Use 1 number across all your devices with AT&T #NumberSync By @VicenteA_George #AT&T #Carrier

One usual complaint from people who own more than one mobile device is that normally they need to carry two cell phone numbers.

Something that all of us dream in the ability to have the same number across multiple device’s , why? Well, maybe we use a Samsung for work because of the OS but we prefer to shoot photos with our Lumia phones for example.

Now that could actually be possible thanks to the folks at AT&T and their new feature NumberSync a new service that aims to share ONE Phone Number and Data Plan across all your mobile devices.

aohcnpdmggxrocnkk6agUsing their wireless network alongside the pre-existing methods for sharing data plans across devices, AT&T will enable you “basic phone” functions to all your other accessories like tablets or 2-in-1‘s

And it doesn’t need to be connected through Bluetooth or anything you don’t even need to carry your phone, (it doesn’t even have to be turned on!!)

This feature is not manufacturer nor OS restricted they only need to “enable” this ability on the devices in order to work.

Something that happens a lot is forgetting our phones everywhere, now imagine you’re running out of home with your bag and in the middle of the road realize you left your phone out and you need to do and important call, this feature will let you use your tablet (assuming you have one on your bag) to make the call and even send and received messages. Cool isn’t it?

In case you’re wondering about prices, NumberSync will be completely free (the feature, you’ll need to pay you mobile plan).

According to AT&T the first compatible device will be available “Soon” with more coming over the holidays season. They plan to make this feature “the norm” to future connected devices.

What do you think of this? Do you like the idea of using your same phone number on all your gadgets?

Taking the “Personal Assistant” to a new level, meet Sharp’s RoboHon By @VienteA_George #Robot #PA

Have you seen those futuristic movies where the characters have a small robot for companion? Well Sharp has created a new kind of smartphone with human-like shape and in some curious way similar to a tiny version of the “Bicentennial Man

Meet RoBoHon the “Heart moving phone”

Sharp‘s attemp to create something different rests in our “heartless cold” smartphones.

RoBoHon is capable of basic movements such as walking (a few steps), dancing, and waving his hands around to greet you. All that with the intencion of a more “human-like interaction”.

Imagine having Siri, Cortana or Google voice asistants in their own bodies, that what RoBoHon can be, aimed with an always on microphone, he’s ready at any time to help you to do lots of things such a set alarms or place phone calls, also with the integrated speaker you’ll hear your new mails and completely hands free send a response.

Also set Schedule Reminders and ask for directions, pretty much what you’d do with your phone.

Apart from everything that already have, this little fella also acts as “camera man” with sensors within the eyes capable of facial recognition, he takes pictures, record videos and even will tell you if you need to move.

And if this wasn’t enough, it also packs a small projector , so you can watch your photos or videos on any surface.

Thinking of everyday situations, when sometimes voice is not our best option to control this friend, Sharp include a tiny 2 inch QVGA screen on the back where you can type your commands

Take a look at the promo video (is entirely in Japanese, but we get the message)

Powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC, with 3G, LTE and WI-Fi capabilities and everything else you’ve seen here, we’re looking at something really interesting.

Unfortunately RoboHon is still in development stage, and will hit Japan shelves as soon as early 2016 but with no information about price or if is going to be available globally.

#Zilta A simple smartphone for over 55s #Irish by @jimboireland #JTB

Smartphones today are smart some big some small some thick some thin but regardless they can be often complicated and especially for the older generation.

Even house phones today can look difficult to some with more buttons and features been introduced.

The mobile phone is a part of most peoples daily life and  for some can be tiresome, remember doro introduced a simplified mobile some time ago? Now we have a touchscreen simplified device called Zilta.

It looks nice and has a generic look if you will between the many devices out there today.

This device offers a tiled look simple UI giving whats needed most at hand without having to scroll through menus and sub menus, often settings and other features are buried.

The device runs on the latest version of Android with play-store access and costs  €189 available later in the year,December is the expected release date. you can also pre order the device now for  €139.

I think this will do well with the target market and for the not so tech savvy, and wish Zilta,- Jukka & Lari  all the best.

#Aldi Medion Lifetab goes on sale Thursday 27th March for €99.00 #MobileTech #JTB

Aldi have a new tablet launching this week at a bargain price of 99 euros called the medion life tab.

With most tabs at this price range they are in short ,you get what you pay for tabs so dont expect a nexus 7 experience or anything, they tend to be sluggish, not having a real app store and full of stuff that well in short you will never use.

This one however is slightly above par at the price range so we think its a good buy for the price and will most likely sell well considered the factors given, there is still cheaper out there but been frank and honest they are not worth it.

These tabs maybe practical for young kids and they are cheap but offer a chance to learn things and develop some skills,as we have had many tabs and tried and tested ive gone through several of the sub 150 euro tabs due to been dropped,or plain and simple useless with constant issues such as freezing up and crashing but as i said its a situation of getting what you pay for.

#SMS is dying,and Irish Mobile Market share is changing.#Ireland #MobileTech #JimbosTechBlog

The mobile market in Ireland is a tough spot, also becoming more competitive but with Ireland still highly over priced compared to our EU counterparts its a tough business with new things coming, new plans, new ideas and in the future new competition but is this all good albeit we are expensive compared to our friends over the seas.

Taking into account we are a small country hence a small market we have breached the human population count with mobile phones, what does that mean??

Well according to statistics Ireland has just passed a 122.5% penetration rate last December, what that means in simple terms many of us have more than one phone, many of us tend to have back up phones just in case this been one reason, another would be people that have a personal and work phone, with phones now so cheap some can be called throwaway devices ,an example of that is say you are heading out for a night and you have a cheap phone and could not care less if you lost it,its a device you can be contacted on simple as that, and lets be honest how many people loose phones on the weekend or on night out,its happened to us all,and yes to me too…

SMS is dying its fact some think it different, well i have news for you it is,up until this year sms was dropping off a 10% rate annually this time round its  now down 27.6% and why? Its because of messaging apps, its funny how we are and can be still charged for sms in 2014 its been lucrative for operators over the years but now its slacking off at a drastic rate,In fairness we all have some free sms or bundle in mobile plans, free network to network sms etc and weekend rates with free sms,but because the market is so diverse people change network and sms may not be in the plan or you have a certain amount free, same applies to data which is now the money maker in mobile another thing for consumers to think about is data allowance..

Once we go over our sms or data allowances in any plan on any network its ching ching for the networks, always been the case, for a long time always will be but you can be clever to customize your plan or pick one that suits you so you do not go over your data, sms, voice allowance,we will be discussing this soon…

Remember sms apps run off data and wifi so this is where you can be smart should you have wifi at home in work or free public wifi in your area etc….

MMS is has also slacked off due to prices incurred on sending pictures etc, this is why messaging apps are taking over here too, would you spend 30 cent to send a photo when you can send one free over wifi or data? No it think not..

MARKET SHARE.

Lyca mobile now has a share of 4.5% relativity new but no so new they have entered the charts, they can offer great deals well done to them…

Tesco mobile have a 2.5% steak in the irish market…

Meteor and Emobile have a joint share of 21% in the market (sister networks)

O2 have lost share in the market share there remains a certain uncertainty here as the  acquisition  deal with three remains open, but soon we will know all about it.They have a 24% share in the market..

Three is at 10.1% if three take over 02 later in the year it will give them a massive jump of up to 40% approx..

Vodafone Ireland remain at tops still with a massive 39% while Vodafone is slightly more expensive offering the best coverage seems to be working, but all networks have blackspots, all networks still have to work on 3G and some commuter belts,as an example the M3 has bad coverage sometimes none or offering only edge as in data connection.

You can have a look in more detail here as to the latest figures direct from COMGREG

#LG announces G Pro 2 in South Korea #JTB #mobiletech

LG has just announced the arrival of it’s long anticipated successor to the G Pro, the G Pro 2. The handsets specs are too notch and with a huge 5.9 inch screen it’s one of the biggest phablets to date, being matched by the Oppo N1 and, well, in not including the galaxy mega because it’s no competition to the G Pro 2 whatsoever. The Lumia 1520 has a slightly bigger screen at 6 inches but I’m not sure you would really see a difference when using the handsets.

Specs:

Screen: 5.9 inch IPS 1080p
Processor: 2.26Ghz snapdragon 800
Memory: 16 or 32 GB variants with Micro SD slot for up to 64GB more – 3GB of RAM
Camera: 13mp rear facing camera with OIS plus – capable of recording 2160p @ 30fps, 1080 @ 60fps and 720 @ 120fps.
Dimensions: 157.9 x 81.9 x 8.3
Battery:3200 mAh

The G Pro 2 is a strong contestant in the mobile industry, with great specs like these and the fact it’s running android 4.4.2 out of the box give it a huge advantage over the phones we’ll be see at MWC.

The downside: The western market won’t be seeing the handset until April because LG thinks phablets are an Asian thing, I kid you not.

The device also comes with LG’s knock code feature, which is like the knock knock feature but the screen is divided into different sections and to unlock the device you have to tap them in the right order, this works even when the screen is off, which I personally think is a great bonus.

So what do you think? Will the G Pro 2 make it and become this years best handset, or should LG have waited to put in some newer technology? Let me know in the comments and I’ll see you all next time.
