Snapchat to charge for replays and gets new features. #SnapChat

Popular app Snapchat is to now charge users for replaying chats, but you get three plays for this,it will cost $0.99 which will most likely annoy lots of users, don’t use it much myself but there is a way around it.Currently you are allowed ONE replay as it stands.. IAPs will now cost between  €1.11 – €5.57 per item.

Snapchat today said on their blog..

Today, U.S. Snapchatters can purchase extra Replays, starting at 3 for $0.99. You can use a Replay on any Snap you receive, but you can only Replay any Snap once. They’re a little pricey — but time is money! 😉

Also they have added some features to the app is lenses which will allow you to add special effects which will be updated daily, you tap and hold the screen and follow the instructions to add desired effects.also added to app was trophies which unlocks them based on your own achievement’s.

There is several apps actually allow you to record snapchats and the user does not even know, same goes for taking screenshots too,if you want to download them you can Google them and you will be led to APK sites but be careful.

To date snapchat have not introduced a windows phone app and it does not look like there will be one soon either.

One Plus teaser was a leather case after all. #OnePlus

One Plus sent out a teaser the other day and off the cuff most got it right, well to an extent, its not a case that snaps on though, not only that its not cheap either costing €99.99 and is available now, however expensive is not always a bad thing as some do like to fork out on a special case for the mobile. The case comes on one colour.

The case is Genuine Tuscan leather, 100% wool felt.

Hard Graft have brought their Tuscan leather expertise to the exclusive Wild Phone Case for OnePlus 2. Subtle Italian craftsmanship is brought to life with their signature ash grey washed and traditionally tanned leather. For those who prefer to let the true design of their device come out to play, and stylishly protect it when it needs it.

The case holds about 4 cards and is fingerprint free according to the site and is made from premium materials and its a soft leather with two pockets

So that is just about it really, what do you think..I think fans will be rather disappointed.

Microsoft sets the date for new devices. October 6th. #Microsoft

All eyes will be on Microsoft this October as they have begun sending out press invites, new hardware is what to expect such as the Surface 4 and some new handsets which are long overdue and hopefully the handsets will be available really soon and not follow typical trends being US bound or lottery rollouts. They need to get these devices into the hands quick as its been a long time now since the last flagship and many have shifted to other platforms due to the inconsistency and outdated specs and again apps, this is an argument for another day and the hope now is universal apps will save the day, with market share slipping and not many new OEMs jumping on Windows they face an uphill battle with Android and iOS..

The event will take place in New York and expected devices such as the 950/950 XL  and the new Microsoft Band will be unveiled at the bash, recently we have seen leaked renders of the handsets which will be interesting to see how close they par up but something tells me they won’t. They will be different sizes to begin with.

Microsoft will also be live streaming the event too which is good news,So the date has been set and the world will be watching….

Royal College of Surgeons launch new health app with real info. #Apps #Health

Google is your friend when searching for problems but it can be also be your enemy whilst searching for information concerning health and in some cases it can be fatal but with the technology available today we are starting to see more and more in – house apps from real practitioners something similar to an app we featured a while ago called Touch Surgery

The Royal College of Surgeons have released a new app though which gives information on certain issues and will hopefully prevent people from using search engines as a source of info which can be mixed across the board.Self diagnosing is not wise but we have all done myself included so there is no denying that it is something there for people to do and even if its just out of curiosity or perhaps searching on someone else’s behalf…

On opening the app you are presented with 4 icons as pictured above and you can then set up your own profile which is non intrusive on information,In the search option you will be presented with an alphabetical list and then you can open the desired selection and get information. There is also some news categories to chose from too if you want to keep up to speed on the latest info at hand on health etc. So far on testing the app its quite smooth and responsive and its an excellent job and idea and would like to see more like it..

There is also a feature to store your own health information such as blood type, weight, height and to calculate your BMI. The app also includes a very useful feature that lists all the hospitals in Ireland and contact information for each hospital as well as emergency services information.

Sony scales back on its waterproof policy. #Sony #Mobile #Waterproof

Sony has numerous devices touting good IP ratings and of course dust ratings but when water does get in this is a problem for users under warranty and devices not being repaired so we can now see the true meaning of waterproof devices, they are not, simple as,flaps not closed correctly, ports, earpiece, mic and so on, water will get in somewhere and even though devices have a rating this depends on how long the device has been submerged,In short I personally would not use a device underwater or in a shower as I do not buy this splash-proof/waterproof jargon. This notice will apply to the Z3+ and the upcoming Z5 ,Accidents do happen I might add and perhaps Sony should allow more leeway..

Some of Sonys statements below..

Your device has an IP rating. This means that under a strictly controlled laboratory environment, the hardware works as designed even after being exposed to specific conditions.

Sony devices that are tested for their waterproof abilities are placed gently inside a container filled with tap water and lowered to a depth of 1.5 metres. After 30 minutes in the container, the device is gently taken out and its functions and features are tested.

If you’re at the dinner table and accidentally spill water all over your device, you don’t have to worry. Just allow the device to dry out completely.

Caught in the rain while waiting at the bus stop? Not a problem. Your Xperia device can handle raindrops falling on your head, as well as your screen.

Do you spend time relaxing at the tub after a hard day at work? Watch a movie on your Xperia device. Just make sure you don’t submerge your device in bath water and you wash off those soap suds when you’re done.

Other ways to use your device

  • When your fingers are wet.
  • In dusty environments, such as a windy beach or when hiking along a dusty trail. Just make sure you wash off all the dust on your device using water from the tap afterwards.
  • Taking photos and movies in wet surroundings. Remember not to use the device underwater. If you accidentally get the device wet with non-fresh water, wash the device with tap water.

Head over to Sony for the full deets.
