An Introduction to KYC and Why It’s Crucial

As the Internet becomes more and more accessible, the risks of issues like fraud and money laundering also increase. Different industries need to avoid illegal activities. They also must ensure the safety of their customers’ personal information. Since everyday things can be done online, while sitting behind a screen, the potential for fraudulent pursuits is at an all-time high. One way to do so is by the use of KYC processes. Let’s see what this entails and how it becomes a crucial part of any institution’s due diligence.

What is Know Your Customer (KYC)?

As the name suggests, KYC is a verification process that informs a company about its customers’ identities. It varies from one industry to another. However, the primary aspects include:

  • Document verification,
  • Facial verification,
  • Address verification.

These three elements tell a company who its customers are. It also informs whether their information is legitimate. Various laws and regulations influence other parts of the Know Your Client procedure. This depends on which industry is considered.

KYC Verification in Online Casinos

Online gambling is all the rage these days. New Irish online casinos are popping up regularly, attracting thousands of users worldwide. Since every online casino deals with real money, having a strong KYC procedure is necessary. Many top rated casino sites do this already, as online casinos’ safety depends on it. Users go through a verification process in every top casino checked by Irishcasinorius experts, so gambling in Ireland is secure. Customer identification is essential to prevent fraud on online gambling sites. This is why your ID and proof of address are often required when registering for an account.

KYC in Financial Institutions

ID verification is especially important for banks and financial institutions to thwart attempts of money laundering. Many wrongly believe that KYC and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) are separate processes, but they go hand in hand. The Know Your Client actions at a bank involve verifying identities and addresses via government-issued documents. Not only banks but other financial services like cryptocurrency exchanges also have a KYC process. Cryptocurrency platforms may also perform additional checks. This includes assessing people’s credit history, previous legal issues, risk factors, etc.

Real Estate Verification of Identity

KYC checks are usually termed VOI, or Verification of Identity, in the real estate industry. The process involves checking the identity and address details of customers who are buying or selling property. Companies also confirm their clients’ financial history and stability. All this is important to ensure that a property isn’t being bought for suspicious activity, etc. Document verification when dealing with real estate is a vital step to prevent fraudulent or otherwise dangerous activities.

Conveyancing KYC

Conveyancing KYC is done when a property is being transferred from one person to another. After confirming the client’s identity, the company usually checks their creditworthiness, owned assets, and current income. Such information is needed to make sure the transaction will go through and to avoid judicial settlements.

Job Candidates’ Identity

No one wants to hire someone who might end up becoming a risk or liability for the company. That’s why every company should verify the identity of each candidate. It’s no secret that technology has changed our lives in many ways. People don’t need to physically appear in offices to drop their CVs. Instead, they can simply apply online. This is what makes KYC necessary for recruitment purposes. Other than confirming someone’s identity, companies also need information about their employment history, criminal history, and qualifications.

Alcohol Industry Customers’ Identification

Many industries still don’t follow KYC requirements. The alcohol industry is a good example of this. Since IDs are not always checked during deliveries and purchases, underage drinking continues at a rapid pace. More and more kids are drinking, which leads to plenty of other issues like drunk driving, underage pregnancies, assault, etc. There is a dire need for ID verification when alcohol is being bought to minimize this issue. The industry also needs to develop infrastructure that is equipped to detect fake documents.

KYC in Medical Institutions

Among the biggest threats faced by the medical industry in this regard is identity theft. Many people tend to steal the identities of actual patients, including their insurance data. This is then used to buy drugs prescribed to the patients. Such fraudulent activities are harmful to those who actually need the medication. Hospitals and pharmacies find it tough to know who is a real patient and who is not.

This is why KYC and AML regulations are so important to implement in the healthcare sector. Identity verification through technology like facial or fingerprint verification is one solution. When institutes ask their customers for insurance data while utilizing some sort of recognition technology, the risk of fraud is reduced.

Bottom Line

Knowing Your Customer holds a ton of weight, especially in today’s digital world. These days, everything can be done online. A lot of the time, you don’t have to meet your customer physically. Ensuring their identity, therefore, becomes impossible without KYC practices in place. This is particularly true for the financial industry where people can commit fraud and launder money. But other industries also need KYC, whether it is an Irish casino, a healthcare institute, or a company hiring someone new.

What are Far Infrared Rays? Its biological effects or medical applications?

Far Infrared Radiation (FIR) is invisible natural sunlight radiation holding the lengthiest wavelength of about 3 to 1000 μm. These wavelengths are within the infrared scope of electromagnetic beams. These rays, emitted from recovery units, have the same benefits natural sunlight rays have. The only difference between both radiations is that sunlight contains harmful ultraviolet rays, whereas Far Infrared Rays do not include these skin-burning harmful UV rays.

Far Infrared Radiation therapy is also called Hyperthermia. These rays penetrate the skin surface deeply, up to 1.5 inches under the skin. It boosts the temperature of the body surface in a mild manner. It also stimulates body processes.

FIR mats or heating pads are proven effective for Far Infrared Therapy. They penetrate warmth deeply inside the skin. All FIR mats or heating devices serve the same until the temperature is constant for all devices. Avoid higher temperatures to reduce the risk of burns.

Benefits:

Warmth enhances the vigor of the body. Similarly, Far Infrared Radiation is a safe, efficient, and effective thermal therapy that brings multiple positive aspects to life. It has many benefits and can work wonders on health. Some of the advantages of Far Infrared Rays on human health are:

Far Infrared Radiation can bolster the cardiovascular system by extending blood capillaries and increasing blood circulation throughout the body, leading to healthy organs and adequate functioning of tissues. It also boosts cell health, heart pace, rejuvenation, and oxygen supply. Plus, it lowers diastolic blood pressure. The risk of heart disease lessens.

These rays also improve detoxification and motivate the lymphatic system to drain the leaked blood vessel fluid from the tissues through lymph nodes. It burns fats and removes toxins present in the blood.

In Asia, Far Infrared Radiation therapy is used broadly in Japan. Whereas in Europe, it is used the most by healthcare professionals in Germany to cure multiple ailments in living organisms.

Scientific study:

Some scientific studies conducted by scientists in Japan in 2003 revealed that FIR therapy mends wounds rapidly without any risks or side effects by promoting a bunch of cells termed fibroblasts. These fibroblasts produce more collagen in the body. Thus, promoting tissue repairing and injury healing process. Because Far Infrared Radiation provides thermal therapy, it can loosen tight muscles of your body. These include both muscles: physical and mental. Hence, it alleviates muscle spasms receding tension and stress in the body, and anxiety, depression, and other disorders of the body.

FIR promotes protein and DNA synthesis. Far Infrared Radiation also heightens the production of white blood cells termed leukocytes to improve the immune system or defensive system. In addition, it also reduces swellings, aches, discomfort, soreness, and inflammation of any affected body region as it warms the muscle fibers. FIR therapy is anti-oxidative in nature. For this reason, it can produce more collagen in the body, resulting in tightening wrinkled skin and lessening breakouts.

It helps to increase the temperature of malignant cells. The standard cell temperature is 32 degrees Celsius, but if it reaches 42 degrees Celsius or 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit, it gets impossible for the cell to survive. The malignant cells and tumors get destroyed. In this way, the body remains free of cancer.

FIR mats are available in the market with many features to help you get Far Infrared Radiation therapy. Always choose the correct FIR mat that suits your inflammation and aches. Avoid extra heat and try to purchase a device that allows modification of its settings. Excessive heating levels may increase inflammation rather than decrease it by burning the skin.

Ecommerce Medical Supplies: How Can Wholesalers and Distributors Sell Online?

Due to B2B eCommerce, interest in medical and pharmaceutical wholesalers has been reignited. As the population ages, and the number of medical innovations grows, it appears the growth in the medical devices sector and B2B eCommerce is now palpable. Further, medical wholesale and distribution companies have now realized that eCommerce medical supplies are increasingly popular and are being used to sell their products to other businesses. Take a look at the statistics below:

Regarding B2B marketplaces, 67% of wholesale businesses allow customers to place orders online, making having your B2B marketplace essential. (b2bwave.com)

The B2B eCommerce market will be twice the size of the B2C market by 2020. (PricewaterhouseCoopers)

Within the next two decades, 85% of all B2B buyer-seller relationships will be carried out entirely without human intervention. (Forrester)

Only 11% of medical supply and pharmaceutical businesses currently offer a B2B eCommerce option, so wholesalers have a significant opportunity to benefit from B2B eCommerce. (b2bwave.com)

Regarding eCommerce, it is crucial to consider all nuances of a specific industry. The responsibility of healthcare supply providers is much bigger than in any other niche. Medical supplies may need additional investments in software development for healthcare to create a system where users can track details like meds expiration dates, logistics details, cooperation records with different medical institutions and trusted distributors.

Invariably, consumers are already looking for specific products they want to buy online, so wholesale medical companies are focusing on finding new customers and new markets. When taken into consideration, a B2B eCommerce site works as your 24/7 sales representative. It helps to note that to expand your business and sell your products, you can use eCommerce to reach worldwide markets far beyond your physical location.

Undoubtedly, customers’ decisions when purchasing products online are heavily influenced by accessible product data. Yet, with eCommerce, you don’t have to invest extensive resources, and it helps you expand your customer base and sales without setting up new offices.

Moreover, bolstering brand awareness is crucial. When wholesale eCommerce B2B is added to selling medical devices and services, it is essential in enhancing content marketing and social media marketing. One way to increase your rank in search results is to optimize your products and pages for SEO. By using digital marketing, you can identify and maximize your marketing ROI.

Retain Your Customers

It is critical for any business to keep customers, and the consumer experience plays a major role. Loyal customers are indeed a vital component of wholesale medical supply and distribution. eCommerce stores help bring in new customers, and they also help enhance the customer experience for clients already shopping with you.

Primarily, your wholesale medical distribution eCommerce site gives your customers round-the-clock, annual and 365-degree access to your services. Customers can add new orders, follow their order statuses, and access real-time purchase information. Wholesale medical buyers will genuinely appreciate the time savings from this type of self-service.

Offer Instant Access

Typically, customers visit eCommerce sites using a mobile phone or computer. Since it’s in an online format, eCommerce wholesale medical and distribution businesses are much more accessible relative to brick-and-mortar stores. Therefore, consider ways to penetrate new markets and increase revenue by using eCommerce solutions. You can support B2B customer demands with an eCommerce presence and centralized admin dashboard to manage all your sites from one place.

Also, improving operational efficiency is critical for any B2B medical supply eCommerce business. With automation, you can mitigate errors caused by human input easily. You won’t have to hire new employees, because with eCommerce, there are no additional tasks necessary to manage your business. When you automate time-consuming manual tasks, then your staff can focus on making customer service improvements.

Make the Most of Your Data

Data and analytics have the potential to transform your wholesale medical business if used correctly. By increasing overall digitization, certain aspects of your business can be evaluated and measured more easily. eCommerce businesses are wise to incorporate marketing campaigns, customer service effectiveness, product mix, and customer service effectiveness.

Nonetheless, figuring out how much to spend and where to spend it can be a challenging task. It is often difficult for organizations to choose between these two pressing options. Additionally,  eCommerce can be a much more complex undertaking for business-to-business (B2B) customers than business-to-consumer (B2C) customers.

The most pressing needs of B2B eCommerce include customized product catalogs, multiple approvals, and financing. Still, there are solutions that can meet your online medical distribution needs.

Thus, it would help if you focused on maintaining a few critical functions while looking for scalable alternatives. Consider using a platform that can provide permissions and roles for different users. Further, the checkout must accommodate various payment methods and include the ability to buy. External gateway managers may be helpful for your B2B eCommerce operation.

It’s essential to select a user-friendly solution and a more straightforward method of ordering and reordering to keep your customers happy. Actually, to make the shopping experience easier, implement a one-page checkout. Don’t forget to capture and analyze data.

Remember to Integrate

To provide high levels of flexibility, it is critical to evaluate B2B capabilities, such as integrating with existing ERP and other back-end systems. While B2B eCommerce is an online ordering system, it offers the potential for so much more than that. Customers’ expectations have evolved over the years, and they demand self-service and instant gratification.

A solid technical support department and an extensive partner network are invaluable resources for eCommerce businesses. When you trace the growth of both the B2B eCommerce sector and the medical sector, you can easily find a clear line of convergence. By fully taking advantage of this, you can effectively offer your products and support via the Internet.

Enhance Brand Recognition

Losing out on brand awareness is a serious issue. When eCommerce B2B is added to selling medical devices and services, it is essential in sprucing up content marketing and social media marketing.

To increase the likelihood of your prospects visiting your medical B2B eCommerce website, optimizing your products and pages with SEO so search engines can index is crucial. Also, by taking advantage of your platform’s digital marketing features, you can identify and maximize marketing ROI.

Consider Vital Features

It would help if you focused on maintaining a few critical functions while looking for something scalable. The platform must also provide permissions and roles for different users. In addition, the checkout must accommodate various payment methods and include the ability to buy at any time. External gateway managers may be helpful for your B2B eCommerce site.

To retain a competitive advantage, a user-friendly solution and an easier method of ordering and reordering should be included. Actually, to make the shopping experience easier, implement a one-page checkout.

If you want to provide high levels of flexibility, it is critical to evaluate B2B eCommerce capabilities, such as integrating with existing ERP and other back-end systems. As customer behavior has shifted, so has how customers research, buy goods and services through eCommerce. A solid technical support department and an extensive partner network are invaluable resources for medical wholesale businesses.

eProcurement and Punchout.

If you’re a medical supplier and sell to large organizations, you’re likely going to need to have a punchout catalog. A punchout catalog connects to their eProcurement system which is like an eCommerce intranet where they can purchase from all their providers from a centralized platform. This saves them time and money because they can have a centralized purchasing intranet they can order all their supplies from. Green Wing Technology is one of the leading punchout catalog providers and can help you develop your punchout catalog fast.

FREE NOW launches “Medical” initiative offering Healthcare Heroes 50% off taxi fares to help battle against COVID-19 #FreeNow #Medical #Healthcare

Ireland’s leading e-hailing app FREE NOW has created a new “Medical” booking option which offers a 50% taxi-fare reduction to help the travel of healthcare heroes and support medical staff in the national fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new mechanism allows vital healthcare workers to select the new “Medical” fleet-type option on the app to book their taxi and to get 50% off their fare. These critical staff then just need to show their medical ID to drivers at the start of their trip, with FREE NOW taking no commission from drivers for these trips.

It follows a FREE NOW survey of its drivers across Ireland, that showed an overwhelming 87% expressing their desire to directly support healthcare staff in their vital work.

The new support will be available from mid-morning today to all front-line medical practitioners, supporting healthcare workers as well as those working in primary care services, including porters, cleaners and hospital receptionists.

In a recent survey, FREE NOW drivers have highlighted some of the precautions they are taking to ensure their cars remain clean. These include providing passengers with tissues and keeping the windows slightly open, cleaning their car after every trip, including  wiping down door handles and seats as well as only accepting card or app payments to limit the use of cash.

Alan Fox, FREE NOW General Manager, Ireland, said: “The health and safety of passengers, driver partners and staff is our top priority and we are now looking at new ways to adapt the fleet of 14,000 taxis to meet the COVID-19 challenge across Ireland.  This new initiative will support the movement of vital healthcare workers performing critical duties, as well as helping drivers to generate income in this incredibly challenging time. We are already working with the HSE as an approved transport supplier to aid its critical work and we are actively guiding drivers and partners on the transport-specific hygiene measures required in line with HSE, Department of Health and government guidance. It is a testament to FREE NOW drivers that they are willing to step up, even when their earnings are taking a hit in these uncertain times to keep Ireland moving.”

Joe Herron, president of the Irish Taxi Drivers’ Federation, said: “Taxi drivers are extremely glad to be able to play their part in the COVID-19 fight. Our services have been badly hit by the virus and our profession is particularly vulnerable, so this FREE NOW initiative is to be welcomed for multiple reasons.  Taxi drivers have been deemed an essential service by the government, and this initiative will help vital healthcare workers to get to their critically important jobs as well as supporting struggling drivers in this, the most difficult of times.”

FREE NOW has recommended that drivers and passengers adhere to HSE, Department of Health and government guidance when travelling, with drivers advised to disinfect their cars regularly and to switch to card payment only. The company has temporarily turned off its Match taxi-sharing service.

FREE NOW is offering a similar service in Spain, Poland, Romania and the UK and is looking at how this can be rolled out to the 10 countries it operates in across Europe. The “Healthcare Heroes” booking option is available for all healthcare workers from today and will run in the FREE NOW app for the foreseeable future.

Google helps Doctors on africa with the Ebola-proof Tablet By @VicenteA_George #Google #Tablet

Even with today’s technology most of the medical procedure is made by humans, but there’s some cases when that could be dangerous for the patient and doctor. Cases like the Ebola crisis need special measures, that’s why Google has created the “Ebola-proof Tablet”

Doctors Without Borders made a request to google to make them a better tool for work, and so Google answered with this slate housed in a special casing to make sure it could withstand the terrible weather in West Africa.

The Tablet is based on a Water and dust proof Sony Tablet plus it can be submerged in chlorine to kill off any remnants of the Ebola virus, and also have wireless charging built in and rounded edges to avoid rip the doctors suits.

When the alrt start the doctors weren’t allowed to have paper and pens with them for the special suits, and they have to yell the diagnosis and what they see to other person outside the tent, something that always ended up with errors.

Mr Ivan Gayton, MSF’s technology adviser said:

“The information stored on the devices will help map symptom patterns and the open-source technology could be deployed for other disease outbreaks.”

This is a huge improvement on medical tech, we’re getting close to find sources of virus without exposing more life.

Stay tuned for more Tech advances.
