These cheap chargers in my eyes are a no go in my house and will always remain that way but I have a few samples here of cheap crap and you can see even by the build quality and you can factor in the cost which in turn leaves you at risk of a hazard at some stage. In short DONT BUY CHEAP SHIT!!!

Firemole is an innovative little gadget that attaches to your plug or charge pack and monitors the temperature and once it hits 54 degrees the alarm will sound which in turn you then get off your ass and plug out the nominated device or devices and check things out. The alarm is loud enough and can be heard even if in another room so its not an issue nor does it required a standalone app to run either which is quite good, perhaps round two from firemole could indeed have this for if you are not at home and have things left on….

UNBOXNG,WALKTHROUGH AND PUTTING FIREMOLE TO THE TEST

Firemole is a simple unit with just a battery to power it which lasts around 18 months and easily replaceable with a battery similar to what you find in a car alarm fob and the batteries are widely available. There is a test button up top and a rest button it can get any simpler really and anyone can use it with ease, get set up and just leave it there to do its job. I have tried and tested one and it just works,it’s a simple gadget that could someday save your life and those around you. Thats all there is too it check out their campaign below and get this into your home today for peace of mind.

About Firemole.

Firemole is a young company that is developing a range of innovative fire safety devices that can protect people and their property. There has been huge growth in the electronic and electrical markets over the last number of years, but there has not been the proportional growth in safety devices to protect people from faulty, ageing or counterfeit equipment.

Firemole monitors the electronic and electrical equipment that people use every day. We are using unique, stylish, patent-pending designs so that Firemole is a product that people want to use.

Firemole is focusing on fire prevention over fire detection and our R&D team is working closely with research centres to reduce the number of injuries and fires worldwide which are caused by faulty electrical and electronic equipment.

Firemole aims to begin trading in August 2017 in Ireland and the UK with the intention of having international distributors in place by 2018.

The inconvenient cost of convenience using Apps like #Uber #Deliveroo #Laundrapp #Apps

A new study by consumer finance website www.satsuma.co.uk has revealed the potential damage the use of so called convenience apps is having on personal finances.

  • 76% say convenience apps like Uber, Deliveroo, Laundrapp and others make it easy to spend more money than they wanted to

  • 40% say they regularly overspend via apps

  • 61% are spending £720 a year or 3.6% of net annual salary on convenience apps

  • 71% say they have no budget allowance for this type of spending

  • 14% have no idea how much they spend per month on convenience apps

Driven by the rise in the use of smartphones, we are increasingly living in an age of on demand gratification; where getting a taxi, ordering food or having your laundry done is easier, faster and much more accessible than ever before. A few quick clicks and it’s easy to have whatever you want. But what impact is this quick convenience having on our personal finances?

Are apps like this increasing our impulse spending? And if so, what responsibility, if any, do these apps have to help consumers manage their transactions better?

www.satsuma.co.uk wanted to find out, so it asked 1400 users of convenience apps in the UK a series of questions around their spending habits, to understand whether convenience really is a price worth paying.

The results from these 1400 respondents were really surprising.

Satsuma discovered that 71% of spending by respondents via convenience apps is unbudgeted; 61% of respondents are spending almost 4% of their annual net salary; 14% of respondents have no idea how much they spend per month on convenience apps.

The data from our respondents shows that these convenience apps are not being included in traditional budgeting techniques, leading to overspending.

Satsuma spokesperson Tim Anson commented: “This study shines a light on people’s perception of how healthy convenience apps are for their personal finances. It’s all too easy to pull your phone out and order something with little or no thought of the cost of your actions. The fact that 39% of respondents say they regularly overspend via apps and 14% have absolutely no idea how much they are spending is a red flag for me”.

Tim added: “Obviously retailers and service providers are in the business of taking your money as fast as they possibly can, and fulfilling that request equally as fast. However, it is clear as a nation we are not in control of our spending via these apps. Consumers need app developers to help them out with functionality to assist responsible spending. I’m also concerned that 47% of people have no idea how convenience apps make their money which suggests the majority of people are not aware of potentially hard to spot service charges and fees.

The key points from the responses of 1400 users of conveniences apps are summarised below:

  • 40% use convenience apps once a week or more.

  • 71% do not have a budget allocated for this type of spending and say they should

  • 61% spend up to £60 a month or £720 per year or 3.6% of their annual net  salary

  • 10% spend up to £100 per month or £1200 per year or 6% of annual net salary

  • 45% said they do not overspend on convenience apps

  • 39% said they overspend on convenience apps

  • 15% are unsure if the overspend on convenience apps

  • 76% say convenience apps make it too easy to spend more money than you should

  • 55% say convenience apps should have spending caps or notifications like mobile phone data usage to help stop overspending

  • 23% say that the have uninstalled convenience apps because they spend too much money

  • 47% say they have no idea how convenience apps make money

  • 11% think convenience apps are free

  • 24% believe convenience apps make money by adding service charges

  • 14% believe convenience apps make money by marking up goods/services

Review – The 1More Triple Driver Over Ear Headphones – #headphones #tech #review

I am a huge fan of headphones and now sport a pretty nice collection and it will continue to grow with more on the way, However I like something different, something that others dont have or that there is not a huge amount of people wearing them, I am not the type to join in the gang and get something because others have it and everyone else is wearing them. This set of headphones fits that bill perfectly and pretty much for the rest its good all round. Check out the unboxing first to see some more..

First of all the build quality here is excellent and to top it off they look completely different to what is considered an industry standard. The design to looks, the cans themselves even contain glass,or plastic underneath the outer cover piece and the colour..

These have a machined metal finish in Black and Gold and in the hand they feel solid, even the cable supplied is not cheap standard and again has the same finish to it too, Ports where the cable slots into again something different with sunked ports rather than the standard which also gives the jack more stability and making it more secure on both sides.

The headband itself is comfortable with leather padding top and bottom with a gold trim trying to imitate the genuine metal parts but its just a coloured leather (protein skin (As they call it) but compliments the headset well and having said that the flexibility on the band is also good and seems robust too but overall its comfortable even for long time usage so this is important.

The cans themselves are really nice, They are solid and look great in the Black and Gold and really robust and how they connect to the headband too is also really nice the whole setup complements each other well. The cups are clearly marked Left and Right and have no controls at all, this is a wired headset which is still a thing and I like it like that too although I do like my wireless headphones its nice to step back a bit and just plug and go,this is the thing here,There is no fumbling around for buttons or switches nor do you have to charge them either….

The joints on the headphones from band to cups is also really solid and not made with cheap plastic, this is where many headphones fail with a similar design but not these and I feel they will get great life out of them,The padding on the cups too is really soft and feel really nice on the ears even with long hours of use they just settle nicely on the ears and the padding is really soft to touch and speaking of comfort they dont clamp onto your head when you put them on you just feel comfort and sound dying from the outside. There is good movement at all angles on the cups with plenty of room to move any direction to suit everyones head,to look a them and how they are constructed you would not think they budge at all but they do and incorporate the requirements here.

The sound quality is great not that I am a qualified audiophile I have tested more than enough to state whats sounds good and what is crap basically,These are good with Piezo Ceramic Driver technology, the H1707 has a high frequency extension that reaches to 40kHz for high resolution files. The volume could have been a bit higher for my liking but it could be down to my device I am using right now or just me being me and as many know I like it loud but in all fairness they ar eloud enough and in a quite environment you will be pleased.

Overall I was happy with these and the presentation of the package is also really professional which I like to see you get nice extras in the box and overall you get a premium product even though they are a wired headset, Would I like to see them wireless? Well no, they look good as they are and stand out in the crowd. The only one small annoyance I had was when the metal clashes but its a small trade off to pay for a good headset all round.

Infographic – Wearable Technology – Myriad Aspects You Need To Know #Wearables #tech

One of the most challenging issues of the present century is public healthcare. While many countries have made a positive development in different fields the public healthcare is one of the most pertinent issues that create a cause for worry. There are a number of countries where the poor state of public healthcare poses challenging situation to the government. However, it is not only the poor section of the society who is afflicted by health issues. Apart from malnutrition the unregulated lifestyle also invites health issues. However, the wearable technology now seems to be poised to join hands with healthcare sector helping in forming a better world.

What are wearables?
Wearables indicate the functional technology that can be worn over the body in the form of accessories or apparel. For example, your Smartphone watch can be called a wearable. In the field of healthcare constant monitoring, accuracy of data and communicating any vital changes are paramount for the positive results. So, by the use of wearales the vital body data of an individual is collected and sent to the healthcare professional using enhanced communication methods.

Werables are here to stay
The popularity of wearables can be established from the fact that a palpable surge in the sales of Wearales can be seen. For example the Smartwatches that sold worth $15 million in 2014, are expected to touch the figure of $373 million by the end of this decade. And this is not the isolated case. Many wearales are experiencing surge in the total sales

Practical benefits of wearables
Ironically, a huge portion of poverty-ridden population lives in far flung areas that are generally inhospitable and thus it is not conducive for the healthcare professionals to reach there. Devoid of regular health checkups and consultant, the underprivileged population start experience deterioration in their health. However, if such population is encouraged to use the wearables, it would be easier to consistently monitor their vital health stats like heartbeat, BP and pulse rate. Besides, it will help in storage of such data and help in forming digital medical history.
The use of wearables helps in proper monitoring of the lifestyle and thus aims at preventing the diseases or disorders rather than finding a cure when the diseases has already attacked and weakened the immune system.

This info-graphic tells some interesting facts about Wearable Devices which collects the health stats like Heart rate, Blood Pressure, Sleep time and similar health data. Know some more interesting facts in the infographic attached with thanks to NEERJA SOFTWARES
