It’s official! @SamsungMobile confirms #GalaxyNote7 will be launched at #Unpacked2016 in August 2nd.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone by now, but ’till yesterday everything was nothing but speculation about whether or not the next Note series was going to be the 6th or the 7th.

It Was Samsung itself who clarified everything, with a special invitation to book in our calendars August 2nd as the day of the Unpacked 2016 event. Where we will meet the new Galaxy Note 7.

Why 7?

The Galaxy Note7 will  complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

There’s been plenty of rumors about new design language but still nothing official, what we DO know for sure now, is that the new Note will bring enhanced S-Pen features (as you can tell from the image above) and an Larger screen.

The main event will take place in New York at 11:00 a.m. EDT but just in case you’re worried, this Note will find its way to the UK this time as simultaneous event will be held in Rio de Janeiro at noon and in London at 4:00 p.m.

Join us that day on twitter at @techbuzzireland and @VicenteA_George and stay tune for all the buzz.

#PokemonGO has one big flaw regarding personal information. #iOS #Android #Security #App

Just in case you live under a rock, Pokémon Go has been the trending topic the last few days, simply because it has surpassed  the consumer base of allegedly “bigger” companies.

And more than that, simply because its Pokémon! Maybe our dear Jim is not a big fan of the series, but I personally was when I was younger.

Been one of the few games that uses Augmented Reality or (AR) to play and that alone is a huge progress. The team behind the GO part of it, is no other than Niantic, the team that brought to us INGRESS.

Thus far everything sound great about the game, but recently, something really disturbing has happened.

When you first open the app, as in every other app out there, you need to log in with credentials. Within the app there’s just two options, or accessing through a Pokémon account (which is impossible  if you don’t have one already) or with Google’s.

When you use the Google account (which is what we all probably do on Android phones) the app generally show a pop up widget after letting you know which features will be accessing. But when you do this on iOS “nothing happens“.

The blogger Adam Reeve, found behavior rather weird and went to his Google page to see what he had given access to. The answer make all his alarms to ring off:

Pokemon Go has Full Access to your Google account

When you grant “full access” to an app, it can see and modify practically all information on your Google account. For you to have an idea, this is what the Google security page say:

  • Read all your email
  • Send email as you
  • Access all your Google drive documents (including deleting them)
  • Look at your search history and your Maps navigation history
  • Access any private photos you may store in Google Photos

This is something that shouldn’t happen as what an app would need to use in the case you forgot your password or something is, in ay case your name and email address.

Apparently this is not consistent across the APK, as has happened just to some iOS or Android users. But if you want to see if you’re one of them you can do it HERE

Apparently, Niantic has acknowledge the case and made a statement about the incident:

We recently discovered that the Pokémon Go account creation process on iOS erroneously requests full access permission for the user’s Google account. However, Pokémon Go only accesses basic Google profile information (specifically, your user ID and e-mail address) and no other Google account information is or has been accessed or collected. Once we became aware of this error, we began working on a client-side fix to request permission for only basic Google account information, in line with the data we actually access. Google has verified that no other information has been received or accessed by Pokémon Go or Niantic. Google will soon reduce Pokémon Go’s permission to only the basic profile data that Pokémon Go needs, and users do not need to take any actions themselves.

So, although it seems to be nothing to worry about, it would  be better if you keep an eye on your Pokémon Go access ’till everything is settled down.

Also remember that, apart from this issue, there’s a ton of fake apps that carry a malware which would harm your device.

If you don’t live in a country where is fully available at the moment find a secure and known source to get the APK from.

Samsung presented a new #GalaxyS7EDGE Limited “Olympic Games Edition”. #Android #Samsung

Something that’s becoming a tradition lately, is having an “Special Edition” phone from “x” line up from a strong company, but in recent times Samsung has put it “out-of-the-park” with their Limited edition models.

At the beginning of the year they brought to us the “Batman Edition” (in a trend of having superheroes theme phones, this was the best offering) and now, as sponsors of the 2016 Olympics in Rio, they have something else to show us.

The  Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition

Hardware-wise is the same S7 we all know, with top-notch specs and IP67 ratings, but what makes this device unique is the outside look (as if having a dual curve functional glass on the front wasn’t enough).

With custom patterns to give the usually plain finish, some colorful details.

All of which, will match the five official color rings from the Olympics.

Another thing to have in mind is the “limited quantity” of copies are available. Only 14,516 phones ill be made, 12,500 out of which,  are for the “Olympians” which will be bundled with the Gear IconX headphones, letting just 2,016 copies to consumers.

There’s still no word on price, but we can expect an extraordinary tag to the already “not so friendly” GS7 price tag.

But let us know! What do you thing about this trend of releasing “themed phones” which sometimes has nothing really important to offer, than a simple “make over“? Would you pick one up if you have the chance?

Take a look at how it would be having this “Special! model:

Be a better driver and get rewarded with #Drivies. (Spain) #Android #iOS #Driving #App

The years on those boring and cumbersome to use GPS systems when driving are more than over now. Each day, more and more of us use our phones as a main tool on this activity.

Well, what would you say if I told you that now you can prove you’re a good driver to your insurance company and besides, get discounts while doing it?

Let me introduce Drivies a new app to help you achieve that goal.

Well! Unfortunately not all of you out there, as right now, the app is mostly focused on Spain, and ruled by deals with Telefonica.

But lets hope this changes soon, as the app is really promising.

First of all, How it works?

All you need to do is use your phone as you’d normally do with any other app, using the GPS and others sensors, the app will tell “everything” about your driving technique, how much time you spend on it and so on.

With a deal made with “Pléyade” an Spanish ensuring company, using the app will help you to get discounts. The better you drive the more you get.

Within the app you’ll find the DrivieCoins which you can exchange for discounts on the ensurance, Taxi bonus or even on GAS comsuption.

And if you’re worried cuase you are not that good while driving, the app will help you to improve and also get some money for it. (sounds good, doesn’t it?)

As you can see, the app is fairly simple but helpful. Available on Android and iOS is also totally free to download.

So, if you live in Spain and want to try it out:

You can get the Android version HERE and the iOS version HERE

What do you think of these? Would you use it if available on yout region or your insurance company?  Let us know in the comment section down below.

AS you can see, they bring back the NFC support for this version, which is great, but they also confirmed already that they will not be offering a OnePlus X 2 as the company want to focus on flagship devices like when it started.

Another killer feature of these devices is the insane amount of RAM you have now, 6GB of RAM to move everything around.

The only “downside” you could find its the 1080p screen for a 5.5″ device on 2016, but in reality you’ll not see any difference unless you compare it directly to an S7 side by side.

What still remains to be seen if the 3000mAh battery will be enough  or even better due to the lower resolution screen, what could help a little is the fast charging capabilities, giving you 6h of use with just 30min charge.

Another great feature of the OnePlus 3 lies on its super customizable nature, you minimum knowledge you can easily slap a custom ROM on it and make it look exactly the way you want.

At the beginning we told you that now the device just have two color options, but now all those lovable back cover of the OnePlus 2 are now cases that you can use depending on the occasion.

All that for $399 is not a bad deal at all, the best part? They finally get rid of the “invite system” so you can get right now if you want to.

But let us know, Would you get one? Do you have one already? What are your thoughts on this 6GB monster? Sound off in the comment section below or join the conversation on twitter.

If something has shown us that not everyone is after a high end phone, is the fact that more and more smartphone manufactures are filling the market with tons of mid-ranger offers, being Samsung and their A series or Apple and the iPhone SE.

The T-Mobile Blackberry #PRIV finally gets #Android #Marshmallow.

Users of the BB PRIV on T-Mobile have been waiting for the official update since it was announced, but for one reason or other was delayed.

They were able to get it as beta through the Beta program Blackberry itself offered, but now is official but all those who didn’t want the struggle of “bug full” releases.

In case you missed it, we did a full review HERE were you can find all the benefits of the update.

But everything will be there, from DOZE to improve your battery life to the granular app permission that will boost the DTEK service.

Also unlike other manufactures, Blackberry did include to “Adatable Storage” on this update, so you can use an SD card to add more “onboard” memory.
