Unboxing and first look

First Look – The Dyson Zone air-purifying headphones

This is Dyson’s first wearable and being a tech reviewer that goes hands on with more headphones and earbuds than anyone in Ireland this is a different approach than your typical pair of headphones and we look forward to testing these out for ourselves over the coming weeks as we go full hands on with them and find out what is on offer here.

Dyson engineers had to think about comfort in a new way. Detailed research into head and face geometries meant engineers could measure how the Dyson Zone air purifying headphones would sit on and perform on different heads– informing the clamp force of the headband, the geometry and materials of the visor, the adjustability of the machine and much more.

Taking inspiration from the shape and design of a horse’s saddle, the Dyson Zone is engineered to distribute weight over the sides of the head, rather than on the top. A saddle typically curves over the horse’s spine distributing the load through contact with the areas left and right of the backbone – a format used for the central cushion on the headband.

The development of the ear cushions is important for three reasons: comfort, on-head stability, and passive attenuation. Foam is an obvious choice for ear cushions, but Dyson engineers dug deep into the make-up of different foams to choose the most suitable material based on density, rate of compression and spring-back rate – all of which change the way pressure translates onto the head.

When choosing the optimal foam for the ear and headband cushions, it was important to balance the comfort it provides, its stability when moulded to the ear, but critically the acoustic benefit it provides. Moulding around the ear increases the size of the contact points providing better sealing – and inhibiting additional urban noise entering the ear. The cushion is purposefully flatter than conventional ear cushions for both attenuation and comfort, and the cushions are angled in line with the angle of the ear on the head for optimal comfort.

The Dyson Zone air-purifying headphones are available in stores and online at www.dyson.ie

Check out the first look and tour of these headphones below and stay tuned for a full hands on review in the coming weeks any questions drop em in the comments on our social media and YouTube.

First Look – Creative Zen Air wireless earbuds

Creative recently announced their newest earbuds to the world called the Zen Air wireless earbuds and these look impressive for the price your pay with all the features given and access to their app which is not seen often at this price point which only mirrors what I have been saying for some time now with the cost to performance ratio, but how will these sound is what the big question will be so stick around for a full hands on review soon as usual. These are small and light and come in a glossy white case on our review unit and come with ANC and wireless charging so out of the box they tick all the boxes for me and we look forward to testing these out.

Today we take a first look at the new earbuds and as always if you have any questions drop them in the usual places and we will have the answers and we will have our full review soon.

Tune Out the World

Creative Zen Air offers users a better listening experience with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that can help filter out unwanted background noises so users can stay focused – be it at the office during an important conference call or listening to their favorite beats on the go without any interruptions.

With a simple tap of the earbuds, users can easily switch to the Ambient Mode to let just the right amount of surrounding sound in, which works perfectly when running errands or while hiking on a busy trail.

Small but Mighty

The Creative Zen Air weighs next to nothing at merely 46g, but it can deliver a hefty audio punch with 10 mm Neodymium drivers that boast clear high and well-balanced mids to produce high-quality audio performance that greatly exceeds its price point.

It is also fitted with 4 microphones that offer better voice pick-up to ensure clearer communication so users can experience hassle-free and uninterrupted calls anytime, anywhere.

On top of that, the latest true wireless earbuds can offer up to 18 hours of battery life with up to 6 hours of playtime on a single charge to meet the user’s every audio need – whether for commuting, exercising or just out for a short errand. For a fuss-free and quick charge, users can simply place the charging case on a Qi-compatible wireless charging pad. Together with Bluetooth® 5.0 connectivity and a certified IPX4 sweatproof rating, the Creative Zen Air ticks all the right boxes to make it the perfect everyday audio companion.

Creative Zen Air is priced at £39.99 and is available at Creative.com.

First look – Meta Quest 2

VR was once a thing then died off over the last few years, I was a huge fan and had a huge collections of headsets from all brands and still today have some here which have not been really used that much in fairness, I remember when VR was a thing and we covered lots of news and headsets then I just seemed to fade away. Here is the thing though it has been still growing in the background for different applications with some companies but as for the consumer end a different story, I have from time to time took a headset out and this one was in a different league a the time which was for education and was really cool from Veative VR and I was lucky to test this here in Ireland and the only one to do so.

Sony has a new VR headset coming out next year which I can’t wait for and it is welcome in my book and hopefully add to the revival of VR AR and of course we await something from Apple pretty soon to which some will say it will kickstart the industry just like their 5G phones didn’t and we all know how 5G is at the moment, depending where you reside of course but as for Ireland it has not been a hit and will not be for some time yet and event though 5G phones at the start where expensive and far and few between that has changed but the uptake in 5G has not and I wonder if the same thing will apply here for Augmented and Virtual reality.. Point being sony made it a bit more affordable for those to access a great VR experience but has so much wires and set-up a pain but was a step up from what Samsung offered and Sony already had hardwear out there for millions to access and cheaper than the other high end offering s back then like HTC VIVE for example.

I still have my note 4 and the Samsung Gear VR headset today, Samsung did it really well with not having to have an expensive system to drive it  (if you had a compatible phone that is) and was affordable which is akin to this headset which just requires a Facebook account to login which some sniff at but ask the same some do they use social media at all which is hypocritical all the same but having said that I get it when it comes to data but as it always has been and will be for the foreseeable future YOU are the product like it or not and of course if you choose to use such hardware and we all know how Facebook do things.

So for me I have two Facebook accounts and chose my websites one to use the device and login etc I did have an Oculus account before obviously with Samsung VR and did not care, today though a different matter. Data is a big thing but you are the product and that is a fact end of story..

Anyway moving on this headset I have a while and have been to busy with work the site and personal matter to actually test this out so I had some time to have a quick look and test it out recently and I like what I see apart from paying for lots of content, it has took me back to the Samsung VR times and would rate this headset slightly better considering you do not need any additional expensive hardwear just to run it, will the novelty wear off? Give me a few weeks and let me see and if it is worth the near 500 euro price tag to buy and ask any questions you might have over on the YouTube channel where we give you a hands on approach and not the lazy stock image one with no context as there is many today who still have not even tried the VR experience and even now I have showed some friends and they have been impressed but some felt dizzy.

iPhone 14 Pro unboxing and side by side with the 13 Pro and the cases problem

The iPhone has just dropped and moving on from the 13 Pro I have been asked and asked myself about the case issue which is will the 14 pro fit the 13 and vice versa, we have plenty of iPhone 14 Pro cases coming in for review next week but this is just a quick look at both iPhones and explaining that the cases will not fit both and of course a clever move by Apple to get more cash.

In short the buttons are basically lowered down on the phone which you will see in the video below, There is room for argument on thinner based cases where you may get some functionality but not all so in short the cases for the 13 Pro will not fit the 14 Pro properly, they will go on each other but that’s as far as it goes but you can look at it this way if you are waiting on a case for the 14 Pro you can perhaps get a thinner one on but as you will see in this video depending on the thickness of the case it will be an issue.

Stay tuned for more on the iPhone 14 pro and case reviews. Check out the Apple Watch SE 2022 unboxing
