KillBiller iPhone Launch Eliminates Mobile Overspending.Get it on iOS. #Apps #KillBiller by @jimboireland #Irish

In 2014 you may remember the KillBiller app we spoke about which hit Android well now the wait is over and for those on iOS its now available to download and of course its free.

With so many plans available from various networks today it can be tough to decide what suits each individuals needs,KillBiller is here to make this choice for you and will be welcome by all to save money in the long run,in a world of SMS,Data or Voice KillBiller will find the right plan for you,to note SMS is dying a slow death and Data is the way forward these days with most of us accessing content on our devices..But everyone is different and here is the solution to save money.

Daniel McCarthy explains to us about the App..

Each year, Irish people waste millions of euro overspending on mobile phone subscriptions. The
National Consumer Agency* estimate that on average people save €288 per year when they
change mobile phone plans, yet only 9% of Irish people switch provider each year. A primary
reason why people don’t switch is confusion in selecting the right plan.
The KillBiller application, which has been used over 16,000 times by Irish Android mobile phone
users, eliminates this confusion by analysing subscribers usage and recommending the mobile
phone plans that will save them the most money. KillBiller is now available on iPhone.
What is KillBiller?
KillBiller is a mobile application that saves people money on their mobile phone bill. KillBiller looks
at every call, text, and MegaByte sent and works out the best mobile phone provider and plan for
you. Released on Android in late 2014, from 29th April KillBiller will be available on iOS devices.
How much can people save?
The average savings for users are over €20 per month, or between €200 and €300 per year.
How does KillBiller actually work?

KillBiller analyses users’ actual phone usage against all of the plans available from Irish operators.

The app takes details of the calls, messages and data used by you on your phone and, based on
this, calculates how much you would have spent on each plan. Having found the right plan,
KillBiller offers users the convenience of switching networks within the app.

Everything is automatic – People don’t need to know how many minutes, texts, or megabytes they’ve used.

kb1

Are people switching networks?
Despite the fact that the average saving for people who switched mobile phone plans in Ireland is
a huge €288, last year only 9% of Irish people changed mobile phone provider. Research indicates
that one reason why the switching rate is low is that it is both difficult and confusing to determine
the best plan to be on. Irish people are wasting millions of euro on unused minutes, allowances,
and unlimited plans, when the average usage profile only uses 207 minutes, sends 129 texts, and
uses 1.3 GB of data (for smartphones)**.
The KillBiller app has been available for download on Android since late 2014 and has seen its user
base increase in recent months as a result of prominent media coverage both online (Irish Times,
Irish Independent, Irish Tech News, thejournal.ie) and on radio (Matt Cooper on Today FM,
Newstalk Breakfast, the Sunday Business Show). On the back of this success, the application is now
all set for its much anticipated launch on Apple’s iOS.
How does KillBiller make money?
KillBiller’s main revenue model is based upon commission for people switching operators from
within the application. Currently the application supports all bill pay plans, but prepay plans will be
added very shortly aiming to have pre-pay functionality in June.

Fixture-based Hurling Game launched by Gaelic Players Association and Zoodazzle. #Android #iOS #Hurling #Gaming

The GPA HURLING App, a mobile game for Android and iOS, was released recently to coincide with the National Hurling League final between Cork and Waterford. Fans of rival teams compete against each other in real-time and virtually determine the result of an upcoming GAA fixture.

The official Gaelic Players Association (GPA) Game lets you play the ancient Gaelic Game of Hurling and determine which county wins the next real-life fixture. Flick the hurling sliotar over the bar and your score counts for the GAA team you selected.

Developed under a partnership between Zoodazzle and the Gaelic Players Association (GPA), the game uses real-time mobile technology to continuously update team scores and sponsor images within the actual gameplay. These updates are immediately visible on each fan’s smartphone.
According to Ciaran Davies, CEO of Zoodazzle, “We recognised from an early stage the opportunity for our technology within sports sponsorship and as a result developed the SportsCarver platform. Sport sponsorship has become a triangle of association between the team, the sponsors and the fans. Using SportsCarver we developed a game for the fans which is driven by team loyalty and supported by seamlessly integrated sponsor images. Unlike banner ads, sponsors can now connect with fans in the moment not take them out of it. In addition sponsor brand images can be dynamically updated and targeted at fans based on time, location or audience type.”

In the closing stages of the first fixture, almost 2 virtual frees per second were taken by fans. Within a week of its launch, fans had scored over 120,000 times and the game has entered both the iPhone and Google Play charts.
GPA Chief Executive Dessie Farrell stated that “Our technology partnership with Zoodazzle is opening up exciting opportunities for the association within the digital sport sector. Enabling our partners to engage positively with fans through the GPA Hurling App is furthering our objective of supporting players to be their personal best. Over 10,000 downloads demonstrate the appetite amongst fans for mobile games based around our national sports.”

Choose a GAA team jersey from the two Counties playing in an UPCOMING REAL-LIFE FIXTURE and decide which team wins the hurling match by scoring as many points as you can.
See in real-time your score combined with other fans’ scores. Watch the countdown clock and see in real-time who is winning the competition.

PLAY AGAINST OTHER GAA FANS
The GPA Hurling Game is the first fan-based game where your score determines the winner. This isn’t fantasy league. Instead you decide who wins by playing as often as possible and encouraging your friends to do the same.

There are two modes PRACTICE and COMPETITION. When in competition mode a countdown clock runs until the players actually go head-to-head on the hurling pitch. Support the players by playing this game and then support them on the day by attending the match.
The game is quite good with great graphics and sound so enjoy folks.

We were pretty amazed when we were introduced to the idea of Cloop in February this year. The good folks at Cloop striving to provide the world with a tangle free solution has finally hit the Kickstarter for crowd funding. If you still find it confusing what I’m talking about, continue reading.

About Cloop

Cloop was built to help keep busy people organized and keep cables and cords, such as, headphones and smartphone chargers, neat and tangle free. Messy cables have a knack for wrapping themselves into endless knots and taking up far too much space in drawers, and storage spaces. In fact the natural state of cables is “tangled”. In the past, many solutions have responded to this problem with simple or impractical solutions. But, with today’s new tech and the brainpower of creative engineers, your best solution to tangled cables and cords has arrived. Cloop™ is patent pending.

Why Cloop?

  • Eliminate Cord Clutter
  • Makes Traveling Easier
  • Organize Your Living Area
  • Organize Your Workspace
  • Prevent Entanglement
  • Utilize More Drawer Space
  • Exercise Without Headphone Malfunctions
  • Easy Cable Identification
  • Tidy Up Family Charging Stations
  • Prevent Cable Breakage
  • Save Yourself Tons of Time

Specifications:

Cloop is available in two sizes called the Small Cloop & Large Cloop, with lengths of 54.33 mm and 74 mm respectively while the Width and thickness of  12.2 mm & 5.7 mm respectively.

Cloops are available in White, Red and Black colors.

Cloop is made from an elastic silicone material that provides it with the flexibility to fit around Small to Large sized cables, using our two different band sizes. Cloop has a neodymium magnet located at both ends, which makes Cloop easy to snap shut and easy to open.

Limited Edition Cloop Base:

The Cloop base increases workflow by keeping your cables within reach. The base can be attached to almost any flat surface such as a desk, wall or sidetable. The micro suction silicone surface creates a partial vacuum to keep the base from moving around when in use. You can also affix the base to a wall, or the side of a desk using a 3M Command strip (not included).

Smartphones are making children borderline autistic, says Dr Iain McGilchrist. #Mobile #Autism

Smartphones and tablets can be of great benefits to children suffering with Autism,we have specified apps from the likes of Apple and Samsung which enables children with Autism to learn,of course this is a specialist subject and children are well supervised in this area,”Children struggle to read emotions and are less empathetic than a generation ago because they spend too much time using tablets and smartphones, leading psychiatrist Dr McGilchrist has warned.”Today its true we do see kids much younger than before with mobile phones and tablets.

In an article in the Daily Telegraph DR McGilchrist says the following

Iain McGilchrist said children as young as five were less able to read facial expressions because of too much interaction with technology.

He added that he had evidence that more pupils were displaying borderline “autistic” behaviour. Dr McGilchrist, a former Oxford literary scholar who retrained in medicine, said he had heard of increasing numbers of teachers who had to explain to their pupils how to make sense of human faces.

However, experts have said children’s lack of ability to read emotions may be down to cultural or language barriers and not just technology.

Mr McGilchrist said he’d heard from teachers who said they now have to explain to their pupils how to make sense of the human face more than a few years ago.

Dr McGilchrist said he has been contacted by teachers of five to seven year olds who have estimated that roughly a third of their pupils find it difficult to keep attention, read faces.

In an interview with the Telegraph, he said: “These teachers have been teaching for 30 years and had found only a couple of people not able to do these simple tasks. People are increasingly finding it difficult to communicate at an emotional level in what appears to be features of autism.”

The author of The Master and his Emissary, which explored the functions of the left and right hemispheres of the brain, added that there is evidence youngsters are “less empathic” than four decades ago.

He said “plausible” theories as to why children are less empathic are to do with the disruptive effects of technology in the family unit.

Dr McGilchrist said: “Children spend more time engaging with machines and with virtual reality than they used to in the past where they don’t have to face the consequences of real life. In virtual environments they don’t have to interpret the subtle cues of real-life environments like when they are playing with children in the woods.

He also said: “Small children are not getting the same individual face-to-face attention as before and when they are at home with the family, the family is multi-tasking and the child is in front of the TV or an iPad screen which is quite worrying.”

“It is hardly surprising that we are not as good as reading human faces and interacting with human beings if we are engaging with the virtual world.”

However, others have said the reasons behind an apparent lack of empathy are complex. Dr Nadja Reissland, a psychologist and senior lecturer at Durham University, said saying children are less able to read human emotion was “a big statement”.

She added: “It could be true but we need to know the background of these children. They might not want to talk about their emotions or might not be used to. They might also come from different cultures where they are normally not supposed to show emotions or English may not be their first language.”

Nokia reiterates it currently has no plans to manufacture or sell consumer handsets.”
