Intel Core i7 vs AMD Ryzen 7

In case you are in the market to buy a new laptop or desktop for your everyday computing needs, you would want to get something highly powerful. Whether you are using your PC for office work, gaming, entertainment, education, content creation, or anything else, having a powerful PC is always great.

And even though there are a lot of components and factors that affect the performance of a given gaming PC, the processor surely plays a highly important role. When you are talking about powerful CPU models for desktops and laptops, then the Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7 prove to be great options. Thus, we are here with a detailed comparison between Intel Core i7 vs AMD Ryzen 7 including their differences on desktop and laptop platforms as mentioned here:

Intel Core i7 vs AMD Ryzen 7 for Desktops

Starting with desktops, it is the preferred platform when you are talking about high performance computing. As for the CPU options, both Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7 are meant to go inside high end desktops with similar high end components. Talking about their supported motherboards, the latest CPU models of AMD Ryzen 7 are meant for AM4 motherboards.

On the other hand, the Intel Core i7 lineup of processors is designed for the LGA 1200. While both of them are meant to be replaced in the next generation of CPUs, AM4 offers slightly better compatibility in terms of using older and cheaper motherboards with the same socket.

CPU Models

Now that you know more about the Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7 processors in general, let’s take a deeper look at their specific models. As you would expect, both Intel and AMD offer multiple CPU models within a given lineup. And for the sake of an easy comparison, we will be taking a look at the high end models of the Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7.

Starting with Intel Core i7, its Core i7 11700KF has a total of 8 cores and 16 threads along with 16M cache. These are rated to run at a 3.6 GHz base clock speed and up to 5.0 GHz boost clock speed. As for the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, it comes with 8 cores and 16 threads paired with 32M cache. And thanks to its 3.8 GHz base clock speed and up to 4.7 GHz boost clock speed, you can expect excellent performance from it.

CPU Benchmarks

While the specifications of any given CPU can be a great way to compare its performance, you need to know more to get an idea of its real world performance. One great way to check this is to simply check the benchmarks of the CPU model that you are using in your computer.

Taking a look at Cinebench R23, the Intel Core i7 11700KF has a single core score of 1569 which is slightly lower than the 1594 single core score of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. Similarly, the multi core score for the Intel Core i7 11700KF is rated at 15011 which comes right under the 15245 multi core score of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X.

Intel Core i7 vs AMD Ryzen 7 for Laptops

Even though the laptop market used to be dominated by Intel in the past, these days you can also find a wide range of high end options from AMD as well. In other words, even if you are buying high performance laptops, you can still find both Intel Core i7 as well as AMD Ryzen 7 models in those.

Talking about the laptops that feature these powerful processors, you can find gaming laptops under $1000 and also business laptops out there with these CPU options. Although, to make these CPUs work in thin and light chassis, their power configuration is much lower to keep cooling manageable. As for the available options, Intel takes a lead here because you can find many more laptop models to choose from if you are going with Intel.

CPU Models

As mentioned earlier, you can find both low power U series processors as well as high end H series ones while buying high performance laptops. And because there are multiple processor models within the U series and H series lineups from both Intel and AMD, the total number of CPU models is quite high that you can choose from while buying laptops. To help you in understanding their differences easily, we will be taking a look at the high end models of the Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7 which are available in laptops.

Beginning with Intel, the Intel Core i7 11850H features 8 cores and 16 threads alongside 24M cache. As for its clock speeds, it features 2.5 GHz base clock speeds and up to 4.8 GHz boost clock speeds. Coming to AMD, its AMD Ryzen 7 5800H has a total of 8 cores and 16 threads paired with 16M cache. Talking about its clock speeds, you get 3.2 GHz base clock speeds and up to 4.4 GHz boost clock speeds.

CPU Benchmarks

Just like desktop processor models offered by Intel and AMD, you cannot get an idea of their real life performance by taking a look at their specifications. Thus, we are here with all the detailed CPU benchmarks in the form of Cinebench R23 scores for both the Intel Core i7 11850H and the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H. Taking a look at the single core scores in Cinebench R23 for these CPUs, the AMD Ryzen 5800H falls behind at 1445 which is much lower than Intel Core i7 11850H’s 1517 single core score.

Although, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H still takes a lead in multi core score which is given at 12969 that happens to be slightly higher than the 12345 score of the Core i7 11850H. While the Intel Core i7 does offer better single core performance, it has much higher power consumption. As a result, the AMD Ryzen 7 still makes for a better overall option thanks to its excellent power efficiency resulting in better battery life.

Conclusion

After checking out all these various details regarding the Intel Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7 CPUs, you must be ready to pick the right one for you. Starting with desktops, both the AMD Ryzen 7 and Intel Core i7 offer excellent CPU performance.

Although, for content creation and multithreaded applications, the AMD Ryzen 7 proves to be a better option. As for laptops, the AMD Ryzen 7 is the much better option as not only do you get similar performance but you get much better efficiency which is important for cooling in a laptop as well as its battery life.

The PS5: Did It Live Up to The Hype?

Now that the PS5 has been out and available to the public for almost a year now, we can finally take a look back and have a look at just how much the PS5 was able to live up to the expectations people had.

The hype and excitement surrounding the PS5 leading to its launch was truly mind-boggling, and seemingly everyone knew that the PS5 was right around the corner, both gamers and non-gamers alike.

In this article, we will be taking a look at if the PS5 was able to live up to the hype it received before its launch to find out if the hype was warranted or if it ending up being a slight disappointment and people’s expectations may have been too high.

The controller Is Truly a Vital Innovation

The new haptic feedback feature that the new PS5 controllers feature is truly a game-changer.

There are only a few other times where the same feeling that haptic feedback gives has been properly implemented, and such a culture shock is a welcomed addition in the sea of familiarity and sameness that seems to have taken over the gaming industry today.

Haptic feedback is a process in which in-game movements and touch are brought to life through the controller. For example, let’s say you are playing the newest call of duty and you are firing a machine gun. Well, with haptic feedback, it will almost feel like you are firing a machine gun in real life.

The new controllers are able to give players much more immersion. This dedication to creating the most immersive experience possible is one that has come to define the entire length and breadth of the gaming industry.

In hardware, this translated to more sensorial experiences. In software, it demands a great deal more creativity from developers. For example, one of the most popular parts of the gaming world is the casino industry, in which online slots have been designed to be as similar as possible to the real thing by incorporating a variety of features with that exact goal in mind, or how video communication apps like skype allow people to have an experience that almost rivals that of real life.

Every minuscule feeling you’d expect to find on a real-life machine gun such as the sound and feel of reloading, the recoil when shooting, and even the sound and feel of a bullet leaving the chamber can now be felt through the controller thanks to haptic feedback.

It’s a difficult concept to explain, and it’s hard to give haptic feedback the true explanation it deserves. However, as soon as you get your hands on a PS5 and pick up the controller, you will have absolutely no doubt about just how good haptic feedback is.

Endless Possibilities and increased Capabilities

Of course, with every new generation of console comes a drastic increase in power and performance, the PS5 is no exception.

The capabilities of the PS5 and the quality of the games it can run are truly impressive, so much so that you will probably need to get a new specially made PS5 TV in order to utilise it to its maximum capacity.

We have only just begun to see what the PS5 is capable of, and in reality, it will take game developers a while to even start producing games that are able to fully utilise the PS5’s abilities.

It’s not only the graphics that have gotten a huge upgrade. In addition to the new eye-watering graphics, the overall performance of the PS5 is a substantial improvement over its predecessor.

This means that most games are easily able to run at 60FPS consistently, which was only ever achieved by a few select games in the previous generation. This leads to the whole experience with the PS5 being much smoother and seamless, offering performance of the likes that has never been seen before.

More of the Same, Which is Not a Bad Thing

If you are a long-time owner of a PS4 and looking to make the switch to the PS5, there really won’t be too much of a difference in how it feels.

Of course, the drastic improvements in performance and graphics and the increased frame rate will certainly be a welcomed addition, and the haptic feedback does provide a unique experience. Although, the whole experience with the PS5 is not too much different from its predecessor.

While this may sound like a bad thing at first, that could not be further from the truth. The PS4 was a great console that was loved by many, and to make changes to an already near-perfect system would be unnecessary and perhaps counter-intuitive.

The PS5 takes everything that was good about the PS4, and simply improves it.

Sure, this may be disappointing for those who were expecting a completely brand-new experience from the PS5 compared to the PS4, but the PS5 is a great console that works well in every way.

Overall, the PS5 is an amazing console. Sure, perhaps it didn’t live up to the hype, but when people have such high expectations and hopes it’s hard for any product to do so now.

The common consensus in the gaming community is that the PS5 is a great addition to the PS5 series, offering a huge boost to performance as well as the truly unique haptic feedback in the controller.

The only people who seem to be disappointed with the PS5 are those who set unrealistic expectations that no console would have ever been able to live up to.

Playing Trials of Osiris and More PvP in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 has been improving and expanding more in recent years. With new expansions, there are more updates in the game to look out for. One of the hottest modes in the game right now is the PvP mode, specifically Trials of Osiris.

If you’re new to Destiny 2, be prepared for a challenging and competitive play or opt for a Trial of Osiris Flawless Carry option. Nevertheless, you still have to know many things about Destiny 2’s PvP and Trials of Osiris, which we will discuss in this article.

PvP in Destiny 2

The Crucible modes, as Destiny 2 veterans call them, are unlocked the first time a player joins the game. However, some modes are more complex than others, especially for newbies. Under the Player-versus-Player (PvP) game category, aside from the Trials of Osiris, you can choose from the following modes:

  • Survival – Exhaust the lives of the players in the opposing team to win the round in this three-player team mode.
  • Mayhem – A mode that requires six players for each team. The first team to reach 125 points wins. Killing the other team will give you a point, while killing using Super or abilities will add two more points.
  • Rumble – The first to earn 30 points by killing a player wins.
  • Control – Another six-versus-six mode where teams capture and control marked zones. One point is given for one kill, and the first team to reach 150 points wins.
  • Elimination – Three players for each team need to kill and defeat the entire enemy team to win.
  • Clash – A timed game where the first team to get 150 points wins, or whichever team has more points after the time.
  • Showdown – The goal is to defeat the other team as much as you can before the timer ends.
  • Vaulted PvP modes – More modes, including Breakthrough, Countdown, Team Scorched, Trials of the Nine, and others, fall under this.

Trials of Osiris

Trials, in general, fall under the Elimination mode, where teams have to defeat the other team entirely in order to win. Trials of Osiris is a top PvP activity that can be played every weekend where you can gain Valor.

Game Schedule

Like mentioned, Trials of Osiris can be played every weekend. This starts during the reset time on Fridays and lasts until Tuesday. This means you can play from Friday at 17:00 GMT to Tuesday.

Game Mechanics

Based on the elimination PvP mode, three players on a team will have to fight with their best to kill the members of the other team and vice versa. Anyone who’s killed won’t be respawned automatically until one of their teammates resurrects them.

To resurrect a team member, you must go to their location and hold the resurrection button for some period. If your team killed all the three members of the other team, you win that specific round.

Trials of Osiris is a game composed of five rounds. The first team to win three rounds will win the whole game. Each round lasts for only a certain amount of time and has a timer that pushes players to challenge their enemies in combat.

For rounds where no entire team was defeated until the end of the time limit, the teams can find a flag appearing in the middle of the map. The first one to take it takes the round as well.

Trials Passages

The latest version of Trials of Osiris came with five interesting Passages. Each of them has its own benefits to the players when climbing to the Lighthouse, and each depends on the number of wins and losses of a player. If you’ve been defeated three times, you can’t proceed for Trials until you buy a new Passage or reset the one you have.

You can also only hold one Passage at a time, but you can change it whenever you want to. But, be reminded that changing your Passage will reset your progress. You can get these five exotic Passages from Saint-14:

  • Mercy – One loss can be forgiven per ticket.
  • Ferocity – If you have no losses, a third win will give you an additional bonus win.
  • Confidence – You can unlock this only after going Flawless since you will be granted rewards from the Flawless chest.
  • Wealth – This is unlocked after five wins and grants more tokens after winning Trials matches.
  • Wisdom – You can only unlock this after seven wins. This Passage will give you bonus XP based on the number of Trials wins indicated on your ticket.

Aside from these, there are also some rewards you can get in the game. You can receive Luminous Engrams based on your number of wins as a reward. At the same time, Flawless victory allows you to reach the Lighthouse to gain pinnacle gears from the chest.

Tips on Playing Trials of Osiris

To be able to ride the tides of this competitive game, here are some helpful basic tips you can etch on your mind when you play:

  • Learn how to play the game properly.
  • Understand your character’s skills and how to upgrade them.
  • Communicate with your teammates on strategies in game and off.
  • Utilize the benefits of Passages.
  • Develop an efficient and effective plan on your own or with your team.

Everything might be overwhelming, especially if you’re new to Destiny 2. Although it sounds like a lot of work, playing Trials of Osiris is made competitive so that it can be fun. It doesn’t matter if you win all the time – enjoy playing the game.

Aliens vs Germans in Plan B from Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey

Publisher Assemble Entertainment and developer RobotPumpkin Games are pleased today to announce Plan B from Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey, a sci-fi adventure that pits intergalactic castaways against South-German hospitality — headed to Windows PC via Steam, iOS, and Android this autumn. The title follows a similar format to Robot Pumpkin’s debut title, The Innsmouth Case, presented as an interactive novel where the player’s choices affect the outcome of the game — which means 19 different possible endings to explore! The title will also be featured at this year’s Gamescom 2021, where press and influencers will be invited to an exclusive first-look presentation. So pour a tall mug of Hefeweizen, throw some Weisswurst on the grill, and polish that accent to ensure the locals don’t catch on that you aren’t from the neighborhood…

Plan B from Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey is a charming, comedic sci-fi adventure that lovingly pokes fun at Bavarian culture in a way that only Robot Pumpkin Games can,” said Stefan Marcinek, CEO of Assemble Entertainment. “It’s got cute aliens, pretzels, and plenty of (virtual) beer… what more could you ask for?”

“As an indie studio, it was an unbelievable accomplishment to launch our debut The Innsmouth Case to all modern platforms. Now, we are thrilled to unveil our next game, Plan B from Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey,” said Caroline Podeswa, CEO of RobotPumpkin Games.

“We adore funny and bizarre stories; thus we can’t wait to show our next adventure to the community this fall.”

While taking a cruise through our solar system, a delightfully adorable extraterrestrial is struck by space debris and comes crashing down in the south of Germany. Unfortunately for them, the locals aren’t exactly up to speed on the reality of life outside of Earth, so these shapeshifting castaways must use their special abilities to blend in with these “Barbvarians” and figure out how to get off the planet, which smells strongly of hops and salted bread. Plan B from Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey is an engaging, heartfelt adventure that flips the script on classic “Alien Invader” tropes!

Key Features of Plan B from Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey Include:

  • “Basic” Bavarians Meet “Extra” Terrestrials: Design your very own cute, cuddly, and conniving space creature with unique features and a touching backstory
  • Make the Right (or Funniest) Decision: With 19 possible endings, every choice matters, which means plenty of trial and error with comedic results
  • Big Brain Blobs: Use those alien wits to solve fun, challenging mini-games and discover handy (or tentacle-y) items to help you escape the savage backwater of Southern Germany
  • Handmade German Craftsmanship: Dozens of beautifully illustrated backgrounds and animated characters breathe life and personality into this sci-fi comedy experience

Developed by Robot Pumpkin Games and published by Assemble EntertainmentPlan B from Outer Space: A Bavarian Odyssey will launch on Steam, iOS, and Android this autumn.

Stardeus is launching its Kickstarter Campaign on 16th August. #Gaming #Stardeus #Kickstarter

Solo developer, Kodo Linija, is excited to announce their sci-fi colony sim Stardeus will launch its Kickstarter campaign on the 16th of August. Stardeus takes inspiration from titles like RimWorld, Factorio, Dwarf Fortress, Oxygen Not Included, and FTL to deliver the depth of a colony management sim rarely seen among the stars.

In Stardeus, you play as an immortal AI who has an army of robots and drones at their disposal. Like all colony sim games, how you play Stardeus is entirely up to you. Grow a human colony on your ship, sure. Start a robot uprising, why not. You can even choose to turn all your crew into human batteries to satisfy your greed for electricity. The stars really are the limit when it comes to the open-ended gameplay of Stardeus.

To really make your ship thrive you’ll need to manage your crew, both robotic and human, all offering different personalities; ensure power is sustainable; explore space with resource gathering expeditions and be sure to squash any face-hugging aliens before an infestation breaks out

Embedded in every mode and base you build is the focus on AI storytelling. This off-the-cuff approach to narrative will make every situation on a ship unique to the player’s own personal experience. This storytelling can result in eye-watering comedic moments from the interaction of crew members to face-palming fires that destroy half your space empire. Nothing in Stardeus is a scripted story, it’s your story and your rules.

Stardeus will launch its Kickstarter campaign on Monday 16th of August. A playable demo will be available to everyone, offering up to 2 hours of gameplay. There is instant alpha access available to backers, which offers around 15 hours of progress gameplay. However, there is no time lock on the alpha access so players can build until their hearts are content.
