Samsung unveils the #GearS3 Frontier and Classic #Smartwatch. #IFA2016 #Samsung

So here we are once more with the latest news about tech during the IFA 2016, and as we were expecting Samsung was one of the first manufacturers to offer some new goodies to consumers.

Enter the new Gear S3 smartwatch

The GS3 will be available in two variants, one for the outdoor adventurous called Frontier

and another for the more conservatives called Classic

This time, Samsung went all in by using their own OS to power this devices. Tizen is a truly unique platform that seems to work better with wearable tech that anything else.

Both of them look and feel more like a normal watch than previous generations, probably due the bigger display and thicker structure. Also being waterproof with IP68 gives a sense of tranquility when using them outdoor or under heavy rain.

Onto the screens, both are covered by Gorilla Glass SR+, which was specifically designed for better clarity and improved scratch resistance. Also, there’s a new “Always on display” that will show the full color watchface.

Maybe it doesn’t look as a big upgrade just from the outside, but take a look at internals and is a whole different history

As you can see, packs anything you could ask for, even a GPS to work on its own when no phone is around, also this devices will have a LTE option as well.

We suspect the bigger battery was added to accommodate the new AOD feature but Samsung has add a few extra battery saver modes to improve it, one of which will turn your fancy new smartwatch in a “dumbwatch” that will only show you the time.

Although you can activated whenever you want, it will automatically active itself when the battery drops till 5%.

Sales are expected to star in October, mostly for the BT only variant with the LTE version coming shortly after.

The Frontier will come with 2 silicone bands (one large, one small) while the Classic will come with a leather band (as you could imagine).

Cost will be around €399..Ouch…

What are your thougths on these? Will you upgrade your smartwatch game if you already have the GS2? Or will you jump on it?

The World’s Most Advanced Smartwatch For Kids.#dokiWatch #Kickstarter #Kids

Smartwatches are not new and still slow on the uptake where as fitness trackers are popular, though the smartwatch now has morphed into fitness trackers too they still do not have the same appeal,I use them but not everyday as I like to chop and change,Kids though is a new area for the manufacturers of  wearables to grab hold of. There is already aplenty out there available now and more on the way but can you see your child actually wearing them, thats a topic for another day, never mind having a smartphone…

This watch though looks childish,is childish but packed with features and will be an attraction option compared to what is on offer, there are some nice ones out there and some not so nice, this could be said for the adults wearables too..

dokiWatch claims its  the world’s most advanced smartwatch for kids 6 to 12 years old that’s also a wearable phone and locator. It’s the first-ever 3G-enabled smartwatch for kids with video calling, voice calling, and messaging capabilities in one simple device! dokiWatch anticipates what families need in order to keep connected.

This watch has more options than you can shake a stick at and is more than just a watch, dokiWatch comes with important safety features including GPS tracking, which enables parents to know the whereabouts of their children right on their smartphone. The electronic pet, or “dokiPet”, doubles as a fitness tracker to encourage kids to stay active and healthy by utilizing fun incentives such as achievement badges.

If this is something that you might be interested in,head over to their Kickstarter page where they have surpassed their required funding amount…

Nabi Compete – Fitness tracking for kids. #Fitness #Kids #Wearables

Fitness tracking is popular everywhere and fitness trackers outdo smart-watches in popularity although they have now morphed into one with the latest smart-watches that are now available today,But fitness tracking for kids? Typically this area would be more towards older folk from late teens and upward,so is getting kids into this realm at young age a good idea, perhaps not but this means access to an app too and again kids with smartphones is another problem, there is many this age with mobiles but then the parents can also monitor from their own device. Nabi also have other tech on the market for kids such as tablets, headphones and jukeboxes..Given you can lockdown phones and tablets and assuming most parents are aware it can be done this could be a great idea..

Jim Mitchell, CEO of Fuhu, said, “As we enter the wearables market, we wanted to find a way that would really utilize technology to help parents encourage their kids to get active in a fun way, not in a way that would be perceived as being a task. To that end, in designing nabi Compete we looked closely at what keeps kids engaged with gaming, social interaction, friendly competition and performance rising to the top of our list. With the launch of nabi Compete, we believe we have developed a product and platform that will excite kids, get them active at an early age and fuel their interest and awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and personal fitness.”

nabi Compete comes packaged with two kid-friendly bands that can be linked by downloading the nabi Compete app to open a first-of-its-kind, fun-filled competitive gamified approach to activity tracking. nabi Compete keeps kids motivated to encourage activity at an early age by competing against friends or family members in achievable real-world inspired challenges and garnering appealing rewards for completing tasks. nabi Compete is now available at Target and Best Buy for a suggested retail price of $39.99 for the 2-band packs.

Samsung introduce the First Flexible Batteries Stripe and Band By @VicenteA_George #Samsung #Battery #Wearables

Recently at InterBattery 2015 held in Seoul, Samsung SDI  Division showed off  their newest invention, a pair of flexible batteries for the devices of tomorrow.

Let’s Welcome Stripe and Band

As we know wearable devices are becoming more and more common these days, but the major problem those gadgets are facing is battery life, but thanks to this kind of innovation that situation is about to change.

The Stripe is as thin as 0.3mm and can be folded into almost anything, lets say a cup, a wrist, your neck or even a T-shirt.

Design with cutting edge technology this battery is aimed to increase the durability of future devices

The Band as the name implies is aimed to be an extra fuse within the smartwatches bands.

This extra charge will give you 50% more battery than usual and can be fold over 50 thousand times to adjust any wrist.

Although there are not ready to hit the market yet, the guys at Samsung SDI were able to demonstrate the products capabilities within some devices at the EXPO.

Is not the first time we have seen something like this from the guys at Samsung, after all, the “curve battery”  from 2 years ago found its way inside the Gear Fit. So is possible to see these little ones sooner than we think.

Samsung SDI Curved Battery

What do you think? Is worth adding extra batteries to something which already should have enough power?
