Nike go into the phone case business with iPhone cases.#Nike #iPhone #Cases

Fancy the sole of your Nike shoe on your mobile phone, Well its about to happen..

I am a huge Nike fan even though of late their prices for their retro trainers are double what the command price was when the OG versions where around and I in fact own a pretty unique collection of trainers myself which are very noteworthy also including the all new vapormax. (See below sample of collection) But what has this to do with tech, well there is tech invovled in some trainers but they have gone into the phone case business and these two combined has my attention.. But for now they are just for the god dam iPhone and again something the Americans like to do is USA ONLY which for me is stupid.Would remind you of Microsoft in more ways than one.

So why has this got me interested? I like my tech,my trainers and my phones, what I dont like is how they have launched the idea,Ok Perhaps its testing the water but limited availability and one phone…Come on.. Nike you could be onto something here.. In fact you are….

The cases do not come cheap but then again they fall on an average price range offering just about enough but you are paying for the brand and the sole of a shoe to slap on your mobile phone, Trainer fans will love this be it something you might not keep on your phone all day but it is something different and its a cool idea and perhaps we could see this now expand from other shoe manufacturers. One thing I would suggest is that Nike open their eyes some more and spread the range…

See them over HERE What do you think then……Tell us..

Business membership organisation, Guaranteed Irish is calling on individuals and businesses across Ireland to nominate their ‘Science Hero’ as part of the Guaranteed Irish ‘Hero’ Awards, which recognise the work of people who have been ambassadors for Ireland both at home and abroad.

Members of the public are invited to nominate their science hero by using #GIhero on Twitter or emailing info@guaranteedirish.ie before the deadline of Friday, 9th June 2017. Artist, Maser and Captain of Irish Women’s Rugby team, Niamh Briggs were the first awardees for the contributions to art and sport, respectively.

Announcing the call for the Guaranteed Irish Science Hero, Brid O’Connell said: “Ireland is ranked tenth globally for our scientific research quality. Here at Guaranteed Irish we believe it is time to champion Irish contributions to science – and what better way to do that than to nominate a Guaranteed Irish Science Hero?

“Following last month’s March for Science, where thousands of scientists and science supporters took to the streets in over 600 cities across the world, this award is a terrific way to commend someone who you consider to be Ireland’s Science Hero.” continued Brid O’Connell.

“We want all businesses and individuals to get involved and put forward names of anyone who has demonstrated a real commitment to creating a better Ireland with science through: jobs, community and provenance. If you know someone who fits that bill, then we want to hear from you.” concluded Brid O’Connell.

The remaining Guaranteed Irish Heroes for: music, technology and food will be awarded throughout 2017, following the public nominations process. An outside panel of experts in each field review a shortlist and decide the Guaranteed Irish Hero for that category.

To get involved and to nominate your Guaranteed Irish Hero, simply email info@guaranteedirish.ie  with your nomination or you can nominate and follow the campaign across social media with the dedicated hashtag: #GIhero.

Black Duck Hub Open Source Security and Management Solution Integrated with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

Black Duck Hub Open Source Security and Management Solution Integrated with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

Automates identification of open source components and related security-vulnerability risks in container images without slowing the pace of development..

Black Duck, the global leader in automated solutions for securing and managing open source, today announced the integration of its Hub solution with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, the industry’s most comprehensive enterprise Kubernetes platform for traditional and cloud-native applications.

The Hub integration allows Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform users to automatically inventory all the open source components in a container image, identify known open source vulnerabilities and license-compliance obligations, and continuously monitor the inventory for new open source vulnerability disclosures.

“Innovative container technology is a breakthrough for development speed and agility, but persistent concerns about security have been barriers to container adoption in the enterprise,” said Black Duck CEO Lou Shipley.

“Integrating Hub with the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform helps allay those security concerns. Open source components comprise 80% to 90% of the software in containers and having Hub’s automated visibility into the open source components in containers, as well as any associated security and license risks will increase confidence levels,” said Shipley.

Black Duck is previewing the integration at this week’s Red Hat Summit which opened today in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Black Duck said it expects the integration will be generally available next month.

“The push towards digital transformation requires that many organisations evolve into software companies, with this software frequently taking the form of cloud-native, containerised applications. Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform delivers the industry’s most comprehensive Kubernetes-based platform to build and deploy these innovations, while our integration with Black Duck Hub enables enterprises to bring to bear one of the most powerful Linux container scanners on the market today, pairing open innovation with greater container security,” said Ashesh Badani, vice president and general manager, OpenShift, Red Hat.

Black Duck said that implementing a container security strategy requires an understanding of the risks inherent in building, deploying and scaling of containerised solutions. Defining open source risk-management policies from the development phase through deployment are vital in preventing open source security, licensing, and operational issues from becoming deployment problems.

Black Duck said its Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform integration is designed to include comprehensive container inspection on both the operating system and open source components in the early phases of container construction to deliver greater security, licensing, and operational risk visibility.

Additionally, continuous scanning and monitoring of open source in the containerised applications delivered across the container application platform can enable a proactive response to open source vulnerability disclosures.

Regardless of image source, build model or deployment state, scanned images provide a clear view of the risk state for the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform cluster.

Big Data In Practice: From Buzz Word To Business Benefits. #BigData #Business

Companies who use big data seem to follow one common mantra – knowledge is power. Businesses collate so much information that it can be very time-consuming to make sense of it all manually. That’s where the use of big data practices is so invaluable. The concept takes huge packets of information, studies it in an attempt to establish discernible patterns and conjugates key trends that decision makers can use for the future direction of the business.

A study of businesses using big data showed that the most oft-cited benefit of its implementation is the ability to make better strategic decisions owing from the neat presentation of vital information. Some leading business thinkers argue that companies resisting the use of big data are selling themselves short and leaving themselves inadequately equipped to make crucial business decisions.

Despite its clear benefits and widespread implementation, there remains a significant number of businesses not wanting to adopt big data practices. Some feel that they don’t have the requisite budget or know-how to implement it, or perhaps they feel that big data cannot guarantee the safeguarding of confidential business information.

This infographic from Colourfast (http://www.colourfast.com/) delves further into the primary reasons for and benefits of adopting big data practices, with some helpful advice on how to make the most of the concept. With 40% of companies worldwide already big data converts, we can expect that figure to grow even more in the months ahead.

#Airbus – Global Deans and UNESCO join forces for more diversity in engineering

Call for entries opens for the 2017 “Airbus Diversity Award

Airbus, the leading aircraft manufacturer, and the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC), have launched the call for nominations for the 2017 edition of the “Airbus Diversity Award”. This award aims to shine a light on successful projects which have encouraged more young people of all profiles and backgrounds to study and succeed in engineering. The award was developed and funded by Airbus in partnership with the GEDC, the leading international organisation leaders of schools and colleges of engineering. For this fifth anniversary edition, the award will be placed under UNESCO patronage.

The long term goal is to increase diversity among the global community of engineers so that the engineering industry reflects the diversity of the communities it supports, with diversity recognised as a driver for innovation and growth.

“At Airbus we know that a diverse and inclusive culture is an asset”, said Jean Brice Dumont, Executive Vice President Engineering Airbus Helicopters and patron of the award. “It boosts the innovative mind-set that underpins the vast technological advances happening in aviation and aerospace today. We are committed to developing the next generation of engineering talent and are proud to partner with UNESCO and engineering schools around the world to achieve that.”

“We need more young people from every background and of every profile to acquire the skills the world needs to solve our greatest global challenges, as well as realise the potential of new opportunities”, said Flavia Schlegel, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences. “So I am excited to bring UNESCO’s support to this valuable partnership”.

Last November, the Airbus Diversity Award went to Dr Yacob Astatke, from Morgan State University in the USA, for his impressive introduction of technology and training initiatives across universities in Ethiopia to improve the delivery of engineering education in Africa.

“In 2017 we invite everyone working to improve diversity in engineering education around the world to put their successful projects forward, to share their good ideas and innovative approaches and to inspire others to do more on this critical issue”, said Peter Kilpatrick, McCloskey Dean of Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, USA, and GEDC Chair.

Entries for this new award will close on 10th July with the winning project to be announced at the GEDC Annual Conference in Niagara Falls, Canada in October 2017. Entries can be made online by any individual or team working with or in an engineering college/faculty, whose project has demonstrated tangible results in bringing more diversity among engineering students and/or graduates.

How technology is effective with In Store Marketing – What You Need To Know #Marketing #technology

Appealing to the modern consumer can be difficult. Consumers are becoming more and more demanding and they expect a certain standard when it comes to the shopping experience.

Technology plays an important role within that and according to a Deloitte, 64% of sales are digitally influenced. This essentially means that you need to meet your customers where they are – on their smartphone.

Many customers now even use their smartphones in-store to check product information. This doesn’t mean that they’re going to buy the product online and often they just want to check reviews online before buying in-store. Even things like having a good website can help draw customers in-store so you should ensure to have information about your store location and hours visible on your website.

Check out this infographic from M2 On Hold for more information on how your store can go the extra mile to keep customers happy.
