Twitter now allows you share tweets via DM quicker. #Twitter #Social

Twitter is now allowing you to share DMs quicker than ever by adding a new feature today which is rolling out on Android and iOS. You should be able to see a new message icon on the tweet which is on the very right and if you click on the tweet it’s between the heart and share icon.Lots of people do spend much time on Twitter and have conversation in DM mode so this will be a welcome addition for some. All you need to do is tap the new message icon and it will bring you to a list of recently used people and then select the person and press send, otherwise you can just search for the person you intend to send the tweet too.

Twitter say

Every day, millions of people send Direct Messages to communicate privately with friends, family, experts, brands, and anyone else they find interesting on Twitter. In fact, we’ve seen the number of messages sent grow over 60% in 2015. And the number of Tweets shared privately has grown even faster, at 200% in just the second half of last year.

Tech start up launches app to help kids with Down Syndrome at maths. #Apps

It is good to see apps like these appear and with the digital age now helping in health more and more it also flourishes for kids with Down Syndrome with more apps becoming available to assist in the well-being of children this new start up called Enabling Play who was co-founded by brother and sister Will Jessop and Cara Jessop, the new app is called Millie Moreorless and is available for iPhone and iPad.

Nominet trust reports..

The game is based on pioneering scientific research in the field of Magnitude, our instinctive ability to identify whether one quantity is ‘more or less’ than another – without counting. This ability is believed by some scientists to be the foundation of all subsequent maths learning. However, research has revealed that children with Down Syndrome often experience significant developmental delays in this area. By helping players improve their magnitude sense, its creators believe their game will lay a foundation for children to learn the maths skills they will need to be independent in adult life.

Cara Jessop and Will Jessop, the co-founders of Enabling Play, say “Designing Millie Moreorless has been an incredibly rewarding experience. We believe that by allowing ourselves to be led by the young people themselves, we have created a game that is fun, engaging and inclusive. It is so important to bring players of all abilities into the mainstream. If we can help children with Down Syndrome get better at maths and lay the foundation for greater independence in adult life, then we will all benefit as a society.”

Google takes up promotional measures to attract customers to Project Fi by @Tiwaash

Google announced the Project Fi, its own mobile phone network in April last year with Nexus 6. The service which was following an invite system until now is ditching it and now is open for everyone in the US to try it.

Project Fi which takes advantage of both T-Mobile and Sprint networks will now allow users across the US to sign up for service without having to wait in-line for an invite. It is only available for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6 smartphones from Google and work with a special SIM card that supports connections to multiple cellular networks.

Google charges $20 for the basics plan which include unlimited domestic calls and texting, Wi-Fi tethering, unlimited international texting, and access to cell coverage abroad while the data costs $10 for 1 GB, $20 for 2 GB and so on, with the user paying only for the data used. Giving some insights about Project Fi, the company said in the blog post that 15% of customers have used Fi abroad in 110 of the over 120 supported countries.

Project Fi enabled smartphones can link to one of two 4G LTE networks or to Wi-Fi, automatically selecting optimal connections and switching from one to another without interrupting service. As a promotional measure and to urge people to sign up for Project Fi, Google is offering the Nexus 5X starting at $199 for the next month.

#Facebook acquires MSQRD to compete with Snapchat by @Tiwaash

Snapchat has become uber popular with people to chat off late and has become the talk of the town giving tough time to competitors. Recently Snapchat acquired an app that is specialized in selfie animations called Looksery. Now, Facebook has taken up the challenge dominated by Snapchat by acquiring a similar app that goes by the name of MSQRD to bring similar features to its messaging service as well.

When Snapchat acquired Looksery, the app disappeared from app stores and instead showed up within the Snapchat app as a feature called Lenses. Now, Facebook has apparently acquired Masquerade which is often stylized as MSQRD. The startup also specialized in filters and lenses of sorts for selfies but instead focuses more on video rather than still images.

After the takeover, the key members of the startup which was originally based in Belarus will start working out of Facebook’s London office.

In the past, Facebook had tried to acquire Snapchat for a sum of US$ 3 Billion and when that deal fell through, they brought out similar features on their messaging platform. So this acquisition too should be a move to bring their messaging service to the same level or take it one step higher. Not sure just how and when Facebook is planning to implement this into their own products but, this giant is on the quest of getting everything under one umbrella.

The Nokia 3310 meets a hydraulic press. #Nokia #3310

The Nokia 3310 was one of the most popular phones in its time and in fact they still pop up every now and then in the wild and I myself own one still to this day (See image below)  along with a clatter of other old Nokia greats of the past. The 3310 was one of those phones that the battery lasts for days and if it hit the ground the floor would break and lets not forget snake too…

You tube channel “The Hydraulic Press Channel” have posted a video putting the 3310 under the press to see what it would look like after it sees tonnes of pressure forced on it,can it survive and what do you think of the result and do you still have on of these great classics?
