Tech Review – KIKR S1 (2-in-1 Phone/Tablet stand with Dual 10W Wireless Chargers) #KIKR #Tech

Wireless charging is something everyone should adopt it is more convenient and for two other reasons, it saves you on cables and saves your port as these are always things to go bust and meaning you have to spend on more later on. This new product though solves both and can charge two devices at once and it is also compact and does not take up much room either and ideal for your bedside locker or just to have it beside you in your office set-up.

It has a foldable One-Piece Integrated Design compact and portable, you can put S1 in your pocket and take it anywhere so it is not confined to use at home either and it is a great solution and saves you carrying cables too and loosing them as often the case we tend to forget our chargers on trips etc..

Another great feature here it is not a fixed product, most wireless chargers are fixed this can be adjusted to suit an angle you prefer this applies to the phone part not the base which can be used to charge your phone too and earbuds etc so there is some flexibility here and I like how you can angle the unit and height. This is a well built product with a good design and a must have for those whom have adopted wireless charging. On a side note this can also be a very useful product for media consumption too and is handy again for your bedside locker or to have sat beside your PC at home or in the office and gives you the option to have social media, emails etc on the screen at hand saving you tabs on your PC and so on. Review – The Quntis wireless charging phone mount. #Quntis #Tech

Charging solutions and mounts for your car are plentyful these days and come in all sorts and size and of course options which is good for the cinsumer,Wireless charging is another matter and something you should perhaps invest in. You will probably ask why.. Two things. First is saving on cables and second is saving your charge port.

Using wireless charging has still not taken off so much here but is on the up and you should be thinking of it, the ease of use by just dropping your phone on a charging block is not hard to get into the habit of  and once adopted you will never look back and the same applies here to the product here from Quntis..

With a simple installation and set up once fixed to the windscreen you are good to go and inserting and removing the device is simple too,the telescopic arm also gives you reach options and is a great idea and can be used im all vehicles, once it is in place it will not move and makes it easily accessable and great for the likes of navigation.  Wireless charging does has its drawbacks with speed but this is improving over time.

The Quntis model has held up with its charge for me and is ideal for any motorist and is not expensive to buy nor difficult to set up in your vehicle. This unit can support up to 10W charging and depends on your device but offers the standard 5w charging for other devices. Overall it is a very flexible mount with ways of making it the right fit for any vehicle.

Review – Otterbox 10,000 mAh Qi Powebank and power cables. #otterbox #tech

Otterbox have sent us over some products to check out which includes their super tough powerbank and some cables which simply beat most others out there due to their construction and also some cases but more on those at another time.

The powerbank is a solid block with what looks like the 21:9 aspect ratio which we now see in many phones today and is built like a tank with ports that are covered with a flap and textured edges and this is a 10,000 mAh which is more than enough for one person but three people can share this with its port availability making it a piece ideal for travel or going to festivals to keep you powered up on the go and knowing you have a solid piece that is built to last. This can be also got in a 20,000 mAh version too.. The top of the unit has a textured finish too and you also get some status LED lights to let you know how much juice you have left which is nice..

  • Battery Capacity 10,000 mAh and 20,000 mAh
  • Durable synthetic rubber exterior
  • Battery Status indicator and high speed charging
  • USB ports connect to chargers and devices
  • Dust and splash resistant Mil-Spec rated IP54

OtterBox USB-A/C Car Charger

Car charger are available all over the place but what I find is they are rubbish and fall apart after a few weeks or less due to the crap build quality with either the springs going or the ends falling off, this will not be the case here with this product and just like any other Otterbox product it is built to last, this offers USB A and USB-C charging which again can be used to charge to products on the go in your vehicle which saves you ports too..

  • Rugged for rough wear and tear
  • Charge two devices at once, fast (27-watts total)
  • USB-A port provides 5V/2.4A (12-watts)
  • USB-C port provides 5V/3A (15-watts)

USB-C to Lightning Cable 2 meter and Lightning Connector to USB Cable

Just like car chargers there is an abundance on offer in Euro shops and garages out there that always come in cheap and from any I have tried they are not worth the money and do not last and do offer a fire risk the cable is week and the ends typically wear down or just break off and thats it you are done, the saying is true “buy cheap buy twice” these cables are built to last and are constructed very well especially at the ends where most problems begin and these will last, these are also compatible with your car charger above and the wireless charging power bank too. With this range of cables you are sure to have power where and when you need it with knowing the cable will not fail your or get damaged easily.

Some might find such cables expensive but you have to pay to play and have the best equipment to ensure you are guaranteed a non failure when it comes to charging up your devices be it at home in the office or on the go.

Rugged and designed for long-term use, the Apple USB-C to Lightning cable from OtterBox features an extended strain relief at that notorious weak spot where the cable and connector attach. It charges at 3.0 AMPs and its braided nylon avoids tangling itself into knots. Pick from 1-meter and 2-meter lengths to upgrade your charging experience with the cable that’s made to last.

Charge up your iPhone or iPad with this ultrafast OtterBox Lightning Connector to USB-A cable, made robust for long-term durability.

IKEA will sell furniture with wireless chargers in US and UK By @VicenteA_George #ikea #wireless #charging

The well known “do-for-yourself” furniture maker IKEA have a big surprise for us in a couple of months.

The company will offer Lamps, Tables and Nightstands with wireless charging built in (under the Qi standard).

And if you have an Iphone or a Samsung and think “It doesn’t work for me” the company will also offer a range of case and covers for those handsets without wireless chargers backplates.

The collection will start to be sell on mid April in the U.K with prices starting at £30, they will be sell on the U.S later this year but we don’t have the exact date yet.

“Our belief is that mobile phones are vital parts to people’s lives at home and their desire to stay connected, and Qi addresses an unmet need to keep devices powered,” said Bjorn Block, Range Manager for Lighting and Wireless Charging, at IKEA. “As a member of WPC, we value the access to the leading and most advanced global standard for wireless charging.”

That’s good news for those who plan buy new stuff for home and even for the ones that only want a useful bed lamp that will also act as a charger.

Wireless charging at Mc Donalds in the UK .#WirelessCharging #McDonalds by @jimboireland

Wireless charging is still in its infancy along with NFC i think here in Ireland even though some manufacturers like Nokia and Microsoft have opted to give free wireless charging units with their phones of late, another thing is availability here in Ireland is rather poor and most often again they have to be imported. Not only that other manufacturers that did give chargers away have never been stocked here in retail, Also buying these chargers separately can be expensive which can be off-putting but we are seeing more cheaper ones come on stream.

Aircharge announced an expanded partnership with McDonald’s UK to add 600 wireless charging hotspots at more than 50 McDonald’s restaurants in London and elsewhere.

The expanded rollout comes after a successful initial market test between Aircharge and McDonald’s UK aimed at delivering additional value to customers, while also benefitting the McDonald’s operation.

According to a report from one McDonald’s location, customers were clamoring to access the Qi wireless charging service, prompting many to wait up to 30 minutes so they could.

The Aircharge charging spots were specially designed to be water resistant and easy to wipe clean – perfect for a public environment like a restaurant. And because they’re using Qi, many consumers already have devices that are ready to charge. There are already more than 70 Qi-enable smartphones on the market. During the rollout, Aircharge worked with Desireitnow for data layer support.

Even customers who don’t have a Qi-enabled smartphone can use the provided Aircharge wireless charging receiver. So next time you’re in the UK, make sure you get a wireless charge to go with your chips!

For more information, visit www.air-charge.com

So could this prove usefull here in Ireland, maybe, maybe not but its an interesting move alongside Mc Donalds already offering free Wi-Fi in stores they are helping you stay connected..
