CWSI redefines the retail experience for ŠKODA with managed mobility solution

CWSI, one of Europe’s most experienced mobile and cloud security specialists, is today announcing that it has redefined the retail experience for ŠKODA UK with a fully managed and highly secure Ivanti mobile solution delivered to its approximately 130 retailers in the UK.

ŠKODA is one of the world’s oldest car manufacturers, with its origins dating back to 1895. Since joining the Volkswagen Group in 1991, it has become one of the most successful automotive brands, having established a presence in more than 100 markets worldwide.

To support the growth of the brand and the ever-adapting automotive markets, ŠKODA UK wanted to increase customer satisfaction throughout the car purchasing process with the use of digital tools. It needed an integrated and mobile digital solution to present sales collateral such as brochures and informational materials to customers, as its processes were primarily paper based. The brand was also developing Digital Assistant, an iOS-based app used by sales teams to view and provide detailed information on every ŠKODA model.

CWSI won the contract and designed a Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solution based on Ivanti Cloud technology. This has enabled the seamless rollout and management of nearly 1,000 iPad devices across ŠKODA’s 130 UK retailers. As well as providing a collaborative, centrally managed platform for these point-of-sale devices, the secure solution underpins the company’s revolutionary retail experience for customers – the Digital Assistant app. CWSI worked closely with the development team in the creation of the app and its insights were crucial and shaped how the app was developed.

Following the rollout, retailers can host virtual appointments via the iPads with customers who may not wish to visit the showroom, or give vehicle tours to customers from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, ŠKODA saw an uplift of +0.4 in the customer experience score when an iPad was used. It also saw a similar uplift in salesperson knowledge scores. CWSI’s deployment saves valuable time for employees by providing all necessary information at their fingertips. The mobile and adaptable nature of the managed iPad solution is also ideally placed to support remote or hybrid working.

CWSI manages the lifecycle of the fleet of iPads from procurement right through to decommissioning. CWSI has Ivanti Premier Partner status as well as one of the largest in-house teams of accredited Ivanti engineers and support analysts in the UK. CWSI also provides point of contact support and manages repair should a technical issue arise, ensuring business continuity.

Chris Batty, Digital Experience Manager, ŠKODA UK: ŠKODA is known for producing some of the best cars on the market and we needed a customer experience to match that. We required an all-encompassing solution and through leveraging modern technologies, we have built an industry-leading sales tool. Enabled by CWSI’s management solution, customer satisfaction scores have increased and sales teams are more empowered.

“Ultimately, the solution is helping to drive profitability for the brand and is now an integral part of the ŠKODA customer journey.”

Ronan Murphy, CEO, CWSI: “Having previously worked with CWSI, ŠKODA knew we could be trusted to deliver the next phase of its journey. CWSI provides a fully managed proactive service for the devices which requires no action on ŠKODA’s part, which is something retailers appreciate as they can focus on their core business.

“This leading mobility solution with best of breed security, compliance, device management controls and functionality has amplified the customer experience for ŠKODA. It has future proofed the company’s retail operation, underpinning the Digital Assistant app and truly allowing sales employees to be product experts. Our own product team is continually monitoring potential enhancements to Ivanti’s products and any other changes that may affect ŠKODA’s solution. The adaptable, scalable deployment was built with the future in mind.”

Konftel Expands Video Kit Portfolio With New ‘Conferencing Flavours’ For In Room PC-Based Market

Collaboration endpoint specialist Konftel has launched a series of video kits optimised for in room PC-based systems, to capture a wider choice of conferencing scenarios.

Konftel Attach is a range of five kits designed for Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms and more open-based solutions. The portfolio has been specifically adapted for in room systems such as from Lenovo and Dell.

Konftel Attach presents a line-up of highly capable conference cameras and speakerphones, accompanied by a long USB cable (up to 10 m) for optimal audio placement. The kits work with all in room PC variants, for meeting rooms of all sizes, from focus to extra large, (when additional expansion microphones are used).

Konftel Product Manager, Torbjörn Karlsson, says the kits complement the company’s Bring Your Own Meeting concept to ensure a comprehensive choice of hardware options.

“Whether users prefer to bring their own laptop to a meeting (with their own preferred app) or take advantage of a dedicated in room facility, where all the equipment is already in place, Konftel has dedicated solutions that bring each system to life.”

He added: “A typical in room solution has a main computer, which is controlled via a touch panel or wireless keyboard and mouse, connected to a display screen. Users can ‘add more flavour’ by combining a high quality Konftel camera and audio with a long audio cable, that maximises speakerphone placement.”

The Konftel Attach range comprises:

More conferencing flavours

Director of Global Sales, Tommy Edlund, says Konftel Attach creates more customer choice and provides channel partners with the opportunity to capture additional market share.

“Bring Your Own Meeting and our simple One Cable Connection hub is our video heritage and remains extremely popular but we recognise it’s important to offer the widest possible choice of set-up options.

“The in room sector is growing significantly and we expect the two distinct scenarios to eventually level off at around 50/50. The introduction of more conferencing ‘flavours’ represents a welcome expansion of our range and enables us to penetrate deeper into the market. It is already generating lots of interest and excitement.”

He concluded: “Konftel continues to innovate and move forward. All our products are Climate Neutral certified and we have some further new developments in the pipeline to help us remain at the forefront of the industry. More details will officially be announced soon.”

6 Obvious (and Not-So-Obvious) Advantages of Online flutters

Online casinos have become ubiquitous recently, with millions of people playing online slot machines and other games on a daily basis. Each of them opts for such a pastime for a certain reason. Bonuses are the most luring ones. Sections like https://betinia.com/ie/promotions offer rich assortments of promotions. Still, in this article, we will study the most evident advantages of online gambling and will ponder over some of them which can be less straightforward.

  1. Financial prosperity

It is common knowledge that many people start gambling with the idea of improving their financial situations. Indeed, lucky players win thousands and even millions of dollars.

Sure enough, this is a rather rare occasion, and there is a high risk of losing much more by the time you finally seize a major prize. However, many experienced gamblers manage to have small but regular wins, which gradually accumulate and make their owners richer. The main thing is to stick to a safe playing strategy and not to get allured by risky options. Besides, most online casinos offer various freebies, such as the first deposit bonus, which helps players kick it off with as small investments as possible.

  1. Emotional recharge

Gambling goes hand in hand with adrenaline, so for many users, playing roulette or poker is like engaging in extreme sports. This is a fascinating way of making life more interesting and escaping from everyday routine.

This is probably why some gamblers develop a somewhat addiction towards casino games and tend to make them the key aspect of their lives. Yet, with due discretion and moderation one can easily continue gambling without risking to overlook their work, family, and friends.

  1. Anywhere, anytime

One of the unquestionable advantages of online gambling is that you can play wherever and whenever you feel like. Most online casinos are available on tablets and smartphones, so the only thing you need is an Internet connection.

A possible drawback of such simplicity and availability is that people often play while walking or even at work. It is quite understandable: why not indulge in some gambling when you seem to be doing nothing important or are simply bored, especially if your first deposit bonus is already waiting for you? Still, try to remember that business always comes before pleasure, and gambling will cause you no trouble.

  1. Learning opportunities for newbies

Traditional casinos are rarely visited by inexperienced gamblers since such establishments provide scarce opportunities to learn how to play. People simply tend to avoid doing something they feel uncomfortable about.

Online casinos, the other way round, offer numerous gambling tips. Each game’s description contains detailed rules, and demo mode is often available. Hence, gamblers can easily get a foot in the door without risking their time and money.

  1. More reward points

At most online casinos, each recharge makes you entitled not only to extra cash (be it a welcome bonus or the first deposit bonus) but to the so-called reward points as well. They accumulate in your account and can subsequently be exchanged for secret games and other benefits.

Such a policy makes online casinos available to players notwithstanding their financial opportunities and renders gambling more profitable. Land-based casinos do sometimes offer similar reward points but they generally take much longer to add up.

  1. Better winning odds

Few people know that, according to the statistical data, online gamblers win more often than the visitors of traditional casinos. The reason is simple: online gaming establishments have a larger player base, and there are no limits on the number of people who can play a particular game simultaneously.

This is why online casinos generally offer much higher prizes. To cap the matters, online gamblers can play more often than in land-based casinos, and the selection of games is wider online, so the odds to win are quite impressive.

Dell Technologies Transformation Made Real Event to Focus on ‘Making Your Business Cyber Resilient’

On June 30th, Dell Technologies will host the latest event in their Transformation Made Real Series focused on theme of ‘Making Your Business Cyber Resilient’.

As business leaders look back over the last two years, it’s clear there has been a seismic shift in how organisations perceive technology and its role in shaping a do-anything-from-anywhere economy.

However, with new technologies shaping a data-driven economy, there is a growing need for businesses to place cyber resilience at the heart of their digital transformation journey. After all, success in a digital economy relies on the ability of businesses to secure data and maintain trust in their IT systems.

To truly thrive in the digital era, leaders must focus not only on the power of new technologies to transform their business but also on the importance of putting in place measures to mitigate against, respond to and recover from the growing threat of cyber-attacks.

With cyber-attacks occurring every 11 seconds globally, what steps can Irish businesses take to strengthen their cyber resilience and ensure they can continue transforming at speed in the months ahead?

Connected and The Business Post, in association with Dell Technologies, will host a Transformation Made Real hybrid event on Thursday, 30 June.

The hybrid event will reveal the growing focus on cybersecurity amongst Irish business leaders. With the cyber risk front of mind for everyone right now, speakers will map out the steps leaders can take to make their business cyber resilient.

Headless eCommerce for Forward Thinking Businesses

The world is developing at a fast pace. People’s needs are met with technological inventions that ease our lives and help us enjoy them more. There is the idea of busyness. That people, to be successful or happy, have to be busy, running between meetings, and always be in a rush. Technology makes our lives easier by creating and offering the tools we need to support our lifestyles.

And one of the domains that rely heavily on technology and grows with it is e-commerce. Placing an order online for everything is now available. If you are busy and you don’t have time to find a present for your partner, you can order it online.

You can order furniture for your new house, clothes, a new phone, and so on. And because this domain is flourishing, offering customers the best shopping experience is mandatory. The competition is fierce and if you do not align with the e-commerce trends, you will likely experience drawbacks in your business. This is why headless eCommerce should be applied to forward-thinking businesses.

About Headless Ecommerce

Headless eCommerce is a rather new concept that entered this domain and it refers to what happens behind. Customers mainly see just a part of your business: the website they place an order on. But behind this user interface layer is a backend one, where the business logic is. The frontend and backend layers are strongly intertwined in traditional eCommerce. You have a predefined user interface and you rely on only one vendor, which gives you limited flexibility.

On the other hand, headless eCommerce gives you everything you need to improve the user experience of your customers. You can choose and add tools that come from distinct vendors. On top of this, the frontend and backend parts are not coupled which gives you endless possibilities. They communicate through APIs, which are like some bridges through which data is transferred between the two main layers and other apps.

How Is Headless Ecommerce Boosting Forward Thinking Businesses?

As a business owner, you want it to be successful. Maybe you do not dream about becoming a giant in your niche now, but things can change along the journey. Implementing tech-related decisions that improve the user experience of your visitors will make your business successful. And, why not dream big?

Headless eCommerce is boosting forward-thinking businesses and it helps them keep updated with the latest domain trends. There are incredible benefits of using headless eCommerce.

Progressive Web Applications

The concept of progressive web apps is rather new, but it has been applied until now successfully by some of the world’s giants. For example, Twitter launched the Twitter Lite app back in 2017 which was much smaller in size than the native app. Over the years, it has become the only option available. The same goes for Starbucks, which increased the number of online orders by designing a progressive web app (PWA).

A progressive web app is like a mobile app, but the experience is delivered on the web. You can add it to your desktop screen and access it anytime. The experience will be such as the one of a native app. This helps eCommerce businesses increase their revenues and meet the needs of all their customers, both mobile and desktop users. Headless eCommerce offers the possibility of implementing a PWA easily so that you can boost forward-thinking business.

Unlimited Control

A few years ago, monolithic architecture was the only option. However, technology has developed tremendously and it made the job of administering an eCommerce more facile, but more challenging too. With headless eCommerce, you have unlimited control over what you want to do with the user experience and user interface.

All changes can now be made easily, without working on the backend layer. And it will not take months to implement and test the changes, but only days. Headless eCommerce gives you unlimited control to customize the experience of the visitors and make it as enjoyable as possible.

Distinct Vendors

As the frontend and backend layers communicate through APIs, customizing each layer is easy and facile. You can make the changes anytime, test, and add them after the bugs are solved. As now these layers are decoupled, you can also choose tools or apps to add to your eCommerce website that come from different vendors.

You might want to add a tool that measures your analytics so that you can understand the customers’ behavior better. You might want to create a blog section on your website where you share tips and tricks for using your products. Well, with headless eCommerce you do not have to buy them all from the same vendor. You can now choose distinct ones and integrate the changes quickly. Headless eCommerce gives you unlimited flexibility to customize the layers however you want much faster.

Enjoyable Omnichannel Experience

A monolithic architecture does not help you stay updated with the market and technological trends. On the other hand, a headless eCommerce architecture helps you do this successfully. There are many ways you can stay in touch with your customers and increase your brand awareness. Being present on as many channels as possible helps you get closer to your target audience.

Offering an enjoyable experience to all your customers, no matter where they shop from is essential. Headless eCommerce helps you create and offer your customers an enjoyable omnichannel experience. No matter if they are using your PWA or accessing the mobile app, they all should have seamless contact with your business.

Final Thoughts

Headless eCommerce is revolutionizing the retail world. It makes administering a business even easier. It comes with a lot of benefits, such as a great degree of flexibility, the option of creating progressive web apps, or the opportunity to offer a seamless omnichannel experience.

The frontend and backend layers are not coupled anymore, which allows you to make changes to either layer easier and faster. To achieve success with your business you have to stay updated with the trends in the domain. And implementing headless eCommerce is what you should do for a forward-thinking business.

Tech Review – Jabra Engage 55 headset

The Jabra Engage 55 came in the usual style box with the features called out on the packaging.  The earphones are noticeably lighter than many predecessor units, while had the usual features in terms of headset flexibility adjustments and came with the typical Jabra charging stand.

Accessories

The Kit came with a carry case, cables, charging stand and a USB DECT adapter instead of a wireless base. You can see the unboxing here and walkthrough by Jim who has also tested this headset and finds it a “must have” piece of kit.

Setup:

The setup as described on the packaging is easy – plug in the supplied Link 400 adapter in the USB laptop port, turn on the power on the headset and are ready to go. Corporate laptops may need to have the USB port checked if locked down to facilitate access.

Jabra direct

Optional software may be downloaded to upgrade the firmware on the unit or additional features

Charging & battery life

The Earphones  come with approx.13 hours battery  which can be charged via the supplied charger holder or via the USB A charging cable supplied. (An audio warning is given in the event of low battery) During a call should be a low waring audio sound these earphones can be plugged into a laptop, or wall charger to ensure no drop in the call.

 Range:

The range as quoted by the Jabra is a staggering 150 Meters from your computer using the compact USB DECT Link 400 adapter.  To put this in perspective, UK football stadiums are typically 105 by 68 metres while Croke Park pitch covers an area 145m long by 88m wide. As per my test, this is measured by “Line of sight” (LIS), with no opticals blocking in the way from the laptop to the headset allowing clear conversation. This worked well in the back garden but as I tested in the front, with various walls, and barriers the range diminished quickly albeit the dect technology is far superior to Bluetooth as the DECT wireless range is 15 times the average range of Class 2 Bluetooth® device. (i.e., do not expect anything close to 150 Meters in a built-up area while may work in an open warehouse, or office plan type area). This will also diminish how many people are using the network.

Security.

In modern-day, most businesses train their staff on phishing,  vishing and the treats of using Wi-Fi in the local café in terms of hacking. The Jabra Engage 55 steps up this in terms of technology with the Secure Dect wireless adapter, which has additional FIPS military-grade 256-bit encryption algorithms, to prevent snooping and keep communication, and exchanges away from prying ears or technologies.

Audio quality.

This is one of the first areas many people ask, is the Audio, ok?

In essence, most of the teams/ video calls are not focused on the high and low frequencies of classical music but on the background, noise heard on the calls.  The Jabra comes with a great ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) Microphone that is designed to block out noises like a dog barking, or a lawn mower going in the background. This can easily be demonstrated when using a noisy keyboard, the sound of the keystrokes is dramatically reduced using this headset.  Surprising when listing to YouTube music etc the quality is good. The earphones ensure conversations are concise and clear while the microphone must be positioned correctly to ensure this quality.

Hearing Safety

This is an area often forgotten which maybe become more apparent in years to come as many users try to turn the volume to max and use earphones for full-day use. This is   similar to builders using high power tools. in the past now suffering from hearing loss, The Jabra brand came with a  SafeToneTM 2.0, in hearing protection which consists of PeakStop™ prevents sudden loud audio spikes and IntelliTone™ 2.0 limits overall audio exposure. This type of technology should be mandatory for the future to ensure we are not damaging our future generation’s hearing,

Niggles,

If using the hybrid model to travel to the office, you have to carry a dongle and a spare USB A lead, this is a step backwards from the C charger lead as used in most newer Android phones.  This is to facilitate the docking station which works if the unit is placed in a stationary environment,  Jabra would do well to replace the supplied USB A cable with the modern USB C Cable.

These earphones are not compatible with smartphones coming  with no Bluetooth option which means the dongle has to be plugged into the laptop at all times which is another part of the laptop when on the move,  ( should you require a  Bluetooth option possible look toward the  Engage 75 or Jabra Evolve 2 75  which has multimode allowing 2  Bluetooth  devices connected at the same time, https://techbuzzireland.com/2021/12/08/tech-review-jabra-evolve-2-75/

Warranty

This comes with a 2-year warranty with the option to replace the battery if required at a later stage. This is great to see on a quality product.

Conclusion:

The Jabra Engage 55   is a headset that out of the box works well with no technical setup required while has advanced options for the firmware via the free Jabra direct software. The key features in terms of being lightweight, excellent range and call security are inbuilt also. This has the often-forgotten hearing safety built-in without any deterioration to the audio of the unit. ANC works well to reduce unwanted back noise to ensure superior quality calls. There are slight personal niggles on the cables supplied but just personal choice and do not affect the operation of the unit. Again, the unit is not designed for Bluetooth products, but Jabra has many other products that work in this area. The future proof in terms of the option to upgrade the firmware and, warranty, battery replacement is excellent.

The Jabra Engage 55   delivers on quality, power, range, and security with ANC to ensure an immense user experience effortless from a trusted brand.

Refurbed Champions EUREFAS: Aiming to enable a strong circular economy throughout Europe

Refurbed, Ireland’s leading online marketplace for refurbished electronics, is today announcing its pledge, along with 16 other members of the European Refurbishment Association (EUREFAS), for a responsible refurbishment market. The goal of this pledge is to standardise renewed products with quality standard seals by 2023. With their active role in EUREFAS, refurbed are helping to shape a greener future as they encourage consumers to move towards environmentally friendly products.

In May 2022, refurbed attended the EUREFAS general assembly in Brussels where a new pledge was discussed. Members of EUREFAS pledged to take necessary actions to improve their business models in order to create a high-quality refurbishment sector for electronic devices in Europe. This includes standardising newly processed products with quality standard seals by 2023.

During the event members also had the opportunity to meet with crucial EU stakeholders from the European Commission. Members discussed key topics such as the Sustainable Products Regulation and the Right to Repair movement, both of which aim to influence industry and encourage consumers to change their consumption habits towards greener products.

Kilian Kaminski, Chair of the Working Group Communications and co-founder of refurbed, said:

“As a member of EUREFAS, we have the chance to define structures and guidelines for a relatively young industry together with competitors and partners. And not just on a local or national level, but across Europe. This creates transnational cooperation with members who pursue a similar mission. As co-founder of refurbed, it was important to me from the very beginning to be able to offer customers products of the highest quality – but this requires regulations and standards that also hold manufacturers accountable in order to make the refurbishment market trustworthy in the long term.”

He continued:

“I am delighted to see that the refurbishment market is growing increasingly popular among many countries in Europe. It is clear that there is a shift in consumer habits in many of refurbed’s markets, particularly Ireland where the number of Irish consumers buying refurbished devices is continuously increasing.”

The new EUREFAS member commitment is as follows:

EUREFAS members commit:

Towards a qualitative electronic equipment remanufacturing sector.

By signing this pledge, EUREFAS (European Refurbishment Association) members commit to take the following actions to improve their business models in order to create a high quality refurbishment sector for electronic equipment and high quality end products in Europe.

By committing to the pledge, the refurbishment industry and the quality of the products will be structured and the interests of consumers will be safeguarded. The association has set itself the goal of providing this new quality seal by 2023 with the help of its internal members and experienced external experts.

Augustin Becquet, President and founding member of EUREFAS, says: “As there are still no pan-European standards in the market for remanufactured electronics, this commitment signed by all EUREFAS members is an important step towards making the industry more reliable, enabling a circular economy and empowering consumers to make informed, sustainable purchasing decisions.”

The current scope of countries represented in the association currently includes 9 countries and 17 members. In addition to refurbed, Recommerce, ReWare, Tech2Com, Foxway, Olinn, Omocom, Panzerglass, Asgoodasnew, Backmarket, ReBuy, ITC (ReCall First Hand), Swappie, AfB Group, Enjoy Recondizionati/Prestige Group, FixFirst and Remarketed are also

Part of EUREFAS. According to the Commission, a circular economy like remanufacturing can create 700,000+ jobs in Europe by 2030.
