First Look – Urbanista Phoenix solar powered earbuds

Just over year ago a pair of headphones was introduced that could charge by solar power and it grabbed people’s attention it must be said and some even snubbed the idea until they seen it first hand from me with the Urbanista Los Angeles headphones and still up till now I have not seen any mainstream headphone/earbud manufacturer come up with an alternative and the same thing has happened again after showing the new Urbanista Phoenix off.

Now Urbanista has brought the same powerfoyle technology to their earbuds which makes for a very interesting path forward with this technology and hopefully more will adopt it in the future.

Urbanista Phoenix is compatible with the Urbanista mobile companion app that puts you in complete control of your audio experience. The Urbanista app, available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store, gives you deep customisation options, including EQ controls to adjust the audio to meet your taste. The companion app also provides information on how to get the most out of the product’s playtime, including visual indications of solar charge levels and usage, and the option to customise the earphones controls and voice assistant.

Tuomas Lonka, Urbanista’s Brand and Marketing Director, comments: “It’s a privilege to continue on this path of innovation together with Exeger and use the latest in solar cell technology to bring ground-breaking audio products to market. Our Los Angeles self-charging headphones were so well received by customers and consumers alike, that we knew right away that we wanted to apply this futuristic way of consuming audio to a true wireless design. Urbanista Phoenix really is a market leading product, and we are excited to see how these shape the future of our listening experiences in years to come.”

Tech Review – Creative Zen Air earbuds

The Creative Zen Air earbuds are the latest on offer from the brand and pack more than expected for the price which is great for the consumer and this is now becoming a common trend in the the earbuds and headphones department and of course welcome news and we have been testing these for a while now and it is time to take a look and see what you get for your money.

First up these come in a neat case that comes with wireless charging not seen at this price and you get around 18 hours in total with the case which is decent considering their size, they fit well too giving a good seal leaving a great audio experience all round and you have access to the SXFI app to which changes the game here if you have not already experienced what this app can provide which we have discussed any times here.

The earbuds come with 10 mm Neodymium drivers, which packs a punch and we go through the app in the video review below and all the features on board and how to control the earbuds which is a simple process and they work really well as a whole and nothing complicated here. You do get ANC on board which is decent and of course for those who want to hear their surroundings you get ambient mode.

You also get Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and a certified IPX4 sweatproof rating here so these are for everyone be in the indoor person or sports and certainly those who commute on a daily basis, there is no sound leakage or lag latency either and make quite the pair of earbuds that are cost effective and certainly should be on your list if you are hunting for a new pair.

Creative Zen Air will support upcoming SXFI READY devices (e.g. smart TVs, PCs and mobile devices) that come built-in with the award-winning Super X-Fi Spatial Holography technology that allows users to enjoy SXFI Spatial Holography that recreates a multi-speaker system soundstage within the headphones. Users can download the SXFI App to preview this technology on local content on their phones.

Hands On – Skullcandy x SLYR gaming headset and Dime 2 Doritos edition #Skullcandy #Doritos

The latest new tech to drop into techbuzz is a collaboration between Skullcandy and Doritos edition which of course is limited and will start shipping next month and we have been lucky to get our hands on them early to check them out, this is not the first time Skullcandy have done a collaboration and we hope to see more down the road and cast your mind back to last October when they announced a collaboration with Capcom and check out our review of the Limited edition Street fighter headset.

Not much has changed here but the branding which is stansoutish to say the least which I like over the neutral colours we see everyday and with the collaboration it makes it that bit more special and of course been a limited run.

“Skullcandy and self-expression are synonymous and this drop is no different. Together with Doritos, we’re adding a little flavour to a space traditionally saturated with muted colourways, allowing gamers to stand out from the competition,” said Derek Steiner, Director of Global Brand Partnerships, Skullcandy. “The SLYR and Dime 2 are the ideal products for this collab, both accessible and packed with flavour so gamers can boldly be themselves. The duo provides the best of both worlds – SLYR for gaming at home and Dime 2 for on-the-go mobile sessions.”

If you want to know anymore ask as always and we will gladly answer you and we will test them out over the coming weeks given there is more aesthetics that has changed here we will test them out and check the full unboxing video below for all the details.  The limited-edition Skullcandy x Doritos are available now for purchase exclusively on Skullcandy.com and will ship mid-February. First Look – Creative Zen Air wireless earbuds

Creative recently announced their newest earbuds to the world called the Zen Air wireless earbuds and these look impressive for the price your pay with all the features given and access to their app which is not seen often at this price point which only mirrors what I have been saying for some time now with the cost to performance ratio, but how will these sound is what the big question will be so stick around for a full hands on review soon as usual. These are small and light and come in a glossy white case on our review unit and come with ANC and wireless charging so out of the box they tick all the boxes for me and we look forward to testing these out.

Today we take a first look at the new earbuds and as always if you have any questions drop them in the usual places and we will have the answers and we will have our full review soon.

Tune Out the World

Creative Zen Air offers users a better listening experience with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that can help filter out unwanted background noises so users can stay focused – be it at the office during an important conference call or listening to their favorite beats on the go without any interruptions.

With a simple tap of the earbuds, users can easily switch to the Ambient Mode to let just the right amount of surrounding sound in, which works perfectly when running errands or while hiking on a busy trail.

Small but Mighty

The Creative Zen Air weighs next to nothing at merely 46g, but it can deliver a hefty audio punch with 10 mm Neodymium drivers that boast clear high and well-balanced mids to produce high-quality audio performance that greatly exceeds its price point.

It is also fitted with 4 microphones that offer better voice pick-up to ensure clearer communication so users can experience hassle-free and uninterrupted calls anytime, anywhere.

On top of that, the latest true wireless earbuds can offer up to 18 hours of battery life with up to 6 hours of playtime on a single charge to meet the user’s every audio need – whether for commuting, exercising or just out for a short errand. Tech Review – DC Comics Superman TWS Wireless Earphones

Superhero branded products always catches peoples eyes and it is not the first time we have tested such here and there is more to come on that front but today we have the OTL technologies Superman themed earbuds and whilst they look good the sound is an important factor to take into account and with the really cheap price point they come in at how do they sound is what people will want to know and we have been testing these for a bit now and it is time to talk about them.

They come well presented in a simple superman themed box and with some extra tips and a USB-C cable to get you going and the case is plastic with a glossy finish but free from attracting fingerprints the overall case does feel light and cheap but remember the price here.

The earbuds design is fine with me and average and they fit really well and snug and will not all out of your ears, these for me are more so aimed at kids but this does not mean anyone else can use them. There is decent isolation of the outside world once fitted with the right tips and you are good to go.

There is no app here which is acceptable for me and again I do think these are aimed at a younger generation and it also keeps the cost down, there is no wireless charging on the case either. Battery life is decent enough and without having ANC and other features that demand some power and 6 hours is acceptable at this price, in my testing around 5hr 30 mins was more accurate.

So with the lack on an App and EQ settings how do they sound and what controls have we got. You can skip and reverse, play/pause a track, answer/reject phone calls or activate voice assistant and there is also volume control. So it is a simple affair and simple to use.

Overall the sound was on the deep side with bass and doable but for a child or teenager they are fine there was no distortion at max volume and do a decent all round job, you might want a third part EQ to try get a better balance for your if you are an older person but for kids these are fine, anyone that is older perhaps expecting more out them when it comes to customising may look elsewhere.
