Tech Review – ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 Video Light

Be it a content creator filmmaker you need lights, how many will vary and this to some extent is an overkill for me however will be used and going forward with plans will be part of the set-up and you could consider this  rather affordable start up cost for a small producer I might ad as some kits run into the thousands. This one the ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 Video Light will set you back 400 euro but it is worth the money and portable and everything comes in a cool travel case saving space time and keeps all the kit in one place.

Probably an overkill for me however the light output is fantastic as you will see in the video demo below and alongside the app makes it simple to use and it can certainly give you the light required to focus on a subject or area, the app allows you to control the lights as well as the controls on the device itself which for me is a better option so the light can be placed anywhere and for the user standing back away from it can get a better idea of the brightness situation rather than being behind it which gives you a better look from both perspectives.

There are two fans on the device and yes it can be warm around it,these fans are silent more or less and emit no noise which is important for most using this I would imagine having such a big output,  The ZHIYUN MOLUS G200 boasts a peak output of up to 200W under normal usage, with a one-press MAX Extreme mode that delivers a staggering peak output of up to 300W.

Three modes for professional scenes

Normal mode: Simply turn on the light using the conventional switch.
Live mode: Automatically turns on as soon as it’s powered on. You can sync multiple lights with a single power source.

Music mode: The built-in radio port flashes synchronously according to the ambient sound volume.

The App

The ZY Vega App supports Bluetooth Mesh networking, allowing for remote dimming and quick switching of presets. Achieving professional lighting on any film set or studio is effortless and convenient.

Tech Review – ZHIYUN FIVERAY V60, 60W light wand combo

ZHIYUN has been part of our review channel for some years now with their equipment that we use on a daily basis and we have some other products in for review from them so stay tuned for those coming soon, today we are here to talk about the FIVERAY V60 light wand combo pack which gives you control over the tone you need for the subject you will be focussing on.

This is a less expensive version of similar lights we have reviewed such as the FIVERAY F100 stick light and the FR100C light stick which are also great tools to have at your disposal which cater in other ways compared to this one and it is great to see that the company does offer different solutions for different needs. Both those previous models had colour options as you will see in the reviews and had some cool features.

This model is less complicated to use and again portable or can be placed on a tripod to set the tone, you could use two or more of these in a scene or just one like what we will be basing our review on which is plenty for now in my set up.

If you do plan to use a tripod and want it vertical you will need a strong one as it will be top heavy

Once set up this is simple to use, really simple you have two dials to adjust your needs as you will see in the video below, this for me is ideal to focus on one point but others may be more useful in certain settings, this not only provides multiple light modes but also music modes too. ZHIYUN has further innovated and improved the ergonomics of its pioneering  industry-first sling grip. Crafted from skin-friendly materials, its soft hand grip supports  the precise fine-tuning of the wrist angle with a knob, allowing for accurate adaptation to gimbal operating and camera movement habits and one or two handed operation. The extendable sling grip can be adjusted to a two-handed grip mode and allows for left and right tilt adjustments to the direction of the gimbal handle as well as the grip centre of gravity, making low-angle and sling mode shooting effortless.

The Bluetooth shutter control on the WEEBILL 3S with mainstream camera models, allows for the recording button to start/stop recording or trigger photo-taking functions, to enable a seamless shooting experience.

0.96-inch bilingual (EN/CH) display screen makes perfecting shots in-situ easy. This  feature has shortcuts for motion lapse, V mode, etc meaning your preferred shooting feature is just one touch away. Creative control is further facilitated with the WEEBILL 3S’s control wheel which supports adjusting parameter, focus motor, and gimbal axes, making your perfect shots come to life.

Dublin Smartphone Film Festival is back with a BANG with more Mobile Movie Magic

Now in its 6th year, The Dublin Smartphone Film Festival returns to the Capital for another weekend of mobile movie brilliance. Taking place on June 3rd -DubSmartFF has the usual exciting mix of shorts, features and workshops, but this time at the beautiful MART GALLERY & RATHMINES Ominplex in Dublin 6

This year’s festival is bigger than ever with filmmaking workshops, a range of short films from 15 countries around the globe, and an Irish premiere of the heartbreaking documentary Everybody’s Oma from award-winning with director Jason Vangenderen 

The festival organizers have meticulously curated an exceptional program, emphasizing powerful original concepts and innovative utilization of technology. In an exciting development, this year’s festival has partnered with esteemed brands such as Zacuto, Dreamgrip, and Zhyiun as well as Ireland’s premier tech site, Goosed.ie. These collaborations will offer fantastic prizes and gifts to fortunate audience members coming to the event
