Google helps Doctors on africa with the Ebola-proof Tablet By @VicenteA_George #Google #Tablet

Even with today’s technology most of the medical procedure is made by humans, but there’s some cases when that could be dangerous for the patient and doctor. Cases like the Ebola crisis need special measures, that’s why Google has created the “Ebola-proof Tablet”

Prince of Wales MSF Ebola Medical Centre in FreetownDoctors Without Borders made a request to google to make them a better tool for work, and so Google answered with this slate housed in a special casing to make sure it could withstand the terrible weather in West Africa.

The Tablet is based on a Water and dust proof Sony Tablet plus it can be submerged in chlorine to kill off any remnants of the Ebola virus, and also have wireless charging built in and rounded edges to avoid rip the doctors suits.

When the alrt start the doctors weren’t allowed to have paper and pens with them for the special suits, and they have to yell the diagnosis and what they see to other person outside the tent, something that always ended up with errors.

Mr Ivan Gayton, MSF’s technology adviser said:

“The information stored on the devices will help map symptom patterns and the open-source technology could be deployed for other disease outbreaks.”

This is a huge improvement on medical tech, we’re getting close to find sources of virus without exposing more life.

Stay tuned for more Tech advances.

TAG Heuer Joins the Smartwatch club By @VicenteA_George #smartwatch #tagheuer

According to Reuters, TAG Heuer smartwatch should be announced today (March 19). The device will be a digital version of the “TAG Heuer Carrera”, one of the company’s best selling timepieces.

UPDATED

Guy Sémon, General Manager of TAG Heuer added: “The quality of Swiss watches is renowned worldwide. When this is allied with the creative technology and global power of two companies like Intel and Google, using the Android Wear platform and based on Intel technology, we can see the launch of a technological revolution in our industry, of which I am proud to be a pioneer today with TAG Heuer.”

David Singleton noted, “By fusing beauty with technology, the Swiss watch has inspired generations of artists and engineers alike—including us at Google. So we’re thrilled to be working with TAG Heuer and Intel to bring a unique blend of emotion and innovation to the luxury market. Together, and using the Android Wear platform, we can imagine a better, beautiful, smarter watch.”

The Swiss watchmaker has partnered with Intel to work on the new smartwatch (although it’s unclear if it would run Android Wear, but that’s the most likely OS choice) to compete with the Apple Watch.

TAG Heuer Chief Executive Office Jean-Claude Biver told Reuters:

“People will have the impression that they are wearing a normal watch,”

There is no word about price or when the TAG Heuer smartwatch will be released. But they should hurry up, the Apple Watch is target to April 24 and the pre-orders start at April 10.

With this watch, the crew of the Oracle team had real time access to the boat’s speed, foil balance, sail pressure, and wind characteristics. If you love Samsung and live upon the extreme, you don’t need to worry about your phone any more with the Xcover 3 By @VicenteA_George #samsung #android

Samsung is well known for having multiples models of the same phone, but in this particular case, it has been almost two years since the Xcover 2 came out. And this week Sammy has decided bring the name back with the upgraded Galaxy Xcover 3.

Samsung’s latest ultra-rugged device is aimed to a very niche segment of the audience, for the extreme adventures out there.

Unlike the Galaxy S5 wich is IP certified but nor really “drops-proof” the new Xcover has a better protection in all ways. It’s IP67-rated, signifying its dust tight and its capable to withstand ingress of water for up to 30 minutes at up to 1 meter deep. Is also MIL-STD 810G-certified, meaning that it should be capable of withstanding very high or very low temperatures, and survive drops with ease.

Let’s take a look at the device:

O.S: Android 4.4 upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Display: 4.5-inch WVGA 800×480
Battery: 2200mAh
Processor: 1.2GHz, Quad-core Snapdragon
Main camera :5 MP main with underwater shooting mode.
F.F Camera: 2 MP
Internal Memory: 8GB, micro SD
RAM: 1.5 GB

As you can see this is apretty interesting Mid-range device, the smartphone is planed to be offically unveiled at CeBIT and will be release in April for a price of around 275 euros.

What do you think of the new extreme mid-range on town?

#Android and #iOS versions of #MixRadio released to Private Beta Testers by @Tiwaash #Music

Earlier today the very popular personalized music streaming service on WindowsPhone, MixRadio released its BETA Android and iOS versions of the App. Whilst this is not a launch it does point in a new direction for the MixRadio team. We may have expected this as Microsoft sold this awesome service to LINE Corporation sometime back.

MixRadio is a radio focused service that serves up music suggestions based on your chosen parameters. Favorite artists, genres, or even just using some of the curated mixes, MixRadio usually comes up with tunes you want to hear, or just hit Play Me and it plays music which you can thumbs up or down to make it a personal radio station.

MixRadio evolved from Nokia Music which was exclusive to Nokia devices. Nokia later on passed on MixRadio to Microsoft as part of the acquisition and then Microsoft sold it to Line Corporation. Keeping in mind the popularity and the amazing music streaming service, MixRadio is now game to take on the Android & iOS platforms. We are yet to see how the apps look but one thing is very clear with this initiative that MixRadio is on a huge expansion spree. We wish them all the very best and extend all our support both as bloggers and personal.

#MakeTechHuman an initiative by WIRED & Nokia by @Tiwaash #Tech

WIRED and Nokia announced maketechhuman, a new initiative created to start a conversation about technology, its role in society, and whether it truly serves humanity. The goal of the initiative is to identify opportunities and challenges created by technology, and then shape the future in a positive direction through conversation, awareness, and content.

“Although technology has ushered in an extremely exciting era of unprecedented productivity, convenience, collaboration, and creativity, it’s also shaken up our security, our privacy, and our jobs in many ways. As the role of technology continues to expand our lives, we feel it’s time to start a conversation to ensure that technology serves humanity and not the other way around,” says Barry French, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Nokia. “Nokia turns 150 years old in May of this year. Our aim is to expand the human possibilities of the connected world and, true to that vision, we look forward to the future with a desire to talk about both the challenges and the extraordinary potential of our technological path ahead.”

“We are very excited to launch this important and timely conversation with Nokia,” said Kim Kelleher, publisher and chief revenue officer. “WIRED has always been optimistic about the future of technology.”

WIRED and Nokia launched a content hub-a first-of-its-kind narrative on WIRED.com. Throughout the duration of the initiative, the hub will serve as place for users to share their enthusiasm and concerns about technology. Based on user feedback, topics will be determined and content will be created. Videos, short web posts, and long form articles will be published regularly by WIRED’s Brand Lab, comprised of industry luminaries, experts, and notable writers.

Later in the fall, WIRED and Nokia will hold the first-ever maketechhuman Summit-an event that will highlight the innovative solutions for the important issues uncovered throughout the initiative. The program will wrap with a documentary recapping the key learnings.

People can begin submitting topics for consideration today here or via social media with the hashtag #maketechhuman.

IKEA will sell furniture with wireless chargers in US and UK By @VicenteA_George #ikea #wireless #charging

The well known “do-for-yourself” furniture maker IKEA have a big surprise for us in a couple of months.

The company will offer Lamps, Tables and Nightstands with wireless charging built in (under the Qi standard).

And if you have an Iphone or a Samsung and think “It doesn’t work for me” the company will also offer a range of case and covers for those handsets without wireless chargers backplates.

The collection will start to be sell on mid April in the U.K with prices starting at £30, they will be sell on the U.S later this year but we don’t have the exact date yet.

“Our belief is that mobile phones are vital parts to people’s lives at home and their desire to stay connected, and Qi addresses an unmet need to keep devices powered,” said Bjorn Block, Range Manager for Lighting and Wireless Charging, at IKEA. “As a member of WPC, we value the access to the leading and most advanced global standard for wireless charging.”

That’s good news for those who plan buy new stuff for home and even for the ones that only want a useful bed lamp that will also act as a charger.
