Samsung’s keynote was one of the most unexpected yesterday at CES and they did what they do best, impress everyone with something unexpected.

The Galaxy TAB line is really well known by now, keeping Android on the tablet market for a while. But this time though the Galaxy line has seen a step in other direction.

Meet the Galaxy Tab Pro S

And as you can see its looking like a Surface Pro.

The new slate from Samsung runs on Windows 10 OS and they claim to have a “truly powerful 2-in-1”

The device itself is 6.3 mm thin and has 693 gm  making it easily portable, also the TAB Pro S comes with a full sized keyboard cover with a built in kickstand and touchpad.

Packs a gorgeous 12 inch 2K Super AMOLED display which will boost the 5,200 mAh battery lasting, one accordingly to Samsung should go up to 10.5H  and can be fully charge in just 2.5H

Also it comes with the Intel Core M processor with 4GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage, and is the first Windows tablet to come with LTE Cat 6 support.

This is just one of the many announcements we’ll see this week, so stay tuned for more #CES2016 coverage

Discover the 2-in-1 StikBox case By @VicenteA_George #Stikbox #Iphone #Photo

Apparently the more we want to avoid it the more common they get but let’s face it, even when not all of us are fan of these sometimes they come in handy like when you’re with a large group of friends or simply want to showcase the place where you and your wife are spending the honeymoon.

Well the solution could be here already, meet StikBox the 2-in-1 case and Selfie Stick.

This beautiful design case has a secret but useful purpose, the patron that can be seen on the back is in fact allows you to have a full length selfie stick with you all the time.

How do this works? Simple! Just pull the rails, rotate the phone, adjust the camera and that’s it!

The Full aluminum rail will hold the phone secure while you take your photo.

This whole idea is brilliant but needs your help to become a reality, right now the project can be found on a Kickstarter campaign that still has a month to go and already has backed almost half of what they need.

There are several options to choose from with all of them offering the StikBox in different combinations, of color and quantity.

The case is just 0.6 inches deep and the case fully contains the 28.3-inch stick that also acts as kickstand for viewing content on the when your hands are full.

So as you can see is a pretty great idea, which can be seen during CES 2016 as the guys are going to be there showcasing their product.

But why don’t you take a look:

https://vimeo.com/144301943

So quoting the CEO of the company Yekutiel Sherman “why carry two things, when you can carry one?”

The case was made with Iphone in mind but due to a high demand of their product they are going to make it also available for the Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge too.

If you want to have one for yourself just go HERE

The #GalaxyA 2016 to be available in Europe on Jan. 8th By @VicenteA_George #Samsung #Android #A5 #A7 #A3

Last year Samsung gave us a glimpse of what a premium looking phone could be with their Galaxy A line up, the A3, A5 and A7

All with the beautiful and stylish look we wanted to our Galaxy S5, on a smaller form factor, price and specs.

This year though they decided to join the “budget club” delivering some really good phone with a good price, with that in mind they recently launched an updated and upgraded version on the “A” series with the Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 of 2016

Unlike they predecessors, these variants follow the design language of the Galaxy S6 with a metal and glass construction.

These devices were set to launch in China this month but now we know they’re coming to our shores as soon as January 8th

But let’s take a look under the hood of the new Galaxy A line

As you can see the A5 and A7 are the Big brothers packing even a Fingerprint reader while the A3 is what’s now consider “the compact version” allowing you to have almost everything you could ask in conservative color options like Black, White and Rose Gold.

These 2016 A series has as you could see a significant downside, they come with Android 5.1 instead of coming directly with 6.0  but this probably change really soon.

Now what really matters is the performance and that is something that we’ll see when they get here. The new Galaxy A line up is schedule to release on January, although we only have the price of two of these devices:

The Galaxy A3 will costs €329, while the Galaxy A5 will be €429 we have no info about the A7 but seeing the difference between the other two, this one will probably come at €529 (or maybe less)
This is at least what the only European retailer (in Nederland) is asking for them.
What do you think about these new boys? Will you take one home with you if they hit your local retailer?  Let us know in the comment section bellow or Tweet us using #TechBuzzIreland

Samsung introduce the First Flexible Batteries Stripe and Band By @VicenteA_George #Samsung #Battery #Wearables

Recently at InterBattery 2015 held in Seoul, Samsung SDI  Division showed off  their newest invention, a pair of flexible batteries for the devices of tomorrow.

Let’s Welcome Stripe and Band

As we know wearable devices are becoming more and more common these days, but the major problem those gadgets are facing is battery life, but thanks to this kind of innovation that situation is about to change.

The Stripe is as thin as 0.3mm and can be folded into almost anything, lets say a cup, a wrist, your neck or even a T-shirt.

Design with cutting edge technology this battery is aimed to increase the durability of future devices

The Band as the name implies is aimed to be an extra fuse within the smartwatches bands.

This extra charge will give you 50% more battery than usual and can be fold over 50 thousand times to adjust any wrist.

Although there are not ready to hit the market yet, the guys at Samsung SDI were able to demonstrate the products capabilities within some devices at the EXPO.

Is not the first time we have seen something like this from the guys at Samsung, after all, the “curve battery”  from 2 years ago found its way inside the Gear Fit. So is possible to see these little ones sooner than we think.

Samsung SDI Curved Battery

What do you think? Is worth adding extra batteries to something which already should have enough power?

Samsung launched the Z3 with Tizen in India By @VicenteA_George #Tizen #Samsung

Last year the Korean manufacturer Samsung introduced the Z1 an entry level phone backed up with their own OS Tizen.

Now they decided to extend the family with the new kid on the block the also low-end Samsung Z3

At simple sight the Z3 could easily be mistaken with a member of the Galaxy family, but when we take a closer look we realize that the back is made from plastic.

As said before this is not a high-end model despite the appearance, take a look at the specs:

A 5″ Super AMOLED display (720×1,280)

A Quad-core Spreadtrum chip

1GB of RAM

8GB of internal storage (With Micro SD slot up to 128GB)

8MP rear camera

5MP front-facing shooter with 120-degree

And  2,600mAh battery

All that powered by Tizen OS in version 2.3

In the connectivity department you’ll have WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth® 4.0 BLE, GPS and GLONASS

The only really downgrade is that you will not have 4G connectivity, unfortunately there’s just 3G on board.

Following the steps of his big siblings this little boy also features an “Ultra Data Saving Mode’” that minimizes mobile data usage and an “Ultra Power Saving Mode” for continuous performance with low battery life.

One thing that has the Tizen behind other OS is the lack of apps as you’ll normally hear from any rising OS.

But as a bonus you’ll have the MixRadio app, one of the most personalized music services.

All in all is a good phone for trying new stuff.

The phone is already available to purchase in India for INR 8490 which translate into €114,25 (£84.68) or $131 in your choice of Gold, Black and Silver, but there’s no word about if this model will be available in other countries.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 launched to the edge of space. #Samsung #GalaxyS6

Seems to be a common thing these days, but the team at accessories manufacturer Slickwraps, Inc. mounted the Galaxy S6 onto a box that was attached to a high-altitude balloon and launched it into the stratosphere. While up there, Slickwraps estimates that it faced “temperatures as low as -65°F (-54°C), and a maximum altitude of 122,264 feet.”

The phone makes it far enough up into the stratosphere where it looks like a scene out of the film Gravity before the balloon bursts and sends the device hurtling back toward Earth. The device crashed along with the box it was mounted on and it did indeed survive the impact despite encountering speeds of 110 mph along the way.

If you love Samsung and live upon the extreme, you don’t need to worry about your phone any more with the Xcover 3 By @VicenteA_George #samsung #android

Samsung is well known for having multiples models of the same phone, but in this particular case, it has been almost two years since the Xcover 2 came out. And this week Sammy has decided bring the name back with the upgraded Galaxy Xcover 3.

Samsung’s latest ultra-rugged device is aimed to a very niche segment of the audience, for the extreme adventures out there.

Unlike the Galaxy S5 wich is IP certified but nor really “drops-proof” the new Xcover has a better protection in all ways. It’s IP67-rated, signifying its dust tight and its capable to withstand ingress of water for up to 30 minutes at up to 1 meter deep. Is also MIL-STD 810G-certified, meaning that it should be capable of withstanding very high or very low temperatures, and survive drops with ease.

Let’s take a look at the device:

O.S: Android 4.4 upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Display: 4.5-inch WVGA 800×480
Battery: 2200mAh
Processor: 1.2GHz, Quad-core Snapdragon
Main camera :5 MP main with underwater shooting mode.
F.F Camera: 2 MP
Internal Memory: 8GB, micro SD
RAM: 1.5 GB

As you can see this is apretty interesting Mid-range device, the smartphone is planed to be offically unveiled at CeBIT and will be release in April for a price of around 275 euros.

What do you think of the new extreme mid-range on town?

Rumoured Galaxy S6 details leak with AnTuTu benchmark #Samsung by @TechNewsIreland

Another day, another leak from the gigantic boat of Samsung, and this one is no less interesting from the previous.

Specs have leaked for Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S6, the phone is supposedly going to sport:

  • a 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 processor (Snapdragon 810), an
  • ARM Mali-T760 GPU
  • Quad HD (1440 x 2560) 5.5-inch display
  • 3 GB of RAM.
  • The phone supposedly has a 20 MP back camera, and a 5 MP front camera.

We can assume that the device will also have 32GB and 64GB variants, but one thing we can’t be sure of is the certainty on a MicroSD card slot. This is becase Samsung is designing the S6 from the ground up and calling it “Project Zero”. It’s safe to assume that this will mean an all metal chassis for the S6 instead of the plastic we’ve grown to associate with the brand.

All things aside, if Samsung can remember to de-bloat it’s software before it ships in an aesthetically pleasing powerhouse, they can become serious contenders in the phone market again.
