Unboxing the Nokia 8. Side by side comaprison with the 3,5 and 6.

Better late than never but our Nokia 8 has arrived this week although familiar with it by now we will just have a quick overview of the device today. The Nokia 8 has been out some time now and available on all networks bar the eir network and we also attended the Nokia 8 launch in London a few months ago which we had some time to play with it there and see all its features. The Nokia 8 is the current flagship on offer keeping in line with the device portfolio design language it looks nice is built well and its a solid performer.

Pricewise the Nokia 8 is priced well within the Irish market compared to other flagships but there is the threat with any smartphone maker from the new OEMs such as One Plus and XIAOMI just to mention two but Huawei could be considered also but they are also now going down the highly priced route like Apple and Samsung with phones touching 1000 euro or over this trend is not really an attractive price point for many,even on bill pay asking for up to €650 approx deposit on a certain plan this is just nuts.

Speaking of the OEM threat it’s also a factor to consider as they can’t be bought here and having issues with the devices is an issue itself with returning them although things have logistically got better its still an annoyance compared to a service you can get here at home with your provider or insurance company although i find the insurance companies to be a pain in the ass.

Yesterday it was announced that Android Oreo was made available to the owners of the flagship Nokia 8 but this did not specifically mention Ireland. Some think and perhaps are right in some ways relevent information for the UK is tied with Ireland but I have been constantly checking my Nokia 8 since the announcement yesterday but it was a fruitless exercise but most of us are aware updates roll out in waves.

This evening I checked my STEEL version of the Nokia 8 and happy days the update was there which is a massive update with a file size of 1518.1 MB.

Its a scales that tells the time and more,it even gives you a glance of the weather.

Having used one scales before with the additional features we don’t see on your standard scales with a pin that moves or be it digital/analogue or smart its refreshing to see a product with the Nokia name placed on it albeit the former company Withings that came up with the idea its nice and simple to use and if you have the NOKIA STEEL the health app is all you need which allows you to sync all your products in one app which is great and not having the need to have a separate app for each product.

The build quality is quite good but the scales itself is rather light but looks good its the average size compared to similar offerings and not a huge slap that will get in the way in anyones bathroom or bedroom not that you have to put it in those places it can be used anyhwere..There is detachable feet on the underside you can add or remove depending on the surface you wish to leave it on.

More than one user can use this scales which is done by inviting people to use it via the app which is quite handy indeed. Up to 8 people can use it.. The app is actually quite good and works quite well and easy to read and if you have the Nokia Steel it all works together quite well.. One problem I found though was recognising users and I had to re-assign myself back in this will happen with people of similar weight but it’s not too much of an issue overall.

The scale is really just giving the basics here like the Nokia Steel they are not fully fledged smart devices but gives you simple data day to day without the fuss and they just work well in a simple format you can of course opt for the BODY CARDIO scales which is giving more information again but if you are just stepping into the smart market something like this is ideal and saves you the hassle. The Nokia Steel is a really nice activity tracker which I have been using for some months now and its got me keeping in check daily to boot with daily goals and so on, Not only that this is a device that requires no daily charging and lasts around 6 months or so which for me is a better option than having something else to charge daily with your typical smartwatch,Also they look well too and can be worn at any occasion not strictly holding you to ransom on fitness goals,you can check out my review HERE.

Review – Nokia 5 TPU gel case transparent Black from @TerrapinCases #Nokia5

Another case in for review for the Nokia 5 is the TPU Gel Transparent case for the Nokia 5. These are my preferred type of case for a smartphone which absorb knocks and bumps better than full on hard cases from my experience and not only that they do not add much when it comes to thickness either and also light.
