Bank of Ireland has announced a new strategic partnership with Stripe, the programmable financial services company. This marks a key milestone in Bank of Ireland’s digital transformation programme.
The partnership will focus on accelerating payments innovation, streamlining backend operations, and exploring ways to deeply integrate Stripe’s advanced, AI-driven financial technologies directly within Bank of Ireland’s core operating systems.
Susan Russell, CEO, Retail Ireland, Bank of Ireland said: “We always strive to provide easy-to-access and fast service to our customers. Payments are a core part of the value we deliver and partnering with Stripe provides us with new opportunities. Stripe is a great success story, with a strong Irish heritage. We look forward to working with their team to further enhance our technology and accelerate AI integration to improve services for customers.”
Conor McNamara, Chief Revenue Officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Stripe, said: “We’ve been working with Bank of Ireland Group for several years. Deepening that relationship is now about going further and bringing the same level of speed and reliability to other areas so they can move faster for their customers.”

The partnership is an extension of the existing Bank of Ireland Group relationship with Stripe. Stripe’s programmable money movement technology already underpins payments reconciliation for Davy, Ireland’s leading wealth and capital markets provider. Davy has used Stripe’s Bank Transfer product since 2021 and has since processed over €2 billion in volume through Stripe, saving 3,000 hours annually. New Ireland Assurance – Bank of Ireland Group’s life and pensions provider – will shortly roll out a similar product.
Over recent months, Bank of Ireland has made significant progress in enhancing digital and payments capabilities, with a focus on faster, more intuitive services. Launched in March, Zippay enables instant mobile-to-mobile payments, while Quicker Payments provides UK business customers with same-day transfers. The Bank also launched AI-driven tools like Benefits Finder to help customers unlock tax benefits, and an online ‘Electric Vehicle Marketplace’ to support customers’ transition to EVs. These innovations followed the addition of SEPA Instant in late 2025, which enabled instant euro payments.
