Tech Review – emporia JOY-LTE V228

The emporia JOY-LTE   comes from the family of the emporia phones which is an upgrade to the previously reviewed Emporia TALKglam in terms of features. This flip phone offers a range of features tailored to the needs of the older generation and those seeking a simple, user-friendly mobile device.

This flip phone has a 1.1-inch external display with a 2.8-inch screen and textured keys. The camera comes with a 2-megapixel camera with a side button to open the camera or turn on the torch. This model has an IP54 rating for protecting speakers against dust and water splashes. This incorporates the VoLTE and M4/T4 hearing aid compatibility which is ideal for the hard of hearing requirements. This solid material weighs  115 g and is 4G LTE

The kit came with a USB C charging cable and stand and a set of USB C earphones, ( The quality of the earphones would be debatable )

The warranty provided with the JOY-LTE V228 includes 1 year for the handset and 6-month battery warranty which is disappointing in their ranges.  The presence of a local UK and Ireland support number remains a positive.

Conclusion.

The Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 is of excellent build quality using the same formula in design as the previous Elite 8 Active having excellent IP rating for water and dust to military standards. The software JabraSound+  has received excellent reviews and again can’t fault this. The Audio quality is great allowing for customisation of the audio experience or tailored to your style. The Adaptive Hybrid ANC auto-filters are good while the app default is to have the Wind environments turned off (possibly to save battery ) which I feel would be the best turned off as a regularly walking making calls and listening to a variety of music. (With this function turned off – wind distortion on calls is very annoying for the other end of the call. Picking up unwanted noise)

In conclusion, the Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 is an excellent choice for those seeking durable, high-performance earbuds for their workouts and active lifestyles. The addition of the smart case and impressive battery life make them a top contender in the market.

The 1-year warranty is a disappointment, as I prefer to see longer coverage periods. Additionally, the build quality is noted to be plasticky, which may not appeal to those seeking a premium feel. The  Sony website has lots of information for support but is avoided given the actual warranty details which indicate retailers/regions may offer unique warranties depending on the promotions.

They weigh 4.6g per earbud and have Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, USB-C, and support for Sony 360 Reality Audio and AAC. The frequency range is 20Hz – 20kHz, and they have an IPX4 waterproof rating. The Sony Headphones Connect companion app allows for customisation, including ambient sound control and wind-reduction mics. The multimode option allowing connection to 2 phones Android & iPhone is a bonus which is a must for my requirements while carrying 2 phones on most occasions. The weight of the earphones stands out lighter than expected without compromising on the key features. The standardised USB C cable included is great to see from a premium brand rather than a proprietary cable with a solid app for customisations.

The Sony WF-C700N earbuds are a solid choice for those seeking a budget-friendly noise-cancelling option with good sound quality and a range of features.
