Ireland has wasted €867 million in renewable wind energy since the Government has taken office
EnergyCloud‘s recently published our Pre Budget Submission with the following key recommendations:
  • Establish Ireland’s first Targeted Surplus Renewable Energy Credits for homes experiencing energy poverty
  • Build a National Fleet of Smart, Flexible Energy Assets that can absorb energy that would otherwise be wasted
  • Ensure that all social homes built and all future retrofits should have Demand Flexible heating and storage devices installed
Energy Cloud expect that they will have over €600 million of wasted renewable wind energy in Ireland this year and, according to the ESRI, for a cost of €375 million per annum we can help 550,000 homes in Ireland exit energy poverty, significantly impacting the affordability crisis for our citizens and reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
In EnergyCloud, they believe that it is vital in Budget 2027 that we begin to deliver on the commitments in the Programme for Government to use surplus renewable energy, that would otherwise be wasted, to help those in energy poverty.
If not now, then when?
