Following the successful launch of MeacoCool in 2019, leading UK air treatment manufacturer Meaco is pleased to announce the launch of a new even quieter, more energy efficient range of portable air conditioners for summer 2020.
The new series is Meaco’s most energy efficient range of air conditioners yet, with an Energy Rating of A. By incorporating the new R290 refrigerant, which improves efficiency with better thermodynamics, these air conditioners are also more environmentally friendly. A window kit suitable for sash windows and sliding doors is included to vent hot air and a 1.8m long duct allows any excess heat to be expelled via a window.
The arrival of summer means a rise in temperature and humidity. Together with the current lockdown and more people being forced to spend long periods of time indoors, keeping cool can be a problem. Getting a good night’s sleep also becomes difficult when the weather turns hot and sticky. The launch of the stylish MeacoCool MC Series of portable air conditioners is timely, with six BTU model sizes to choose from, providing localised cooling in rooms from 12M² to 36m² and an emphasis on low noise and energy efficiency.
In the low fan speed setting, the new and reduced sound pressure level of just 53dB(A) makes this an easy portable air conditioner to live with.
Available in six different sizes ranging from 7,000 BTU to 14,000 BTU, this is a product series for all room dimensions, dehumidifying as they cool to remove the sticky feeling that comes with a UK summer. The 12,000 BTU and 14,000 BTU additions are the most powerful portable air conditioners Meaco has manufactured to date, making them perfect for larger spaces, especially south facing rooms. These larger sizes are just as quiet as the smaller models in the range, so with the extra cooling output, they provide exceptional value.
In addition, the CH models in the range enable customers to both heat and cool rooms. The reverse heat pump in the CH appliances enables dual functionality as an air conditioner or heater, which makes them particularly useful all year round in the home and office.
Small and lightweight, the MC series is fitted with castors making it easy to move from room to room. The easy-to-use remote control* provides full control of the air conditioner, enabling the user to adjust the temperature and engage a sleep mode to ensure a restful night’s sleep.
To get the best out of this air conditioner, Meaco recommends pre-cooling rooms, such as a bedroom, to ensure it is cooled before it needs to be used. This is easy to do with the timer function that allows users to set both an on and off timer from anytime between one and 24 hours.
All Meaco products come with a two-year parts and labour warranty for mainland UK, as well as the option of extending the warranty to a total of five years.
A tech duo from Waterford have launched a GPS-based app that will allow pubs, restaurants, gyms and other social and recreational outlets to open and do business in the new COVID-era.
The innovative technology, which is the first of its kind in the Irish marketplace, allows business owners to easily document and broadcast their venues’ compliance standards and the availability of space on their premises, to their customer base. This in turn equips patrons with the knowledge they need to make informed, real-time decisions around where they can go to socialise safely.
In its first week, 200 businesses signed up to arrange a demo of the software, and it is expected that take up of Ordee is likely to soar in the coming months, as Ireland gears up for a phased reopening.
Speaking of the new product, Ordee Co-founder Anthony Cronin,
“Publicans, restaurateurs and so many other business owners throughout the country are chomping at the bit to get back to work, but they are struggling to see how they can maintain compliance standards and still operate their business, while keeping costs down. With Ordee we have basically taken these key obstacles that businesses are facing, developed solutions to address them, and centralised the solutions in one easy to use app. It’s critical that venues can re-engage with their customer base – and Ordee will allow them to do this efficiently, cost effectively and safely”.
Mr. Cronin went on to outline how the app also addresses concerns from a consumer perspective,
“When the time comes, people will be itching to get out and socialise again – but there is a consistent air of concern amongst the public as to how they can do this safely. People are cognisant of the fact that they don’t want their behaviour, or the behaviour of others, to put themselves or others in jeopardy. The Ordee app is designed to go some way to alleviating these concerns”.
“Ordee” allows publicans, restauranteurs and other service providers and retailers to put their energy into their core business, while ensuring that their venue is compliant with “Return to Work Safely Guidelines”.
So How Does Ordee Work?
The business signs up to the program and is then listed as a venue on the app and shown on the live map to users. Businesses can segregate online bookings for space and for walk-ins
The user downloads the app and can check a list of venues in real time to see which venues currently have available space. They can book based on availability and join a queue
Once the user chooses a venue and arrives at the location, they receive a notification to confirm they are there and how many people are in their party, in which case the app will update the venue’s status accordingly. If the patron him/herself does not have the app on their person, then the venue itself can “clock a person/ persons in” manually through the admin section of the programme
The user can also use the app to order and pay for drinks, food etc.
Financial Support
Developers at Ordee say that because the app is deemed an ecommerce solution, businesses that want to sign up might be able to avail of the LEO Trading Online Voucher to do so – provided they meet the criteria.
Mr. Cronin commented,
“Cashflow is tight, to say the least, for most businesses at the moment and compliance with COVID-protocols is going to incur additional costs. To offset these, the Government have put in place supports – one of which is the Local Enterprise Trading Online grant and businesses can use it to sign up for Ordee. If your application is accepted, LEO will fund 90% of the cost of the Platform for your business. There are a few T&C’s but the process is very simple and effective”.
Since launching last week, there have been almost 200 businesses nationwide that have requested demonstrations.
Mr. Cronin concluded,
“Interest has been huge. Even more than we envisaged. Our team are working round the clock to ensure that we get to everyone who has requested a demo as quickly as possible”.

Business has played a key role throughout the evolution of history. Merchants, salesman, and businessman have been around, and transacting for hundreds of years. As the times have changed, and evolved, so has business through the evolution of technology. As more and more new technologies have been created and developed, business has been at the forefront, trying to figure out various ways, strategies, and methods to move their businesses and companies along with it. Whether it’s been minor or major advancements, businesses have kept at the forefront of technological evolution by adapting and adjusting their businesses to new technologies.
One of the fundamental concepts and beliefs of a business is to find more ways to be more efficient and effective in its operations. Whether that means new systems, new products, new services, or new operations, technology is something that’s closely connected to business. Finding various ways to rise above their competition and fight for business, businesses have been motivated to be at the forefront of technological evolution, to service the ever-changing needs of their customers, and to explore new products, features, and services as they become available.
Years ago, people were focused on the basics and the essentials. They had to find ways to get food, shelter, water, and a way to make ends meet. The objectives were staying alive, finding what to eat, and having a way to make money. Since then, as times have changed, and the needs and desires of people have changed as well, so have the businesses and companies who provide them with goods and services.
Technology’s Influence on Consumption
As technology has advanced, and as civilization has advanced with it, the products and services consumed have changed as well. Customers have gone from needing a milk person, to needing a supermarket filled with multiple different options, multiple different brands, and different ways of even cultivating the food.
Technology and technological advancements have allowed people to become more specific and pickier about what they choose to consume. Because of the new technologies and advancements in farming, cropping, and manufacturing, you’re able to get several different types of each good, a selection of multiple different brands, and many different ways
It’s much more common to find someone who’s a software engineer, than someone who’s a blacksmith. Back in the old days, a blacksmith was high in demand because people needed the goods he produced. Today, software engineers are high in demand, because people are using computer and other electronics on an everyday basis, and in many areas of life.
It’s incredible to see the way the world has changed, the way society has become, and the way people have changed, as technology has enabled people to have larger selections, easier accessibility, and a wider availability of common goods and services.
Businesses Evolving with Technology
One of the key and early adopters of technology has been businesses and companies. In almost every field, finance, medicine, media, law, manufacturing, and many more, technology has influenced their business in one way or another. Whether it’s the finances, the infrastructure, the operations, technology has influenced almost every business and industry there is. As technology has progressed, and new electronics, applications, and devices have been created, businesses and companies have been at the forefront, trying to figure out various ways to apply them to their businesses and their bottom lines.
Corporations have used technology to help them increase production, to cut costs, and to enhance their operations. One of the major revolutions within technology in the last fifty years, has been the computer. The computer has been incorporated into almost every single aspect of business in one way or another. The amount of time computers have been able to save and the number of tasks it’s been able to complete, has revolutionized the way business has been conducted.
Another important technological revolution has been the mobile phone. The mobile phone has enabled people to conduct and do business anywhere they are. In the beginning, being able to reach anyone and anywhere was incredibly powerful. As time progressed, mobile phones developed into smart phones, which now have similar capabilities to that of personal computers. With a variety of different applications, software’s, and uses, smart phones have become key pieces of technology when it comes to business. Businesses have had to make sure their applications, websites, and platforms are mobile friendly, as more and more of the world goes to their mobile devices to find the answers they need and make their purchase decisions.
The Way Marketing Has Changed
As more and more of society has spent time in the digital world, whether it’s on their phones, e-mails, or computers, marketers have followed. In the old days, marketing was in newspapers, on radio, on television, and on billboards. Nowadays, consumers see advertisements and marketing campaigns in lots of different places, especially online.
Digital Marketing has been a place where lots of companies and brands have flocked to market their products and get the attention of their desired audience. By moving online, their able to direct their marketing towards their target markets and have more of an opportunity to get prospective customers to purchase through their online platforms.
With the changes in marketing, the way companies have measured the success of their marketing campaigns has changed as well. The metrics and analytics behind every marketing success has been changed to clicks, conversions, and impressions. A lot of what business analysts do, in regard to marketing, is to try and analyze the success of the campaign by seeing how successful it was, the amount of awareness it generated, and the type of leads or sales it generated for the company advertising.
Conclusion
Technology’s role within business has been incredibly important over its evolution. Business is heavily driven by the ability to produce goods and services cheaper, or at more competitive prices than its competition.
Advancements in technology has given more and more opportunity to the consumer. As a result of technology, consumers have gained bigger selections, more choices within brands, and easier availability to the goods and services they’ve needed. The more and more technology has become integrated with society, companies have had to follow and meet the demands and needs of their customers.
The way businesses have operated their operations, has changed with technology as well. Companies have been able to cut costs, increase efficiencies, and find new ways to increase revenue as a result of technology. It’s encouraged companies to shift their businesses to digital platforms, and to attract them through digital mediums. The way companies have marketed their products and services has changed along with technology and moved into digital mediums. Digital Marketing has become an increasingly important part of any companies marketing strategy, and a vital way to attract customers to their businesses.
All in all, business and technology have been interconnected to each throughout their history and evolution.

Sony Corporation today announced the upcoming release of two models of intelligent vision sensors, the first image sensors in the world to be equipped with AI processing functionality. Including AI processing functionality on the image sensor itself enables high-speed edge AI processing and extraction of only the necessary data, which, when using cloud services, reduces data transmission latency, addresses privacy concerns, and reduces power consumption and communication costs.
These products expand the opportunities to develop AI-equipped cameras, enabling a diverse range of applications in the retail and industrial equipment industries and contributing to building optimal systems that link with the cloud.
The spread of IoT has resulted in all types of devices being connected to the cloud, making commonplace the use of information processing systems where information obtained from such devices is processed via AI on the cloud. On the other hand, the increasing volume of information handled in the cloud poses various problems: increased data transmission latency hindering real-time information processing; security concerns from users associated with storing personally identifiable data in the cloud; and other issues such as the increased power consumption and communication costs cloud services entail.
The new sensor products feature a stacked configuration consisting of a pixel chip and logic chip. They are the world’s first image sensor to be equipped with AI image analysis and processing functionality on the logic chip. The signal acquired by the pixel chip is processed via AI on the sensor, eliminating the need for high-performance processors or external memory, enabling the development of edge AI systems. The sensor outputs metadata (semantic information belonging to image data) instead of image information, making for reduced data volume and addressing privacy concerns. Moreover, the AI capability makes it possible to deliver diverse functionality for versatile applications, such as real-time object tracking with high-speed AI processing. Different AI models can also be chosen by rewriting internal memory in accordance with user requirements or the conditions of the location where the system is being used.
Main Features
■ World’s first image sensor equipped with AI processing functionality
The pixel chip is back-illuminated and has approximately 12.3 effective megapixels for capturing information across a wide angle of view. In addition to the conventional image sensor operation circuit, the logic chip is equipped with Sony’s original DSP (Digital Signal Processor) dedicated to AI signal processing, and memory for the AI model. This configuration eliminates the need for high-performance processors or external memory, making it ideal for edge AI systems.
■ Metadata output
Signals acquired by the pixel chip are run through an ISP (Image Signal Processor) and AI processing is done in the process stage on the logic chip, and the extracted information is output as metadata, reducing the amount of data handled. Ensuring that image information is not output helps to reduce security risks and address privacy concerns. In addition to the image recorded by the conventional image sensor, users can select the data output format according to their needs and uses, including ISP format output images (YUV/RGB) and ROI (Region of Interest) specific area extract images.
■ High-speed AI processing
When a video is recorded using a conventional image sensor, it is necessary to send data for each individual output image frame for AI processing, resulting in increased data transmission and making it difficult to deliver real-time performance. The new sensor products from Sony perform ISP processing and high-speed AI processing (3.1 milliseconds processing for MobileNet V1*2) on the logic chip, completing the entire process in a single video frame. This design makes it possible to deliver high-precision, real-time tracking of objects while recording video.
MobileNet V1: An image analysis AI model for object recognition on mobile devices.
■ Selectable AI model
Users can write the AI models of their choice to the embedded memory and can rewrite and update it according to its requirements or the conditions of the location where the system is being used. For example, when multiple cameras employing this product are installed in a retail location, a single type of camera can be used with versatility across different locations, circumstances, times, or purposes. When installed at the entrance to the facility it can be used to count the number of visitors entering the facility; when installed on the shelf of a store it can be used to detect stock shortages; when on the ceiling it can be used for heat mapping store visitors (detecting locations where many people gather), and the like. Furthermore, the AI model in a given camera can be rewritten from one used to detect heat maps to one for identifying consumer behavior, and so on.
The Jabra Elite Active 75t are the latest on offer from the company yet you might ask why as they look identical and are near identical to the recently launched 75t but there is a few differences to take note and these are geared towards the fitness folk more so but you can use them if not, there is a new change to the coating on the exterior which is for the better regardless. If you own the 65t they are smaller and if you own the 75t you might want to move on but your personal preferences or lifestyle might swing a purchase..
The new buds have an IP57 rating which is ideal for the sports folk whilst the 75t only came with an IP55 rating this is the biggest change here, everything else pretty much remains the same after that including the battery life, I usually test these over a few weeks to get a better understanding and consistency level on battery for a more accurate real time answer and they hold up pretty well with the 7.5 hours on a single charge, I was getting around 7 with max volume in most instances. Also not forgetting fast charge which gives you up to 6o mins with a 15 min charge.
Fit is great as expected and with the new coating slightly better grip and more stable in the ears the passive noise cancellation is great and you must download the sound plus app which I have constantly mentioned in my review this is one of if not the best app in the business and it offers you more personalisation with your earbuds to give you the best audio experience you can have.
Rather that go on about the sound experience these are the best in the game for the price and have covered this in the 75t review, for the money these offer the best sound for the price you pay given I have tested most of the true wireless earbuds out there I know my sound and my ears dont lie, given everyone’s ears are different though it might be an arguable claim but from testing earbuds in the capacity I do I know when sound is good and when sound is not so good and these offer it all.
You have all the features present in the 75t present again which leaves you phone free to activate commands from the buds themselves, some might find the buttons sensitive but once you get use to using them you will overcome this and these again do not hurt your ears on pressing which some earbuds can do, you might at the start hit a command taking them in or out but you overcome this too with thumb memory and these also have auto play and pause detection too which is great.
One thing to note is you cant use these individually whilst the other is charging being the right. Again it is common and not a huge dealbreaker for me this is a minor issue quite common but you can actively use the other side as some like to use one earbud for certain things. Hear through again is present here for those on the go or jogging for an example which is an ideal feature for being aware of your surroundings.. Call quality again is top notch here with the technology Jabra use and is hard to beat all calls taken where great both ends inside and outside in my testing period..
With the 75t you can connect to more than one device at the same time so if like me and work with two devices all day this is a great feature to have so if you are on a phone/laptop or work with two phones they are the ideal kit and if you need to pair or move to another device you can do so very quickly.
Overall could I recommend these even if you have the 75t?? It is a yes/no argument depending on your lifestyle more so and with more of us taking up fitness I would swing to the yes side even if you have the 75t but it is up to you after that if you want more of the same great sound that you get from these like the 75t good bass, no lag latency good volume level and great sound overall in general beating most others out there it is your call after that..
Recently Edifier launched a new range of colours to their TWS1 range which is great to see as it is something I felt they needed to do and they come in a pastel type colour of Navy, Minty Green and there is some improvements in the technology used here too, For the price these come in at you simply cant go wrong end of story and an easy to recommend purchase from me and the same Edifier sound signature remains here too.
Controls are all as before so nothing has changed there, the looks the same too the only other difference is in the audio and colours available, The sound is great as expected and loud with a good deep bass thrown in for good measure and from my testing on the usual platforms I was again impressed with how these deliver and better than before with no lag latency and no break up on connection around my house which does be an issue sometime here in the house due to materials used. These are also made from LG scratch proof material so you need not worry about colour fade here either so they will last and the white pair I have are still white and have not gone off colour either. Battery life is good and on par with the specs given which is something often over exaggerated and pairing is simple with no issues repairing the product and you get the extra IPX5 rating thrown in here.
Check out the video below for more and if you are looking for a very good pair of true wireless these are what you need to look at.
Main Features:
TrueWireless ™ Stereo Plus for easier pairing and better connectivity
Up to 32 hours of playback with Charging Case
IPX5 splash and sweatproof
Bluetooth v5.0 aptX for a strong connection with lower latency
