Tech Review – CANYON Car Video Recorder DVR10GPS – Dashcam

The CANYON DVR10GPS  is one of many dashcams on offer from the company and the first time for us to test one out, We test many dashcams here and I always say every car should have them fitted as standard but to date it is not the case and leaves plenty of room in the market for you to go pick what suits your pockets and needs.

Setting up takes about ten minutes in total with getting the app downloaded then installing into your vehicle and if you are familiar with dashcams it will be no trouble, the UI on the app is simple to navigate using the keys on the device itself and you will be ready in no time regardless.

Equipped with a powerful Sony Starvis 307 sensor, it captures impeccable footage even in low light. The expansive 140° field of view ensures comprehensive coverage, leaving no detail unseen. Enjoy effortless installation with the magnetic holder – a secure and convenient mount. Powered by a dependable supercapacitor, this device guarantees stable operation even in extreme temperatures and being recently below freezing here it worked with no issues.

There is also an app and of course WiFi to connect to the device with when you are on the go and allowing you to draw down footage when required and this can also be locked on the device so you do not overwrite it which is important. The controls on the unit itself are simple to use as in on the app so you can set up with either. The database is updated weekly too for speed cameras and so on.

The built-in GPS module allows you to track the speed and location of your vehicle. Forget about speeding fines – the speed cam function will always let you know about the speed control camera ahead. This recently worked well for me testing another dashcam in the UK not knowing all the roads to well so pay attention to warnings although we differ here with how they operate over there towards here in Ireland. I had no notifications as the previous dashcam which was like a community set-up despite deriving many miles with work.

Overall this is a nice product and simple to use which is important some dashcams can be a bit cumbersome and have a hard to navigate UI whereas this one is simple to use and get around and keep you and your vehicle protected, check out the video review below for more and what you will find in the app and what is on the dashcam itself and all the features.

Product features

  • Recording FullHD 1080p at 60 fps
  • 3-inch IPS Screen
  • Sony Starvis 307 sensor with Night Vision mode
  • 140° Field of View

  • WiFi connection and application control

Jabra announce updates to its PanaCast 50 video bar solution

First announced at InfoComm in June but now available as a product update, Jabra’s video bar solutions have just become smarter.

Intelligent Meeting Space

We made our Jaba PanaCast 50 professional video bar a little too good at picking up every face. So particularly in glass-walled meeting rooms but also for open-plan spaces, there’s a chance people outside your meeting could find themselves on screen for remote participants.

Our new Intelligent Meeting Space feature has it handled, enabling you to customise your meeting space so that only people inside your specified area are included in the meeting. The Jabra PanaCast 50 and PanaCast 50 Room System simply allows for definition of room boundaries of the virtual meeting space, so only people within this area are included, whereas bystanders and people walking by are excluded.

Intelligent Speaker

Jabra PanaCast 50 and Jabra PanaCast 50 Room System are the first front-of-room devices to be certified for Microsoft’s new Intelligent Speaker functionality, which identifies who said what in a Microsoft Teams Room meeting and allows each person to have their spoken words accurately attributed to them in the transcript Using intelligent speech recognition identifies up to 10 individual speakers’ voices, adding names of in-room participants to the live transcription so you know exactly who’s said what. Voice recognition functionality – upon individual enrollment – enables in-room participants to maintain their identity in the meeting transcript, enabling more precise intelligent recaps for users with a Teams Premium license.

Intelligent Speaker is proprietary Microsoft technology to uniquely identify a person’s voice to have accurate speaker attribution. When multiple people are speaking in a conference room, and the transcription feature in Microsoft Teams is enabled, it makes sure the sentences and words of each attendee be attributed to them as opposed to being generically attributed to the meeting space.

Jabra PanaCast 50 is the first and only Microsoft Teams Rooms video bar that supports Intelligent Speaker right in the bar, without having to purchase a secondary device just to enable this capability.

As explained by Microsoft, announcing the general availability, Intelligent Speaker will bring people identification in live transcription in a shared environment enabling clear voice capture of participants in the meeting room. Allowing everyone in the meeting to spend less time taking notes and easily follow along who said what in the room. Intelligent speakers include a 7-microphone array to identify voices, so whether you are working remotely or in the conference room, you can effectively see who said what during and after the meeting.

Josh Blalock, Microsoft MVP and Chief Video Evangelist at Jabra said: ”No-one likes taking minutes – and now, no-one has to. We are proud to be the first to bring Intelligent Speaker for Microsoft Teams directly to a video collaboration bar, expanding the ROI for our PanaCast 50 customers, and eliminating the need for them to further complicate their meeting room deployments. At Jabra, we are always looking for ways to harness the power of cutting-edge AI technologies to revolutionise hybrid and remote meetings, and this is a major step.”

Tech Review – ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 Video Light

Be it a content creator filmmaker you need lights, how many will vary and this to some extent is an overkill for me however will be used and going forward with plans will be part of the set-up and you could consider this  rather affordable start up cost for a small producer I might ad as some kits run into the thousands. This one the ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 Video Light will set you back 400 euro but it is worth the money and portable and everything comes in a cool travel case saving space time and keeps all the kit in one place.

Probably an overkill for me however the light output is fantastic as you will see in the video demo below and alongside the app makes it simple to use and it can certainly give you the light required to focus on a subject or area, the app allows you to control the lights as well as the controls on the device itself which for me is a better option so the light can be placed anywhere and for the user standing back away from it can get a better idea of the brightness situation rather than being behind it which gives you a better look from both perspectives.

There are two fans on the device and yes it can be warm around it,these fans are silent more or less and emit no noise which is important for most using this I would imagine having such a big output,  The ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 boasts a peak output of up to 200W under normal usage, with a one-press MAX Extreme mode that delivers a staggering peak output of up to 300W.

Three modes for professional scenes

Normal mode: Simply turn on the light using the conventional switch.
Live mode: Automatically turns on as soon as it’s powered on. You can sync multiple lights with a single power source.

Music mode: The built-in radio port flashes synchronously according to the ambient sound volume.

The App

The ZY Vega App supports Bluetooth Mesh networking, allowing for remote dimming and quick switching of presets. Achieving professional lighting on any film set or studio is effortless and convenient.

Features

Powerful, steadfast illumination

At peak brightness, G200 offers: 9460 Lux (without reflector); 61500 Lux with ZHIYUN’s standard reflector (at 1m). In MAX Extreme mode it offers: 13800 Lux (1m, without standard reflector) 85800 Lux (1m, with ZHIYUN standard reflector). CCT (colour correlated temperature) range is excellent: 2700K – 6500K. A colour rendering index (CRI) of ≥95 and a television light consistency index (TLCI) of ≥97 make for accurate rendition of the subject’s colours.

Three lighting modes = exciting visual experiences

In normal mode, you can turn on the light and adjust the brightness to your desired level. Live mode automatically turns on as soon as it’s powered on. Music mode syncs your lighting with music beats to create a dynamic and immersive experience for your audience.

Accessories and apps for full creative control

The G200 comes with a stand with 180° flexibility: the stand’s 180° adjustable arm and full-range rotation capabilities, making it easy to adapt to any setting. The stand has a universal lighting umbrella slot for added convenience. The G200 is compatible with the Bowens mount accessories by ZHIYUN and other Bowens accessories. In addition, ZHIYUN’s ZY Vega app: supports Bluetooth Mesh networking, allowing for remote dimming and quick switching between presets, allowing for professional lighting results on any film set or studio.

• One-press MAX Extreme Mode for 300W Peak Output
• DynaVort Cooling System™
• 180° flexible support for full adjustment
• Easily equipped with a variety of light control accessories
• Three Modes for professional scenes:Normal mode, Live mode, Music mode

More people can now make money on YouTube with the expansion of its Partner Program to cater smaller creators

YouTube opened up today a new tier in its partnerships program (YPP), enabling eligible creators to activate fan-funding features known as Super Chat, Super Thanks, Super Stickers, and channel memberships in Ireland.

“Creators are the lifeblood of YouTube and we’re invested in making it the most rewarding place for them — creatively, emotionally and financially. We hope that this lower eligibility criteria will help support creators who are early in their YouTube journey, paving the way for a new generation of content creators,” said Julie Dilger, Google Ireland Head of External Communications.

According to a study by Radius, a majority of creators in the Middle East and North Africa, France, Germany, and the UK surveyed in 2023 say YouTube offers more creative freedom and more ways to create than other platforms. In Ireland, over 3,000 channels have more than 10,000 subscribers, an increase of more than 15%, year over year.

These new fan-funding features will be available to creators in Ireland with:

  • 500 subscribers

  • 3 public uploads in the last 90 days

  • Either 3,000 watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days

  • No active Community Guidelines strike

Community engagement and connecting with viewers is at the core of these new fan-funding features. Super Chat & Super Stickers will allow viewers to purchase brightly colored, pinned chat messages and stickers during live streams and Premieres hosted by creators. Fans can support their favorite creators and stand out from the crowd, while creators get to identify and connect with their top fans + access new revenue.

Super Thanks is an easy way to give back and show appreciation for creators and their content. Viewers have a fun way to show support and stand out in the comments section with colorful comments, while creators can feel the love for their content with every contribution and connect directly with fans.

As for Channel memberships, these will allow viewers to join a creator’s channel through monthly payments and, giving paying viewers members-only perks like badges, emoji, and other goods. Creators can access these new features through the “Earn” tab in YouTube Studio where they will see if they’re eligible to apply for this new tier. Automatic emails will also be sent once a creator qualifies to apply. It can take up to four weeks for the feature to rollout to 100% of creators.

The YouTube Partnerships Programs was one of the first revenue-sharing models on the internet. Creators with more than 1,000 subscribers and have 4,000 watch hours in the last 365 days (or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days) will continue to have access to the revenue share from ads and YouTube Premium. Fan-Funding features were announced at YouTube’s Made On YouTube keynote last year.

Why Multi-Camera Conferencing Represents The Next Generation Of Video Meetings

In an age of video bars and webcams more and more organisations are adding a dynamic new dimension to their remote meetings, by taking a multi-camera approach.

That’s the experience of hardware manufacturer, Boom Collaboration, which has seen growth in ‘live events’ and more intuitive conference calls, rise by over a third so far this year.

The Texas-based company is witnessing a significant acceleration in demand for multi-camera conferencing which it views as an exciting new era for larger remote gatherings, transforming standard meetings into more engaging and powerful customer experiences.

International appeal

Founders Fredrik Hörnkvist and Holli Hulett believe new technology is helping blur the lines between traditional video calls and once complex AV production broadcasting.

Church ceremonies, court rooms, auction houses and healthcare training are some of the most popular sectors so far – as deployments continue to diversify. Industry trade shows are attracting remote visitors where panel debates and live presentations are all benefitting from a multi-angle approach.

Equally larger traditional conference rooms are adding additional cameras for a more intuitive life-like experience – according to the company which has seen a 35% surge in multi-camera sales so far in 2023.

“There’s no doubt we are seeing major growth in live events and remote communication on an international scale across a growing number of sectors,” says Hörnkvist.

“Many of today’s popular software-based meeting apps have the option to share multiple cameras and it’s clear this type of technology adds a new edge to traditional meetings, presentations and live shows.

“Healthcare training for example, is an area where lots of students can witness heart surgery remotely, rather than all being crammed into an operating theatre which wouldn’t be viable. They can view and learn clearly from various camera angles, from anywhere in the world.”

He continued: “Equally there are many conferences, trade shows and industry events that can sell more tickets by having a remote element too. There’s one price to attend in-person plus an online pass option.”

Multi-dimensional meetings

Hörnkvist highlighted: “There are many things to consider when planning a remote gathering. The first is identifying a suitable location with good lighting and audio dynamics. Next is considering camera angles and decor plus how many actual cameras will be used. Technical knowledge is crucial too. Who is going to act as a producer and switch between cameras? How is content going to be shared? Do you need outside expertise? Also, how long will the event last is another factor. You don’t want people becoming bored and losing interest. Interaction is crucial.”

He feels advances in technology open the door to easier management of multi-dimensional meetings – creating more opportunities to enhance the overall customer experience.

“It’s often been a complex and technical process in the past. But advances in technology are inspiring greater user confidence and expertise,” he notes.

“Power and electricity supply capacity can be a challenge. We often recommend using cameras that have a PoE capability. This makes it easier to deploy devices on the same network and improve room aesthetics, without unsightly cables everywhere.”

He says overall appeal will be further enhanced by new solutions such as Boom’s GOJO camera controller, which can manage over 250 devices, if required.

New era

For Hulett the use of high performance 4K PTZ cameras and expandable audio is essential; insisting ‘quality counts’.

She explained: “High quality PoE cameras, expandable audio and easy to use camera controllers/mixing desks are some of the key ingredients for a successful remote experience. Don’t overlook the importance of audio compared to video. If people can’t be heard clearly, then the show is over.”

Hulett began the business with co-founder Fredrik Hörnkvist in 2020, with Boom now embarking on a global expansion drive including the UK and Europe.

She advises: “To overcome some of the fundamental room challenges we always suggest putting the main camera at eye level on the same wall as the display so that it’s natural and easy to engage directly with people.

“We feel something like a 360 degree camera is actually counter intuitive to the way we communicate as it doesn’t promote natural eye contact and reading of body language cues. Also because more people are using video calls now they are more aware of their physical appearance while on screen. This further enforces the need for high calibre cameras that make the most of a variety of meeting conditions.’

Hulett concluded: It’s about creating a space that goes beyond the traditional video conference room by facing cameras in multiple directions, for more fluid and engaging experiences. We expect these trends to continue to expand and diversify, as a new era and the next chapter in video conferencing begins to unfold.”

Insert Coin to Continue: The Evolution of Payment Systems in Video Gaming

Video games have come a long way since the days of arcades and early home consoles. Alongside the advancements in graphics, gameplay mechanics, and storytelling, there has been a parallel evolution in how we pay for and access these virtual adventures.

From the simple act of dropping a coin into an arcade machine to the complex world of microtransactions and subscription services, the payment systems in video gaming have undergone a fascinating transformation.

The Arcade Era: Insert Coin to Play

The arcade era, which began in the late 1970s and peaked in the 1980s and early 1990s, was the genesis of video game payment systems. In arcades, players would insert coins (usually quarters) into a slot on the game cabinet to play. This pay-per-play model was straightforward and immediate, allowing players to enjoy games in short bursts. The challenge was to master the game’s mechanics within a limited time frame, often leading to fierce competition among players.

This model encouraged game developers to create titles that were easy to pick up and play but difficult to master. The quicker a player lost, the more coins they would need to insert to continue playing, providing a steady stream of revenue for arcade owners.

Pay by phone bill deposits

In the ever-evolving landscape of video game payment systems, one of the most significant and convenient developments in recent years has been the introduction of phone bill casino deposits. This innovation has revolutionised how we pay for gaming and expanded the realm of online gambling and mobile gaming. Phone bill deposits, also known as “pay by phone” or “mobile billing” options, provide a seamless and user-friendly way for players to fund their gaming accounts.

As tech keeps improving, phone bill deposits are becoming smarter and more convenient and mobile casino sites like JeffBet now offer easy phone billing payment options offering a number phone billing payment solutions. With the integration of biometric authentication, such as fingerprint and facial recognition, mobile payments are becoming even more secure and convenient.

The Digital Age: Downloadable Content and Microtransactions

The digital age brought significant changes to payment systems in video gaming. Instead of purchasing physical copies of games, players began downloading them directly to their consoles or PCs. This shift paved the way for the introduction of downloadable content (DLC) and microtransactions, making it easier than ever to pay for games.

DLC allowed developers to extend the lifespan of their games by offering additional content, such as new levels, characters, and items, for a separate fee. Microtransactions, on the other hand, allowed players to make small in-game purchases, often for cosmetic items or power-ups. These microtransactions proved highly profitable for developers, as they encouraged players to spend small amounts of money frequently.

While some players appreciated the ability to customise their characters and enhance their gameplay experience, others felt that microtransactions created a pay-to-win environment where those who spent more money had a significant advantage.

The Battle Royale Phenomenon

The battle royale genre, popularised by games like “Fortnite” and “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” introduced a unique approach to payment systems. These games are typically free to play, with revenue generated by selling in-game items and battle passes. Battle passes offer a tiered system of rewards that players can unlock by playing the game or purchasing the pass.

This model encourages players to invest time and money into the game to unlock exclusive cosmetics and rewards. It has been incredibly successful, with some battle royale games generating billions of dollars in revenue.

The Subscription Renaissance

In recent years, subscriptions have made a resurgence in the gaming industry. Services like Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Now, and Apple Arcade offer players access to a library of games for a monthly fee. These services provide a cost-effective way for players to enjoy a wide variety of games without purchasing each title individually.

Additionally, cloud gaming platforms like Google Stadia and NVIDIA GeForce NOW are exploring subscription-based models that allow players to stream games directly to their devices, eliminating the need for high-end gaming hardware.

The Future of Payment Systems in Gaming

As technology advances, gaming payment systems are likely to evolve further. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) gaming experiences may introduce new monetisation methods. Blockchain and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) could also play a role in the future of in-game item ownership and trading.

One thing is clear: the landscape of video game payment systems will continue to adapt to the preferences of players and the possibilities of technology. While debates about the ethics of microtransactions and the value of subscription services persist, the fundamental goal remains the same — to provide engaging and immersive gaming experiences to players worldwide, however, they choose to pay for them.

Conclusion

In the end, the evolution of payment systems in video gaming reflects the broader changes in technology and consumer preferences. From the days of inserting coins into arcade machines to the current era of subscription services and microtransactions, the gaming industry has continuously innovated to ensure both profitability and player satisfaction.

As we look ahead, it will be fascinating to see how emerging technologies shape the future of video game monetisation and what new experiences await gamers in the years to come.

How Team-Based Video Games Help Build Communication Skills

The Evolution of Team-Based Video Games

Team-based video games have been an integral part of the gaming landscape for decades, evolving from primitive text-based interfaces to advanced multiplayer platforms with live voice chat capabilities. In recent years, the introduction of communication tools has become an industry standard, with almost every game released offering some form of player interaction. But a question that often arises is: how can team-based video games help improve your communication skills?

To answer this question, let’s start with the concept of communication in gaming environments. Players often have to discuss strategies, negotiate actions, and coordinate movements. Let’s take the example of a popular game, Minecraft, where players can use tools such as the Minecraft skin editor to customize their in-game appearances. This not only helps to build a sense of team identity, but also opens the door for conversations about individual creativity, taste, and design skills.

The Role of Communication in Team-Based Video Games

Communication is crucial in team-based video games, where players must coordinate with each other to achieve a common goal. These interactions often mimic real-world situations, like working in a team to solve problems or dealing with stressful situations. Therefore, being a part of these in-game scenarios can help players build and refine their communication skills.

For instance, in an intense game scenario, a player might need to quickly relay information to their team to devise a strategy. This experience can help improve their ability to communicate under pressure, a skill highly valued in real-world situations. Also, a team player’s ability to listen, understand, and react to others’ perspectives and ideas is improved, thereby enhancing their interpersonal skills.

Enhancing Communication Skills Through Video Games

Learning how to effectively communicate in team-based video games can have several real-world applications.

Problem Solving and Decision Making: In many team-based games, players face complex problems that require them to communicate with their teammates to devise and implement strategies. These situations help improve their problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills, two crucial aspects of effective communication.

Negotiation Skills: In a game setting, players often have to negotiate with others to reach a common understanding or goal. This experience can help develop effective negotiation skills, which are valuable in various life scenarios, such as conflict resolution, business, or relationships.

Leadership Skills: A team-based video game often requires a leader to guide the team’s strategy. This leader must be able to clearly and effectively communicate their ideas and strategies, facilitating the development of leadership skills.

Language Skills: In multiplayer games that connect players from around the world, there’s an opportunity to interact with people from different linguistic backgrounds. This experience can enhance language skills, including vocabulary, grammar, and conversational fluency.

Cultural Understanding: Through interactions with players worldwide, gamers get exposed to different cultural perspectives, making them more empathetic and understanding. This global exposure aids in developing cross-cultural communication skills, which are becoming increasingly important in our interconnected world.

In conclusion, team-based video games provide a dynamic environment for improving a wide range of communication skills. They not only provide fun and entertainment but also serve as a platform for personal growth and skill development. So next time you jump into a multiplayer game, remember, you’re not only enjoying a thrilling digital experience, but you’re also honing your real-world communication skills.
