Tech Review – Majority MP3 Player Pro

Majority Audio recently launched the Majority MP3 Pro and we took a first look at it here if you want to check that out before we move along where we took a good tour of the UI and what to expect inside.

As stated in that article it has been a bit since I actually used an MP3 player and I went through some amount of those back in the day, like most if not all we now use our phones to consume music which is fair but for me this is like a dumb phone to an extent as it has taken me away from my phone and all the notions and not listening to my music to its full extent also this has been good for testing earbuds headphones and speakers too along the way.

The build quality is excellent here and it does remind me of how good some MP3 players did look and feel like, this also comes with plenty of on board storage and you can add your own via Micro Sd card which was ideal for me as I had a pile of music stored one from years ago but the album art was out of kilter however all the tracks still in place but then check my old laptop which gave me some more music with album art in most instances which never really bothered me however when you have a display it of course looks aesthetically better than a random image.

This does not look cheap and looks more premium than what you will pay for it with its color screen with buttons on the right side and a navi wheel on the front which at times for me took a while to get use to using being so long since I last used such a device.

The earphones that came with the device are not the greatest in the world but decent and give you great crisp and clear audio however you can connect to your own or even a speaker to really get things going, you can also use the built in speaker on the device but connecting it to a speaker is better but then again if you only want low volume or personal use the speaker is fine you can also use this to record audio on the go which is handy for taking notes they can be done in wav or MP3 files. You can also watch stored movies on this which is kinda cool so if you have any ensure to transfer to your SD card.

When it comes to sound it does a great job but I would also check source of music as many of my songs are on an SD card years old and I think partially corrupted when I added new music it sounded great with my own choice of headphones and earbuds this is not to knoch the earbuds that came with the device which are find for anyone not to hooked up on fantastic audio and the price you pay overall here you should not expect insane quality audio but with decent earbuds you will be fine and it is nice that they gave you earbuds in the first place as they are a dying item now with phones and other products normally shipped with such.

For the price you pay though today you are getting a sound robust quality product with a color screen and many other options not seen on MP3 players and good sound and also a distraction from your mobile phone with the ability to connect to external speakers.

Key Features of the Majority MP3 Pro:

  • 5.0 Bluetooth Connectivity
  • 4hr Charging Time
  • 65GB Internal Storage
  • Compatible with SD cards up to 128GB

HMD teams up with Sinead Gorey for the sales start of HMD Pulse Pro

Forget cottagecore, commutercore and gorpcore; there’s a new fashion aesthetic on the block with an unlikely muse at its ‘core’: the HMD Pulse Pro smartphone.

To celebrate the sales start of the HMD Pulse Pro smartphone, European mobile innovator, Human Mobile Devices (HMD) and Fashion Week designer Sinead Gorey have teamed up to create ‘The Phonecore Collection’, which includes a pair of ‘Screen shades’ –  sunglasses, with vertical frames and lenses shaped like a mobile phone.

The Phonecore Collection is a hyper-limited drop of fresh Sinead Gorey fashion designs all inspired by – and integrating with – one of HMD’s first original smartphones, the HMD Pulse Pro and its Glacier Green colour. The collection intends to accompany, accentuate and accessorise a smartphone like nothing else in the fashion world.

Lars Silberbauer, HMD’s Chief Marketing Officer: “We are so excited to unveil our HMD Pulse Pro device, and this unique Phonecore collection designed by Sinead Gorey. It is the perfect statement of what the HMD Pulse Pro, and HMD, represents. People no longer want their smartphones to only

be state-of-the-art pieces of technology but also to be fashion statements – and the HMD Pulse Pro is both. In addition to a 50MP camera, gesture-activated selfie function and bleeding edge tech under the hood, the device has a distinctive normcore revival aesthetic that makes it a great accessory to any wardrobe. The device also represents affordable luxury, as we don’t believe that quality should be out of reach for anybody.”

Commenting on the launch of The Phonecore Collection, Sinead Gorey, Fashion Designer, said: “With the HMD Pulse Pro acting as the muse to my designs, our Phonecore collection perfectly demonstrates the coming together of tech and fashion. Each accessory boasts a 70s space age future feeling with art-deco references and modern technology at its heart. For me it’s clear the intersection of fashion and technology is only going to lead to more industry innovations with wearable accessories at the forefront.”

The HMD x Sinead Gorey ‘Phonecore’ range comprises:

  • Phonecore ‘Screen shades’: a wild pair of oversized sunglasses with elongated vertical frames matching the exact shape of the smartphone, complete with black lenses mimicking the device’s screen. Wearing two smartphone silhouettes over the eyes is a vibe.

  • Phonecore ‘Mobile backpack’: a 3D-printed undersized backpack designed only to house the smartphone. The semi-transparent smartphone backpack builds on the ever-popular trend of the mini bag but puts the smartphone in the front seat. The bag has also been engineered for a HMD Pulse Pro to sit upright in the bag, enabling owners to take a swift hands-free selfie whilst on the go.

  • Phonecore Belt: A modernised belt that heroes the smartphone. The toolkit-style belt features a pouch for the phone, making it the ultimate utilitarian addition to someone’s fit.

The items in the HMD x Sinead Gorey ‘Phonecore’ collection can be paired with a wide variety of apparel and other fashion ‘cores’, but the items’ colour-blocking lends itself particularly well to the normcore 2.0 aesthetic and monochromatic outfits.

The HMD x Sinead Gorey ‘Phonecore’ Collection is dropping globally with a limited number of accessories available to the public to get their hands on. Stay tuned at HMD.com.

Zoom launches app for Apple Vision Pro

Today Zoom announced a new app designed for Apple Vision Pro, giving users the ability to connect with colleagues and customers in a more real-world, immersive environment, available on February 2. Zoom’s app for Apple Vision Pro seamlessly blends video conferencing with users’ physical space, blurring the lines of in-person and remote meetings with the infinite canvas on Apple Vision Pro, helping distributed teams feel more connected and included.

“Zoom on Apple Vision Pro helps teammates stay connected no matter when and where they work, or how they communicate and collaborate,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom. “The integration of Zoom on Apple Vision Pro and visionOS extends our platform promise of allowing participants the ultimate meeting experience from anywhere and delivers on our commitment of seamless collaboration and communication.”

Empowering the future of work

With people working in-person, remotely, or hybrid, Zoom is helping users facilitate connection, productivity, and collaboration with their colleagues and customers. Zoom’s app on Apple Vision Pro provides users with a native experience for meetings, giving them exceptional audio and video quality, as well as the ability to easily start, join, collaborate, and schedule meetings.

Apple Vision Pro users can look forward to a number of new features with Zoom on visionOS:

  • Personas: Users are represented by an authentic spatial representation of themselves in Apple Vision Pro, allowing other meeting participants to see their facial and hand movements.
  • Spatial Zoom experience: Zoom on Apple Vision Pro creates an immersive experience that can be scaled to the perfect size, which is ideal for users wanting to feel like they are in the same room as their colleagues and customers, without the need for additional physical equipment or setup.

Additional capabilities for Zoom on Apple Vision Pro, expected to be available later this spring,  include:

  • 3D object sharing: For some industries, like media and design, sharing 3D files is an important part of the workflow. While it’s possible to share these files on traditional screens, the experience will come to life when seeing objects in the context of an environment. For instance, an animator or game designer could collaborate and share the latest character model via Zoom’s 3D object sharing capabilities.
  • Zoom Team Chat: Team Chat is tightly integrated with Zoom Meetings and makes it easy to share information and connect with teammates. Apple Vision Pro users will be able to collaborate with colleagues and streamline communications using Team Chat in the Zoom app.
  • Real-world pinning: Users will be able to pin up to five Zoom Meeting participants anywhere in their physical space, with the option to remove the background of pinned participants, helping Apple Vision Pro users feel more connected to the people in the meeting.

In December 2023, Zoom announced a new app for Apple TV, furthering its mission of creating one platform that delivers limitless human connection across the Apple ecosystem, which also includes experiences for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and CarPlay.

Users will be able to download Zoom from the App Store when Apple Vision Pro launches on February 2, 2024.

Tech Review – Creative Zen Hybrid Pro SXFI Headphones

Gaming headphones are a big deal these days and there is plenty on the market to pick from and come in all price brackets so there is something for everyone here, As a user of Creatives products some years it is a brand I know I can trust with their audio products and even not being the huge gamer I once was and now a casual user  with all the consoles, Creative is a brand you will most likely see on my big head be it headphones or earbuds for gaming and not only gaming but audio in general as they are well build solid products offering you great value for money and more via their apps which enhances any experience.

The Creative Zen Hybrid Pro SXFI boasts an array of core features, including Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation and Ambient Mode, giving users the flexibility to fully immerse themselves in their audio or stay attuned to their surroundings with modes that seamlessly adapt to any environment. It also comes equipped with custom-tuned 40 mm, powerful yet light Neodymium drivers, which ensure every note is reproduced with power and precision, delivering a rich and captivating sound experience. We take a look at all this in the video review below and also the apps which gives you enhancements like no other and I tested these on my machines here at home to see what is on offer this time around.

The build quality again is robust and solid yet lightweight which for the more avid gamer is critical, the soft cups rest nicely on the ears and the headband is comfortable as well you also get a removable mic which for me is the best option to go over the fixed ones we see as it is something I personally would not use much as I game on my own rather than go into multiplayer online rooms etc.

You get the RGB effects thrown into the  mix too which gives a little flair to what otherwise looks like a regular set of gaming headphones and makes these stand out and the look sleek and clean, you also have other controls on them too such as the power on/off which doubles as a broadcast search and pairing mode, mic mute control, volume wheel and ANC/Ambient control button and trust me the ANC on with the volume maxed out you will hear nothing outside, I mean nothing. Within the SXFI app you have EQ settings and the magic SXFI can be turned on and off. You also get music controls such as play and pause skip and reverse tracks so you can use these not only for gaming but your music and it all plays out well.

RGB Lights on the headphones

The sound is what people are after lets get to it, You need to do the head mapping it only takes a few minutes and you will need someone to help you, you have an EQ to suit your needs and two apps to use what more do you want here, the ANC is great the volume is LOUD and when gaming you wont miss a beat or a footstep and if you do use the mic it works well I done a quick test for audio and it was well received after calling up a buddy or two to waste their time for a few mins to test the headphones, they dont mind and know what I am like but sorry lads no time for gaming right now. BUT that is going to change going forward.

For the money you will fork out here you are onto a winner in short with plenty of features and great audio no matter what they might be plugged into.
