Twitter now allows you share tweets via DM quicker. #Twitter #Social

Twitter is now allowing you to share DMs quicker than ever by adding a new feature today which is rolling out on Android and iOS. You should be able to see a new message icon on the tweet which is on the very right and if you click on the tweet it’s between the heart and share icon.Lots of people do spend much time on Twitter and have conversation in DM mode so this will be a welcome addition for some. All you need to do is tap the new message icon and it will bring you to a list of recently used people and then select the person and press send, otherwise you can just search for the person you intend to send the tweet too.

Twitter say

Every day, millions of people send Direct Messages to communicate privately with friends, family, experts, brands, and anyone else they find interesting on Twitter. In fact, we’ve seen the number of messages sent grow over 60% in 2015. And the number of Tweets shared privately has grown even faster, at 200% in just the second half of last year.

Meteor Mobile is introducing a credit limit this month. #Meteor #Bills #Credit

Meteor customers may have got a text recently in regards to a new credit limit that is being introduced this month. This will basically be a service to inform people when their bill is heading for €200 and you will be notified, this is also to alleviate the dreaded bill shock which some people still seem to suffer with. This often happens when people travel or use Wi-Fi at home, stream with data and forget to turn off their data whilst connected to their Wi-Fi, Users on 4G would notice their data is been used up quicker and need to monitor their usage.

Meteor explains how it works..

We’ll send you a text when you have reached 75% of €200* and again at 95% of this amount so you can make a payment by credit card. If you don’t make a payment, we will temporarily suspend your service (in most cases when you reach €200*) so that you can’t incur any more additional charges. However, you will still be able to receive calls and texts and make emergency calls if you need to. If you find that you are regularly going over this amount please contact a member of our team so we can ensure you are on the best plan for you.

You can also monitor your usage with the My Meteor app which can be downloaded below for Android and iOS..

Meteor also explain..

*Please note that the €200 notification amount is subject to change. You may also incur charges for out of tariff usage that may not be captured at the time of SMS notification. If you have any other queries please do not hesitate to Contact Us.

Animated GIFs on twitter reaches Ireland. #Twitter #Social #GIFs

Twitter began rolling out this new feature last week and it seems that it is now available to us Irish,Twitter does have a funny way of rolling out things though as some get things before others this would depend on your account status and verified accounts..With updates in the past I have often received new features before many and vice versa but this is just twitter and how it works.

The update for us just arrived tonight so perhaps you should check your updates and see if one is present for you..Animated GIFs are an annoyance for some but most of us love them and they add that little bit more to a tweet than a standard image or tweet.

Twitter last week said

GIPHY delivers real-time GIFs as they happen, helping to power Twitter’s live commentary and conversation,” says Alex Chung, founder and CEO of GIPHY. “GIPHY’s users are creating GIFs for news, entertainment, sports, and expression that can enrich Tweets. We’re excited to work with Twitter to make sharing these GIFs even easier.”

“So much can be expressed with GIFs, and the key is to find just the right one in the moment that quickly and efficiently expresses your emotions,” says David McIntosh, CEO and co-founder of Riffsy. “We’re excited to explore this partnership with Twitter and watch Twitter users discover and share their favorite GIFs in their daily lives.”

You will see the GIF option between the camera icon and poll icon and once you tap that a page with GIFs will open and you can also search for whichever suits your mood..

Newly anounced “5D Glass Disc” Can Store up to 360TB

How to keep our files and documents safe, is something that has bothered us since the beginning, but apparently, a team from the Optical Research Center from the University of Southampton have developed a way to record data in “5 dimensions” and make it last billions of years.

They use a method that uses ultrafast laser impulse to create nanoscale dots aligned into three layers that are five-millionths of a meters apart.

So using a single 1″ inch disc which is more durable than traditional storage options as well they can also fit 360TB into the disc.

According to the team each disc should be able to preserved the data up to 13.8 billion years (which also means we’re not going to be here to see it is indeed capable of that)

Th guys have already encoded various texts of mankind history like the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, King James Bible, Magna Carta and Isaac Newton’s Optick as copies.

Also named “Superman Memory Crystal ” when they showed for the first time in 2013 as it resembles a the one found on Superman movies of old, they should be ready for commercial use in a couple a years and you will have something like a DVD reader to look what you have there.

Professor Peter Kazansky, from the Optoelectronics Research Centre, said:

“It is thrilling to think that we have created the technology to preserve documents and information and store it in space for future generations. This technology can secure the last evidence of our civilization: all we’ve learnt will not be forgotten.”

What do you think about this? Will this be the solution mankind has been asking for since forever to preserved they knowledge to future generations?

Tell of what you think about the “Superman memory crystal” in the comments section or tweet using #techbuzzireland
