Cool accessories to Safeguard your One Plus Phones. #OnePlus #Accessories #Mobile

Barry Walshe is the owner of  screenshelf.ie  along with top-quality mobile parts and accessories, they provide an outstanding customer support. It has been Barry’s passion to make sure that customers get the best accessories and parts for their Smartphones and iPhones. Today he talks to us about One Plus devices and how they can be kept in top shape.

Whether you have the One Plus One or One Plus 3 smartphone, you are probably wary of any kind of scratch or damage that it might get, not with standing its relatively cheap price. One downside of these phones is that they are metallic and have a unibody, meaning they are more likely to slip from your grasp. Of course, for any smartphone owner, this would definitely be nothing short of disastrous (screens that become cracked and bodies that end up getting scratched are but the most common scenarios). It’s for this reason why we have taken the liberty to

Protective Cases

Without a doubt, if you’re a consumer who bought a One Plus One phone, your basic instinct is to buy the accessory directly from the maker, right? After all, who would know what’s best for these smartphones better than them? What’s good is that we can vouch for One Plus One official protective cases. They offer a variety of colors, a flexible shell, and it’s sturdy and thick enough to prevent scratches and damages from minor falls.

There are variations of protective cases that you should consider as well One of these is a TPU case, which is best for users who want the natural look of their phone to stand out There are plenty of choices for One Plus 3 smartphones that fit these kinds of cases, and what’s good is that they are often thin, lightweight, and the necessary grip for better handling, besides providing protection, of course.

For people who don’t mind cases that make their One Plus One phones appear thicker or chunkier for added protection, then they should definitely consider ElBolt’s Aegis Case or the Poetic Revolution Case. The former has a look that is similar to tire tracks and is pretty heavy-duty when it comes to protection because of its hard polycarbonate shell and TPU interior; it comes with a bonus screen protector too. The latter has the same increased capability to safeguard your phone, but with completely different aesthetics. These are but some of the excellent protective cases you can get for your One Plus phone.

If you’re a lover of leather, though, then you should definitely give the OnePlus 3 Flip Cover a closer look as well as the Olixar Leather-look Wallet and Stand Case. The latter, besides being made of genuine leather that adds lots of protection from scratches, also covers your phone’s screen entirely; it also has the ability to serve as a stand for you to conveniently prop your phone anywhere you like. The former, on the other hand, leans more towards being stylish (thanks to its exquisite PU leather finish) and practical at the same time, since it can function as a wallet too.

Glass Covers

One Plus One accessories that center on protection are not limited to cases as well For one, if you only want to prevent scratches from being formed on your screen, then you can opt for a tempered glass protector for it instead. The Asmart Tempered Glass Screen Protector is one brand that is worth recommending for it can be seamless added to any One Plus 3 phone and prevents any unsightly bubbles from forming on the screen. This is all thanks to its tempered glass technology. It not only protects but smoothly integrates itself into your phone as well Another brand that’s worth looking into is the APLUS Tempered Glass Screen Protector, which has practically similar perks. A glass cover, with its comparative minimalism, greatly retains the form and design of the phone as well.

Car Mounts

If you’re always on the go and want to ensure that your phone won’t any way be placed in any precarious position inside your vehicle, then you may want to consider getting a car mount for it. Most of these mounts are magnetic, which pretty much ensures that your phone would stay in place as you travel. This makes it perfect for safely using One Plus phones to play music or while you are trying to navigate through traffic or areas you’re unfamiliar with. The TechMatte MagGrip Air Vent Car Mount is one brand that exemplifies all the qualities said above.

Make Safe & Sensible Use of Your Satnav – Infographic. #Satnav #Motoring #GPS

Neil Tohill is the Director of an Irish company called Southside Motor Factors. He regularly writes about the motoring industry and has created this infographic about best practice for using a satnav/GPS navigation device while driving. We have some more satnav reviews to come and another thing to keep in mind is dashcams as we have said before,we have some of them to come too very soon, Check out the infographic below and tell us what you think…

Satnavs can undoubtedly be massively helpful driving aids, especially for those who spend a lot of time on the road and frequently drive in unfamiliar territories. However, many drivers have a tendency to trust in their satnav too much. More than 1 in 10 drivers under the age of 24 have narrowly avoided a crash because of a distraction from their satnav, for example, while there have been horror stories of drivers being drastically misrouted because they failed to check that the destination they typed into their satnav was the correct one.

Are VPN connections only useful to bypass geo-blocks? By @IPAddressGuide #VPN

Guest Post by Thomas Stein.   Are VPN connections only useful to bypass geo-blocks??

I first heard about VPN services and VPN connections back in 2012. It was Summer Olympics in London and I wanted to watch the Hungarians win their gold medals on Hungarian TV online.

Unfortunately I lived outside Hungary at that moment and could not access the Hungarian TV station to watch their live streams from the Summer Olympics. It wasn’t an error with the feed, it was simply a so called geo-block (geographical block) causing the problem. As I visited the website of the Hungarian TV station they checked my IP address. Discovering that I was located outside Hungary they gave me an error message telling me that this stream was unavailable for me.

Luckily my brain quickly understood that there was a way to bypass this geo-block, by getting myself an IP address in Hungary. I quickly found out that a VPN connection was the solution for me, and thus I got myself a VPN subscription and got myself a Hungarian IP address. A few minutes later I was watching Hungarian TV online from outside Hungary.

That was four years ago and I still have my VPN subscription. But, is a VPN only useful for those in need of bypassing geo-blocks?

Is a VPN only useful for those in need of bypassing geo-blocks?

There is little doubt about the fact that a high percentage of the users signing up for VPN services do it for this purpose. But, there are those who actually use their VPN subscription for much more than just streaming content online (which would normally be unavailable). Here I will give you some of the main reasons for using a VPN besides bypassing geo-blocks.

Some of the most important arguments used by VPN users for using a VPN

  • A VPN connection will encrypt your online activity. There are different levels of encryption used depending on which VPN protocol you use, but any VPN encryption method is way better than no encryption. This will make it way harder for any intruder to get hold of your confidential information.
  • If your VPN provider has a no-log policy any movement you do online will be untraceable back to you. People who check your IP address to do you any harm will not get your actual IP address, but only see the IP address provided to you by your VPN provider.
  • With a VPN subscription you can get access to cheaper flight tickets and similar products. Lots of airlines give users different prices depending on their location. Use your VPN to get an IP address in another nation and do a search on the airfares again. If you are lucky you can save lots of dollars on airfares and lots of similar services.
  • Almost all Torrent sites advise their users to use a VPN. As more and more Torrent sites are observed and downloads discovered by local ISP’s (and reported), using a VPN can keep your tracks covered and let you download content safely online.
  • It is crucial to encrypt your movements online in this world packed with free WiFi Hotspots using unencrypted networks.
  • VPN applications often come with extra functions such as DDoS protection and built-in firewalls to keep you safe online.
  • Some ISP’s set a limit to your streaming speeds. When you visit certain domains they limit your download speed. Using a VPN will let you bypass such streaming speed regulations.

As you will see from this list a VPN is about much more than only bypassing geo-blocks. Do you have any other reason for using a VPN? I would love to have you write even more reasons to use a VPN.

Ireland rides new wave of ‘tech-nostalgia’ as Bush reveals 69% of Irish people are re-discovering retro audio products

Nearly seven in ten Irish adults find retro audio devices the most appealing way to consume music, powering one third of consumer technology spend
 Almost half of us view making mixtapes as one of our favourite childhood memories
 Over a third of us still make mixtapes now with digital playlists accounting for a third of total music listening time*

While the evolution of hi spec technology continues, Technology brand Bush has revealed that Ireland’s affection for classic audio still reigns supreme, with nearly seven in ten Irish adults finding retro style audio technology to be most appealing to them. More of us are feeling nostalgic about the way we play music, and technology we play it on, including record players, cassette machines and boom boxes.
The 21st century vinyl revival has been well documented in recent years, with combined sales of physical and digital sales steadily decreasing since 2005 as total vinyl album sales skyrocket – from 857,000 copies in 2005 to more than 9 million copies in 2014..

Technology brand Bush, spoke to over 500 Irish adults to understand how Irish people’s spending habits for audio technology products have, or indeed haven’t, changed over the years with the revival of retro technology.

Moreover, Bush has found that the more the ‘tech-volution’ moves on, the more we indulge in the beauty of the process of listening to music in the ‘old school’ way. Almost half (45%) of us call out making mixtapes as one of our favourite memories. And it appears that the love of the process continues, with over a third (32%) of us continuing to make our own mixtapes today. The process of music compilation doesn’t just stop with cassette players either – it’s run into the way we consume music using even the highest spec technology, with playlists on music apps such as Spotify accounting for a third of the total listening time across all demographics.

Andrea Derrick, Bush Brand Controller, commented: “Bush was founded in 1932 and has been much loved by generations of music lovers. Today the Bush range includes more cutting edge technology – from flat screen TVs to sound bars – but classic audio still sits at the heart of what we offer and it’s clear from our research that Irish music lovers are continuing to look for a wider range of retro options over and above our best-selling vinyl players.”

While cassettes and players are the current retro audio zeitgeist, the popularity of other vintage equipment such as speakers, receivers, boom boxes and hi-fis signals the enduring allure of retro audio for music lovers, which continues to be demonstrated in popular culture.

Most recently, singer-songwriter Bon Iver created global hype for his third studio album by playing the entirety of the new record for the first time from 11 small boom boxes, each placed in different locations across the globe and played at the exact same time. The boom boxes were installed with instructions to ‘flip over to Side B’ when the music stopped.

Other pop culture icons are also favouring the retro approach, including rap superstar Drake, who has released five mixtape compilations to date alongside his other typical single and album releases and Chance The Rapper, whose three albums have all famously been mixtapes. This year Eminem honoured the release of his seminal The Marshall Mathers LP with a cassette re-release of the iconic album amongst other collectibles.

Matt Mason, Editor of Q Magazine, commented: “Mixtapes being released by artists today don’t really bear much relation to the mixtape we used to make. Increasingly they’re full of original material by the artists who are putting them out. One of the biggest of recent month’s, Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, was completely new material by Drake himself. Artist-curated or artist-inspired playlists can be fascinating and extremely useful for the music fan by providing genuine insight into their favourite artist’s tastes and influences as well as introducing them to bands and acts they’ve not heard before, aiding their own musical discoveries.

“Digital media has made discovering and listening to music a lot easier but I think some people still love the rituals of playing vinyl and tapes, having a tangible product to hold and sleeve art to pore over. It’s not just nostalgia – some artists even like recording onto vinyl or tape, believing it gives their music a unique warmth. What’s crucial is that retro audio can work in tandem with new audio: you can compile and perfect your mixtape on digital media before burning it onto a cassette or CD. The end result is the same but the process has been made much easier by new technology.”

With mixtapes and retro audio leading the way in how Ireland consumes music, Bush offers a range of retro options to suit the modern day consumer, including: Bush Classic Turntable, Bush Classic Retro DAB Radio and Bush Wooden DAB radio.

The STM prime 13″ laptop backpack review. #TravelWithTech #Bags #STM

Travelling is a nuisance especially when going away for a few days and you  need to take good stock of what your needs are and ensure you have enough supplies be it with clothes and food. For me though the most important requirements are my tech needs. I carry alot of tech and perhaps too much but for attending events and doing presentations  and with work, I do need something to put it in and something that is sufficient not cumbersome and can carry everything in one unit..

Mostly I do use a shoulder bag but it  does not cut it when it comes to spaces to store things in order as with a laptop bag depending on the type you are limited with compartment space especially for all the little bits and pieces like USB keys and cables etc.. I have been trying out this bag from  STM bags for the last few days and given it is a smaller bag for my needs it packs quite alot into it with plenty of pockets and compartments it would be ideal for someone who carries a limited amount of tech with them..

STM’s cushioned back panel design features 3D foam cores with soft mesh and a central air channel to provide extra ventilation and comfort where you need it most.

First thing to notice it it has good padding which is important should you drop the bag or have a habit of just slinging the bag down, something I must admit I do at times and forgetting the expensive cargo on board but the accident can happen when you drop it,it happens to us all….Padding all round and corners included this is quite good and with extra padding on the back with a hardened wall if you will ensure the the back does protect the equipment you might have inside,Given this bag is rather on the small size for me I was limited as to what I can carry ,but it still takes quite a bit, especially the small bits n bobs…

  • Water resistant fabric for years of durable transport
  • Front overflow pocket for quick, easy access to travel docs, reading materials, etc.
  • Stretch side pockets for a water bottle or umbrella
  • Contoured main zipper allows easy access and storage of your digital and daily essentials
  • Dedicated internal pocket for cables, chargers and accessories
  • External quick access fleece lined pocket for sunglasses or phone
  • Elastic power pocket for stowing your laptop’s charging bricks and cords

There is plenty of compartments on this bag which for me is vital,I can store cables, pens, charging devices USB cables devices and more and I know exactly where they are when needed so bag makers, compartments are a requirement but not too many.. Again externally this bag hosts more compartments which can either hold drinks bottles or cans and perhaps magazines and papers or similar too with a compartment with no pocket they just slip in which is good. Three zips also available a the front which can be all tied together if you will for some extra safety for me its a must because pickpockets lurk and with the three zippers locked together I know im ok and would feel anyone making an attempt to gain access. As mentioned in video the front compartments are always kept free or with magazines, the non valuable items…

IMAGE GALLERY

Overall this bag would suit anyone to be honest and perhaps just the right size,Preferably I like the shoulder bag type but would not let that discourage me due to its build quality, comfort and protection level. It is robust tough and with the sling tech built in you can drop it safely knowing the goods will be protected inside, something which I have done on a few occasions is just drop my bag and end up with damaged goods unfortunately.. The bag is not cheap but considered the goods carried which would vary per person for me its a worthy spend due to what its intended purpose is for, This bag comes in several colours –  Black – Frost Grey – Steel and Moroccan Blue so there is a choice there to pick from, the bag will cost you $79.95 and you can see the full range over at STM

Check out the video below and you have any questions fire away in the comments or get us on social media @techbuzzireland and we have a brand new FACEBOOK PAGE … Come check  us out there..

Note, contents may vary depending on the situation at hand this is selection of goods that I personally use and different combinations of goods with similar capacity are at hand. Goods chosen for this review are a random section. .
