Review – The 1More Triple Driver Over Ear Headphones – #headphones #tech #review

I am a huge fan of headphones and now sport a pretty nice collection and it will continue to grow with more on the way, However I like something different, something that others dont have or that there is not a huge amount of people wearing them, I am not the type to join in the gang and get something because others have it and everyone else is wearing them. This set of headphones fits that bill perfectly and pretty much for the rest its good all round. Check out the unboxing first to see some more..

First of all the build quality here is excellent and to top it off they look completely different to what is considered an industry standard. The design to looks, the cans themselves even contain glass,or plastic underneath the outer cover piece and the colour..

These have a machined metal finish in Black and Gold and in the hand they feel solid, even the cable supplied is not cheap standard and again has the same finish to it too, Ports where the cable slots into again something different with sunked ports rather than the standard which also gives the jack more stability and making it more secure on both sides.

The headband itself is comfortable with leather padding top and bottom with a gold trim trying to imitate the genuine metal parts but its just a coloured leather (protein skin (As they call it) but compliments the headset well and having said that the flexibility on the band is also good and seems robust too but overall its comfortable even for long time usage so this is important.

The cans themselves are really nice, They are solid and look great in the Black and Gold and really robust and how they connect to the headband too is also really nice the whole setup complements each other well. The cups are clearly marked Left and Right and have no controls at all, this is a wired headset which is still a thing and I like it like that too although I do like my wireless headphones its nice to step back a bit and just plug and go,this is the thing here,There is no fumbling around for buttons or switches nor do you have to charge them either….

The joints on the headphones from band to cups is also really solid and not made with cheap plastic, this is where many headphones fail with a similar design but not these and I feel they will get great life out of them,The padding on the cups too is really soft and feel really nice on the ears even with long hours of use they just settle nicely on the ears and the padding is really soft to touch and speaking of comfort they dont clamp onto your head when you put them on you just feel comfort and sound dying from the outside. There is good movement at all angles on the cups with plenty of room to move any direction to suit everyones head,to look a them and how they are constructed you would not think they budge at all but they do and incorporate the requirements here.

The sound quality is great not that I am a qualified audiophile I have tested more than enough to state whats sounds good and what is crap basically,These are good with Piezo Ceramic Driver technology, the H1707 has a high frequency extension that reaches to 40kHz for high resolution files. The volume could have been a bit higher for my liking but it could be down to my device I am using right now or just me being me and as many know I like it loud but in all fairness they ar eloud enough and in a quite environment you will be pleased.

Overall I was happy with these and the presentation of the package is also really professional which I like to see you get nice extras in the box and overall you get a premium product even though they are a wired headset, Would I like to see them wireless? Well no, they look good as they are and stand out in the crowd. The only one small annoyance I had was when the metal clashes but its a small trade off to pay for a good headset all round.

Infographic – Wearable Technology – Myriad Aspects You Need To Know #Wearables #tech

One of the most challenging issues of the present century is public healthcare. While many countries have made a positive development in different fields the public healthcare is one of the most pertinent issues that create a cause for worry. There are a number of countries where the poor state of public healthcare poses challenging situation to the government. However, it is not only the poor section of the society who is afflicted by health issues. Apart from malnutrition the unregulated lifestyle also invites health issues. However, the wearable technology now seems to be poised to join hands with healthcare sector helping in forming a better world.

What are wearables?
Wearables indicate the functional technology that can be worn over the body in the form of accessories or apparel. For example, your Smartphone watch can be called a wearable. In the field of healthcare constant monitoring, accuracy of data and communicating any vital changes are paramount for the positive results. So, by the use of wearales the vital body data of an individual is collected and sent to the healthcare professional using enhanced communication methods.

Werables are here to stay
The popularity of wearables can be established from the fact that a palpable surge in the sales of Wearales can be seen. For example the Smartwatches that sold worth $15 million in 2014, are expected to touch the figure of $373 million by the end of this decade. And this is not the isolated case. Many wearales are experiencing surge in the total sales

Practical benefits of wearables
Ironically, a huge portion of poverty-ridden population lives in far flung areas that are generally inhospitable and thus it is not conducive for the healthcare professionals to reach there. Devoid of regular health checkups and consultant, the underprivileged population start experience deterioration in their health. However, if such population is encouraged to use the wearables, it would be easier to consistently monitor their vital health stats like heartbeat, BP and pulse rate. Besides, it will help in storage of such data and help in forming digital medical history.
The use of wearables helps in proper monitoring of the lifestyle and thus aims at preventing the diseases or disorders rather than finding a cure when the diseases has already attacked and weakened the immune system.

This info-graphic tells some interesting facts about Wearable Devices which collects the health stats like Heart rate, Blood Pressure, Sleep time and similar health data. Know some more interesting facts in the infographic attached with thanks to NEERJA SOFTWARES

EngageSmith invests €250,000 in development of Millennial Friendly Index.

Designed with input from both millennials and industry, the Index is a software tool that enables organisations to increase millennial engagement and reduce attrition. EngageSmith invested €250,000 into researching, developing and testing the software behind the Millennial Friendly Index. The benefits of the Index include employer branding, improving millennial employee retention and increasing engagement and performance.

EngageSmith, the millennial specialist, today announces the launch of the Millennial Friendly Index that will certify how millennial friendly employers are. Designed with input from both millennials and industry, the Index is a software tool that enables organisations to increase millennial engagement and reduce attrition.

The Index rates organisations’ millennial friendliness across a range of criteria that have been identified by industry experts and millennials. The results will enable individual companies to understand what is required to engage with and motivate millennials. Organisations that pass the exacting test will achieve millennial friendly certification. The benefits of the Millennial Friendly Index include employer branding, improving millennial employee retention and increasing engagement and performance.

EngageSmith invested €250,000 initially researching, developing and testing the software behind the Millennial Friendly Index. The funding for this came from the recent €400,000 private equity investment in the company.

The Millennial Friendly Index will be announced on an annual basis with the inaugural Index released this September. The Index will rate the top millennial friendly companies in Ireland across all industries.

Lisa Smith, founder of EngageSmith, said:

“Following constant queries by millennials and Gen Zs on what companies are the best to work for, I recognised that there is a gap in the market for a tool to bridge the gap between industry and millennials.

“The millennial generation are quick to voice negative opinions on social media, for example, if they’ve had a bad experience with a company, this inevitably is posted online, damaging the brand of the company. As 79% of Irish millennials use online job sites and 65% use social media to find jobs, potential employees are often dissuaded from applying for companies with poor online employer reputations.

We believe that our Millennial Friendly Index will be the go-to tool for millennials and to plan their careers by selecting companies that understand their needs. Our Index also gives companies the levers needed to help improve their online rating, making them more attractive to the top talent

“As the economy is reaching full employment, the talent pool available to companies is shrinking. If companies want to reduce high attrition rates and associated costs of hiring and training new employees, then it’s important that they get the millennial friendly certification as soon as possible.”

“We’re on a strong growth path and the Millennial Friendly Index will enable us to achieve our expansion goals in Ireland and overseas. We will launch the Index in the US and UK early next year and look to be make it available globally in the next two years.”

EngageSmith works with large Irish-based indigenous and multinational companies, helping them companies to increase their retention of millennials and grow productivity.

Review – The Groov-e Wireless Sports Headphones with LED neckband #headphones #sports

Wireless sports headphones are in no shortage with lots on offer to accommodate all kinds of folk and all kinds of pocket, Typically speaking on those terms you get what you pay for and in this instance you get a little more than you bargained for with the extra LED lighting which is ideal for night running and so on to make you visible which is important with the dark evenings creeping in and not forgetting the mornings.

The Groove-e LED Wireless headphones come packed as standard with a nice presentation as always with lots of information on the exterior which is good to see from a consumer’s point of view to get quick access to all the features on board. Check out the unboxing below for more on that.

Quality

The build quality is good here with an improvement over past offerings and they are also light and well constructed,The headphones have a good texture and grip and can easily be folded up into a pouch provided in the packaging which is handy for carrying about if you are not the type to leave them around your neck..

Features

Features are aplenty and what is expected in todays offerings for headphones, first off they are IPX6 rated which is sweatproof which is enough for the average user and as mentioned they are robust and will take plenty of knocks should you drop them. There is a built-in mic so you can take calls which seemed pretty clear to me and there is good sound with a decent bass level to it too. Controls are small but prominent enough for easy navigation and like with any new product you will find these controls with ease after some use..

On the right side is the charging port via micro USB and Play, volume up/down toggles which also serve as a multifunction button. On the left side you have the LED control which has several settings, ON/OFF and the option LED light setting which is solid flash, and intermediate flash and constantly lit.

Sound

They sound good not bad for its price point and the average user will be happy with whats on offer, Depending on volume levels and music you may find some distortion but overall they reproduce highs, lows and mids adequately and calls are crisp and clear..

Battery life

An important feature for many,However these just have a120mAh battery on board and give a playing time of up to 8 hrs according to the manufacturer and they seem to be on par with the claim. The charge time is quite long and for those used to quick charge may find this annoying but it’s not really an issue if only used twice a day for example, In the mornings or in the evenings when commuting to work, doing your fitness exercise or both you will see a day easily and just charge overnight.

For me these are not the typical kind of headphones I wear but they do a good job at their price point and for the added safety feature with the LED strip on board they give you that bit more for your money and also keeping you visible in the early hours or late evenings which for me is an invaluable feature not seen to often. They are also comfortable but will take a few minutes to get used to plus there is additional extra buds included which is nice to see.

These can be purchased from Tesco,Argos, and at www.groov-e.co.uk  They cost around £30 -£40 depending on where you shop and they fall in par with similar offering available but giving you that added LED safety aspect thrown in.

Garmin announces the Vector 3/3S – A completely redesigned pedal-based power meter.

Garmin International today announced the Vector 3/3S, a completely redesigned pedal-based power meter. Unlike previous versions of Garmin Vector power meters, the Vector 3/3S does not have a pod and installs like any other pedal, making it easy to transfer from one bike to another without professional assistance. Once installed, the dual-sensing Vector 3 measures total power, left-right balance, cadence and advanced cycling dynamics while the single-sensing Vector 3S reports cadence and total power.

The Vector 3/3S features a sleek new design providing cyclists with greater cornering clearance and improved stack height for smarter ergonomics, while LED lights on the pedals display important setup and maintenance information. The Vector 3/3S is a direct-measurement power meter – the sensors are housed in the pedals – so it delivers reliable, accurate data1 on every training session.

“As cyclists aim to beat their personal best on their next race or Gran Fondo, the affordable and innovative Vector 3/3S will help them ride farther, stronger and more often,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “By redesigning the pedal and eliminating the pod, cyclists have the ability to quickly transfer from bike to bike and still receive advanced performance data that takes their training to the next level.”

With the Vector 3 dual-sensing pedal-based power meter, cyclists have the ability to see right and left leg power independently. Measuring cadence, total power, left-right balance and advanced cycling dynamics, the Vector 3 shows cyclists how and where they are producing power and helps them tailor their training around their specific strengths and weaknesses to improve their form. The Vector 3 tracks Seating/Standing Position to determine when and how long cyclists are in each so they can gauge position effectiveness, while Power Phases show how riders are currently producing power with every pedal stroke, and Platform Center Offset helps determine where power is applied on the pedal, ensuring proper cleat position.

The affordable, single-sensing Vector 3S uses the forces detected on the left pedal to measure cadence and approximate total power, and can easily be upgraded later to the dual-sensing system.

The Vector 3/3S fully integrates with the Garmin cycling ecosystem, including the Varia™ Rearview Radar, Varia UT800 Smart Headlight and the new Edge® 1030. ANT+ ® technology not only lets cyclists receive structured indoor training by pairing their Vector 3/3S with power-based training systems like TrainerRoad, Zwift and more, but they will also gain access to compatible 3rd party training platforms including Strava and TrainingPeaks™. Meanwhile, Bluetooth® technology allows post-ride analysis, data sharing, mapping, route planning and more to be integrated into training through Garmin Connect™ – an online community where people can connect and compete by joining challenges, encourage each other’s successes and share their triumphs via social media.

The Vector 3/3S features up to 120 hours of battery life. The Vector 3 has a suggested retail price of £849.99/€999.99 and £499.99/€599.99 for the Vector 3S. The optional Vector 3S upgrade pedal has a suggested retail price of £399.99/ €499.99.

Garmin introduces the Edge1030 – the ultimate GPS bike computer with enhanced navigation, performance and safety features.

Garmin today announced the Edge 1030, a high-end cycling computer that combines enhanced navigation, performance and cycling awareness into a lightweight design.

Using billions of miles of ride data from Garmin Connect, new Trendline popularity routing provides cyclists with the best on and off-road routes possible, allowing them to ride with greater confidence. Whether hitting the trails or streets, cyclists will benefit from the Edge 1030’s preloaded Garmin Cycle Maps that feature turn-by-turn directions for all terrains, and alerts to sharp curves ahead.

Ideal for riding no matter the weather conditions, the Edge 1030 features a 3.5-inch high-resolution, capacitive touch panel display that is quick and responsive – even when wet or used with gloves. Ambient light sensors automatically adjust the screen’s brightness making important key training metrics and advanced performance monitoring tools easier than ever to view day or night.

“Whether a competitor, commuter or adventure-seeker, we’ve found a better ride for all cyclists with the newest addition from Garmin – the Edge 1030,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. “This innovative GPS cycling computer is compatible with our suite of cycling products, including the new Vector™ 3 and 3S power meter, as well as our Varia™ cycling awareness products like the Varia Rearview Radar and the Varia UT800 Smart Headlight. This means cyclists can now ride faster, farther and more often thanks to the most advanced, intuitive and motivating ride data to date.”

Enhancements in navigation and course planning on the Edge 1030 were made with the cyclist in mind. New Trendline popularity routing uses billions of miles of ride data from Garmin Connect to provide riders with the best road, mountain or gravel routes that are aggregated from those most traveled by fellow cyclists. Using the improved and revamped Course Creator in Garmin Connect allows cyclists to generate even more bike-friendly routes based on popularity data.

Preloaded on the Edge 1030, the Garmin Cycle Map includes turn-by-turn navigation and new alerts that notify riders of sharp curves ahead. While riding, cyclists will receive elevation information, see points of interest and be able to search for addresses – all right on their screen. By inputting a distance and starting direction, the Edge 1030 will give riders up to three round-trip routes to choose from and will guide cyclists back to the route if they stray away. Built-in GPS, GLONASS and altimeter sensor capabilities also provide accurate ride data so cyclists know how far, fast and high they ride.

While out for a ride, the Edge 1030’s smart connectivity features mean cyclists won’t have to reach for their phone. New rider-to-rider messaging lets cyclists send prewritten messages directly from their Edge 1030 to other riders using the Edge 1030. Cyclists can also view and respond to missed calls or texts with prewritten replies. Built-in incident detection will automatically send a cyclist’s location to emergency contacts if they run into trouble, while GroupTrack and LiveTrack let friends, family and other cyclists keep track of a rider’s location in real time.

The Edge 1030 comes with the latest version of Strava Live Segments, featuring more competition and better segments. Cyclists who upgrade to Strava Premium will gain access to everything from real-time races against their personal best, to the most popular nearby segments. Cyclists can star their favorite Strava segments, and while riding, will receive an upcoming segment alert as they approach a start. Riders will then receive second-by-second, real-time comparisons of their performance against their most relevant competitor and will race against their actual speeds – not just their average. The new Segment Explore feature lets riders view popular and marquee segments around them directly on their Edge. Preloaded with the new Strava Routes Connect IQ app, starred routes can now be wirelessly synced to the Edge 1030 so cyclists can navigate and compete on their favorite Strava segments at the same time.

Installed on the Edge 1030, the new TrainingPeaks Connect IQ app puts daily workouts right on the Edge device. It guides cyclists through a workout in real time – complete with intensity targets and interval durations. After a workout, syncing to TrainingPeaks will provide cyclists with a detailed analysis of their ride, as well as the ability to measure progress toward their goals.

Linking the Best Bike Split Race Sync app with an Edge 1030 means cyclists will have all their current race plans available at their fingertips. Best Bike Split allows riders to see how changes in weight, power and drag affect their goal race time, while helping to create the perfect power plan for race day.

The Edge 1030 works with the new flush mount, keeping the device in line with the handlebars – not above them – giving it a lower profile. Featuring up to 20 hours of battery life, the Edge 1030 is compatible with the new Garmin Charge™ integrated battery pack accessory for in-ride charging and power, giving riders an additional 40 hours to finish even on the longest of rides. The Edge 1030 has a suggested retail price of £499.99/€599. A bundle option, which includes a premium heart rate monitor as well as cadence and speed sensors, has a suggested retail price of £549.99/€679

Review – WD My Passport Ultra 1TB White Gold Hard Drive Model by @Pat_Seery #HardDrives

Pat Seery takes the chair on this review which is the WD Passport Ultra 1TB White Gold Hard Drive Model WDBTLG0010BGD-WESN

Whats in the box ?

1TB Passport Ultra (White/Gold) Drive 1 USB 3.0 cable Manuals simple and the best way sure what more would you want in the packaging but check out the unboxing below if you missed it….

I own a few of the WD passport range in various sizes from 1tb like this one to 4TB drives It’s a good solid drive and very light. The 1 TB drive uses a thinner enclosure that measures 13.5 mm (0.53”) ) so easily packed in to a backpack for quick backups if you`re out doing some vidiography or photography. I’m not particularly enamoured with the new design aesthetic but at this moment in time the drive is fit for purpose.

This is a fast little drive. Read/Write times are good and the WD utilities that come on the drive give you disk management and security and also allow you to backup all your social media stuff directly to the drive pretty handy if you’re on social media alot and upload photos and video directly from your phone so you can now back them all up on to this nice discrete little drive and keep all your precious memories safe and secure.

Speaking of safe and secure there is locking software (AES-256 hardware encryption) that comes with the WD utilities but a word of warning here if you use this WRITE YOUR PASSWORD DOWN as even WD tell you in a warning that if you forget your password even they CANNOT recover your data so be forewarned.

Just like their predecessors, the new Western Digital My Passport Ultra drives are covered by a three-year limited warranty. The new drives are available from wd.com as well as from select retailers.
