You’re prepared for all sorts of things in your office, from the mundane (do we have enough supplies) to the worrisome (how well is data backed up). But what about disasters of the natural kind—such as hurricanes? If you live in a hurricane-prone area, it’s essential that you think about what you can do to make your office hurricane-ready.
First, understand that not all hurricanes are the same. The wind speed and the storm surge potential determine the category of the hurricane, which can range from 1 to 5. An a Watch differs from a Warning—the former indicates potential, the latter indicates likelihood.
Next, before a hurricane is even a possibility, you must create a series of helpful steps that employees and you can take. Those include an evacuation plan as well as designated responsible employees and a contact system. Your hurricane plan should be written and communicated, and indicate tasks for each person as well as how data will be protected. You should always have a hurricane disaster kit on hand with essential you may need, as well as supplies that can help protect your physical space.
Both before and after a hurricane hits, there are additional steps to follow to ensure that both people and property stay as safe and unharmed as possible—follow the direction of federal and local authorities, for example, and documenting damage. Especially if a hurricane hits while people are at work, you must try to do whatever you can to help ensure their protection. All the steps you take beforehand are a good start, but following proper hurricane-related protocol is a must, too.
This graphic offers helpful, easy-to-understand steps to take to get ready for a hurricane and deal with its aftermath.

During the weekend we received some awesome news from the people of Samsung, as now they’re rolling out the Android 6.0 update to their Galaxy A series phone.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is a China only device (at least the official way) so, the reason why this comes in handy for people like us in the other side of the world, is simply because this is the first A series model to be updated to Marshmallow.
Which means that the A5 and A7 are probably next in line to get the update.
This update in made to give the A9 all the features a Samsung flagship has, but Always on Display, (this can be achieved by an app on the Play Store).
The 6.0 update brings everything to the table, from DOZE to Now on Tap and promises a bump in performance with the devices as seen in other models.
Owning a pet is for life, this is one thing we often hear especially coming up to Christmas we hear this message for the obvious reason but it is not only this time of year when people get new pets, nor is it restricted to any age either. Having got your new pet you should cherish it and and adore it which most of us do but there is always the risk of a pet such as a cat or a dog escaping which is bound to happen and it can lead the owners in some distress too. Happened to me once years ago when I was a kid and my pet rabbit escaped and that was the last I seen of it..
Back then there was no apps,no social media and just the humble phone but not so many ways to contact people like you can today particularly with social media,it is one way to spread news fast and the general public can also help too which is great.
Lost & Found Pets Ireland app is here to help should that unfortunate moment arrive where you can search listings in your area using geolocation services on your mobile phone..
App description
On the pet details tab, you can view all the details for that particlar pet as well as a photo if one is available. You can expand this photo to fullscreen by clicking on the little expander button at the top right of the photo.
The contact tab provides the contact name of the person who posted the listing as well as buttons to allow you to easily directly call that contact, pre-populating your dialer with their number, email them via a simple form or send them an SMS which we also pre-populate for you – all you have to do is add your own personal message.
The sharing tab features a single button which launches the standard Android sharing dialogue from which you can choose an app (email, Facebook, Twitter or Google+ etc) to share a listing with family, friends or colleagues.
Finally, the app features facilities to send us feedback via another simple form and to share the app with others – obviously, the more phones we are on, the more chance we have of getting pets reunited.

Eircode has got a bad reception,Just like Irish Water it was thrown out there and caused problems and today with Eircode people still reject the idea. Moving on from the obvious Eircode will be always an issue for some and for how I feel about it, well I see it from both sides, but leaning towards on the spend amount as a huge negative particularity with the public and I tend to agree on that sentiment. Being in the logistics business it is handy and times as is the standalone mapping apps such as HERE or Google and from testing mapping apps for many years it should be welcomed in the longterm given the amount spent which was by no means little…As I have mentioned the topic is of interest to me but only from the technical standpoint and to see how well this actually performs..
For someone who has used maps over the years I still prefer to have a choice at hand such as HERE or Google, generally I use nothing else bar when testing, often the case those in testing are removed due to the lack of info and so on..Now with the likes of this app available there is choice for the consumer and choice is good, how the app performs after that is up to the people behind it..In my travel folder I have several apps that I use which are pictured below..
This app is good, there is several alternatives out there such as Loc8/Point8 and you can use the standalone eircode homepage on your phone or tab and pin it to the homescreen,But we want apps these days and bookmarks dont cut it for the majority..
What is Autoaddress?
Autoaddress App is the easiest way to find Eircodes and share precise address location with anyone in Ireland. Completely free to use, this app is the solution for delivery drivers, sales people, service engineers and the general public to accurately locate properties and get directions using Eircode.
Delivery Driver Features
Get accurate directions to difficult to find addresses with Eircode. Save your deliveries in the Autoaddress App, store contact phone numbers and other useful information. The app optimises your route by arranging your deliveries in the most efficient order. You can record your successful delivery (or if you were unable to deliver) saving the time of day and distance from the delivery location for verification. Get a Delivery Zone BETA code for each address that allows you to manually sort items and load your van.
Sat navs that sent you to the wrong entrance
Your Eircode points at your building, but sometimes navigation apps can choose the wrong street/entrance to navigate to, causing delays and unnecessary phone calls for directions. If this issue affects your address simply report it and we’ll ensure everyone entering your Eircode in our app is directed to the correct access location, no matter what Navigation app they use.
You can read more about Autoaddress here and download the apps below in their respective stores should you want to try it..
There is an array of internet speed tests available today but now Netflix is launching fast.com, a simple-to-use website to help you see how fast your Internet connection is, whether on mobile or broadband, anywhere in the world. And like the Netflix service, it’s ad free with a streamlined design that is quick and easy to understand.
David Fullagar says..
We all want a faster, better Internet, yet Internet speeds vary greatly and can be affected by other users on your network or congestion with your Internet service provider. When you’re experiencing streaming issues, fast.com allows you to check the download speeds you’re getting from your Internet service provider. Using Netflix servers, fast.com works like other globally available tools including speedtest.net, and the results should be similar in most cases.
This consumer speed test is different than our Netflix ISP Speed Index. Fast.com measures your personal Internet connection at any given time. The speed index measures average monthly speeds of actual Netflix streams during prime time hours.
Like the cellular data controls we recently introduced, fast.com is another tool consumers can use for greater insight and control of their Internet service. Fast.com works in any country, and it is free for everyone — whether a Netflix member or not. Give it a try at fast.com.

Technology is certainly making life easier gradually over the last few years and from now on its only going to get worse and with the Internet Of Things being one of the next big things we see ourselves doing less each day thus making us lazy,be it a good thing or bad thing its happening and its just my take on it anyway,However this idea is quite cool as you can try before you buy if you will and get to see what clothes look like on you before you buy them and then discover they do not suit you at all..
How about trying clothes on from your mobile phone??? Pictofit is here to do just that with an app on Android and iOS..
Using imaged based tech you just upload your own photo then you can begin by finding clothes online or taking pictures of clothing and virtually see how they look on you.You can browse the default selection or pick from the list available in the app.To get more options though you will need to login with your Facebook account..Not only that you can then share your new look and get advice from your friends on social media..
