One Plus ditches its silly invite system. But not for the One Plus 2. #OnePlus #OnePlusOne by @jimboireland

One Plus have announced its ditched the silly invite system in order to buy the device, this means now the device can be bought globally without having to wait for an invite or getting one from a friend. This is good news for one of the best affordable handsets to hit the market over the last year.I was never a fan of the invite idea but it worked out well for them in the end and they produced a super device so hats off to them.

farewell_Blog

Starting today, the One will be available without an invite. Forever.

“That’s right. In our first big celebration of the One’s successful year, we are opening up sales globally for everyone, every day of the week. We have always wanted to put great products into the hands of more people. And, we now feel confident that we have matured enough to handle the increased complexity that comes along with opening up sales completely.

With the experiences we’ve gained with the One, we will be far more prepared to make the same transition with the OnePlus 2. Yes, the 2 will initially launch with invites. We’re committed to maintaining razor-thin margins in order to give as much value as possible back to our users, and this drastically increases our risk. The OnePlus 2 will bring the challenges that come along with a brand new product, and initially, our invite system will help us to manage that risk. It also helps us to be sure that every OnePlus 2 user gets the amazing experience that they deserve.”

In the meantime there is a promotion running for One Plus fans for 24HRS

For just 24 hours, we’re offering a 75% discount on OnePlus Flip Covers and Premium Screen Protectors. Additionally, Bamboo StyleSwap covers will now be available without an invite (while supplies last). Please note that these promotions are only valid in the following regions: USA/Canada, the European Union, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Have multiple Desktops in one PC with Virtual Desktops in #Windows10 by @Tiwaash #Microsoft

How cool it would be if we had the same system at work as well as at home without having to switch the user all the time? I know it would make life much much easier organising stuffs separately for all kinds of personalities I possess. Like a complete desktop for travel related stuffs, then other for blogging, another one for office, one more for photography…and so on… Well folks the good guys developing the Windows10 at Microsoft seem to have heard this need and now Virtual Desktops come in built with Windows10. Read on to know more about Virtual Desktops on Windows 10.

http://az648995.vo.msecnd.net/win/2015/04/Image1a-1024×645.jpg

The team at Microsoft had a few goals while developing the Virtual Desktop. Here are some high-level goals which they identified:

  • Give you more desktop space to group related windows
  • Help you quickly locate and switch to any window or group of windows
  • Let you easily re-organize your groups and move windows as tasks evolve
  • Keep you in control of the degree of separation between your grouped windows
Add as many desktops as you need

Design
To add a new desktop simply click the task view button on your taskbar and click the “new desktop” button. Just like how you can run as many application windows as you like, there’s also no limit to how many desktops you can create.

Task view is also where you can go to switch between desktops. The top part of this view shows previews of the windows you have open, just like Alt+Tab. However, task view also is able to filter this list when you create virtual desktops, so only the relevant windows appear. Under that you will find the list of desktops you have open. The labels along with accurate previews make it easy to find what you want to switch to. However, what if you’re trying to find that music player and you forgot which desktop you had it on? With hover preview it really is a breeze. Just hover over each desktop preview and Windows will let you peek into any desktop to see what windows are open there. That’s right, no need to switch to one desktop at a time to search for the window you’re looking for! You can even click on the app preview from task view to bring that window straight to the top.

You can now drag any window into the desktop you want to move it to right from task view. You can even drag a thumbnail to the “new desktop” button to create and move it to a new desktop in one step.

For the keyboard inclined users, you’ll appreciate some of these shortcut combos to accelerate your virtual desktop experience.

WIN + CTRL + LEFT/RIGHT: Switch to previous or next desktop
WIN + CTRL + D: Create a new desktop
WIN + CTRL + F4: Close the current desktop
WIN + TAB: Launch task view

Never lose your Android device again with #FindMyPhone. #Android #Google by @jimboireland

Millions of phones get lost or stolen every year worldwide and when it comes to finding them it can be a hassle, although there is a find my phone app on Android already this can make things a bit easier because you can now do it from your desktop or home PC. This would be handy for an actual theft or if you misplaced your device at home or at a friends perhaps.

All you need to do is sign in with your Google Account and your device obviously must be on and you must have the latest update of the Google search app on your device.

It all may sound familiar to Android users as you can use device manager alongside other apps to locate and erase data etc.Now from your desktop this can be done which is quite handy and it works here in Ireland too..As you can see on image above you can then ring your device, then below as pictured an icon will appear on your device and you phone will ring for 5 mins.Pretty neat.
