Paralympics Ireland launch new mobile app. #Rio2016 #morethansport #Paralympics

Paralympics Ireland have just launched a brand new app to mark 100 days to Rio2016,The app is now free to download on both Android and iOS platforms and it is FREE.. The app is packed with features via the hamburger menu on the top lefthand side offers easy access to content such as News,Competitions,Media Your account and much more,Also present right now on opening the app is a countdown timer to the event which begins September 2016

Speaking about the launch this morning, Paralympics Ireland’s Media & Events Manager, Mary McGuire stated: “We’ve been working extremely hard on this app over the last few months to ensure that it is very user-friendly and full of engaging content and updates for fans to enjoy.

“We are delighted that we will be able to provide updates live from Rio this year through the app in addition to all of our other social media platforms, and we believe it will certainly be a must-have for any Irish Paralympic supporter this year.”

 

Paralympics Ireland is the organization responsible for leading elite Irish athletes with a disability to Paralympic Games success. Thanks to the support of Sport Ireland and the Irish Institute of Sport, we recruit and support top-class coaches to guide Irish Paralympic athletes to competition glory. The Canvas Works – Print mobile, camera & Instagram photos as glorious canvas.

As the header suggests this new idea was created by Patrick Ryan which enables users to Print mobile,camera and Instagram photos on canvas and now there is an app to boot and Patrick  from thecanvasworks.ie tells us more below..

It is a week of scams not particularly new but with two big companies people can fall for them,earlier this week it was Argos,this time round it is Tesco.. A email just arrived in our inbox and here are all the details you need to know and watch out for…

The email came from this dude here (sneha@ego34.checkcellactivator.com>) obviously with Tesco in the header too which entices people to just take a peek at the mail..

Motorhome Parking Ireland has hundreds of Points of Interest for motorhomers in Ireland.
POIs include Aires de Service, free overnight parking spots, bars and restaurants that welcome motorhomes, as well as campsites. Most POIs have information and many have user reviews so you can see what other users’ experiences have been before you head off. Once you select a POI you can then call your favourite navigation app to help get you there.An iOS version is in the works Ally explains..

StayGo is an app that uses Social Media and Science for relationships. #Dating

A reader sent this app in today and its a new app that uses social media and algorithms to decide if your relationship will last,Like any other dating app you will need to throw in some information answer a 100 questions and let the app do the rest for you. Personally I think this is a pile of rubbish and the same time it could be good and letting an app decide my future is a long way off yet from reality and again the person putting in the right information is another reason why this wont work 100,We have seen many instances before on other dating apps where things can go really wrong..Perhaps though I could be wrong but let time tell and see shall we…But then ask yourself do you need an app to decide if your relationship will last?

Nydeum Sense: One-Handed Keyboard & Air Mouse. #Nydeum #Kickstarter

Nydeum Sense is a new product thats just hit Kickstarter which is a One-Handed Keyboard & Air Mouse and we have been talking to Daniel Brownwood about the product and how it came to be today..
Problem #1: We feel that traditional peripherals like the mouse and keyboard are not up to par with current technology. Today we expect comfort and convenience and these words just don’t apply to keyboards and mice. They require you to stay seated in one place and are big, bulky and occupy too many of our senses in order to function, two hands and our eyes. PC users may have made peace with this, but smart TVs for example still don’t have any real input solutions. Keyboards are out-of-place in the living room and remote controls are a real hassle to write with.

Solution #1: Our first product, Nydeum Sense, offers a solution to this problem by combining an air mouse and a new type of keyboard. It’s wireless and one-handed and is perfect for living room use. It offers the usual functions of any mouse or keyboard, and on top of that it’s customizable: any gesture or movement on the device or in the air can be programmed to do whatever you want it to – e.g. make a circle with the device and open Netflix.
Problem #2: Touch screens are the primary surface we interact with now, so the obvious thing to do was include the QWERTY keyboard as part of the screen. The issue with this is that it takes up half the screen and has a huge error rate because of the small buttons. This is bad enough in smartphones, but will simply not work in smartwatches.

Solution #2: As a solution, we created a new digital alphabet, which is really just a simplified version of the Latin alphabet that can be written with quick movements in one place –  on the Nydeum Sense device you can write by guiding your finger along the fixed track. In a smartphone or smartwatch, this would be done on a much smaller surface we have already developed with micromechanics.
Nydeum Sense can be used to write at about 3 characters/second – average typing speed on a traditional keyboard is 3.8 characters / second with a 4-6% error rate. We are not trying to replace traditional keyboards and do not claim Sense is faster, but we do believe it is a much more comfortable alternative, especially useful with smart TVs. It could also easily be used along with VR technology as a controller/input system.
