Tech Review – Creative Outlier Air V3

Creative have been serving up some great tech this year and we have checked out a good amount of it and for anyone into audio it is a brand you should check out for your needs as these come in at really affordable prices and their latest set of earbuds are no different either which is the Creative Outlier Air V3, it must be noted I missed the previous models here so my review is based on these and these alone and not comparing to older models as it would be unfair to as they have not been in my hands so let’s see what we have on offer. You can see the unboxing HERE

Build and design

These come in a really cool case that slides open giving them the best protection you could ask for housed in an aluminium case yet they are still held in with magnets so they won’t get lost if they are just dumped in your bag or tossed on a couch, they are a drum shaped earbud which is similar to older models when it comes to their shape and they fit nicely in the ears once the right tips are used as with most earbuds, if you are into the stem type earbuds look away now as these are not for you, they have a nice circular top which acts as the touch area for controls and works really well and also there is a light that goes round this which is cool giving out status for connection etc.

Creative OutlierAir V3 techbuzzireland

Set-up

Set-up is simple and you of course have access to the SuperX-Fi app which is a game changing app for sound that puts you in the centre of things and  you can map your head to avail of Creative’s holographic technology, this is done by taking a photo of the left and right ear and face and a tip here is to get someone to do your ears. Once set up you can use this app to enhance the experience.

Sound

Sound is what most people look at reviews for and once again they deliver and the price you pay makes it an easy purchase if you are on a budget and this is thanks to the app that also has an equaliser built in that changes the experience from my usual testing they deliver did not sound tinny did not distort on max volume and overall a great listening experience the app has access to your music files on your device so you do not need to use a different music player to open the music files you have at hand however if you listen to other streaming apps you can’t use the app which will hopefully be addressed sometime in the future,as for me it is not a problem really as I have all my music files stored on my devices. These are powered by 6 mm Bio-cellulose drivers by the way.

Battery

Battery life is slated at 40 hours here but this can vary depending on the settings like volume and ambient mode etc and overall I hit less than slated but not by much however the same can be said for any manufacturer here and I tend to go max volume and full ANC and for me it was around 37 hours in total which is fine, like that’s nearly a week lads..

Conclusion

Overall here you get a great set of earbuds with wireless charging thrown in and great sound these are ones to look out for and for 50 quid you just cant complain really yes I said 50 quid at the time of posting this.

Tech Review – Soundcore Life P2 mini

The Soundcore Life P2 mini are a budget friendly pair of earbuds which are now part of their portfolio which is certainly becoming a tasty option for consumers which is good, there is choice here from high end to entry level earbuds which suit all pockets, these are by no means a rival to airpods either due to their cost which is around 40 euro at the time of my review however the sound factor is what most from their earbuds even when it comes to cost but the term you get what you pay for would come to mind for some but with soundcore you are playing a safe bet regardless.

These are not sporting all the bells and whistles but have most of the functions you would expect to get at this price point and in an over saturated market it is hard for newcomers to make an impression for 40 quid but Soundcore pull it off here more or less when it comes to an all round listening experience.

They have a glossy finish and look plain which for some is fine and for me it does not bother me at all but being lucky to have tested the biggest range of earbuds in Ireland I need to look at things from outside the pane and what others expect and from owning their top tier Liberty Pro 3 they do seem cheap looking to me being fair but, yes there is a but, this is fine it is a common form factor at this price. Battery life is well decent here too with around 40 hours in total and you have USB-C charging.

Sound Life P2 mini

The sound though is where is counts and overall they deliver, all you need to get a normal functioning pair of earbuds here with all the usuals thrown in you even have virtual assistant access. You have some EQ access too via the touch controls which we take a look at in the video.

There is a nice level of bass here which is ideal for bass lovers but not really heavy, highs lows and mids are fine and overall a good audio experince there was no distortion noted when maxed out on volume nor tinny either which at this price would be a common feature on some brands but mostly of cheap chinese rip offs and some current known manufacturers. No lag latency was noted either during my usual test routine. Calls where also fine both ends for the few I took whilst testing.

Features

  • Stunning Sound: Life P2 Mini true wireless earbuds have oversized triple-layer 10mm drivers to fuel powerful sound with 50% more bass for a mesmerizing listening experience.

  • Featherweight Fit: The tiny true wireless earbuds weigh just 0.16oz (4.6g), which is 10% lighter than standard earbuds. They’re so small and light that they feel practically weightless in your ears.

Tech Review – Soundcore Life P3 earbuds

Soundcore are on a bit of a roll of late with their products and having tested their Liberty 3 Pro they will be a hard to beat pair of true wireless earbuds and I look forward to the next version of those, Recently we also tested there budget Life P2 mini and when both of these arrived I was stuck which to test first so I tested side by side and put other work aside to get a handle on both products and yet again Soundcore deliver and these would be a more affordable pair if you do not have the bucks to shell out right now for the top tier.

The Life P3 come in a really cool range of colours to start with which I love as I am fed up with the typical Black and White offerings we see so much of however most manufacturers are moving away from this and giving us colours that pop and stand out which makes a statement and in my view if you want to get noticed you need to get seen and these do just that with the fresh colorways on offer.

The case they come in is really cool with a matt finish and we have the Sky Blue colour, there is LED lights on the front with a USB-C port on the rear with the logo up top and the case is also nice to hold in the hand and a kind of large pebble shape, once opened you get the earbuds which have a really nice silver trim on the edges which make them look more premium and these stand out plus you have also got wireless charging thrown in for the mix which for me works as I have wireless charging options all over my house and office.

Soundcore Life P3 techbuzzireland

These are the typical stem finish which looks well and not to bold or standoutish either and once fitted with the right tips these sit well and will not move in the ears giving great noise isolation straight away. You have simple to use touch controls here which I found just about perfect with response and work every time which saves those embarrassing taps with nothing happening. They also have adopted what some other manufacturers have started doing which is an ear fit test which is welcome and will give you the benefits in the end as well as trying out the right tips which you should do with all earbuds..There is no auto play and pause detection here which might bother some however you have the controls to set up as you wish in the app and it is often the option I choose myself.

You have full app access here which is great, again we go through this in the video review, however there is no voice commands like Hey Siri for example but again this is something I never really use being honest, the app however gives you the option to makes things suited best to you and this is a feature I like and gives you more control giving you the best option to tailor the right sounds for you, highs lows and mids are fine here with decent bass too and decently loud, again these showed no lag latency either where fine on calls and did well with Netflix Youtube and more plus you have a gaming mode for some extra fun if you are a gamer. ANC works well but not much noted in the options available this though does depend on your surroundings but indoors work best in my book with a quiet environment.

Features

  • Pocket-Sized pop of Color: Life P3 noise cancelling earbuds come in 5 eye-catching colors to pair with your personal style. And the ultra-compact case fits effortlessly in small bags or pockets.
  • Fueled By The Beat: Life P3 noise cancelling earbuds’ thumping sound is produced by custom 11mm composite drivers. Activate BassUp mode in the app to further intensify bass in real-time.
  • Multi-Mode Noise Cancelling: Sync the noise cancelling to your location for an optimized experience. Transport, Outdoor, and Indoor modes are each tailored to block out irritating background noises in each environment.
  • Enhanced Call Performance: Life P3 noise cancelling earbuds have 6 microphones and an exclusive algorithm to tune out background noises. Your voice will be heard clearly on calls, video chats, livestreams, and more.

Tech Review – Creative Aurvana Trio LS earphones

Looking for an old school pair or earphones but ones the deliver the Aurvana Trio LS might be a pair to look at, These come with the traditional cable with an inline remote control and also look more expensive than they are and not only this these can be boosted even more with having compatibility with the Super XFI AMP which just enhances the listening experince as a whole, we also have a review of this amp coming up and this is a must have for the audio fan simple as.

These earbuds though do sound good as is out of the box and if you do not have a phone with a headphone jack you can use the said AMP to connect to a USB enabled device though having the AMP is recommended from my testing but again out of the box they sound decent and are loud with a good balance all round even at max volume..

These are also equipped with sawtooth sheath cables to help minimize disruptive microphonic noise. It also offers fuss-free controls with a built-in microphone and inline remote control which makes it a breeze for users to pick up calls and control the music playback with just a simple press of a button. On top of that, it is compact and easy to carry around with a handy pouch provided along with magnetic earbuds to keep it tangle-free.

Tech Review – Poly Sync 40 conference speaker

The Poly Sync 40 is one of three new speakers that is now available and is an ideal solution for either home or office use and not only this you can use it as a standard bluetooth speaker for pumping out the tunes and it is quite good too, This speaker is a really well built and designed speaker it must be said and looks well in any setting.

What makes this unit stand out is the connectivity options at hand here and you can connect via bluetooth or cable and the cable is stowed underneath the unit which is a nice touch. The build quality is great and the looks to match with a cloth finish up top and you get two full width bars and touch sensitive buttons which are simple to use, in fact using this is a simple affair no matter what way you look at it.

We have intuitive easy to use touch controls on board here too which is nice these are placed on the bottom half of the speaker on the top, you get Bluetooth pairing, volume controls audio muting and the option to control calls taken with the speaker itself and on the side you have a power button, USB port and a pairing button again if you wish to link another speaker.

All this makes for an easy speaker unit to control and this is what you get alongside its solid sturdy build and it does look great I have to say so it will not look out of place at home or in the office, but it does not stop there this can be used in a personal capacity too which means you can connect your device to it for personal music and again it does a really great job here and for me serves good enough to save you buying a second speaker for music you can hear the samples below in the video review.

Poly Sync 40

What really stands out is the light bars which I really like and these change colour with audio levels it is a really cool feature you expect to see on more modern home us speakers for audio so this unit is trying to give users that element making it feel more like a hybrid model giving you those light effects if this is what you ate into and it looks great having both bars fill the top and bottom of the speaker.

What Poly have created here is a simple effective speaker that can be used at home or in the office and they have pulled it off with its simplicity and ease of use and not only that it is portable enough too making it versatile and in this segment of such speakers it is something you do not see to often.

The Poly Sync 40 conference speaker was sent to us to review with no input, preview or monetary reward they are seeing the review the same time as you.

Tech Review – Skullcandy Dime

Looking for some cheap earbuds that are certainly ones that stand out with looks and colour well these might just be up your street and at a price of 25 euro they are pretty decent with sound at that price it must be said, for 25 euro you can pick up earbuds these days from your local petrol station and more but a known brand though? Not so much, Skullcandy are a well known brand and we have been testing their products for years and they are quite consistent. Having seen these advertised in LIDL last week we decided to go pick some up and check them out, the Skullcandy Dime launched back in March this year in other colour variants and interesting but these colours we just had to check out and go full hands on due to the Irishness involved here.. We are a fan of Skullcandy and their headphones are some of the best out there especially ones like the Skullcandy Crusher Evo one of their latest earbuds the Skullcandy Push Active IQ, just like all our reviews we go real hands on without the stock image no context approach and check out both pairs of these new additional colours so we can see what it is you get for your money which in this case is not much to shell out.

Build and design and looks

These are quite small earbuds and with big hands they might be a bit awkward to control, however there is a theme going on be it a cadbury creme egg wrapper or Lidl colours and a remote fob for a car they certainly stand out for me and you will get noticed with them on that is for sure, they are one of the smallest earbuds I have tried in some time. When I say they are small that they are, in fact the size of my thumb nail as you will see in the video, Big hands do get in my way sometimes and here is a fine example.

skullcandy dime in case techbuzzireland

Fit

Given the size of them they fit rather well and will not fall out you get extra tips in the box which is of course expected and a nice micro USB cable with a plastic end on the USB-A side rather than metal to charge them with they have a tiny stem which helps secure them that little bit more. You also get an IPX 4 rating thrown in.

Controls

You have the basics here and access to their app too which is limited, you can skip and reverse tracks, play and pause music and change the volume which is enough for most people and you can control calls.. There is one button on each earbud that controls the lot keeping it simple. However app access at this price point is unheard of even though there is little on offer it is something to take note of.

Sound

They sound decent enough for the price it has to be said and if it is your first pair of earbuds you can’t really go wrong in fairness, highs lows and mids fine no distortion on max volume and do not sound tinny they do a good job listening to music watching Netflix and more so you should be pleased with the audio experience. Distortion and a tinny sound is a key attribute at low priced earbuds but this is not the case here which is something to take note of.

skullcandy dime closed case

You could argue there is a novelty factor here due to the colorway but some folk like something different, there is no partnership here with LIDL or Cadbury and the colours just happen to be right for those companies but LIDL did have their own brand trainers before and if a company was to partner with the company it would cost a pretty penny taking away the price these are available for now but this is just one of those cases it is what it is and coincidence and nothing more but nonetheless a talking point for many and my inboxes on my social media has had some funny messages and also some of irrational thoughts which I will be sharing on Twitter soon for some fun and perhaps silence a few at the same time.

Tech Review – Google Pixel 6

The Google Pixel 6 and the Pro version have had the usual fanfare this year with leaks galore and set tongues wagging at the same time with those leaks which we avoid and this was due to the total redesign of the devices compared to previous models and one that stands out too giving the phones a unique look breaking away from all the rest of the phones we see that look pretty much the same and this was a good move and not only that they look much better than the previous models too and this led to lots of talk, opinions and more which of course is good for publicity but how does the Pixel 6 fair out from my time with it so far, let’s have a look.. I will not be boring you with specs here but let’s just talk about the experience.

Design and build

Let’s be clear here when you pick up the Pixel 6 you know you are picking up a flagship device the design is also quite unique and this stands out from its predecessors easily it looks premium and feels premium and people have asked me what phone it is which is something not often said especially when most could already tell what phone I use the same applied to the Galaxy Z flip 3 which I have parked aside now. The phone is not light but this aint bad you know it is in your pocket unlike the Z flip3 which had me doubting myself sometimes. The glass front and rear with metal sides feels so solid in the had too.

The camera which you can see videos and images from later is another talking point here with the bar across the rear of the device and I like it, the phone will not rock on the table here and gives a raised viewing angle and if you slap a case on it gets better ( check out our pixel 6 case reviews ) The camera bar has already have several names attached to it be we will not go there it looks good in my eyes and also serves as a balancing tool in my hand with my right finger nestling underneath when in use.

The key placement is fine here with the volume rockers and power on/off keys on the left side which I prefer on a phone anyway, the lack of a rear fingerprint sensor here might be a miss for some and I rather that myself and due to the current on screen fingerprint sensor being a big notorious right now it is missed but hopefully a software update will fix this in the future..

The screen is a joy to consume media on and in fact just work on as a whole and this coupled with the stereo speakers it makes in a win the media consumption end of things which adds to the user experience for those who spend most of their time on their phone like me for work and more..

Performance

My use case would be different than others I am a power user I work on the go and at home and mostly off my mobile phone and have been doing so for years and will remain that for for the foreseeable future and having done so on this device it has been a simple effortless task when it came to doing what I do no matter where I would be so doing emails documents social media and more and all this was great thanks to the big screen estate the only issue I came across was video editing on this phone, As one that uses mobile for video and not a standalone camera the Pixel 6 is my new driver for videos which is fine nonetheless but when it came to processing videos it was slow compared to even the likes of my Samsung Galaxy Z flip 3 or my old PIxel 5. I would have a video shot, edited processed and uploaded on the Pixel 5 and Flip 3 whilst the video would be just finished processing on the 6, I did think this may have been an app issue but trying the same thing on several phones it was consistent but again this could be fixed with updates I hope and I still use the Pixel 6 for my video reviews daily due to the quality results you get from the camera, Asides that it is fine and does a great job even on gaming which i do not do much of nor have the time too but it caused no problems there.

Camera

The camera has been a big factor with Google devices for the last few years and with computational photography being the thing it has not changed here at all it is a fantastic camera and low light video and pictures are great, this has been solid over the last few weeks testing the device and it is still one of the top cameras out there right now and below you can see some videos and images taken with the device and you can decide for yourself, these are all standard real world takes and not something in particular I went out to look for, there is some cool tricks you can use with the pixel 6 like magic eraser and that which is great to get rid of what is not wanted and is not so much a gimmick as some might call it. The Pixel 6 does lack the telephoto lens here which for me is not really an issue overall..

Night samples on the Pixel 6

Day samples on the Pixel 6

The screen on the Pixel 6 is great with a 90hz refresh rate so consuming media here is a joy overall and the same applies to gaming given gamers would prefer the 120 hz refresh rate here but for films or watching You Tube you are on a winner here with the screen estate at hand here.. If you want that bit more on the screen refresh you need to look at the Pixel 6 pro folks.

When it came to my usage on battery it would differ from the average user so take note, I did get the full day most days being a power user but some days I was reaching for a charger, again this depends on the work you do on the device and for me my device is used all day long. For most outside my work portfolio they would easily seek a day no worries here.

Overall if you want a decent camera and device with a superb build with good power this is one of the best if not best devices on the market now for the money there is lots of stuff here and with Google you get plenty like Google Lens and so on, Google and their services is a massive plus for me as I am an entrenched user in the ecosystem so for those who like the same it is a no brainer for others though it might seem a bit niche but if you want to try something new and not tried any of the Google device portfolio yet you should check this one out or perhaps the 6 Pro..
