Tech Review – Pixel Buds Pro

Ok so I have spent some time now with the Pixel Buds Ppro and did not rush out a review just three days after getting them as it would be unjust and just lies being honest to get an honest opinion too, I also was hoping the full EQ suite would arrive by now but it has not but when that update does drop I will be back with more and frankly being a pair or PRO earbuds this should have been included at launch but it is what it is and that’s how things go in the tech world.

I did give a first impressions when the review embargo was lifted but as mentioned not enough time and since then my thoughts are even better again minus that EQ update having said that you could get away with even using it the earbuds are that good, coming in at the price they do some might feel short changed but having used the pixel buds now from their inception shortchanged is not the word I would use at all but again they are on the higher side with price, there is other manufacturers out there that do charge more and give less for your hard earned cash.

We are not going down this road either “are they worth buying” clickbait like with any review and just tell you how it is and that is it and that is how we always operate and the same applies for our video review below where we have a look at them in our hands and get some real context.

The case and battery

The case is slightly larger as seen in the unboxing unless I need my eyes tested which is still fine I love the design though and it feels like a pebble in the hand and comes with wireless charging too which for me is great, the snap close lids seems sturdy too and should not open and the earbuds should not fall out regardless as the magnet is strong. If you do not like wireless charging you should also note that just 5 mins charge from a main will give you up to one hour. For the most they live up to expectation and what the manufacturers claims but knock off around 30-45 mins with max volume and ANC for the total time which is 7 hours.

Size and fit

So as in the unboxing nothing has changed here they are larger than before missing the wing tips but do not protrude too much either, people may be used to the smaller mint type shaped pixel buds A series which are still a cool pair of earbuds today but these fit well and will not fall out either they remain secure and stay put.

The app

The app is great once again and has all the features expected bar the full EQ suite at the time of writing this review it has plenty to play around with and lots of goodies pack inside and again you have got the option to find them if lost and they can be rang if required as they do often get misplaced around the house especially if you have kids. Connection is super fast as you will see in the video review too which is great..

Also in the app you have got your battery levels google assistant touch controls which are swipes/gestures single double or triple taps and touch and hold though the latter is for the Assistant which can be also customised to toggle active noise control on the left or right side. Overall the mentioned controls all worked really well for me during the test run.

Yes you have got ANC which has improved you have also got transparency and Off and again all worked well for me, the ANC is really good this time around however everyone’s ears are different but they are up there with well know ANC earbuds.

The sound

The most important bit but I still think there is better to come with the full EQ suite being honest and this did happen before with a previous pair and as is they do a great job, to simply it they are well balanced with a little bass but I do think they could be louder however that is more a personal preference but nonetheless decently loud and these are powered by custom 11mm drivers.

HIghs lows and mids are fine too and for music movies and more you will be pleased with what is on offer overall even some brand loyalists might be impressed here, you do need to do the seal test too for the best results like with any earbuds that offer this feature which is now seen more often especially in the high end and ensure you have the right tips too. Depending on what you listen to you might find some differences with instruments voice and genres but for the most there is not much to complain about, calls where fine too both ends for me and there was an issue before of calls dropping in their first pair of earbuds but this seems to have been fixed for now anyway from what I have seen for myself.

The Assistant here too is really cool which will allow you to have messages and emails etc read out to you without touching your phone I love this feature and it should become the standard today with the added benefits of multipoint connection it makes them more useful if you are a multi device user at home or in the office.

For 219 euros which is considered a high price and high end they are one of the cheaper offerings around there is slightly better out there for less but design might not suit those but if you are into aesthetics and good overall sound these are something to look at, We will be back again when the EQ settings get updated and see what has improved and we look forward to that.

Tech Review – TUDIA Dual Shield Merge Grip case for the Google Pixel 6a

Fancy a new case for the Google PIxel 6a well they are far and few between here in Ireland and we have one you could check out from TUDIA products which comes in a nice range of colours and does a superb job of protecting the device with a neat look too.

This case not only protects the rear of the phone and the camera hump this also has a lip around the front all round protecting the device even more and enabling you to place it face down, some case fail at this point only half covering the front but not the case here.

The back has really nice texture to it and looks well giving you additional grip as the Pixel 6a is a bit on the slippery side and having this case install eliminates this and more as you will see in the video review below, the buttons are also tactile and clicky which is what I like and overall the feeling with this case on the device is good and gives you that extra layer of security should you drop your phone and we all know that can be an expensive drop.

All ports are also accessible here and more room given for the USB port which again some leave out for certain charging cables that have a thicker end.

Check the video for a full hands on review

  • The Google Pixel 6a case is compatible with Pixel 6a only.
  • Certified military-grade protection and Tough Rhino Technology for dual layer protection against drops and scratches.
  • Protects your camera and screen with raised lips and edges.
  • The non-slip textured design on the back provides additional grip while holding your phone.
  • Buttons are designed to be slim and easily clickable for stress-free usage.

The Most Googled Bitcoin Questions, Answered

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that revolutionized the way we used to deal with digital transactions. However, there has been a considerable change in the mindset and perception regarding cryptocurrencies, but price fluctuation in this one aspect is constantly driving the attention of its opponents.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have a multitude of benefits like ease of transaction, hassle-free execution of transactions between two parties, decentralization, and others. However, price fluctuation is one aspect that is deeply impacting its growth.

However, it’s important to evaluate the analytical phase of the frequent market price change of Bitcoins. It’s not just with the cryptocurrencies, but even the stock and share market undergoes price electrician; however, when we compare the dynamism level, the frequency of fluctuation is higher in the crypto ecosystem as compared to the stock in the trade market.

Bitcoin Basics: Answers To Common Questions

1. Does Bitcoin have a limited supply?

The cycle of demand and supply impacts the pricing. In the case of bitcoin, there is an upper limit to the number of cryptocurrencies in the market. Of the 21 million bitcoins, 19 million bitcoins have already in mind, and the pending would be mine in the years to come. This limited supply makes the price fluctuate.

2. How does investment holdings impact the value of Bitcoin?

As per the National Bureau of Economic Research greater share of bitcoin is presently held by only a limited number of people. In 2020, 1/3rd of Bitcoin was held by 10,000 investors. Annum that how these investors are going to keep their holdings of bitcoin. Their investment decision impacts the price volatility of bitcoin. For example, last year, when Ellen mask announced his interest in what is coin had led to the rise in its pricing, while this adversely impacted the value of bitcoin.

3. Does news and media impact the crypto value?

While most investors recommend that one must not go with the hype created on the news and social media platforms. But we cannot undermine the fact that this also impacts the value of bitcoin. Rumors and news on cryptocurrencies can dramatically impact their value. For example, the recent news of war between Russia and Ukraine, when Russia announced that it might ban cryptocurrency, had impacted the value of the crypto assets. It is utmost important that the financial traders stay updated with the latest news in the crypto domain.

4. Which countries are introducing regulations in the crypto market?

Ever since the concept of the decentralized transaction was introduced, we have always focused on these transactions to be free from governance or any government control. While some see this as a positive move that will initiate mainstream acceptance of cryptocurrency transactions and trading, there is a section that believes that adding more regulations and stringent policies might impact the value of cryptocurrencies. Countries like Canada, the USA, India, and the UK have introduced regulations and taxation on the trading of crypto assets. This may impact the value of cryptocurrencies. Any such development can have a dramatic effect on the value of the cryptocurrency.

5. Is Bitcoin still a worthy financial investment option for the traders?

The question is pretty much evident. And most people might have this in their mind. With so much dynamism in the crypto market and price fluctuations that impact its value, every investor would once think about the fact of whether they should go ahead with crypto investment or not.

It is recommended that any investment decision, whether it is stock market or crypto assets, must be driven by thorough research and understanding of the market. A vigilant trader who is smart enough to keep a tab on the latest developments will ensure that he or she frames that trading strategy that will give them profitable outcomes.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, every Bitcoin trader should give importance to choosing the right crypto trading platform. These must be credible and also give you the leverage to explore different cryptocurrencies. Platforms like Bitcoin-Code app are going to give you a hassle-free trading journey. Exploring other crypto exchange platforms will also help you in assessing whether the trading platform that you are choosing is worth your time and money or not.

Tech Review – Official Google Pixel 6a case

it is a case we know what they are like but here is the Google Pixel 6a case in all its glory, simple and to the point an own brand case is always a good thing and this case is clean, thin and does the job out of the box which is what I want when I buy a new phone this case is not the denim type we have seen before but one from the last device the 6 and 6 pro which came in several colours.

This has that smokey effect and is thin, all ports are accessible and it looks nice on the phone and also gives you addition grip which is great, the Pixel 6a is not a behemoth like the 6 and 6 pro which are heavier phones so this case does a good job offer protection out of the gate. The clean simple style might not be everyone’s taste but it is what it is and for me will do the job and more cases will of course land with us soon.

Google is making sustainable travel an easier choice this summer as cycling increases by 40% worldwide

Climate change is a global issue as well as local and personal. As people are looking to travel to their holiday destinations, questions like “How to travel sustainably” are on everybody’s minds.

Google committed to empower 1 billion people through our products, to make the sustainable choice an easier choice. At the individual level, these choices may seem small, but when people have the tools to make them at scale, they equal big improvements.

Here’s how Google products help you get from A to B more sustainably this summer

  1. Getting to your holiday destination – The first step towards more sustainable holidays, is more sustainable planning. If you are going to a destination you can only reach by flying, Google Search helps you understand the CO2 emissions associated with each potential trip directly in Google Flights. A green badge next to the emissions number to help you sift through your options more easily, and you can filter all flights by “CO2 emissions” to easily find and book the flight with the lowest footprint.
To produce these estimates, we’re combining data from the European Environmental Agency with the flight-specific information we get from airlines and other providers such as aircraft type, trip distance and the number of seats in each seating class. In collaboration with the Travalyst coalition, we are helping to develop an open model for calculating carbon emissions from air travel and promote standardisation across the travel industry using this framework.

  1. Sleeping sustainably – Google Search helps you find hotels that have made significant commitments to green practices. This includes hotels that are certified for meeting high standards of sustainability from certain independent organisations, like Green Key or EarthCheck, will have an eco-certified badge next to their name. This helps you understand their eco-friendly practices, from waste reduction to energy efficiency or water conservation measures.

  1. Hop on your bike – Over the past few months, cycling has increased by more than 40% worldwide – which is no surprise given that the warmer weather and high petrol prices have people opting for more sustainable transportation choices. Google Maps has provided cycling directions for over 12 years thanks to AI paired with data from cities, trusted cartographic partners and feedback from the Google Maps community. Now, with our new cycling route information, you can easily compare bike routes and see even more granular details (when this data is available) to prepare for the ride ahead.

Just get cycling directions to any destination. In addition to seeing the elevation along your route, you’ll also know if you’ll encounter heavy car traffic, stairs or steep hills. You’ll also be able to get a highly detailed breakdown of the route itself so you can know at a glance what type of road you’ll be biking on – like a major road vs. a local street. Gone are the days of unknowingly pedaling up a strenuous hill or on a route with more car traffic than you’re comfortable with.

  1. Charge your EV easily – If you have an electric vehicle, Google Maps can help put your range anxiety at ease. Just search for “ev charging station” to see all of the stations nearby, along with helpful details, like the business where the station is located, port types and charging speeds. And for some stations, you can even see if a charger is available in real-time – helping you avoid the line and save valuable time. With cars with Google built in, Maps will even help you take that EV road trip, automatically helping you find stations along your route.

  1. Transit information – By tapping on the transit tab in Directions on Google Maps, you get directions to any place by bus, train, subway, and even ferry. When available, you can see real time arrival and departure times, transfer points, and any upcoming service delays. And, Google Maps gives you all the information you need to be prepared for your ride. Not only can you see how crowded your transit ride will be – so you can know if you’re likely to get a seat – but you can see helpful information, like whether there’s security on board, what the temperature is like, and if there are wheelchair accessible routes available

Almost 9 in 10 Irish Organisations Will Be Impacted by Google’s Cookie Changes

Marketing departments of organisations throughout Ireland are undergoing a fundamental shift in the way they use and capture data as a result of changes to how businesses can use 3rd party cookies. However, a survey from Compliance Institute of 144 compliance professionals within Irish organisations throughout the country, has found that although the oncoming changes from Google around the use of 3rd party cookie data will have implications for almost 9 in 10 businesses, there’s a widespread lack of awareness, with 74% of respondents say there’s little to no awareness of the issue within their organisation.

The survey also looked at whether or not marketing and compliance teams were working together to prepare and develop new data collections strategies in advance of these changes – more than half said there was no coloration at all, while a further 14% say they would like to be working more closely with the marketing department.

Michael Kavanagh, CEO of Compliance Institute (formerly Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland (ACOI), said the results point to a communication issue within Irish organisations that requires attention.

“In 2023, Google Chrome will block third party cookies and ca. 65% of the market globally, it will force marketers to consider other options. However, these findings point towards a lack of awareness, a lack of preparation, and possibly a lack of collaboration. All of which are concerning from a compliance perspective.

What this tells us is that organisations need to look at the area of data from a more holistic viewpoint. This is not just the domain of the marketers within the business – anything that relates to the collection or capture of data contains a GDPR element, which of course, is led, in the main, by compliance professionals.

It wasn’t all that long ago that the Data Protection Commission (DPC) issued a guidance note titled “Cookies and other tracking technologies”, which outlined what the DPC  considers best practice, and intended to ensure greater levels of adherence across Irish organisations. At the time, Irish organisations were required to review their cookie policies to ensure they met the standards as set by the EU.  It was at that stage collaboration between marketing and compliance teams was necessary to ensure that the organisation had all its t’s crossed and I’s dotted.

We need the same type of collaboration now”.

The Compliance Institute survey asked:

How much awareness is there in your organisation around the forthcoming changes from Google, and are actions being taken as a result?

                                                                                                                                                           %

  • A lot of awareness and we have made/ are making changes                                        8
  • A lot of awareness but we have yet to make any changes                                              5
  • A little awareness – some actions taken/ planned                                                         13
  • A little awareness – no actions taken/ planned                                                               24
  • No awareness that I know of                                                                                               37
  • It doesn’t apply to us                                                                                                             13

How closely are you working with your marketing department in the development of alternative data strategies to replace third party cookies?

                                                                                                                                                         %

  • Very closely                                                                                                                           18
  • We are working with them a little                                                                                      17
  • Not at all                                                                                                                                 51
  • We would like to be working more closely with the market department on this       14

Mr. Kavanagh concluded,

It is evident from our survey that greater cross collaboration and communication is needed marketers need to do more to engage with their compliance colleagues and vice versa.”

New entries & greatest employer gains

Meanwhile, the greatest gains in 2022 versus 2021 were for brewery manufacturer Heineken and ESB, both of which went up by 40 places among IT students.

Commenting on the research, Steve WardUK and Ireland Business DirectorUniversum said: “As the world of work continues to evolve and the competition to attract talent remains high, The Most Attractive Employers Index offers an important snapshot of the type of companies and attributes that current students and graduates are searching for in their future employer.

With renowned tech and pharmaceutical multinationals leading the way in this year’s Index, it’s clear that third-level students are keen to play their part in helping to shape the growing digital and scientific transformation that is underway across our economy and society, not only in Ireland, but across the globe.

Both science and technology played a vital role during the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling people to work from home, businesses to continue functioning and healthcare to take place virtually, while also resulting in the development of a number of vaccines to help protect people during what was an extremely unsettling and uncertain period.

The success of tech leaders such as Google, Microsoft, Apple and Intel in the market, and their ability to embrace new technologies and drive innovation during this period, have emerged as key drivers for students in choosing these companies, something which should help to give an indication of the type of attributes graduates today are searching for in their future employer.

It’s also encouraging to see Irish companies continue to rank well among students in this year’s Index, with the emergence from the pandemic having a particularly positive impact on the Irish airline sector. It is also good to see longstanding homegrown companies An Post and Irish Rail enter the rankings for the first time.

Through the Index today we want to help employers who are looking to attract up-and-coming talent with an insight into student preferences so they can take this on board when planning their talent acquisition strategies. Every company, no matter what sector it operates in, can illustrate an ability and willingness to embrace new technologies and innovate to drive their company forward. The findings today show us that by demonstrating the role a company is playing in helping to shape and drive the Fourth Industrial Revolution that is now underway, employers will be better positioned to attract and retain talent into the future.”

Best Tips to Optimize your Website for Google’s Page Experience Update!

Recent studies indicate that Google processes 3.5 million searches per day and processes 40,000 searches approximately every second.

Research also indicates that 75% of the users never go beyond the 1st page of the SERPs (search engine result pages).

These figures are enough to specify the impact of search engine ranking on digital business. Google constantly keeps on expanding its criteria for a better user experience. Introduction of Page Experience Signal is one of the new criteria announced by Google.

Decoding Google Page Experience Update:

Page experience is a set of rules that quantify the user experience during a web page visit. Last year (Nov 2020), Google announced page experience as a ranking signal implemented in April 2021 in the Google Search Criteria.

The motto of page experience update is to provide an improved web experience for all users, be it for desktop or mobile. Of course, multiple factors will impact the same, so let’s check them out.

Factors to be Included in Page Experience Update:

Apart from an enjoyable and memorable user experience, page experience is also measured by factors like website performance, page/site load speed, mobile-friendliness, visual stability, secured browsing, HTTPS (Hyper-text Transfer Protocol Secure), and display of intrusions (Ads). Also if you are a wordpress user check out the best WordPress theme for core web vitals.

In a nutshell, a page experience update will check the user experience and rank the same in the search results accordingly. Undoubtedly the good experiences have an advantage over bad ones. Though a few of these factors already exist in SEO, there are some new additions for gaining better precision in user experience.

Five signals cover the entire Google Page Experience Update, as shown in the below image.

1: Core Web Vitals:

Core Web Vitals measure the page performance with the help of 3 basic aspects.

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP):

LCP measures the complete page load time, including the content, images, if any, videos, etc.

An LCP of 2.5 seconds or less is ideal.

Removing any unused CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) or shifting them to another style sheet may also help reduce LCP time.

  • First Input Delay (FID):

FID tests the time between the user’s first interaction or the first click on a web page and the actual page response time.

An ideal FID score is 100 milliseconds or less.

  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS):

Visual stability of your content is important, which is measured by CLS. Unstable visuals or site layouts are responsible for a weak user experience. Ensure a CLS score of 0.1 or less to be in the ranking game.

2: Mobile-Friendly:

This signal verifies your page responsiveness for mobile devices.

3: Safe Browsing:

This signal checks the page’s security in terms of viruses and malware and verifies whether the same is free from other malicious content, links, bad downloads, etc., or not.

4: HTTPS:

This signal checks whether HTTPS security is present on your page or not by checking whether SSL certificate is installed on the website or not

5: No Intrusive Interstitials:

This signal checks the ease with which your content is displayed to the end-users. For example, intrusive interstitials like ads, while the page download process is on, will be checked and confirmed before the ranking for page experience update takes place.

Expectations from the Page Experience Update

Google gives an advance intimation of approximately six months regarding every update, and this portrays its sincerity and desire to web developers, business owners, SEO/IT team for making the necessary changes in their digital infrastructure before the update is finally rolled out in the market.

Example: For page experience update, the announcement was made in November 2020 and went partly live from April 2021, though it would take a few more months (August 2021) to be completely intertwined with all systems.

So slowly and steadily, page experience updates will start playing their complete role in SEO.

How to Prepare for the Page Experience Signal?

After this announcement, there has been a phenomenal rise in the usage of page performance tools like Google Page Speed Insights and KeyCDN Speed Test, etc.

You can also monitor the Core Web Vitals of your website with Core Web Vitals Report (on Google Search Console), which portrays your page performance and picks out the pages which need improvement. Fix these issues by using any page performance tools, and you’re back in business.

Mobile-Friendly Test to check out the site and page performance on mobile devices and Security Issues Report for checking the page for security issues can help in better page optimization.

Tips to Optimize your Website for Google’s Page Experience Update:

  • Make sure Your Site is Secured With SSL Certificate:

In an online business, if you wish to provide a memorable user experience to your visitors, website security is a must. No one likes to ponder on unsecured sites or risk purchases by punching in card details when unsure about their data privacy. Security lapses in site security can harm your SEO ranks.

Apart from using web security check tools like WPScan or Sucuri SiteCheck, for checking security issues on the website for fixing them, installing an SSL certificate for site and data security is a must.

SSL certificate encrypts all the website data (browser-server communications) by converting it into ciphertext, which looks like gibberish language. As a result, hackers cannot penetrate or misuse encrypted text, and hence customer and site data privacy is maintained.

This digital certificate transforms your website from HTTP to HTTPS, thus enhancing the page experience update signal.

I would recommend purchasing an SSL certificate from ClickSSL, which provides web securities at nominal rates for a decade. • Make sure Your Site is Responsive to Mobile and Other Devices:

Since mobile users cover almost half of the entire web traffic, your website and web pages need to be responsive to mobiles and tablets.

Statistics indicate that in the first quarter of 2021, mobile devices accounted for 54.8% of the global web traffic and are increasing every year.

One section of page experience update needs your website to be mobile-friendly for a better ranking. As stated above, Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test tool helps test your website’s responsiveness and pinpoint other page load issues.

It’s simple. Just click “view details” near the page loading issues and fix them as suggested by the tool.

WordPress plugins like OBox Mobile help in making your site mobile-friendly.

  • Make sure Your Site Speed is Swift:

Since page load time is one of the major factors of Core Web Vitals, being a site owner, you need to ensure that the faster the page load time, the better the user experience. Therefore, Google, too, condemns slow load time and gives priority to fast-loading sites.

An ideal page load time is less than 2 seconds. But, unfortunately, 40% of the customers abandon sites that take more than 3 seconds to load.

As stated above, Google’s Page Speed Insight Tool helps determine your site speed and scores your website from 1-100 where 0-49=poor, 50-89=improvement, and 90-100=good.

  • Make sure Your Site is Free from Intrusive Interstitials:

Ensure that your visitors are not displayed intrusive interstitials when they click your site from Google. These intrusions are pop-up ads that make site content inaccessible, specifically in mobiles, since they are visible on the entire screen.

To be more specific, interstitials that are not blocking the content are still fine, but Google does not favour interstitials that block the primary content.

The below image clearly states that in the 1st image, the pop-up is at the top of the screen, making the page content visible, whereas, in the 2nd image, the pop-up covers the entire screen, which creates a negative website impression and provides a bad user experience, which Google disapproves of.

Avoid these intrusions for a better Google page experience update.
