Nydeum Sense is a new product thats just hit Kickstarter which is a One-Handed Keyboard & Air Mouse and we have been talking to Daniel Brownwood about the product and how it came to be today..
Problem #1: We feel that traditional peripherals like the mouse and keyboard are not up to par with current technology. Today we expect comfort and convenience and these words just don’t apply to keyboards and mice. They require you to stay seated in one place and are big, bulky and occupy too many of our senses in order to function, two hands and our eyes. PC users may have made peace with this, but smart TVs for example still don’t have any real input solutions. Keyboards are out-of-place in the living room and remote controls are a real hassle to write with.

Solution #1: Our first product, Nydeum Sense, offers a solution to this problem by combining an air mouse and a new type of keyboard. It’s wireless and one-handed and is perfect for living room use. It offers the usual functions of any mouse or keyboard, and on top of that it’s customizable: any gesture or movement on the device or in the air can be programmed to do whatever you want it to – e.g. make a circle with the device and open Netflix.
Problem #2: Touch screens are the primary surface we interact with now, so the obvious thing to do was include the QWERTY keyboard as part of the screen. The issue with this is that it takes up half the screen and has a huge error rate because of the small buttons. This is bad enough in smartphones, but will simply not work in smartwatches.

Solution #2: As a solution, we created a new digital alphabet, which is really just a simplified version of the Latin alphabet that can be written with quick movements in one place –  on the Nydeum Sense device you can write by guiding your finger along the fixed track. In a smartphone or smartwatch, this would be done on a much smaller surface we have already developed with micromechanics.

Nydeum Sense can be used to write at about 3 characters/second – average typing speed on a traditional keyboard is 3.8 characters / second with a 4-6% error rate. We are not trying to replace traditional keyboards and do not claim Sense is faster, but we do believe it is a much more comfortable alternative, especially useful with smart TVs. It could also easily be used along with VR technology as a controller/input system.

Cyril Plassard and Stéphane Escandell are two independent French developers who have published an application for tracking Euro 2016 on Windows and Android.
It provides all the essential information of the competition, receiving the evolution of real-time scores and track social feeds of teams through exclusive social walls.
Initially created to overcome the lack of official app to the Windows Store,they decided to make it available on the Play Store to offer an alternative to commercial apps and full of advertising. Their target are fans, only.
Technically it is developed using Xamarin framework and based on a MS Azure back-end .
As of now they have no business model as they do this for fun outside of their professional lives.
However, they propose a original method of remuneration, based on the gift. Users can offer us a virtual glass via an in app purchases on Android, The Windows Phone app also is unofficial, non-commercial, independent, 100% free and without any advertising.

Samsung Galaxy A9 is receiving the Marshmallow update. #GalaxyA9 #Samsung

During the weekend we received some awesome news from the people of Samsung, as now they’re rolling out the Android 6.0 update to their Galaxy A series phone.

More precisely, the A9

The Samsung Galaxy A9 is a China only device (at least the official way) so, the reason why this comes in handy for people like us in the other side of the world, is simply because this is the first A series model to be updated to Marshmallow.

Which means that the A5 and A7 are probably next in line to get the update.

This update in made to give the A9 all the features a Samsung flagship has, but Always on Display, (this can be achieved by an app on the Play Store).

The 6.0 update brings everything to the table, from DOZE to Now on Tap and promises a bump in performance with the devices as seen in other models.

The contact tab provides the contact name of the person who posted the listing as well as buttons to allow you to easily directly call that contact, pre-populating your dialer with their number, email them via a simple form or send them an SMS which we also pre-populate for you – all you have to do is add your own personal message.

The sharing tab features a single button which launches the standard Android sharing dialogue from which you can choose an app (email, Facebook, Twitter or Google+ etc) to share a listing with family, friends or colleagues.

Finally, the app features facilities to send us feedback via another simple form and to share the app with others – obviously, the more phones we are on, the more chance we have of getting pets reunited.

Eircode has got a bad reception,Just like Irish Water it was thrown out there and caused  problems and today with Eircode people still reject the idea. Moving on from the obvious Eircode will be always an issue for some and for how I feel about it, well I see it from both sides,but leaning towards on the spend amount as a huge negative particularity with the public and I tend to agree on that sentiment. Being in the logistics business it is handy and times as is the standalone mapping apps such as HERE or Google and from testing mapping apps for many years it should be welcomed in the longterm given the amount spent which was by no means little…As I have mentioned the topic is of interest to me but only from the technical standpoint and to see how well this actually performs..

For someone who has  used maps over the years I still prefer to have a choice at hand such as HERE or Google,generally I use nothing else bar when testing,often the case those in testing are removed due to the lack of info and so on..Now with the likes of this app available there is choice for the consumer and choice is good,how the app performs after that is up to the people behind it..In my travel folder I have several apps that I use which are pictured below..

 

 

This app is good,there is several alternatives out there such as Loc8/Point8 and you can use the standalone eircode homepage on your phone or tab and pin it to the homescreen,But we want apps these days and bookmarks dont cut it for the majority..
