Would you buy a $17.000 smartphone? This, is @SIRINLABS “Solarin”. #Android #Security

Sirin labs is a Israeli startup that’s aiming to play the same game as Vertu by offering luxury smartphones with outstanding security suites.

This is the case of this $16.000 (aprox. £9,500) smartphone, that promises “experience out of this world”.

The phone’s look is specially design to create a mixture between been nice looking and resistant.

Fist of all let’s take a look at some of the internals:

Display: 5.5 inches, IPS

Resolution: 2560×1440 pixels

OS: Android 5.1 Lollipop

Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 810

GPU:  Adreno 506

Memory: 128 GB (No SD) / 4 GB RAM

Camera: rear 23,8MP, laser/phase detection autofocus, four-tone
flash; front 8 MP, front facing flash

Battery: Li-Ion 4000 mAh

At first glance its nothing we have not seen before (for twenty times less money hahaha) but what makes this device “unique” is the security suite, which is said to meet the high military standards called Zimperium, which protects the smartphone against advanced devices attacks, applications and network.

Also comes with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit chip-to-chip. technology used at army grade by its simplicity, all you need to do, is move the switch located on the back of the device al your ready to go.

The devices itself comes with a one of a kind design, in multiples colours, but as you change the colours, you change the price, for you to have an idea this would be the price tag of each:

Colors:
Fire Black Carbon Leather with Titanium $ 13.800 + taxes,
Fire Black Carbon Leather with Diamond like Carbon $ 14.900 + taxes,
Fire Black Carbon Leather with Yellow Gold $ 17.400 + taxes,

So, what do you think about this? Do you think it is the most secure smartphone? Would you pay the price for been “annonymous”? Let us know in the comment section below, or join the twitter conversation.

Gardai warn about Mobile theft in Ireland, common sense can help curb it. #Mobile #Theft

The Gardai today have said that 7000 mobile phones have been stolen since May of last year which amounted to 3 Million euros worth and with most people carrying good high end devices more than ever this is a lucrative crime for Organised criminals and the dumbass opportunists whom we might often see just grab from your hand whilst walking down the street.. Another thing you might also notice is people now carry their phone, credit cards and keys on their phone with specialised cases, this is something I myself have constantly said to many of people with these cases or thinking of buying them DONT!

But they do,they will and it is their own choice and with some of these cases which we actually review they are nice and look well and can be convenient for some. Its now clear that this could one day leave you in big trouble should you be speaking on your device and one of these opportunists grab and run you have lost the whole lot…

With St Patrick’s day coming up it is events like these where criminals flee too and there is also organised gangs on the prowl. There is some tips which the Gardai have advised users which are pictured below, but you can help yourself here too by simply doing some small things such as install apps, one such app you can use is on your desktop is  “track my phone”this can enable you to check your devices whereabouts once you have location turned on, dont leave your phone lying around and keep in a secure front pocket where you will feel it more so than on loose clothing where the criminals can take it out without you knowing… The more organised criminals work in groups and are effective at getting what they want and use distraction tricks to take phones from peoples pockets or left sat on a table but the opportunist can just swipe and run…

To make life that bit harder use the pin lock, use a screen lock and there is apps that actually take snaps too if someone does nick your device, one such app is called GotYa.. The Gardai have also issued a Mobile Phone Prevention Pack on their website too so check it out..

The LG G5 with a downside within #LatAm By @VicenteA_George #LGG5 #Android

Every time a new device is launched, we expect them to come in different variants depending on the market they’re going.

Usually these variants are an option in most countries, but this particular year LG made a change to that, and will offer a downgraded version of their flagship for the Latin America Market.

During MWC16 LG showed up they new flagship phone, the first “Modular Smartphone” and lots of us fall in love with the idea.

They made the entire presentation and announced all the details about the device and what it offers, but one thing they didn’t mention was a particular variant for L.A

The model presented last week comes with an Snapdragon 820, four Kryo cores, two clocked at up to 2.2 GHz and two at 1.59GHz, 4GB of RAM and for GPU an Adreno 530.

This is the model that will be shipped to U.S, E.U and Asian markets, but the version for Latin America is another story.

With an Snapdragon 652, four ARM Cortex A72 and four Cortex A53 clocked at up to 1.8GHz, just 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 510 this model is what you could consider a upper mid-range phone.

But if you thought it can’t get worse, it can.

Alongside the new flagship, LG also announced their new “friends” ecosystem, which aims to attract more people with some appealing options, within which are the LG 360VR

But these devices will not be available for South Americans either, something we haven’t seen a reason yet, as the S652 is perfectly capable of handling VR as we have seen on devices with the same processor like the Idol 4S

The reason behind this is even weird as is the first time something like this happen, the announced was made by LG’s Sales manager for Chile, Cristián Correa who said:

Latin American version will be the Snapdragon 652, based on the feedback we had from several operators in the region to probe the accessory alternatives we had, and where the VR was not very appealing. That is why, in addition to the situation of currency appreciation in our countries, we seek a way of saving so the product were not so expensive and we had a better proposal for LatAm without sacrificing performance and only potentially non-use of VR.

We still have to wait and see if this will apply to the entire region and not just Chile, so stay tuned for any updates on this subject.

@vodafone_es announces #4GFI project for MWC16 By @VicenteA_George #4GFI #LTE #MWC16

It looks like yesterday when we were covering  CES2016 and then MCW2016 is just around the corner,

We are expecting to see a lot of things there, but if you thought OEMs were the only ones making announcements you were wrong, as Vodafone has just give us a glimpse on what’s to come with they new tech called 4GFI

Is a really normal thing to suffer connection loss when covering or attending these kind of events (Which is really funny if you ask me)

Thinking about it Vodafone has release today during a press conference their new project called 4GFI which will improve the connection on 2G and 3G phones using an updated 4G hotspot from your phone your house and even your car.

The 4GFI is an autonomous app the will be automatically turn on if just in optimal conditions, without the need of the user intervention or any kind of passwords, using Vodafone networks, so even if you use your phone as hotspot for your other devices or friends your date is going to be safe.

This will enhance other connection services, so this will be really useful if you or your friends have a 2G or 3G phone, the one with a 4G capable device will provide faster data transfer in 15x on 3G devices and 3000x on 2G ones.

Right here you can see an example on how it would work thanks to our friends at ADSLZone

All this advances and more will be showcase at MWC2016 next week, where we-ll see also Vodafone 5G project aiming to a 1Gbps.

Are you ready for all the incoming tech? What do you think about this 4GFI? Find it useful? Let us know in the comment section below

Apple has its own #VR headset now on the App Store By @VicenteA_George #iPhone #Apple

Every day more and more companies are joining the VR wagon, but some of the most promising ones like Oculus are too expensive, some others just go an choose the Google cardboard which is way cheaper.

But today we have just discovered that now Apple has its own VR headset, the View-Master Virtual Reality Starter pack (hope the name changes )

Putting the name aside, this is and actual step into the right direction from the fruit company.

This headset was created following the same principles as he Google cardboard, using your iPhone’s screen, you’ll get two split images that when seen through the cristal on the device will simulated the 3D impression on your brain.

Unlike the former, this model is made of plastic, but with a strong resembles of those little toys we use to have when kids, the ones that came with a reel of different images. It even comes with a lever to control your phone.

Well, actually is practically the same as this device works with the same kind of mechanism, the app to control everything on your phone is totally free on the store, but its just a sneak peak of the entire content, such as Space and NATGEO wildlife and destinations.

Something that we did see coming, was a way to charge more for something that should have come ready, in order to unlock the full VR experience, customers will have to buy a separate reel that will free the true power of the app.

And although the device is compatible with iPhone 5 and up running iOS 8.1 or later, there’s a warning saying iPhones 5 and 5c may have issues as the app is not totally optimized.

The View-Master Virtual Reality Starter Pack it in pre-order stage at $29.95

And you can have yours HERE

Stay tuned for more info

Monitor your heating oil anytime, anywhere with OilPal. #Heatmatters #OilPal

OilPal is a neat idea which enables users to stay connected with the heating oil tank at all times with a simple Ultrasonic Tank Sensor and a web enabled device. From here you can then monitor everything on the go no matter where you are and even get notifications straight to your device.

Who is OilPal and how did the idea come about?

OilPal is a product of Dunraven Systems aimed at the consumer market who have oil fired central heating. For the first time, it allows heating oil users to really take control of their oil tank by showing you the approximate volume of heating oil left in your tank. It also features a handy estimated days to run out, giving you that peace of mind that you or other family members have sufficient supply and won’t go cold on the long winter’s nights.

The OilPal works on any web enabled device, which means you can keep an eye on your oil anywhere you are and monitor other tanks like your elderly parents for example. You can monitor your oil levels with the touch of a button anywhere in the world. It also includes a theft alert system should your levels drop dramatically over a short period of time.

The OilPal is based on tried and tested 100 % reliable technology. It was developed to complement our current Apollo product range and offer a self-monitoring possibility to the households. We already had commercial monitoring in place so it was a natural progression to move into the consumer market.

Is there any competition in the market similar to yours and if so, what makes your product better?

Dunraven Systems are pioneers in ultrasonic fuel tank monitoring and the first to bring the system to the domestic market. There are competitors out there, trying to replicate what we do, but with 4 decades of experience in the business and over 600,000 units sold in Ireland and UK alone, we are proud of being a provider of innovative, reliable products and great customer service and support.

What are the plans going forward? New products or work on current idea.

We are constantly doing research and development into new areas using our existing technology. There are several possibilities out there as our core product is an ultrasonic measuring device and it can be used with a variety of liquids from home heating oil to other oil products, water and waste. The best way to follow us and our product development is to follow either both of our Twitter accounts @Dunravensystems or @Oil_Pal and our Facebook pages.
