Poetic Cases – Review – Affinity case for the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. #Review

Poetic Cases have kindly sent us over some cases to check out and we have some for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Simple yet effective is how I would describe these and they do indeed look well especially from the rear,Packaging is bog standard but we always discard of this once the case is installed so its not really an issue to take note of but we do have to consider this element due to whats available on the market with some companies perhaps overdoing it with packaging but as I said its not a dealbreaker by any means either its more of a presentation factor for me..

The case does offer what the rest do and its protection for your expensive phone and cost effective at that, with all the key areas covered it passes the test even though its rather plain but they have managed to incorporate a nice design on the rear and you can excuse the front because with devices like these sporting dual edge screens it is challenging to go that extra mile keeping all functionality intact too..

Overall thoughts

Nice and simple yet protects your device, not bulky,Adds better grip and looks well from behind with a nice design on the back. Packaging is below par but not a concern..

Review – Otterbox Strada Series Leather case for the Samsung Galaxy S7. #Otterbox

The good folks at Otterbox Ireland have sent us over a good few cases to check out for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge so stay tuned over the coming days for all the reviews to come,First up is the Strada Series leather case for the Galaxy S7..

This case is well tidy and feels good in the hand too offering maximum protection all round keeping your device well protected,With a magnetic closure on board too it will always close perfectly each time and the clip itself shows off the Otterbox logo on the bottom part of the case which looks well too giving it that bit more of a premium look. Eternally the case is covered in leather front and back with the housing being that black coloured plastic we are well used to from Otterbox, this stuff is tough..Also on the outside we can access the volume toggles should you need to adjust the volume at any time, these buttons worked perfectly fine on our testing and no issues to be found here..

Overall the case fits well in the hand and has good grip with the leather on back and front and on the left side where back and front meet up,the case does not add much bulk to the device either,It is a big phone but Otterbox have introduced some nice slim cases over the years and this is one of them not making the device feel cumbersome,With the lip on the screen with case opened you will be fine leaving the device face down if you like and on leaving it closed with the back face down the is ample protection here for the camera and flash area,The ports are all easily accessible too with plenty of wiggle room for the 3.5mm headphone socket and the micro USB port, some cases tend to be less rewarding with wiggle room here but this case is perfect with all my cables, some of which I did have issues with other cases regarding to fitting 100%

This case comes in Three colours too so choice is available, with top quality all round it is a nice case to sport on your Galaxy S7 and looks well too. This case will cost you €49.99 from Otterbox.ie

Otterbox – Review Symmetry Series case for the Samsung Galaxy S7.

Otterbox Ireland have send us several cases for the Samsung Galaxy S7 range and today we will look at the Symmetry series for the Samsung Galaxy S7,We have two cases here to check out the only difference being the colour. Both cases are identical otherwise..

Lets have a look at the image gallery below first..

3 / 14

Both these cases as mentioned are identical, offering extra grip to a slippy device these add little to bulk up its overall feeling in the hand yet add some grip to the device which is better in the long run. Transparent cases also offer the user to see its original colour as many cases you might see today wont, some of these devices do have a nice colour and some like that naked feel too but it is always better to be protected just in case you drop it as it will not be a cheap fix. Both these cases also have good tactile feedback on the buttons and worked a treat too and all keys worked perfectly as seen in video,Offering protection on the front screen with a lip enables users to place the device face down on a flat surface with the same applying to the back of the device with the camera and flash area well protected.

Accessing ports to is simple with a generous space to facilitate any headphone jack or Micro USB,Over time I have come across a few cases that would not allow all to fit headphone jacks or Micro USB cables perfectly, this is not the case here and all I have fit fine and no issues,The one thing here is the case being transparent and having a clear back the case is subjected to smudging just like the device but its a small niggle you can forgive for protecting your device overall and with many of todays mobile phones being fingerprint magnets its something most folk are used to dealing with…

You can check out the full range of the Symmetry Series which are priced at €34.99 over on Otterbox.ie

Your mobile phone will soon detect body odour with #NOSE from #Nivea

Our phones can do many things and there is plenty more great ideas to come be it via an add on piece of kit or built in tech there some really neat ideas out there and today we learn of something new from Nivea,This is simply a cover for your mobile but can detect body odour levels if you are curious if you stink.. Good idea??

The Huffington Post reports that this new idea will available and will work with an app the user can download, this concept is currently in testing right now and the electronic nose  picks up the smell and evaluates it based on an algorithm created after analyzing the scents of 4,000 other men.

The new “smellphone” technology is currently going through beta testing, according to Geoffrey Hantson, a Belgium-based advertising executive who is the chief creative officer behind the project.

What do you think of this idea and would you purchase this case??

Review – Mozo – Back cover for the Microsoft Lumia 650. #Mozo

The good guys over at Mozo have sent us over some cases to check out for the Microsoft Lumia 650 which is the latest device on offer from Microsoft and these cases really are nice compared to what comes on the device I must say. Mozo are based in Helsinki Finland who design and develop mobile accessories and more, they are also selected as an official partner of Microsoft.

This is the back cover for the Microsoft Lumia 650 which is quite nice and looks well indeed adding some extra grip, feels much better to hold in the hand with chamfered edges to boot. Overall this case looks much better than the stock cover and sports all the cutouts required, the only difference being there is no Microsoft logo on the back and the hump which covers the camera area is actually slightly raised more giving it that bit more protection.

Review – The Olixar Universal dock and car holder for your mobile phone. #Olixar

With more and more cars now coming with sat-nav built in as standard can we see these kind of accessories die off soon? Nope not for a while yet,With most of us now sporting smartphones we have sat-nav built in and an array of choices of apps to use such as HERE,Google and TomTom mapping apps and we are more custom to those today than what may come pre-installed in a vehicle or again standalone sat-nav units. I tend to ignore the standalone because the ones we can freely download and use are more than enough to get what we want be it directions or just searching for a business or address..

Accessories are a plenty too, some good and some not so good and again there is some awkward or cumbersome offerings out there to hold our device in our vehicles,The one we have tested out is from our friends at Mobile Fun and its from Olixar and its a one piece unit and simple, nothing complicated at all here to use or install..

7 / 8

Priced now at €16.49 this is a good solid unit and comes with a two year warranty which is good for piece of mind too. Having tested this out it has been solid and works well especially if two people are in the car it can swivel simply should you need to do something on the device, with seconds to install and excellent suction it is very secure and even after going over some ramps and pot-holes ( We have lots of them in Ireland) it failed to budge. Overall I found it solid, stable and it failed to loose the devices tested on it no matter which way I had it stored be it Horizontally of Vertically.. Installing and removing the device is what impressed me too, there was nothing to it,Its simple, affordable and effective.

Features

  • One hand’ super quick mounting and removal of your phone
  • Holds your phone securely
  • Suitable for within a vehicle or any flat surface
  • Universal compatibility
  • 360° rotation for the perfect viewing angle
  • Case compatible
  • Sleek contemporary design
  • Easy to clean

Nillkin – Sparkle leather case review for the Samsung Galaxy S7. #Nillkin

In the first of our Samsung case reviews we have the Nillkin Sparkle leather case for the Samsung Galaxy S7 which was supplied to us from Mobile Fun.

The Nillkin case has a nice feel to it offering protection all round for the Galaxy S7 BUT not giving us any extra in bulk to the device, being a 5.1 inch device it will be large for some people. The case is also very light too which is great. The case offers easy access to all important ports on the device with none covered and also the speaker is also uncovered which will not have any sound muffled as some case do cover the speaker port even be in little.

IMAGE GALLERY

8 / 14

The case also offers good protection around the camera and flash areas due to the minor hump in this area the device would be prone to scratches if left uncovered and place on any surface, this case eliminates this as you will see in the video and images. Also something to point out is the flap which covers the screen which has a nice velvet touch to it will also keep the screen in good shape not hindering the experience or scuffing the screen. With the smart display window the case is compatible with the sleep/wake function allowing the user to see content whilst the device is closed, also you can download an app which will be present with the card in the packaging and you simply scan the QR code and enter the code given on the card, this allows some more functionality of the smart window.User can decide regardless what content matters to them to have it there at a glance without having to open the case, the device will wake up once the cover is opened too..

VIDEO REVIEW

Features of the Nillkin leather sparkle case are…

  • View the time and caller ID
  • Provides all round protection without additional bulk
  • Durable leather-style construction offers premium protection
  • Sleep / Wake function compatible
  • Access to ports and features
