The Step-by-Step Guide to Planning and Executing an Office Renovation

Are you tired of walking into your office every day and feeling uninspired? Maybe the outdated furniture, cluttered workspaces, or lack of natural light are affecting your productivity and overall mood. Or perhaps your company is experiencing growth and it’s time for a much-needed renovation to accommodate a growing team. Whatever the reason may be, an office renovation can have a significant impact on employee morale and efficiency.

However, the process of planning and executing such a project can seem daunting and overwhelming to many business owners or managers. But fear not – in this step-by-step guide, we will break down everything you need to know about office renovations so that you can navigate through the process with ease. From creating a budget to choosing colors and layouts, we’ve got you covered. Let’s say goodbye to drab offices and hello to inspiring work spaces!

The Benefits of Renovating Your Office Space

As we spend a significant amount of time in our office space, the environment must be both comfortable and conducive to productivity. If your office feels outdated or cramped, renovating it may be the solution you need to help improve work performance. Along with a new and fresh look, a renovated office space can foster increased team morale, as your colleagues will feel more motivated to come to work.

Not only do these changes enhance the physical attributes of the space, but they can also lead to an increase in overall well-being and job satisfaction. Ultimately, a renovated workspace can become the foundation for cultivating a positive and productive work culture.

Get Rid of Clutter

One of the most significant hindrances to productivity is clutter. An office renovation presents the perfect opportunity to declutter and organize your workspace. Start by getting rid of any unnecessary items or old furniture that no longer serves a purpose. Find a dumpster rental in Virginia Beach or a place near you to dispose of these items safely and responsibly. Consider implementing storage solutions such as shelves, cabinets, or drawers to keep your work area tidy and organized.

Once the clutter is gone, you can begin to plan how to optimize the use of space in your newly renovated office. From storage solutions to desk arrangements, keeping things organized will help maximize efficiency and minimize distractions. Most importantly, a clutter-free workspace can help reduce stress and promote a clear and focused mind.

Creative Design Ideas

Creative design ideas are crucial to the success of any business or organization. Implementing unique design elements such as open-concept workspaces, natural lighting, and ergonomic furniture can have a profound impact on employee satisfaction, productivity, and overall business performance.

These design elements allow for increased collaboration and communication, encourage healthy habits and mindsets, and create a more comfortable and inviting work environment. By embracing these creative design ideas, businesses can differentiate themselves from their competitors and attract top talent while also reaping the benefits of a more efficient and effective workforce.

Don’t Forget About Functionality

When it comes to renovations, it’s easy to get caught up in the aesthetics. We all want a beautiful and visually appealing workspace, but it’s important not to overlook functionality. Your office space must be functional and practical for your employees to work efficiently. Consider factors such as traffic flow, accessibility, and the needs of different departments when planning the layout of your new office. Every corner needs to be accessible, especially when it comes to accommodating the needs of all employees, including those with disabilities. Following ADA bathroom requirements by purchasing partitions from https://onepointpartitions.com/ ensures that your office not only meets federal compliance but also promotes an inclusive environment where every employee feels valued and supported. This approach to thoughtful office design underscores the importance of balancing aesthetic appeal with practicality and legal requirements.

Think about how technology can enhance productivity in your office. For example, incorporating wireless charging stations, smart whiteboards, or standing desks can help streamline and improve daily tasks. Additionally, don’t forget about incorporating elements that promote employee well-being such as designated break areas or a quiet room for relaxation and mental health breaks.

Adding Personal Touches

Creating a warm and inviting setting for employees can go a long way in fostering a positive work environment. One way to accomplish this is by incorporating personal touches into the space, such as artwork or family photos. These elements provide a sense of familiarity and comfort, making the workplace feel less sterile and more welcoming.

Employees will appreciate the effort put into making their workspace unique, and this extra touch of consideration will go a long way in increasing their job satisfaction. Whether it’s a favorite painting or a picture of their furry friend, adding personal touches is a simple yet significant way to enhance the workplace experience.

Remember, an office renovation isn’t just about aesthetics but also about creating an environment that promotes productivity and boosts morale. So don’t be afraid to think outside the box and incorporate creative design ideas that reflect your company’s values and culture. It’s also crucial to manage expectations and communicate effectively with both the design team and employees throughout the process. And once it’s all complete, don’t forget to add those personal touches that make the space feel like home. Trust us, the result will be worth all the hard work and dedication put into this project. So what are you waiting for? Start planning your dream office renovation today!

Make Your Working Time In The Office Easy With These Tips And Tricks

Are you struggling to find an efficient and comfortable way of working in the office? Are you trying to increase productivity and feel better about your work-life balance? Then, look no further! Here we share top tips and tricks to make your time at the office more pleasant, stress-free, and productive. Let’s explore how these simple strategies can save time, reduce fatigue from tedious tasks, and improve overall performance while keeping up with day-to-day work demands.

Invest in glasses that block blue light

Exposure to blue light from digital devices like laptops, phones, and tablets can cause eye strain, headaches, dry eyes, and fatigue. Investing in a pair of glasses that block out the irritating blue light can reduce these symptoms and make working on screens more comfortable. In addition to blocking blue light, many glasses come with an anti-reflective coating that reduces glare and improves focus. If you’re on the hunt for a good pair of blue light glasses, you can get more info here about the different types of glasses available on the market. Don’t take any chances: protect your eyes and make your work time easier on the go!

Consider purchasing ergonomic furniture

If you’ve ever found yourself fidgeting in your office chair for hours on end, you may want to consider exploring ergonomic furniture options. These pieces of furniture are designed to improve comfort and efficiency while reducing potential discomforts such as back pain, shoulder tension, and eye strain.

From chairs with adjustable armrests and lumbar support to standing desks that allow for improved circulation and better posture, there are a variety of ergonomic options available to suit your work style and needs. Take the first step towards an improved work experience and consider making this smart investment.

Create daily schedules and set hourly goals

We’ve all been there before: busy days filled with endless tasks and responsibilities. Sometimes it feels like there simply aren’t enough hours in a day to accomplish everything we set out to do. But what if there was a way to maximize our time and productivity? Creating a daily schedule and setting hourly goals is a simple but effective method for staying on track and making the most of our precious time. If we break down our day into manageable chunks and prioritize our tasks, we can ensure that we stay focused and productive. With a little bit of planning and discipline, we can conquer even the busiest of days!

Take regular breaks throughout the day

It’s no secret that overworking and burnout can lead to decreased productivity and impaired cognitive performance. Taking regular breaks throughout the day is an important strategy for reducing stress, maintaining focus, and boosting creativity.

Whether it’s a five-minute break or a thirty-minute lunch break, permitting yourself to take time away from your desk can recharge your batteries and improve your overall well-being.

Have healthy snacks nearby for energy boosts

When we’re in the midst of a busy workday, it’s easy to neglect our diet and reach for unhealthy snacks or convenience foods. But having healthy snacks close by can be beneficial for both mental and physical energy levels. Keeping a well-stocked snack drawer with nuts, fruits, and other nutrient-rich options can help you maintain focus throughout the day while providing an energy boost. By giving our bodies the nourishment they need, we can stay alert, focused, and ready to take on whatever challenges come our way.

Make sure your workspace is organized

Working in a cluttered and disorganized workspace can be highly distracting and can often lead to decreased productivity and focus. For this reason, it’s important to make sure that your workspace is organized and tidy, with everything you need within easy reach. This means taking the time to declutter and sort through any unnecessary papers or clutter on your desk, ensuring that your essential tools and supplies are easily accessible, and having a designated space for everything you need.

No matter if you work from home or in an office environment, adopting an organized workspace can help you stay focused and on track throughout the day, ultimately leading to more success and satisfaction in your work.

Utilize music or noise-cancelling headphones

As you sit down to work on a daunting task, it can be all too easy to get distracted by the constant noise around you. If it’s the chatter of co-workers, phones ringing, or a busy street outside your window, all these noise distractions can take away from our productivity. To combat this problem, consider using music or noise-canceling headphones to create an environment where you can focus and tune out any external noise.

Optimizing your office environment and habits can lead to dramatic improvements in your productivity, comfort, and overall well-being. With these tips and tricks in mind, you can transform your working time in the office and preserve your health and sanity in the process. It’s all about finding the right balance and making the choices that work best for you.

Tech Review – ZAGG Pro keyboard 15

Keyboards are a vital accessory for content creators journalists and more and especially those in office environments and ZAGG have announced a slew of new keyboards recently for you to check out and they are very robust and simple to use, keyboard type though is subjective to each user though as you have travel and tactility to think about, for me I typically use square keys and I use chromebooks most of the time and again keys are square and near flat on my laptops.

I have not used a standalone keyboard in years however I am changing my set-up at home to a monitor and this keyboard will fit right in after using it for a few weeks and have come to like it, This even works on a mobile phone which is great and has multipoint connection so you can use up to three devices at once which suits me perfectly right now, On one test I used my Galaxy Z flip5 and two chromebooks so moving between either is simple with the three standout blue keys up top of the keyboard, there is also and extra numeric keypad on the right which is something I have not used in years and last used on an old dell laptop which is handy for some people.

A few keys have a backlight for ease of use and the keys are perfectly sized although it did take me some time to get use to the travel and tactility but you can adjust fairly fast however I have big fingers and typing is always an issue when speed typing but that is just me but there is others out there like me.

One thing I have noticed is less fatigue on the fingers and hand after using this for some time which is valuable for someone like me who is constantly on my laptop writing tech reviews, even if not on the laptop I can use my phone which sometimes I do to get the ball moving on some things which have some urgency so if in a hotel room or travelling this keyboard works much better than the tiny keys on my phone and being a Flip phone this pair well with it.

Like I said a keyboard is subjective and or me this is the first one I have used in years and it is perfect for my needs, looks good and is robust with a super batter life and comes with wireless charging and you should check it out, check the video below for more.

Is The Office v Working From Home Battle Coming To An End?

Three years on from the first Covid lockdowns, is the on-going conflict between working from home and returning to the office, coming to an amicable end?

Global video conferencing manufacturer Boom Collaboration feels peace might finally be on the horizon, as a clearer and more consistent picture begins to emerge.

Texas-based Boom Collaboration was founded by Fredrik Hörnkvist and Holli Hulett in 2020, ironically right in the middle of the pandemic! The company initially saw an explosion in demand for USB home working devices but is now witnessing a 40% rise in office video bars plus a 32% growth in high performance PTZ cameras and expandable audio devices, this year.

Office real estate apocalypse

“Through these interesting, challenging and evolving times, from lockdowns to hybrid working, conferencing has been at the fulcrum of dramatic changes in daily and working life; how people interact and communicate, almost from anywhere,” Hulett explained.

“In many ways there’s no going back to how we were before in an increasingly AI-driven world.”

She says the impact on the office property market has been particularly hardest hit with the true costs yet to fully emerge.

“There are widespread reports of a $500 billion ‘office real estate apocalypse’ where the effect of remote working in the US is even worse than expected,” she highlighted. “But what is in little doubt is how offices around the world have had to restructure to the ‘new normal’ creating more huddle room facilities to accommodate more video meetings.”

Hörnkvist, who recently visited the UK, noted: “We know these trends are mirrored around the world with one in five Londoners estimated to be working remotely, while four out of ten balance working from home with going to the office. Three-quarters would leave their job if they were no longer able to work from home for some of the week, according to one recent study.”

But he feels ‘it’s a lot more complicated argument than just wanting to work from home’.

Mixed bag

“There’s still a ton of companies pushing hybrid and in person. Maybe the real estate crash will not be that bad. Time will tell.

“Some companies at first were looking to go full remote but now they have requested staff to come back. Some went full time whilst others prefer hybrid. Some will never go back. It’s kind of a mixed bag. The key is to be flexible to maintain their culture and retain a happy workforce.”

Going full remote can be difficult to achieve, according to Hulett. “Even here at Boom we are a relatively small team dispersed across many miles but we all value getting together in person on a regular basis when we can. There’s a balance.

“Face-to-face meetings and direct human interaction on a regular basis matter and add value in so many ways. There’s social interaction as well as business benefits.

“However much some people want to work from home in terms of a work life balance, they still need to be face-to-face regularly, rather than just being isolated. Obviously high performance video technology offers a compelling alternative.”

She continued: “One of the main arguments I used to hear from friends is, what is the point of being in the office if my colleagues are not there so I end up on a video call anyway that I could have made from home?

“Regular patterns of behaviour are being formed with people in the office with key colleagues when they need to be, and working remotely too. This can boost business productivity and smooth any friction between departments.”

No war

Hulett concluded: “Over recent years there seems to have been a constant battle between the office or hybrid work. But it doesn’t need to be that way. There’s a benefit to both and that’s certainly the view of many of our customers around the world.

“Our portfolio is built with tomorrow’s meetings in mind. We offer future proof solutions with solid components and technology to stand the test of time. From all-in-one-systems to multiple video camera mixing controllers and full room solutions.

“We recognise quality makes a huge difference. It really matters. That’s why we went straight into 4K picture resolution for example. 4K is the future. It’s about continually raising the game and raising the bar. Our flexible technology covers all bases.

“Wherever people are working the latest video conferencing technology can help. The battle is over. There’s no war. Peace is being restored.”

Ireland Tops Euro Poll for Working from Home Growth

Of the 27 EU member states, Ireland has come out on top when it comes to how its workforce has adopted remote working. Malta; the Netherlands, Germany and France also feature in the top five (See Appendix).

BNP Paribas Real Estate Ireland (BNPPRE) reports that its analysis of Eurostat data shows that, while the Netherlands has the highest percentage of its workforce engaged in remote working (over 50%), Ireland is leading the charge in terms of how rapidly remote working is taking the place of traditional office-based work.

In 2019, just 7% of Ireland’s workforce said they “usually” work from home – this figure soared to 25% in 2022, the biggest percentage point increase of any EU country.

Speaking to the analysis, John McCartney, BNPPRE’s Director of Research,

Ireland’s adaptability throughout the pandemic has been remarkable in many ways, not least the ease with which businesses and employees alike adjusted their working models.”

Of course this has had knock-on implications for commercial property. Over time remote working has enabled employers to adopt hot-desking and rostering systems which reduce the amount of office space they need to carry per employee.  In the absence of jobs growth this would subtract from the demand for office accommodation.  But Ireland is one of the EU’s most service-driven economies and, since the onset of Covid, we have created service sector jobs at more than twice the average rate in the EU.”

The impact of remote working on office demand has also been somewhat mitigated by a shift in occupier preferences.

“In line with a wider European trend, Irish organisations are typically now seeking less, but better quality office space.  This is driven by sustainability objectives and a need to optimise the employee experience in a tight labour market.”

The BNPPRE analysis shows that 27.9% of Ireland’s employees work in desk-based sectors compared with an EU average of 24.6%.   The number of desk based jobs in Ireland has risen by 15% since the onset of Covid-19 in Q1 2020, compared with an EU average of 6.9%.

How Has The Office Workspace Changed In The Past 20 Years?

The office workspace has gone through its fair share of changes over the past two decades. Technological advances, new trends in workplace design, and shifts in employers’ and employees’ attitudes have all had a major influence on how work is performed. In this blog post, we’ll take a look back at some of the biggest developments that have affected what the modern workspace looks like today – from open-plan offices to flexible workspaces for remote staff. With an understanding of how the office environment has evolved over time, companies can better anticipate where their own workspaces might be headed next!

Hot desking trends

Hot desking trends have been on the rise in recent years, as employers look to make better use of their office space while also promoting collaboration and flexibility among employees. Through hot desking, each employee is assigned a desk that they can occupy for any given day or week. By doing this, companies are able to reduce their need for additional desks or furniture for overflow staff. This trend has been particularly popular among startups and smaller companies with fluctuating staffing levels. Also, when choosing hot desking solutions, it’s important to consider the culture of your organization and ensure that everyone is on board with this arrangement. It’s also important to provide adequate storage solutions for each employee, so they can keep their workspace organized and clutter-free.

A Look at Pre-Pandemic Office Trends

In a world before COVID-19, office environments were already experiencing changes in trends. Open floor plans, remote work options, and flexible schedules were becoming more common. The rise of technology allowed for more efficient communication and collaboration, leading to increased productivity and creativity. However, with the pandemic, these trends have been accelerated and expanded. Working from home has become a necessity for millions of employees, and companies have had to adapt to provide adequate resources and support. As we continue to navigate this new normal, it’s interesting to reflect on how quickly and drastically office trends can change in response to external circumstances.

How the Requirements of Working from Home Impacts Design

Ever since remote work became a norm, the importance of designing homes that accommodate a work set-up has become even more essential. From setting up a comfortable and functional workspace to organizing office equipment, designing a home that can accommodate the demands of remote work has become a top priority. The impact is not just limited to physical layouts but also extends to aspects such as lighting, sound, and even color palettes. With a focus on ergonomics and maximizing productivity, designers are incorporating smart solutions and multi-functional furniture to help individuals create productive home office environments. As the trend of remote work continues to grow, it’s become increasingly important for modern design to keep this shift in mind when creating living spaces.

The Advantages of a Flexible Workspace

Flexibility is key. And this includes your workspace. More and more companies are turning to open floor plans as a way to provide employees with a more flexible work environment. The advantages are clear: an open floor plan encourages collaboration and communication. It allows employees to work more closely with colleagues, which can lead to increased productivity and better problem-solving. Plus, the lack of walls and partitions creates a more light-filled and enjoyable work environment. So if you’re looking for a way to boost your company’s productivity and enhance employee satisfaction, consider ditching the cubicles and embracing a more flexible workspace with an open floor plan.

Incorporating decorative indoor fountains can further enhance the atmosphere, providing a calming and aesthetically pleasing environment that promotes focus and reduces stress. Additionally, flexible workspaces can support a variety of work styles, from quiet corners for deep concentration to collaborative zones for team brainstorming, ensuring that all employees have the ideal setting to thrive.

Creativity in the Workplace

Creativity is a high priority for many workplaces, as innovation fuels growth and pushes boundaries. To promote creativity, several offices are adopting standing desks and breakout spaces. These improvements encourage employees to move around and approach tasks from different perspectives. Standing desks allow for more movement throughout the day, preventing physical fatigue and keeping the body engaged. Breakout spaces encourage collaboration and socialization, fostering an atmosphere of creativity and teamwork. These changes may seem small, but they can have a significant impact on an employee’s well-being and productivity. By investing in creative-focused environments, businesses can help their teams thrive and achieve success.

The modern office is constantly evolving in order to stay ahead of the curve. By considering trends from both pre-pandemic and post-pandemic eras, employers can gain valuable insight into how best to design their office space for maximum productivity, creativity, and collaboration. Through a combination of hot desking solutions, open floor plans, breakout spaces, and flexible schedules, companies can create an environment that encourages productivity and innovation. By staying up-to-date on the latest trends, employers are better equipped to design a workspace that promotes creativity and collaboration among their employees.

Irish physicists win European Inventor Award 2023 with their advanced acoustic material to tackle noise pollution

The European Patent Office (EPO) announced  that Irish inventors Rhona Togher and Eimear O’Carroll are the winners in the ‘SMEs’ category of the European Inventor Award 2023. Selected from over 600 candidates, these inventors created an advanced acoustic material that reduces noise to address chronic sleep issues.

We are honoured to win the European Inventor Award in the ‘SMEs’ category and would like to express our sincere gratitude to the European Patent Office. This award recognises many years of hard work and commitment to making the world a quieter place. It is a genuine privilege to be acknowledged alongside so many noteworthy inventors who have made such significant contributions to their fields,” say Togher and O’Carroll.

According to the European Environment Agency (EEA) approximately 20% of the EU population lives in areas with unacceptable noise and vibration levels. High noise levels have been linked to poor sleep and higher instances of heart problems. Due to noise pollution, the EEA estimates that 22 million people across Europe currently suffer from chronic high annoyance, whilst 6.5 million suffer chronic high sleep disturbance. Exposure to loud noise can also cause high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep disturbances, and stress.

A sound solution for millions of people

Togher and O’Carroll’s invention, SoundBounce™, is a composite technology that reduces the negative effects of loud noise. It consists of a responsive material housed within a cellular structure that responds to agitation by becoming liquid and absorbing energy. One of its innovative features is the invention’s cellular structure; the second is a thixotropic gel (capable of liquefying when agitated and resolidifying when allowed to stand) placed inside the cells. Once sealed, they work together to dampen sound, reducing noise transmission from one space to another. This new material can also be integrated into machinery and vehicles to reduce noise output. It can be used in the automotive, construction, aerospace and home appliance industries.

This material is particularly effective at low frequencies, which present a significant challenge connected to products with engines, vibrations, and airflow. SoundBounce’s thinner material means that aeroplanes or vehicles using it could be lighter, thus reducing fuel consumption and leaving more space. In addition to the environmental advantages related to noise reduction, the materials used to make SoundBounce have a low environmental impact as they are non-toxic, and recyclable at end of lifeSince SoundBounce was created, Togher and O’Carroll’s company has developed partnerships with renowned organisations such as the European Space Agency.

Receiving this award serves as a reminder of the importance of innovation and the impact it can have on our society. We hope that this recognition will inspire others, especially young girls, to pursue their own inventions and to continue to push the boundaries of what is possible,” say Togher and O’Carroll.

The Irish duo behind the innovation have been named winners in the ‘SMEs’ category for this year’s European Inventor Award, which recognises outstanding inventors with inventions patented in Europe. All the winners of the 2023 edition of the European Inventor Award were announced at a hybrid ceremony in Valencia (Spain)

Tech Review – Benks Infinity Basic Tablet Stand for iPads and more.

Many of us have more than one device to play with or work on be it at home or in the office but having that second device like a tablet or phone is sat beside you on the table which can get in the way but what if there was a premium product that solved that and kept it out of the way but in a position to use it and the product looks good on your desk? Well here is the answer right here from Benks who have some really nice innovative products and we have test some of these before which you will get a glimpse of in this video or by searching Benks on site.

Boasting a solid aluminum construction and designed to be easily portable, Benks Infinity Basic Pad Stand is the perfect accessory to transform your Pad into an efficient workstation. This foldable stand will keep your Pad secure, offering compatibility with all Pads.

As the company states the solid build of the product alone and design gives this a leap over your typical plastic made offerings on the market and this can not only hold your tablet you can use a phone a phone or tablet if it is small for example or your iPad if you have one which I do not personally own at the minute but that might change yet.

This can swivel from the base and again something you do not see too often and is more a fixed option you tend to find in stores etc and this can also be folded away which means portability again unlike others which are again a fixed alternative and makes it ideal to fit in your travel bag or bring it to your office or even have on your bedside locker giving you easy access to whatever device you may use and for me I could also put my chromebook on it and it remains super stable and another way it can be used and nicely raised and easy to access and use as normal if working on two laptops at a time which can be the case.

Top top it off it allows heat dissipation on the back unlike other stands which would be a solid piece so what is there not to like about this? Check out the video below for more.

Ideally this is for someone who wants to have clean desk who uses more than one device and have them at hand to do other things on another device such as social media emails and more and do it in style.
