Sony launches BRAVIA XR A80J OLED TV with cognitive intelligence in Europe. #Sony #Bravia #TV

Sony has informed that pre-orders will soon open in March for its innovative BRAVIA XR A80J 4K HDR OLED TVs and the entry-level X80J/X81J 4K LED TVs. The former are part of the much anticipated BRAVIA XR line-up based on the new Cognitive Processor XR™, which employs a completely new processing method going beyond conventional AI, designed to replicate the ways humans see and hear.

When we see objects, we unconsciously focus on certain points. Cognitive Processor XR™, powered by cognitive intelligence, divides the screen into numerous zones and detects where the ‘focal point’ is in the picture. While conventional Artificial Intelligence (AI) can only detect and analyse picture elements like colour, contrast and detail individually, the new Cognitive Processor XR can cross-analyse an array of elements at once, just as our brains do. By doing so, all elements are adjusted in conjunction with each other for best final outcome, so everything in the scene is synchronised and lifelike – something that conventional AI cannot achieve.

Cognitive Processor XR can also analyse sound position in the signal so the sound matches precisely with what’s on the screen. In addition, it upconverts any sound to 3D surround sound, to deliver supreme realism with an immersive soundscape. It learns, analyses and understands unprecedented amounts of data and intelligently optimises every pixel, frame and scene for the most lifelike picture and sound Sony has ever delivered.

BRAVIA XR A80J 4K HDR OLED TVs feature the exclusive BRAVIA CORE service. Pre-loaded on all new BRAVIA XR models, users can enjoy a selection of the latest SPE premium and classic titles and the largest IMAX Enhanced collection. BRAVIA CORE is the first in the industry to feature Pure Stream™ technology, achieving near lossless UHD BD equivalent quality with streaming up to 80 Mbps.

By combining revolutionary picture and sound technologies enabled by Cognitive Processor XR, an array of next-generation gaming features such as 4K 120fps and the breadth of content from the exclusive BRAVIA CORE service, BRAVIA XR A80J 4K HDR OLED TVs are a compelling proposition for anyone looking to elevate their viewing and gaming experiences to another level.

The X80J/X81J 4K LED TVs are well-rounded smart TVs incorporating several established Sony technologies for great TV-viewing, whatever the content. Similarly to BRAVIA XR A80J, they come with Google TV. You can use your voice remote to easily find your favourite movies, shows, and music or ask Google to find a specific title, search by genre, or get personalised recommendations on what to watch.

Prima Projector: The Android-Powered Pocket Cinema.

Tired of watching your favourite shows and YouTube videos on your phone? With this new pocket projector, you’ll never need to squint again. The Prima Projector looks and acts just like a smartphone, but it can project all of your content—videos, apps, games, and more—up to 200 inches in full HD.

Prima is anything but your typical pocket projector. It merges the best features of smartphones, smart TVs, and gaming devices into a complete entertainment system that fits in your pocket.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Projection powered by Texas Instruments DLP
  • Android-powered quad-core processor
  • 8GB internal storage
  • 1080p Full HD projection (with 3D and 4K support)
  • Built-in speakers
  • Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity (plus USB and HDMI)
  • Keystone automatic angle correction
  • Weighs under 200g

Prima transforms any surface into smart cinema, and it goes anywhere. It’s a solution for big-screen viewing at home, those who travel frequently, or anyone who is tired of staring at a small screen.

And now, Prima is on sale for nearly 60% off during the New Year’s sale. Along with the FREE accessories you get with purchase (tripod, remote, charger, and HDMI cable), plus FREE shipping, you’ll save over €500 if you order before the sale ends.

Below, we’ll go into a bit more detail on Prima’s features to let you know what you can expect from this pocket cinema.

200-inch TI DLP projection

Prima’s projection tech was developed by Texas Instruments. TI’s DLP projection is regarded by many to be the best for portable projectors for its picture quality, lightweight components, and reliability.

Not only that, but DLP tech also supports 3D video. Can you imagine projecting a 3D movie at 200 inches? It’s like you’re living inside the film.

Another advantage of TI’s DLP tech is the extra brightness. Prima is about 4x brighter than other pocket projectors, and this has a huge impact on the overall picture quality. Brighter projection doesn’t just mean a brighter picture. It means more defined colours across the spectrum for an image that never has that grainy projector look.

Android OS

Prima has an RK3128 CPU 4 core processor and runs Android 7.1 OS. It doesn’t just look like a smartphone, it practically is one. You can do nearly everything on Prima that you can do on your phone—download apps, text and call, stream videos, play games—but on Prima, you can do it on the big screen.

Thanks to Prima’s processing power, you’ll have access to all the apps in the Google Play store. When you turn it on, the dashboard looks a lot like that of a smart TV. Simply select your apps or downloaded content directly from the projector and enjoy. Netflix, YouTube, Office, Steam—all of your favourite apps are supported.

Super Portable

Prima Projector is marketed as the most portable pocket projector ever made. And this is largely true. Prima is the same size and weight as an iPhone 8, making it the first “pocket” projector that actually fits in your pocket.

Here are the measurements:

Size: 146 mm X 176 mm X 18 mm

Weight: 188 g

But size isn’t the only factor in portability. Prima also comes with features and accessories that make it a lot less stressful to carry around. The most important is the sliding door that protects the projection lens. Most portable projectors damage easily—especially the lens—making them a lot less portable than they seem. But you can take Prima on the go with a lot more confidence.

Prima also comes with a protecting sleeve for safer portability, but it won’t do much besides protecting the touchscreen from scratches and scuffs. For increased durability, we recommend adding a carrying case to your order.

50% More Battery Life

Most projector users these days will likely be using their devices indoors. Plugged into a power source, Prima will function indefinitely. If you choose to bring Prima on the go, you’ll enjoy 3 hours of video playback per charge. This isn’t the best battery life out there, but it’s about 50% longer than the average projector lasts.

However, if you’re using Prima for audio only, you’ll get about 30 hours of life, which is significantly more life than you’ll get from the average Bluetooth speaker. This makes Prima a great accessory for parties and gatherings even if you’re not going to project something.

Mirror and Cast

Prima succeeds at mirroring and casting seamlessly from just about any device. It has built-in Apple and Android screen-sharing software to prevent any distortion or weird colour alterations, so you can mirror and share with a simple click.

You can also cast anything to Prima. No matter what apps or content you have on your phone or tablet, you can instantly cast to Prima and enjoy all of the features on the big screen without losing the functionality of your device.

These features boost the social value of Prima and increase its portable appeal. Groups of friends can easily enjoy games, photos, or videos on Prima just by using their phones.

Hi-Fi Speakers

One of the worst things about most portable projectors is the dismal speakers. They’re often imperceptible to the ear and the sound quality is terrible. Despite its size, Prima packs a powerful speaker inside. This is one of the reasons that its manufacturers encourage people to use it as a Bluetooth speaker too.

The Hi-Fi speakers are plenty loud. They can easily project to a living room or meeting room full of people. Of course, they’re not as good as big external speakers, but for on-the-go use, they are more than acceptable.

Universal Compatibility

Prima is compatible with every type of device and operating system. Even though it has an Android OS, you’ll be able to use it with all types of devices. It even has software built in to optimize its performance with Apple products, so you’ll be able to mirror and stream via AirPlay without issues.

You don’t need wireless connectivity to connect to Prima, either. You can connect via:

  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth
  • HDMI
  • USB
  • 3.5 mm jack (headphone jack)
  • And more

You can even connect gaming consoles like PS4 and 5, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for immersive gaming at up to 200 inches.

Touchscreen Controls

Finally, we had to mention Prima’s controls. Much like a smartphone, you can access all of Prima’s controls from a touchscreen surface. This makes it a lot easier to navigate, select, and change settings than on other projectors. Because we’re so used to using our thumbs on our phones, Prima’s controls are intuitive.

You won’t have to deal with buttons, dials or confusing menus here. Everything is touch-ready and optimized for modern smart-tech users.

To make things easier, Prima comes with a remote control, so you can kick back and operate it just like you would a TV.

New Year’s Sale: Take 60% Off a Prima Projector

To bring in the new year, Prima is offering a stellar deal on its pocket projector. For a limited time, you can grab a Prima Projector at 50% off and take an extra 10% off at checkout. That’s over €400 in savings for a 200-inch HD projector and entertainment system.

Not only that, but you’ll also get FREE global shipping and loads of free accessories boxed with your projector. The free accessories include a tripod, a remote control, an HDMI cable, and a charger.

Prima makes it incredibly easy to use this projector right out of the box, including everything you need. And now, it’s easier than ever to get one at an affordable price. Check out more of what Prima can do and get yours now before the sale ends.

The top TV moments of 2020. #TV #Entertainment.

With 2020 drawing to an end, Currys PC World have taken a look back on some of the most iconic and memorable TV moments of 2020..

  • David Attenborough appealed to the public to save our planet in his heartfelt documentary film A Life on Our Planet
  • Joe Exotic became an international sensation as Tiger King united millions over lockdown
  • Some of the top-rated TV shows of 2020 listed on JustWatch include the BBC’s I May Destroy You and Normal People, ITV’s Quiz, Netflix’s The Last Dance and the Queen’s Gambit, and Prime Video’s Little Fires Everywhere

With national lockdowns restricting us to our homes, TV has played a pivotal role in uniting the nation in 2020. While filming of new content ground to halt earlier in the year, fortunately many fixtures have returned, including reality TV favourites Strictly Come DancingThe Great British Bake Off and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here. These saw the first single-sex dance couple hit the ballroom (boxer Nicola Adams OBE and dancer Katya Jones), Peter Sawkins take the title of best British amateur baker, and BBC R1’s Jordan North go to his “happy place” aka Turf Moor (the home of Burnley FC) as part of a positive visualisation trick to get over his fear.

Plus, like always, there have been a number of TV blunders and hilarious moments to reflect back on. One of the funniest highlights includes a BBC news snippet featuring a child gate-crashing her mother’s video interview – something I’m sure a lot of home-workers can relate to. The video has now been viewed nearly 2 million times on the official BBC YouTube accounts. And talking of viral clips, a snippet taken from Celebrity Mastermind became a social media meme, after actress Amanda Henderson was asked the name of teenage environmentalist activist Greta Thunberg and cluelessly answered “Sharon”.

Other TV highlights of the year include:

Tech Review – Chromecast with Google TV set up and review. #Chromecast #Tech

Chromecast with Google TV is a new affordable streaming device that turns your TV into a smart one that is if you do not already own one as they are popular now and most come by default this way anyway but still you can boost it up with this cool pebble shaped device that now comes with a remote you can talk too like any Google product these days and it works really well and does not require a high speed internet connection either to stream.

This time however if you are familiar with Chromecast you get Google TV thrown in and the UI is great similar to Apple Watch Now and the experience is smooth. This is 4K ready and the picture is fantastic especially if you have a 4K TV and you will see this in the video below how clear this is and it really is a stand out picture and also sports Dolby Vision.

When it comes to the product it is once again a HDMI connection that is hidden behind your TV but still requires its own power source and this is one thing perhaps needs changing going forward.

How it works is that it will base your favourites on your subscription services and kept simple which is great for newcomers to the platform and as mentioned has a really appealing look to it and simple enough to navigate through .You also get recommendations as you would say on You Tube based on what you have watched before, also you can bookmark movies for watching later and you can also continue to watch same as Netflix and this is cool as some services do not offer this.

The real fun though is using the remote control and it works rather well with a simple to use remote nicely designed buttons that are tactile and rather than searching you can just ask your remote and you have to quick launch buttons too for Netflix and You Tube, so that is me sold right there. The Assistant on the remote will also allow you to control your existing Google Devices at home and you can also pair them. You can also use your remote like you would your assistant and again seen in video..

If you have the last version you will ask if this one is worth the punt and the answer simply is yes, I have been a long time user of Chromecast and bring it everywhere with me and this will certainly be replacing the old model.. You can pick this up now for 68.65

Sony’s powerful and compact 48” MASTER Series A9 4K HDR OLED TV is available to pre-order now. #Sony #Tv #4k

Sony has announced the start of pre-orders for its newest MASTER Series A9 4K HDR OLED television in Europe. The A9 combines Sony’s high-end innovations in the fields of picture processing and sound for a striking, robust audio-visual amalgam encased in compact 48” to fit even the smallest living room.

Picture Processor X1™ Ultimate is at the heart of the A9’s prowess – it

precisely analyses image data to bring out the intense contrast of OLED with pure blacks, peak brightness and truly realistic pictures. The TV also features Pixel Contrast Booster, which enhances colour and contrast in bright areas so you can enjoy scenes full of lifelike shades and hues, more depth, fine texture and the pure black contrast that only OLED can deliver. Also, the A9 incorporates Sony’s own X-Motion Clarity™ technology, ensuring that even fast action stays smooth and clear. Moving images are precisely controlled to minimise blur so that pictures remain true with less loss in brightness during high speed scenes.

The A9 TV maintains Sony’s legacy of delivering a truly immersive audio-visual experience with the use of Acoustic Surface Audio, which turns the TV screen into a speaker. Two innovative actuators behind the screen vibrate discreetly to create sound, so what you hear comes from the place in the scene where the action is happening – dialogue from characters, engine noise from a car. This ties-in with Sony’s super-slim one slate design where screen meets the edge of the TV, immersing you in the picture without distraction. A powerful subwoofer is subtly integrated into the rear of the TV to create more dynamic, bass-heavy sound – ideal for action movies and music.

The new A9 TV continues to deliver the creator’s intent with Netflix Calibrated Mode. This mode was specially developed to enjoy Netflix originals and reproduce the same picture quality on a TV as on a studio evaluation master. With Netflix Calibrated Mode, the creator’s vision and intent is faithfully preserved. Further, the A9 is an IMAX® Enhanced™ product, ready to meet high-quality colour, contrast, clarity and sound, allowing to enjoy a fully immersive at-home entertainment experience that takes full advantage of IMAX Enhanced content.

Sony’s MASTER Series A9 4K HDR OLED TV features Ambient Optimization, a new technology that optimises picture and sound quality in any customer environment. It will automatically adjust the picture brightness to the ambient light in the room, boosting the brightness in bright rooms and reducing in dark rooms for the perfect view. It even detects objects in the room, such as curtains and furniture that can absorb or reflect sound, fine-tuning the acoustics so your sound isn’t compromised.

The A9 features Android TV™ with the Google Assistant, Google Play Store and Chromecast built-in, which offers users easy access to content, services and devices via its extensive platform. Sony’s original user interface menus and voice controls are also enhanced for better daily use. With the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa enabled devices, you may cast and control videos from YouTube with Google Home or change the channel or volume with Amazon Alexa enabled devices. Apple® AirPlay® 2 users can stream movies, music, games and photos to their television right from their iPhone®, iPad® or Mac®. The Apple HomeKit™ technology provides an easy, secure way for users to control their television from their iPhone®, iPad® or Mac®.
