The Blackberry KeyOne black edition and Motion now available from John Lewis. #BlackBerry

Irish retailers and networks have shunned blackberry for some years now and whilst like Windows Phone seen a huge dip in shares BlackBerry fell the same way but they now have Android devices and they are still left out for those who want them, the same also applies to LG which of late have made great phones.

Be it ignorance from the networks or the manufacturers themselves this is something that can be addressed by making it happen or like in many instances with tech in Ireland we have to resort to importing the goods. This is can work in to our benefit at times with cost but overall it’s a channel most would prefer not to use and walk into a store and just buy the dam things there and then and also get a look at them.

now though John Lewis have them in stock and also Argos do in the UK, Even Argos here have ignored the TCL made devices which is unusual considering they sell LG devices and others not available on our networks. John Lewis is a reputable retailer in the UK and I have purchased several things from them so check them out if you are interested and use Parcel Motel to get it delivered. The older Blackberry KeyOne is also available to purchase which is really a nice phone but can be got cheaper elsewhere than its current advertised listing.

Blackberry to no longer make handsets, Its not dead. #Blackberry

Blackberry today have announced they are no longer making handsets.. Sad news for some but it was a long time coming due to their decline in handset sales it was only a matter of time.. Instead they will outsource the handset business which makes sense and something other players in the market have done.. Blackberry just like Nokia once reigned supreme in the mobile industry and they are names nobody will forget..  The Blackberry Priv which was their first in-house android handset sales did not go as expected but indeed it is certainly a nice mobile phone but its price was its downfall if im honest. Having said that Blackberry remains committed to investing in and growing the Mobility Solutions business…

John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO says…

“We are reaching an inflection point with our strategy. Our financial foundation is strong, and our pivot to software is taking hold,”

“In Q2, we more than doubled our software revenue year over year and delivered the highest gross margin in the company’s history. We also completed initial shipments of BlackBerry Radar, an end-to end asset tracking system, and signed a strategic licensing agreement to drive global growth in our BBM consumer business.” “Our new Mobility Solutions strategy is showing signs of momentum, including our first major device software licensing agreement with a telecom joint venture in Indonesia. Under this strategy, we are focusing on software development, including security and applications.

The company plans to end all internal hardware development and will outsource that function to partners. This allows us to reduce capital requirements and enhance return on invested capital,” continued Chen. “We remain on track to deliver 30 percent revenue growth in software and services for the full fiscal year. We are revising upward our non-GAAP EPS outlook to a range of breakeven to a five cent loss, compared to the current consensus of a 15 cent loss. This reflects increased confidence based on improving margins and reduced interest expense from the recent refinancing of our debt, as well as planned investments in growth areas.”

After a $372 million quarterly loss, the Canadian tech firm said it will outsource all hardware development to focus on software. But how will devices look in the future?? Well that is a matter of time for us all to find out…Their last few devices where pretty good with the quirky design of the passport and their first Android the Blackberry Priv even the Classic and Leap where pretty good for average users and worthy devices but price seemed to be an issue alongside the dying OS..

Blackberry is killing it Classic #Blackberry #Classic #Tech

Blackberry have been having it rough of late, even with sales of the PRIV their first Android device sales have not been great by any means,The PRIV is a unique device and stands out in the crowd with that hidden keyboard underneath its screen when I even showed people they where impressed. With new Android handsets set to come on board soon their direction is clear because they have announced they are to discontinue the Blackberry classic which is another device I own along with the Silver Passport and PRIV..

On their Blog where I have been featured before Ralph Pini writes

Sometimes it can be very tough to let go. For BlackBerry, and more importantly for our customers, the hardest part in letting go is accepting that change makes way for new and better experiences.

These are the tenets that help keep us focused and the reasons why we are committed to the success of both BlackBerry 10 and Android devices. To keep innovating and advancing our portfolio, we are updating our smartphone lineup with state of the art devices. As part of this, and after many successful years in the market, we will no longer manufacture BlackBerry Classic. For many years, Classic (and its BBOS predecessors) has been in our portfolio. It has been an incredible workhorse device for customers, exceeding all expectations. But, the Classic has long surpassed the average lifespan for a smartphone in today’s market. We are ready for this change so we can give our customers something better – entrenched in our legacy in security and pedigree in making the most productive smartphones.

More sad news for some die hard fans I guess.

The T-Mobile Blackberry #PRIV finally gets #Android #Marshmallow.

Users of the BB PRIV on T-Mobile have been waiting for the official update since it was announced, but for one reason or other was delayed.

They were able to get it as beta through the Beta program Blackberry itself offered, but now is official but all those who didn’t want the struggle of “bug full” releases.

In case you missed it, we did a full review HERE were you can find all the benefits of the update.

But everything will be there, from DOZE to improve your battery life to the granular app permission that will boost the DTEK service.

Also unlike other manufactures, Blackberry did include to “Adatable Storage” on this update, so you can use an SD card to add more “onboard” memory.

Remember that the phone needs to be charge at least 60% (but I strongly recommend you to have it at 100%) and as this is an OTA update you’ll need to check every now and then to see if is available to your particular device.

Do you have the update already? Are you exited about it? Let us know in the comment section below or Tweet us to join the conversation.

Use 1 number across all your devices with AT&T #NumberSync By @VicenteA_George #AT&T #Carrier

One usual complaint from people who own more than one mobile device is that normally they need to carry two cell phone numbers.

Something that all of us dream in the ability to have the same number across multiple device’s , why? Well, maybe we use a Samsung for work because of the OS but we prefer to shoot photos with our Lumia phones for example.

Now that could actually be possible thanks to the folks at AT&T and their new feature NumberSync a new service that aims to share ONE Phone Number and Data Plan across all your mobile devices.

Using their wireless network alongside the pre-existing methods for sharing data plans across devices, AT&T will enable you “basic phone” functions to all your other accessories like tablets or 2-in-1‘s

And it doesn’t need to be connected through Bluetooth or anything you don’t even need to carry your phone, (it doesn’t even have to be turned on!!)

This feature is not manufacturer nor OS restricted they only need to “enable” this ability on the devices in order to work.

Something that happens a lot is forgetting our phones everywhere, now imagine you’re running out of home with your bag and in the middle of the road realize you left your phone out and you need to do and important call, this feature will let you use your tablet (assuming you have one on your bag) to make the call and even send and received messages. Cool isn’t it?

In case you’re wondering about prices, NumberSync will be completely free (the feature, you’ll need to pay you mobile plan).

According to AT&T the first compatible device will be available “Soon” with more coming over the holidays season. They plan to make this feature “the norm” to future connected devices.

What do you think of this? Do you like the idea of using your same phone number on all your gadgets?
