Launch old whiteboards into the digital future with Rocketbook Beacons. #Tech #Rocketbook #Beacons

Rocketbook, maker of the popular endlessly reusable Everlast and Fusion notebooks, announces the availability of their latest product that’s launching whiteboards into the digital future: Rocketbook Beacons. The four restickable, reusable Beacons convert a dry erase surface into a smartboard by pairing with the free Rocketbook app. Beacons allow users to capture, organise and broadcast important notes and diagrams on any whiteboard or wall surface in real time, and share them to their favourite cloud services. Rocketbook Beacons are available now at www.getrocketbook.co.uk for £15.99.

“Remote teams are increasingly common, yet with all the communication options available, not being in the same room when there’s a brainstorm, lesson, or active presentation can make collaboration difficult,” said Jake Epstien, Co-Founder of Rocketbook. “We created Beacons with this in mind and, like Everlast, set out to bring something really commonplace into the digital future. The live Snapcast feature is especially unique and exciting, and since some of our best ideas come from our users, we’re looking forward to seeing how they put Beacons into action.”

With Beacons, capture and share perfect whiteboard images with a team of people in an instant. To get started, place the four Beacon quadra-triangles in each corner of a whiteboard, or preferred writing area such as a chalkboard or projector screen. Write as normal, and then use the Rocketbook app to capture content. The Rocketbook app recognises the Beacons and connects to the whiteboard – even from steep angles – and then automatically crops content to make it even more crisp and vibrant than on the board itself. Rocketbook Beacons are made with micro-suction technology, specially designed to stick to whiteboard surfaces that won’t deteriorate over time like other sticky adhesives.

Users can assign up to seven shortcut symbols within the Rocketbook app to easily blast notes to several cloud destinations including Dropbox, Evernote, Google Drive, Box, iCloud, Slack, email and more. Simply snap the whiteboard, choose the destination, and share content instantly. To save even more time, write a file name between hashtags (e.g. ## Brainstorm Session ##) on the whiteboard, and the Rocketbook app will automatically save the image as that file name for easy searching.

Snapcast mode in the Rocketbook app takes the digital whiteboard even further, enabling collaboration in real-time. To start, open Snapcast mode, and share the unique URL provided in the Rocketbook app. A private, real-time page is then updated each time users scan the whiteboard. Users can also prop up a phone to face the whiteboard, and set the app to auto-scan every five seconds for easy, ongoing sharing of live, easy-to-read content.

Two text scams citing @CentraIRL and @Google to watch out for. #Centra #Scams #Google

A bit late to post this evening but important to watch out for and pass it on. These two SMS scams came in over the last two days on one of my phones and are important to note and coming up to the festive season we will probably see more of them, all the info you need to look out for is below.

The first one is a text labelled CENTRA but no other information is available on it but it will read they have tried to reach you to claim a prize and the prize is a Samsung Galaxy S10 of course this not true and Centra is not running such a competition. See below for the details.

The second scam just has SMS on the title and it is the usual photo message, this leads you onto Google to win an iPhone of all things which made me laugh out loud Google giving away an iPhone of all things. Check the image below for a good laugh. Centra advise to report to comreg. Good luck with that.

Below we go onto the Google SMS. Centra have been pro-active about the scam but nothing from Google yet..

Enjoy the weekend folks.. Pass it on. We are now working on our Christmas Review season and watch out for cool tech products over the next few weeks to cater for all pockets.. We just don’t talk about tech, we review it both in video and images and we have drones, earphones, headphones, security cameras, projectors, escooters, accessories, dashcams and lots more including kickstarter tech.

New Health Tech – Astronauts trigger new tool to fight osteoporosis. #Osteoporosis #HealthTech #Astronauts

Osteoporosis is a big problem in the UK and Ireland and further afield and this new piece of technology could change that which has been 35 years in the making.

Technology commissioned by NASA to help astronauts deal with bone loss while weightless in space is now set to help hundreds of thousands of people living on planet earth with the ‘silent disease’ of osteoporosis.  Why ‘silent’? Because although over 3 million in the UK have osteoporosis, they can’t feel it or know they have it until they break a bone.

Osteoporosis is a big problem in the UK:

  • Over 500,000 people receive hospital treatment for fragility fractures each year as a result of osteoporosis
  • It affects around 3 million people aged 50+
  • It carries an economic burden with new and prior fractures costing the NHS £3,496 million each year
  • At this rate, by 2025 the burden will have increased by 24 % to £ 5,465 million
  • Of those affected:
    • 86% are more likely to experience a fracture in the future
    • 60% require assistance one year after a hip fracture
    • 40% are unable to walk independently after a hip fracture
    • In the year after experiencing a hip fracture, risk for death increases by 33% in men and 20% in women, with this risk continuing to persist for 10 years
    • A broken hip has a higher risk of death (1 in 6) than breast cancer (1 in 9)

35 years in the making

The history of the Marodyne LiV device started 35 years ago when Professor Clinton Rubin from the Stony Brook State University of New York was commissioned by NASA to understand how mechanical signals can influence the musculoskeletal system.  Astronauts’ bones don’t experience loads while they are weightless in space and this leads to the loss of bone mineral density, just as in osteoporosis. On average, an astronaut loses as much bone in space in one month as a perimenopausal woman does on earth in one year.

Professor Rubin and his research teams broke the code and found that low intensity vibrations that deliver a precise and targeted low-magnitude mechanical signal at a frequency of exactly 30 Hz per second will stimulate and regulate critical stem-cell processes to trigger the body to regenerate bone tissue. It took many years to perfect the technology and make it accessible to all in the form of the Marodyne LiV device.

How it works

Marodyne LiV is a low vibrating platform that looks like a set of bathroom scales.  You simply stand on it for 10 minutes a day and allow the low intensity vibrations to stimulate your body’s cells to reform bone and muscle tissue. When you step onto the Marodyne platform, its ‘smart’ technology automatically adjusts to your weight, mass and movement to produce low acceleration, high frequency vibrations that send signals to re-activate the bone building cells in the body.

Recognised by the Royal Osteoporosis Society

“The Royal Osteoporosis Society is encouraged to see the results so far from the Marodyne LiV research and its potential as a safe and effective tool for the prevention of osteoporosis,” says Henry Mace, Head of Clinical Partnerships, Royal Osteoporosis Society. “We look forward to working with Marodyne LiV and will be watching with great interest to see the difference it makes to people living with the condition.”

Certified and safe

Marodyne LiV can be safely used alongside all prescription drugs currently available to treat osteoporosis and is set to change the way consumers and medics deal with the bone-thinning disease. Certified as a safe and effective tool to help people with osteopenia and osteoporosis it is supported by a number of clinical studies that show LiV can assist in the prevention of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women and promote bone and muscle growth in younger osteoporotic women.

Capture stunning 4K images above or below the water and fish smarter with the PowerDolphin #Tech #Fishing

PowerVision, a global technology company that leads the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) industry with smart drones, today announces that its newest innovative marine product, the PowerDolphin, is now available from Harrods in the UK.

With a sleek, streamlined design, the PowerDolphin is an intelligent, multifunctional water drone. Offering the ability to capture impressive 4K high-definition images, intelligent fish finding functionality and search and rescue support, the PowerDolphin has been designed for water sports enthusiasts, underwater and wildlife photographers and fishermen as well as for emergency profession support. The PowerDolphin is available now from Harrods as well as www.powervision.me and Amazon UK with prices starting from £695.

Stunning photography

The PowerDolphin is equipped with a unique dual-joint rotation 4K camera covering a staggering 215°. Shoot above the water level up to 80° and tilt down to shoot below water at -135°. Whether it is water sports (sailing, surfing, diving, canoeing, kayaking etc.) or the mysterious magnificent sea scenery users want to capture, they can see it all in glorious 4K. The 4K high-definition images and footage captured by the PowerDolphin can be sent in real-time wirelessly to a mobile phone through the Vision+ companion app, from a distance of 1000m.

Accompanying the dual-joint rotation camera, the front lights have four adjustable brightness levels, which rotate in balance with the camera, to shoot well-illuminated, stunning photos in different types of water.

Intelligent fishing

In addition to its powerful imaging capability, the PowerDolphin can help fisherman find the best fishing spots. With the assistance of the included PowerSeeker, an intelligent fish finder, the PowerDolphin can detect fish within a range of 131ft (40m).

The remote-controlled PowerDolphin can directly tow hooks and lure fish by dropping bait to a desired location at up to 1,000m. Whether standing on the shore or on a boat, the PowerDolphin can greatly extend the fishing rod’s reach and allows users to watch and record the entire prey bite process through the 4K camera.

Combining the PowerDolphin and PowerSeeker helps anglers to accurately determine the best fishing spot and timing. Once the prey successfully bites, PowerDolphin will drag it back to the controller’s side, providing a completely new fishing experience.

Search and rescue support

With three different speed gears, the PowerDolphin can swim up to 5m per second, delivering attached lifebuoys, lifejackets, towlines and other rescue equipment timely and accurately.

Acting as the First Responder to arrive at the incident scene, PowerDolphin can carry and release remotely the necessary equipment faster than lifeboats by eliminating manual preparation and hull activation; and swimming faster than lifeguards at 5m/sec largely beats the Olympic Men’s 100m freestyle record of 2.17m/sec.

State-of-the-art hardware for scientific research

PowerDolphin has up to two hours of battery life, and is equipped with an intelligent sonar device + GPS waypoint cruise function. It can also automatically scan designated waters and draw underwater topographic maps by mounting a smart fish finder with path planning function on the Vision+ App and providing scientists with highly accurate data in a visual form, adding great value to their marine research.

Additional PowerDolphin features are a water touch switch, mobile phone control, return home function, and support for battery and SD card replacement. In addition, both waterproof glass design and automatic anti-roll technology amongst many other attributes, greatly enhances the drone’s ease of use and stability.

Wally Zheng, founder and CEO of PowerVision Technology Group said: “The PowerDolphin is a
new lifestyle drone that is not only suitable for photographers, fishermen and other water sports enthusiasts but also for rescue and scientific researchers, providing adventurers with a new perspective of life.”

Recommended retail pricing & availability

The PowerDolphin is available now from Harrods, Amazon UK and www.powervision.me. There are three packages to choose from with prices starting at £695.

Mastermind behind “fourth industrial revolution” to make first visit to Ireland. #Innopharma #BioPharma #MedTech

The fourth industrial revolution, ‘Industry 4.0’, will fundamentally alter the way we live and work, creating unparalleled opportunities for business growth. That’s according to Henrik von Scheel, the originator of the Industry 4.0 concept, who will make his first visit to Ireland next month to deliver the keynote speech at an event hosted by Innopharma.

The event – which is aimed at those working in pharma, biopharma or medtech – will take place at The Davenport Hotel, 8-10 Merrion Street Lower, Dublin 2 on Wednesday 4th December 2019, at 2.30pm.

Innopharma, Ireland’s leading education, research and technology institute for the pharmaceutical, medtech and food industries, will present the event, Pharma 4.0: What does Ireland’s high-tech manufacturing future look like?, in partnership with BioPharmaChem, a business association within Ibec which represents the biopharma and chemical sectors.

Attendees will have a unique opportunity to hear Mr. von Scheel and other industry leaders discuss Pharma 4.0 and gain exclusive and actionable insights from the originator of the fourth Industrial Revolution himself on what it is, what it means for biopharma and how to apply it.
