Are eCommerce stocks a worthy investment?

In the last 18 months, the world has been turned upside down by the coronavirus pandemic. Although some normality has resumed and lockdowns have been lifted, our habits have altered significantly. 

A specific example of this is a change in consumer behaviour, with many individuals continuing to shop online, even after physical retail reopened its doors to the public. As a result, companies have adapted their strategies to cater for the increased demand for online shopping.

In 2021, the eCommerce sector is expected to boom, with traffic estimated to increase by 400 million users. If you’re considering investing in the stock market, this might have prompted you to consider buying eCommerce stocks. So, in this article, we’ll explore whether they are deemed to be a worthy investment. 

The effect of COVID-19 on the industry

The government’s enforcement of lockdowns throughout 2020, and in the early months of 2021, saw non-essential shops close their doors to the public. As a result, many of these businesses created their own online shops, since government grants were an insufficient source of income. 

Consumers were subsequently forced to turn to eCommerce platforms to find their favourite brands or buy any non-essential items. This saw the flow of online traffic and purchases increase, and the market’s revenues soared to $2.43 trillion in 2020 — a 25% increase on the previous year. 

Although we weren’t able to go anywhere when lockdowns were put in place, it would appear that the world remained concerned about staying up-to-date with the latest trends. A change in shopping behaviours

According to a survey conducted by MiQ, 50% of consumers in the UK plan to continue to shop online for clothing and accessories now that shops have reopened. 37% say that they will purchase beauty products online, and 35% believe that they will also turn to eCommerce shops to buy their electronics and entertainment. More people are avoiding shopping in store, to steer clear of catching coronavirus, but also because they have enjoyed the convenience of online retail and the selection that it affords them. 

This has caused companies to recognise the importance of enhancing their online consumer experience to provide for the increased demand. What’s more, many small businesses have set up online shopping platforms, moving firmly into this savvy online-shopping age. 

As a trader, you could take advantage of this behavioural shift by investing in the shares of an eCommerce platform that is performing well right now and here’s an example for you: 

  • Shopify Inc. (NYSE: SHOP) 

Shopify is a bit of a newcomer in the eCommerce world, but like many new businesses, has thrived during the pandemic. The company is a Canadian-based platform that allows small businesses to list their products online. Shopify has only been trading for the last 10 years, but has amounted to 1.75 million sellers. If you’re looking to invest in a company that still has significant growing room, Shopify could be the stock for you. 

In 2020, the company experienced record highs, growing by 116%, with revenue from subscriptions increasing by 41%. In February 2021, the company recorded a revenue of $977.7 million and in response to the increased demand for their services, the brand has been adding some exciting features to its platform. Tech Review – Tronsmart Battle Gaming Earbuds

Having tested many of Tronsmarts products they never seem to disappoint and for gamers these earbuds should be something on your radar and of course they are affordable but the question is do they work and are they worth the money, for gamers they like a certain set of parameters for the audio experience and there is other brands out there that are known to gamers for that particular sound the gamer likes but for your money here in short these do a fine job.

Build quality

There are really cool earbuds with a glossy finish which is fine and have a small stem and akin to Airpods in design, I prefer this type of approach and the quality seems good, they are durable and look solid but time will tell on this but for me they should last just as long as any other earbud, they come in a really cool charge case that is transparent and I really like this effect and it is nice to see a different approach to the case which makes them look really nice overall.

Fit

Fit here is fine and they are comfortable, there is a stem but this is fine, some folk do not like stems but for me I do not really mind at all and they are comfortable even for long term use ie many hours of gaming and music.

Controls

There is no app here which might change as the company does have an app with a selection of their earbuds on it, to change your options you just tap the upper side and they worked really well here with every tap and that for me is a great feature as some earbuds do not respond to every command, you have all the features required and the same applies to use these for music, I tested these in both gaming and music and worked well.

Sound

These sound great i have to say and ideal for both gaming and music and anything else you would use earbuds for they are crisp and clear and sharp delivering great direction and gives you a level of immersion when gaming you will not be disappointed here with these and they perform really well for the price you pay which is an added bonus. You can triple tap to change between gaming mode and music mode and the job is done.

The Tronsmart Battle Gaming Earbuds has Bluetooth 5.0 with AVRCP, A2DP, HFP codecs. It supports voice commands and IPX5 certification for water and dust resistance. The battery life will be about 20 hours and this does vary to volume levels and so on. Skip track,reverse track and volume controls are all present here.

Tech Review – Otterbox case line-up for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Otterbox have kindly sent us a huge range of cases and accessories to check out and today we check out the line up for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 which is one of my current daily drivers right now and up to now it was a love hate relationship and getting use to the new form factor, also worth noting I had a cheap case on it for it until more arrived and we do have more to come and the case I have decided to use it making the user experience a lot better for several reasons. Otterbox is also a brand I have been using for years myself and one brand I turn to when I get a new device and typically one case would last me the lifetime of my phone, in fact I still have the same case from the iPhone 12.

KPMG announces 350 new tech jobs at launch of Platform X Global Innovation Hub in Dublin’s IFSC

Leading professional services firm KPMG announced its plans to expand its Digital Technology practice by adding 350 tech focused professionals in Ireland over the next year, and investing in a global market leading innovation hub in Dublin’s IFSC, Platform X. The new jobs will be a mix of graduates of STEM disciplines and experienced professionals, with the investment reflecting accelerated client demand for expertise in this space. Best stocks for Swing traders to Start

If you take a look at the graph of the stock it is evident that when the stock rises up, the low points in the pattern are all aligned. It is possible to sketch an approximate line between the lowest points. This can be the lowest trend line. Each time the stock crosses that line, it moves up and up.

The reason this stock is beneficial, to begin with, is the fact that the top trend line has been pre-drawn for you. Be sure to show the 50-day moving mean. This is the lowest trend line of this stock at the present date.

Similar to drawing the trend line along with the highest points the stock reaches. When Facebook gets to that higher trend line, it’s likely to fall back to its lowest trend line. Tech Review – Tronsmart Splash 1 IPX7 bluetooth speaker #TronsmartSplash1

Fancy a new bluetooth speaker that has an IPX7 rating which means you can take it to the beach and more well this one should be on your radar from Tronsmart with their new Splash 1. With Bluetooth 5.0 that offers a stable connection and also quite cool is the lighting effects on it. With a solid built too this is quite robust and will last and also can take a beating if dropped.

Unlike the Studio wireless recently reviewed here this is made with plastic all round with a fabric coating on top akin to a larger google home mini design it feels robust in the had and built to last with a lanyard to strap to your wrist or around your neck or whatever suits which makes it very portable.

Controls are very simple here and placed on top with raised rubber keys and easy to perform the task at hand, you can skip and reverse tracks, play and pause music too and also take calls on the fly with this speaker which makes for a clear conversation. There is no app support here like you would find in some of their products but overall the sound is quite good with a nice touch of bass thrown in and all other aspects of the audio quality is quite good and well balanced so you will not be disappointed.
