It’s official! @SamsungMobile confirms #GalaxyNote7 will be launched at #Unpacked2016 in August 2nd.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone by now, but ’till yesterday everything was nothing but speculation about whether or not the next Note series was going to be the 6th or the 7th.

It Was Samsung itself who clarified everything, with a special invitation to book in our calendars August 2nd as the day of the Unpacked 2016 event. Where we will meet the new Galaxy Note 7.

Why 7?

The Galaxy Note7 will  complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

There’s been plenty of rumors about new design language but still nothing official, what we DO know for sure now, is that the new Note will bring enhanced S-Pen features (as you can tell from the image above) and an Larger screen.

The main event will take place in New York at 11:00 a.m. EDT but just in case you’re worried, this Note will find its way to the UK this time as simultaneous event will be held in Rio de Janeiro at noon and in London at 4:00 p.m.

Netflix and binge watching. New binge scale reveals TV series we devour and savour. #Netflix

Netflix members around the world are making their own rules when it comes to watching TV. Instead of one episode per week, Netflix members choose to binge watch their way through a series – that is, on average, finishing an entire season in one week. Though binge watching is clearly the new normal, not all series are enjoyed the same way. Today Netflix unveils The Binge Scale, revealing which shows we devour and which we savour.

Binge Watching is the new norm in TV viewing behaviour. Instead of being held to an episode a week, we can now complete an entire season. However, while all series are being binged, not all are watched the same way – some are devoured and some are savoured.

o    Savour = on average members complete in 6 days / watch 1 hour, 45 minutes per day

o    Devour = on average members complete in 4 days / watch 2 hours, 30 minutes per day

Netflix examined global viewing* of more than 100 serialized TV series across more than 190 countries and found when members are focused on finishing a series, they watch a little over two hours a day to complete a season. When organizing series in relation to this benchmark, interesting patterns emerge, ranging from high energy narratives that are devoured to thought-provoking dramas that are savoured.

Series like Sense8, Orphan Black** and The 100 grab you, assault your senses, and as The Binge Scale shows, make it hard to pull away. The classic elements of horror and thrillers go straight for the gut, pushing the placement of series like The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and The Fall towards the devour end of the scale. Likewise, comedies with a dramatic bent, like Orange is the New Black, Nurse Jackie and Grace and Frankie, seem to tickle our fancy and make it easy to say ‘just one more.’

It’s no surprise that complex narratives, like that of House of Cards and Bloodline, are indulged at an unhurried pace. Nor that viewers take care to appreciate the details of dramas set in bygone eras, like Peaky Blinders and Mad Men. Maybe less obvious are irreverent comedies like BoJack Horseman, Love andUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. But the societal commentary that powers their densely layered comedy paired with characters that are as flawed as they are entertaining allow them to be savoured.

“As The Binge Scale indicates, the viewing experience of a series can range from the emotional to the thought-provoking,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix. “Netflix helps you to find a series to binge no matter your mood or occasion, and the freedom to watch that series at your own pace – whether that’s to appreciate the drama of Bloodline or power through Orange is the New Black.”

METHODOLOGY

Netflix analysed more than 100 serialized TV series across more than 190 countries between October 2015 and May 2016. The research examined member completion of the first season for all series. Data was only included for accounts that fully completed the season. Completion rates were organized into days and hours. The global median days to complete the first season of these series was five days. The median hours per session for completers overall was two hours and ten minutes. Series viewed less than two hours per day were identified as ‘savoured.’ Series viewed more than two hours per day were identified as ‘devoured.’ Series were not restricted by launch dates, runtime or number of episodes. Where a series falls on The Netflix Binge Scale has no relation to viewership.

** Not all series are available in all countries

John says:
“We are ecstatic to finally get going with this project. The team and I have put in enormous hours and we’ve come across our fair share of challenges along the way, but it wouldn’t be fun if we didn’t! I want to make Screen Hero a well-known brand worldwide. We’re not stopping with just tempered glass screen protectors. The long term plan is to branch into our own range of other smart device apparel such as covers, headsets, speakers – the sky is the limit for Screen Hero! We won’t stop until the people are 100% satisfied, customer service is the forefront of any good company – we just hope you all love it as much as we do!”

Having been in the smartphone repair industry for several years, we know how much repairs can cost and we know how often customers break their screens. 80% of the repairs we’ve carried out over the past three years have been screen repairs. In those three years, three things have happened: the repair industry has grown to five times the size it was, screen repair prices have doubled or even tripled, and customers are buying more expensive phones and investing in expensive accessories.

With all that in mind, it became clear to us that customers could benefit hugely from a quality screen protector. Our tempered glass protector is a multi-layered screen protector. It has a bottom layer of absorbent silicon and an optically clear adhesive tempered glass layer on top of that. The final layer is an oleophobic coating which is both waterproof and mark proof. Tempered glass is up to five times stronger than normal glass and will resist day-to-day scratches while giving you the same sensitivity of touch you’d expect from the original device screen.
Screen Hero is a revolution in smart device protection. With dozens of protectors in our store at unbeatable prices, it’s never been easier to keep your smartphone screen protected! We are committed to providing outstanding customer service to each and every customer. We’re an Irish company, and your order will be processed by our friendly, dedicated staff in Offaly and Westmeath in Ireland.

Newly anounced “5D Glass Disc” Can Store up to 360TB

How to keep our files and documents safe, is something that has bothered us since the beginning, but apparently, a team from the Optical Research Center from the University of Southampton have developed a way to record data in “5 dimensions” and make it last billions of years.

They use a method that uses ultrafast laser impulse to create nanoscale dots aligned into three layers that are five-millionths of a meters apart.

So using a single 1″ inch disc which is more durable than traditional storage options as well they can also fit 360TB into the disc.

According to the team each disc should be able to preserved the data up to 13.8 billion years (which also means we’re not going to be here to see it is indeed capable of that)

Th guys have already encoded various texts of mankind history like the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, King James Bible, Magna Carta and Isaac Newton’s Optick as copies.

Also named “Superman Memory Crystal ” when they showed for the first time in 2013 as it resembles a the one found on Superman movies of old, they should be ready for commercial use in a couple a years and you will have something like a DVD reader to look what you have there.

Professor Peter Kazansky, from the Optoelectronics Research Centre, said:

“It is thrilling to think that we have created the technology to preserve documents and information and store it in space for future generations. This technology can secure the last evidence of our civilization: all we’ve learnt will not be forgotten.”

What do you think about this? Will this be the solution mankind has been asking for since forever to preserved they knowledge to future generations?
