Mitipi partners with Foncia to improve home security in France

Mitipi, the manufacturer of the KEVIN anti-intrusion device, partners with Foncia and joins the marketplace of France’s leading property management and rental company. This collaboration aims to improve home security through innovative technologies in France. KEVIN has proven to reduce the probability of burglaries by up to 100%.

A lot of burglaries in France

According to the Service statistique ministériel de la sécurité intérieure (SSMSI), in France (excluding Mayotte), 211,400 burglaries or attempted burglaries were recorded by the national police and gendarmerie services in 2022. This represents an average of 5.8 burglaries per 1,000 homes, one of the highest burglary rates in the world. According to initial, as yet unofficial estimates, these figures have risen again in 2023[1].

Improving home security in France

KEVIN, developed by Swiss company Mitipi, is a pioneering solution for deterring burglars. The device simulates human behavior using cutting-edge technology, making it harder for burglars to tell the difference between an empty and an inhabited house. Inspired by the “Home Alone” films, KEVIN® offers a series of patented functions, including the adjustment of light and shadow effects and the reproduction of pre-recorded authentic sounds. In addition, users can record and simulate their own noises, such as dog barking, domestic activities, TV viewing, and conversations between residents.

Mitipi has obtained US and EU patents for the “method, device and system for simulating human presence” and the “device and method for simulating a person’s shadow and/or noise”. Field research in collaboration with the police, burglars, and universities has shown that the presence of people is the best protection against burglary. In the thousands of homes where KEVIN® is already in use, no break-ins have been recorded, and the user recommendation rate has reached an impressive 92%.

Consumers in Ireland Can Benefit from Faster, More Precise Home Insurance Quotes

 In a development to help residents in the Republic of Ireland access fair and accurate home insurance cover following a record year of heat and rain, Ivernia Insurance, one of Ireland’s leading underwriting agencies, is set to use highly granular detail on property risks, in a new agreement with LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, the data, advanced analytics and technology provider.

The new agreement will enable Ivernia Insurance to gain a much deeper understanding of the property characteristics of a customer’s home, as well as the perils risks for the customer’s precise address such as flood, fire, and subsidence, at the point of quote. This will help Ivernia and its insurance partners, to deliver right, first-time insurance quotes, and products suited to each customer’s specific needs.

Ivernia Insurance will access the detailed property data, including precise perils risks from LexisNexis Risk Solutions, via Applied Riskhandler, a highly scalable SaaS platform * that enables rapid insurance product innovation and underwriting controls to speed the quote process for customers.

Homeowners in Ireland launch a ‘Battle of the Bills campaign for Home Insurance’ in efforts to curb inflation and overpayments

Bill Winner, a platform powered by consumers has today, announced the launch of its Battle of the Bills in Home Insurance contest. It will see the home insurance community in Ireland shop together and cast their votes for the best value provider and brokers across the country. With each Battle of the Bills competition running every three months, the rolling contest is designed to empower consumers to make better informed decisions for home insurance providers in the year ahead. Tech Review – Wanbo-X2 Max projector

I have several projectors at home and love them all and are one of my favourite pieces of tech to review and enjoy watching my content on. Wanbo have sent us their latest on offer which is the Wanbo-X2 Max projector packed with features, the spec sheet looks good but it is all down to how it comes across for your viewing that counts and we will be taking a close look at this model, one of several the company has on offer at affordable prices.

With this projector you can do many things with and feel more immersed with the bigger picture so to speak and not only that you get big sound which is great, some projectors dish out poor sound but not this one it is loud and punchy with some nice bass in there no distortion or lag latency either noted during testing.

The picture though is what people like to know about these projectors and the picture is good on this no matter what you may use it for, it can be used for gaming watching movies and much more and you can of course cast from your device and hook up your laptop and consoles to see things in all their glory.

The quality is decent even on a darker wall I tried out and came out good overall we have native 1080p present and 450 ANSI which gives a brighter video to watch unlike 720p would in a projector. Some say you would need over 1000 lumens or ANSI to get a better picture which is a fair comment it all depends on how good you want the quality to be but as you will see in the video review below 450 is plenty for simple home use.

This projector has an AI image engine and auto focus and 4 points keystone correction again often left out from previous ones I have review at this price and it works well here and perfect if you have no idea spot to place or mount the projector you can still get the picture square on a wall even if not place directly in front of it.

How big you want the picture also depends on you and the closer the better quality which is obvious but there is three noted focal lengths or screen sizes from 50 120 inches which is ideal and of course you need to try out the 120 inch, if you have a white background of projector screen you will get better results too but this can be projected onto blinds or a darker wall and the picture comes through and not seeing pixels from the desired distance.

Wanbo-X2 specs

The UI is simple to use and navigate and there is tonnes of preloaded apps there is some restrictions as always with projectors but you can get around these easily enough with the know how or just ask someone who does. The noise is also not too loud as some can be from projectors and is tolerable when in use and if you turn your volume up like you should there will be no fan noise to worry about. To top it off you can also use this as a general music player/speaker by simply connecting your device and it has decently loud 2X5W speakers and finally Dual Band 6 Wi-Fi as mentioned above so no lag latency seen during my use so far.

One small gripe for me is the power cable is a bit on the short side.

Tech Review – GeoSmartPro Smart Air Fryer

The GeoSmartPro Smart Air Fryer is the latest gadget to hit techbuzz and yes I am no cooking expert and can hardly fry an egg but I am aware of these Air Fryers and have one some years and use it quite often or should I say let someone else do the work for me but now that this has arrived I have taken a keen interest to get to do it all on my own because it has an app and makes life simple for me anyway.

So the product itself seems robust in comparison to my current relic in the house and has a bigger capacity you can see through it which the current one you cant, you can set timers and so on but need to keep checking to be safe so with this one out of the bat it is good to watch the food cook and you also have a shake reminder for the likes of chips and sausages etc.

You have plenty of presets at hand and can add your own which is handy so half the job is done for you and there is recipes available in the app which again makes life easy, you have two tray positions which my current one does not have which is another win and will tell you how old mine is and a fry basket handle.

With the 8 Presets you get Chicken Leg, Steak, Fish, Cake, Pizza, Sausage, Chips and Bacon so for me it covers my main staples of food. You can add other varieties of food such as frozen fries wedges chops hamburgers spring rolls, fish fingers, I love them, muffins and sweet snacks. You get instructions of weight and time and if you need to shake or not, you are basically a cook in a few mins..

The basket and tray are dishwasher proof and you should clean after each use which is something done on the old one anyway so it is also easy to maintain.

The App 

The App is simple to set up more so on Android than iOS in my finding as we always test apps on both versions where applicable and on my iPhone was a bit annoying but got there in the end. The control panel on the app is simple to read and well laid out which is perfect and the control panel on the Fryer itself is simple to use but you will find you will lean towards to the app rather than the panel but you can use the control panel if you wish to do so, but the app is there and that is what it is for

Overall this has been a bit of a game changer here for me with getting my food done for me in better ways and having an app made it easy with all the details given for me, like I said I am no food expert but after having my old Air Fryer that was never smart to having one that is makes life easy, I can cook my own meals, see it cooking and get reminded of things should I get from the comfort of my couch or office desk which in short is a win.
