Review – Sudio VASA headphones. Also grab a 15% discount #tech #headphones #sudio

After testing several headphones from sudio I was looking forward to see what the VASA had to offer at a great price and build quality how did I find them..

There is no escaping the fact I love headphones and earphones alike and have a rather large collection which gives me a great choice and it is a good position to be in for choice but I have been testing Sudio products some time now and they have been impressive for the price-point they come in at ..

Presentation again is excellent and is something I like to see in a product and it is a benefit for all not just the company. Check out the unboxing video below for the whole package experience.

Build Quality

These are not winged nor come with tips and are the least personal favourite of mine to wear but its all down to build quality and sound with me in general, these are built well aluminium housing making them solid but light they also look well with the polished finish to them. Another point here is the flat cable which is less likely to get tangled compared to the typical round cable we still often see. The design and look is also current and they come in several colours so you have choice. The inline control panel also is excellent with tactile buttons easy to navigate and looks great in fact overall they look premium.

Inside the packaging as seen in the video you get a carry case which is a plus and you also get a clip and extra buds which are always welcome.

Sound

Not their loudest this time around but punchy enough. I found them quite a bit lower in terms of volume maxed out compared to others from their range but you have to consider the price hear and then again I am use to having it loud but that’s my ears but on this occasion they did not get as loud as I expected. Overall though the sound was crisp and clear with all mids lows and highs but lacked true bass which many of us like but having them maxed out or using an EQ on your device can fix the bass problem but having it on max volume, This might not be again for everyone but my personal thoughts and taste but overall they perform well. And for those wondering about phone calls they where fine with good clarity.

Being wired means no charging something extra is another way to look at things here though wireless is now as popular as wired as we all seem to be complaining about no headphone jacks on mobile phones today and this is a longstanding argument over which provides the better sound “Wireless or Wired”.

Overall these are a good pair of headphones for the money in fairness minus the two things I spoke about that did not suit me but that is me so for the average user whom would not notice certain aspects in audio you cant really go wrong as you will get a crisp clear experience of your music with these and look good doing so with the premium look and build quality.

Review – The PSB Speakers M4U- 8 headphones with ANC #headphones #tech

On first getting these in and unboxing I was impressed off the bat which is something I don’t say too often but do they live up to my initial impressions???

I am a huge headphone fan and own some 50 pairs or so which is a bit of a hoarding problem ( try nearly 300 mobile phones) but when it comes to my cans I like choice and I like quality to go with it. Headphones/earphones or earbuds are something I use heavily daily and I like to have whats good and can deliver a good listening experience.

UNBOXING

The features are enough to get you going!!

  • Wireless amplified, tri-mode, closed back design
  • Bluetooth HD wireless connection with aptX and NFC (automatic connection)
  • Active Noise Cancelling Mode with RoomFeel
  • Active Mode with RoomFeel
  • Passive Mode (batteries not required)
  • One tangle-free cord for wired connection
  • One tangle-free micro USB cable
  • 1/4” stereo and dual input flight adaptors
  • Unique dual input connections (left or right)
  • Runs on included rechargeable battery power
  • Gyro-suspended ear pads (extra set supplied)
  • Easy folding for travel and storage
  • Semi-hard travel case

Build Quality. Is robust I would expect these to last though if it is your only pair that might be different this depends on the person and how they look after their goods but these come with a good travel case so there is no excuse. With leather padding on the headband it makes these really comfortable for long term use and the cups also offer same. With good joints thrown in they overall are solid.

Controls. Now I love these, Moving away from the typical raised tiny buttons we mostly see they are toggles and work a treat and are east to navigate blindly and there is some odd pleasure of been able to interact with a switch like feature and they work flawlessy each time.OK we have an ANC/Power Button and Bluetooth button which brings us to the norm but the balance here works well and I think this looks good, People who came to my house and seen them said “what the fcuk are them switches for” which gives the attention alone which brings me onto the sound experince next.

Sound. Exellent is all I can say as I type this review I have these on listening to my music. Even for the audiophiles out there they will be impressed. I have tested tried and own enough heapdhones to give a valid opinion but you will get the pedantic views perhaps from others having said that  they might be marching on comparing to more expenisve headphones such a beats which I actaully own and they are still sitting in a box because they are just overpriced rubbish and you are just paying for a name and these incidently come in around the same price.

Listening to all genres of music higs, lows and mids they deliver every time and have great bass and when you avail of the ANC you can immerse yourself to your hearts content in quality sound. Call quality was also fine on the few calls I took when using them.

RoomFeel it works..

Created to deliver the clear, natural sound of a live performance, PSB’s exclusive RoomFeel™ technology adds layers of lush realism to all your favourite recordings. Carefully developed to produce ‘Room Gain’ – the energy and clarity that a room adds when listening to high-quality loudspeakers. RoomFeel places the music seemingly around the listener, resulting in a truly stunning musical experience. Designed to go wherever you and your music go, RoomFeel brings the most accurate sound directly to your headphones.

Powered by AAA bateries  which come supplied in a rechargeable format you can replace these on the go if you like but you do get a 3.5mm cable with the package just in case. You will get around the 15 hours life as claimed by manufacturer from my testing period that was pretty much constant. Paring the headphones was also effortless just like most are today..

Anything bad?? Well three things not dealbreakers by any means. One is colour they only come in Black it is nice to offer a variety which might change and move away from the standard issue, Secondly they are a tad heavy at first compared to others but its not really a problem these are the type of headphones I would wear at home or in office and not something I would wear on the street they isolate the noise well even without the ANC and they are quite loud in volume which is personally something I like, not ideal for cylclists or waklking you need to have your wits about you. They sometimes sweat but this is for really long periods of use this will though vary per person and again room temp etc, If you are to wear these on a bus or train for example and you have a passenger beside you on full volume you might piss them off but hey …

Review – Urbanista Tokyo true wireless earphones. #Urbanista #Earphones #Wireless

I have been using Urbanista products some time now and one thing I can safely say is they are solid products and last. The new Urbanista Tokyo are no different either and if good sound is what you are after in this type or earphone these have it.

First up if you missed it check the unboxing below.

Setting up these guys is simple enough if you are use to this format as they can be individually used or used both together which is the ideal set up especially for music and you tube for example, During the process though on set-up there is a dull robotic woman telling you if they are on/off, connected /disconnected although I could forgive it as most others sound identical and she sounds unique here with these and the fact its there is a good thing and missing on many other brands.

Build quality is great and they are solid  I have dropped mine a few times and on some occasions one might fall out and remain unmarked. On using these outdoors quite often the charge case that comes with it is great, its small neat and will fit in any pocket and give you extra juice on your commute to work or a trip to the gym for example. This case gives you three additional full charges which is plenty for anyone. The housing is quite solid with rubber and plastic and feel solid as I mentioned and seem to fine given the drops they had to date.

When you pair these up there is a light on either side which can be distracting for some in dark lit rooms for example, One example as such i would use them in bed watching You Tube or listening to music and they flash all the time but its not much of a concern depending on who is with you or where you use them but you will notice this.

Charge time is around one hour and battery life seem consistent with the manufacturers claims and it is advisable to keep the charging case with you on long commutes. Given I am still not sold on in-ears like this I am now beginning to like them more and these are VERY comfortable and you have the extra buds inside to get that perfect fit. I did find a bit bulky and top heavy and they fell out a few times but that’s to be said for others I have tried bar the top heavy feel to them.

One area where they lack though is with multifunction.. You cant skip tracks which is slightly annoying but can be forgiven with the price and overall quality of the earphone but everything else works fine and with ease and they are really simple to use. They did disconnect with my phone a few times but I would blame my phone more so here which was the Nokia 7 plus which has an issue this department.

Phone calls and music are crisp and clear on this headset and as mentioned to music shines through pretty good here which I was surprised with and left me impressed enough to recommend a purchase here with ease. Depending on your equalizer settings you might want to adjust them to get your preferred sound and when tuned up right you will not be disappointed with sound quality here at all, Having tried the usual genres, highs, lows and mids they performed well and left me happy overall with the product.

Setup and use:

The initial setup was good seeing the UK as the default allowing a change e.g. Ireland easily changed and individual area listed. The option was given to search for terrestrial TV or cable channels. The smart TV set up, as with any new android phone is annoying, having to set up a Gmail account and go through all the usual accepting T&C.  The connection as with an android device was seamless without issues (connect to your router using the built in Wi-Fi). The updates required for apps which is now required for the smart TV are becoming a way of life but an annoyance to your TV viewing.

Once the TV was setup, the android features whether browsing the web or using a variety of preinstalled App gives the TV a complete new experience of viewing as if you had not used a smart TV before. The physical setup required 4 screws fitted to place the TV stand in place (the screws are a bit fiddley).  The setup is best to use a HDMI cable as there is no scart connection which is the current trend. All Cello TVs with MPEG4 technology can receive all TV channels in Ireland. Irish channels cannot be received in the UK.

Audio:

The TV comes with an inbuilt sound bar, 6 x Speakers (4 x 4ohm 8W sub-woofers, 2 x 8ohm 8W treble) max output 16W that provide outstanding sound quality. The audio when used with Spotify was turned up to 30%. The audio sounds were enough to hear in a standard home, turning up to 50% was too loud to stay in the same room as the TV. The quality was not distorted at the higher level and appeared a better quality than other more expensive TV.

Air mouse remote control

The air mouse remote control comes like a wireless mouse plugging the dongle into the back of the TV and the remote worked (batteries were supplied). The remote had all the usual features but took a while to get used to the gestures to pin point exactly where you want to place the cursor on the TV. The digital TV often appeared a lag from changing setting via the remote control. The batteries in the remote seemed to drain quickly.

Warranty & Quality:

The Smart TV made in England would inspire confidence in the quality, but this Cello product comes with only 12-month guarantee protecting you against electrical and mechanical breakdown.  This 1-year warranty from an English brand is a disappointment. The quality while minor gripes can be seen on the USB socket, misaligned on the back of the TV. The rear label was coming off. The remote on occasions was erratic in use not always locations to the right part of the screen.

Android Smart TV

The 55″ 4K Ultra HD Smart TV came with all the features you would expect on an android tablet, many of which are useful, in terms of ability to change the font size, but also comes with “the out of the box android features” location turn on or off. The playstore was on the TV with BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Kodi, 4 On Demand, Netflix, Sky Go, games and social media. The TV was connected via Wi-Fi and allowed a new world of TV entertainment. The Android Smart TV required the usual updates which are seen on the android smart phones.

Screen Resolution:

The 4K Ultra HD Smart TV new high-resolution format with 3840 x 2160 pixels, as compared to full HD 1920×1080 px;. approx. 4 four times the number of pixels allowing the display four times the level of detail. Normal HD can still be played on the TV using your existing HDMI cable, (there is no need to change the HDMI cable unless running a long distance). The 4K is the future of TV pictures but there is limited content on the market i.e. for SKY you need a Sky Q 2TB box with subscription and can get UHD films on Sky cinema on demand and a selection of box sets. A lot of the premiership football and such as the F1 is also in UHD, after that there are limited channels. The screen had a tin cover around the side ensuring the picture covers most of the screen. The panel does not block part of the screen which looks respectable when compared to more expensive brands.

Conclusion:

The TV came with 3 HDMI inputs for external devices & consoles, 3 USB sockets providing ample connectivity, and a Micro SD card slot (card not supplied) allowing storage for quick call up and smooth operation. The air mouse remote control is not my favourite remote, the standard Sky remote was used to watch TV.  The air mouse remote when used with the Android Smart TV was erratic, typing in details on the pop-up keyboard, works while positioning the remote to press enter on occasions was difficult. A recommendation would be to get a separate wireless / Bluetooth keyboard.  The audio quality while loud was a pleasure to use, especially in the movie mode given an impressive audio quality. Support is available from the UK via a UK number or dedicated ROI number which is a great positive.  The screen quality was impressive and worked well for Netflix without the expected buffering you might expect from a 55” TV. Overall this is a budget TV with a few niggles, warranty, quality of sockets but the viewing quality and audio is certainly a winner within the price range.

There are low battery alerts via the app to ensue you are reminded to recharge the tracker. The battery lasts 4 to 6 days between charges in manual location mode, 2 to 3 days in automatic mode. The PetTrackie takes 2 hours to recharge the battery.

WatchOvers PetTrackie App:

The app – WatchOvers PetTrackie App was used via the QR code on the Android store, Again no issues other than the usual requesting access to contacts, files etc. The WatchOvers PetTrackie App allows real time location tracking on Google map equivalent, updated every 60 seconds. The app allows location history and safe zones with alert messages.

Subscription:

Many of the previous trackers, if lost rely on “sends anonymous signal to the community, if someone passes the lost item, their phone will record your lost product new location”. The WatchOvers PetTrackie has an internal sim card, like a card on roaming (without the data issues) that looks to the best network and used this signal. This allows the tracking of the PetTrackie with a high degree of accuracy in over 150 countries worldwide. The outdoor accuracy is between 3 meters to 30 meters, indoor accuracy is reduced from 10 meters to 100 meters depending on the nearest mobile mast. This subscriptions service which is great to use and work well comes at a cost, The Subscription is € 4.99 p.m. on a 1-month contract. This subscription provides a live accurate means to locate a lost / missing pet.

Conclusion:

The cost of the monthly subscription may put some off this pet tracker. Those that have lost a pet, as seen on lost posters / Facebook throughout the country would agree, a loved pet is worth its weight in gold and would pay a premium to have a lost pet returned. The Technology works well, the unit is physically strong, waterproof not too heavy for a dog, (suitable only for a large cat, at least 4.5kg in weight.). This was tried on a medium size Yorkshire terrier and an albino Boxer. Both dogs had no reaction to the tracker when attached to their collar. The location which is updated every 60 seconds is beneficial to follow a moving pet to ensure directed to the exact location, with a bonus feature within the app allowing navigation directly to the coordinates via Google maps on your phone. In the event of a lost pet, local support could be a real bonus on this tracker. This is technology at its best works for the benefit for another family member (your pet).

Review – Marsno M1 Wired Headphones. #Tech #Headphones #Reviews

The Marsno M1 headphones are the latest to check in here for review and overall they are quite good with a great build quality and look and they also came well presented as seen in the unboxing below and also packed with a nice draw string carry bag some extra buds and tips. These come in several colours and we had the Black version to check out.

Build quality is great on these but how long that quality will sustain itself is something that will have to wait long term further down the road and how they manage with wear and tear but as it stands they are solid earbuds. I will report back on any other findings should they arrive while I use them over the coming months.

They are comfortable to say the least and with the additional earbuds inside you will find the perfect fit and you should be good to go.  When it comes to sound quality they actually have a nice bit of punch to them are sound good for the price you pay, You will not get super sound however as you would on more expensive earbuds but for the price you pay here they do a great job with little or no distortion and reproducing highs, mids and lows quite well too and there is a decent level of base to them too so bass fans on a budget will like these.

Overall they are a well build modern looking product giving you generous extras for a really affordable price and I cant really complain and feel these will last some time once you take care of them and use the carry bag provided when not in use you should get some longevity out of them. The company also offers a 100% guarantee so if you have an issue you should be fine .

Review – The Alcatel 3V budget smartphone offering quite alot for the money. #Alcatel

I am known for sporting top of the range smartphones and budget alike and use both, The smartphone market is seeing change now and change for the better if you ask me. We now have phones at the €1000 euro mark which many manufacturers seem to be following and it has become a race to see who an bring out the most expensive phone but people are not buying into it from where I sit.

Another trend which is the better option is mid range pricing for really good devices with the likes of One Plus for example being one and other brands are now following suit and for me this is where people will spend their money and it is proving popular. I love my phones and have a large collection but why would you spend the guts of a grand on a phone that one that is half the price can do, Is it for a status symbol or just one to say I have the latest. The latest does not mean its the best and to be honest i fell into that category but from testing phones you do not need to spend stupid money on a mobile phone anymore.

The next thing is now really good specs for phones sub €200 and it’s happening already but most of these are chinese devices which have to be imported and not available on networks anywhere so you have a problem straight away if something goes wrong and that’s returning it or whats called reverse logistics and this is a huge caveat for people importing devices or any tech for that matter.

Alcatel is a known company and have mobile phones out some time now and they are predominantly sold on tesco mobile and on some other networks, Tesco Mobile Ireland have a large portfolio of mobile phones from them offering a decent phone at a good price giving them an edge especially in the entry level sector. They have now however thrown a spanner in the works for budget smartphones with their new 3V has to offer off the bat.

The Alcatel 3V can be bought on Tesco Mobile UK right now and comes in several colours and for the price it has much to offer compared to the standard offering and I have been using one a few weeks now and I have to say I was expecting a “MEH” experience but suprisingly enough it was not and for the money you cant really go wrong here.

This phone might have a cheap build but it looks the part and covered up with a decent case this will see you a year no problem once you look after it and dont bog it down with apps, games and images and so which slow phones down over time. The phone would make an ideal first if this is your first Android smartphone or perhaps even a spare device to have at hand, the only gripes I have is the build quality and the RAM which for many its probably enough if you are the social media, email and browsing type it would not be suitable for heavy duty work and heavy multitasking but wil fly along switching between social media accounts and so on as mentioned above I am thought nitpicking here when you look at the cost.

The phone design is quite nice and blends in with current trends on the market its smooth all round but no sweeping edges which is now common but rounded well all over, On the back we have the typical camera set-up which again is decent for its price and the back has a shiny finish but this means fingerprints which is also a common trend today. The camera itself is a bit hit and miss overall but under the right conditions you will get decent snaps which you can check out in the video above.

On the right we have the power keyand sim tray/micro sd card slot and on the left is the volume toggle and all these keys are raised perfectly and have good tactile feedback. On the bottom we have a speaker grille and micro usb port and finally on top is the headphone jack. Overall performance on this device is actually quite good but you will need an SD card as it will slow down once you start loading games, photos and videos. For the money in fairness this is a good device bottled down by the usual RAM factor which can be reduced by using an SD card as mentioned. This device has much to offer for its pricepoint which is only showing flagship features are now moving past mid tier priced phones onto entry level but performance still lacks overall especially for multitasking.

Battery performance will be an issue if you tend to be a powersuer but this device is not aimed at such I could not get a full day out of it but I am a poweruser but the average user who likes social media, you tube web broswing and emails will easily get the full day out of one charge. The phone does come with a case which you will need as the device is mostly madeof plastic which would be a concern if dropped
